I came in today with my kids, found a few things we wanted to buy, and left without spending a dime, and that's entirely on your staff. From the second we walked in, we were followed around the store like criminals. Every aisle, every turn, someone was right there watching us. It was relentless and humiliating. I noticed we were the only people of color in the place, and the way we were treated made it pretty clear what was going on. So I put back everything I'd picked out and walked out. Wide variety of merchandise to choose from. I found my Noritake pattern here and bought some serving pieces for a fraction of what I would buy new, and yet these pieces look new. I bought some Mikasa Cereal/ fruit bowls that go well with a different pattern of Mikasa pieces I have. Rescued Treasures was a pleasant surprise. I have donated multiple times without issue, numerous staff offered to help, gave me a good rolling cart to bring my items in with, and were very helpful. Not everybody is going to be super pleasant and chatty, I think that's fine tbh. I haven't ever had anyone be rude to me here. It's a huge space and they get in tons of treasures, it's true thrift store with lots of goodies stacked to sift through. It goes to a good cause and a lot of people working hard for the kittens and cats so I always feel good donating and purchasing from here. In order to keep things running they rely on these purchases, so the prices probably have a lot to do with that. I'll always come back. It's way bigger than you'd realize looking from the outside. read more

I usually wouldn't write a negative review about a thrift store -- especially one that claims to support a good cause -- but this was absolutely ridiculous. I've shopped at Rescue Treasures for years and have spent thousands of dollars there over time. But during a recent visit, I had one of the most disrespectful and bizarre experiences I've ever had in retail. I was looking at two inexpensive electronics -- a no-name security camera and a wireless backup cam, totaling maybe $28 with discounts -- and simply holding them while researching whether they were worth buying. A staff member came over and made what I now realize was fake small talk, then abruptly asked what I "intended to do" with the items. Before I could even finish explaining that I was still deciding, she physically pulled them out of my arms and insisted on keeping them behind the counter. I told her clearly I wasn't done with them -- I was still looking them up -- but she dismissed that and said, "People steal these from this section all the time." Excuse me? So because of other people's behavior, I get treated like a potential thief? Meanwhile, there were other customers walking around with much more expensive items in their hands -- none of whom were being followed, interrogated, or manhandled. I made it very clear: I don't need to steal. If I wanted to walk out with something, it certainly wouldn't be $20 worth of outdated electronics. To have my character questioned and my personal space violated like that -- over thrift-store junk -- was not only offensive, it was humiliating. And to make matters worse, the rest of the staff doubled down and treated me as if I had done something wrong. No apology, no acknowledgment, just cold condescension and a complete lack of accountability. I walked out disgusted, and frankly, I expected better from a place that claims to serve the community. That said, I will continue to shop here -- but on my terms. I expect to be treated with basic respect and not to be followed, interrogated, or physically grabbed again. Totally misleading. This is not in fact fill a bag for $5. I filled a bag with kid's books and when I went to pay the rude lady said "You didn't think you would be able to buy all those for $5 did you?!" They said they would have to go through my bag and it would take them a while to figure out which ones were a part of the "fill a bag for $5 kid's books". She then called another lady over who said they need me to come back tomorrow to pick up the bag because it would take "so long." She then called over the store manager who was very condescending. I told her that I spent the last 20 min picking out books basically wasting my time and she said that the sign wasn't correct. So basically they are advertising this but not honoring it. She then had the audacity to tell me "please calm down" as I was very calm. I NEVER once raised my voice, spoke over her or did anything to give her any right to say that to me. When I told her that she was very inappropriate to say that as I was extremely calm as they (all three associates) all were rude and condescending, she apologized. I am appalled that they have such unprofessional and demeaning staff. I am ashamed that I have donated so much to them and they should be ashamed to cause a huge deal over children's books. For them to price gouge children's books is lame and not a good look. These books will be provided to children and benefit children in this community. I do not have a problem buying/donating money to help cats which is why I always used to shop and donate here but when they purposely price gouge and are rude while doing so, it leaves a very negative taste in my mouth for this organization. I will never shop or donate here again which only hurts the cats that I truly love and have a passion for helping. If only they cared about more than just cats...like children! Why not help children in their community? Most local thrift stores in fact donate many children's books to the children in their community. What a bad look for this organization. This is the zenith of genuine thrift stores encasing not just women's and men's clothing, but furniture, household decor, kitchen aids, and a considerable range of books. Store manager manager was very rude .My father just passed away we take all hi clothing to donate the store manager comes out yelling profanity telling everyone to stop buying so much S**t then we would not have to bring donations to his store . i would fire him in a heart beat if he worked for me donations is how he receives his paycheck . i will no longer recommend anyone donates there on till this store does something with this manager. read more

This is a medium-sized thrift store in a fairly busy part of Walnut Creek. It's not in downtown, but it's about half a mile away from downtown. The store is extremely well organized, very tidy and everything in its place. For example, the books are very well organized by genre of literature, and then even organized by author. I was able to find a few novels by my favorite authors. Here's the key feature of this thrift store: All of the proceeds go to benefit little cats! In particular to help with spaying and neutering clinics. So all in all, a very fun thrift store to go shopping at Walnut Creek. Keep in mind they also have some great sales. I love that all the proceeds of this thrift store go directly to helping homeless cats in Contra Costa County. Unfortunately, that is the only thing I love about this store. I understand they are at the mercy of their donations. The pricing on certain items is astronomical considering the "quality". The man, which I am assuming manages the store, lacks customer services skills. I am, and, have always been a "thrifter", meaning I shop thrift stores and Rescued Treasures is my favorite thrift store. Their charity supports cats and since I am a cat lover it was a perfect match. I find some of the best finds in this store. I purchased an entire set of Noritake China dinnerware complete with serving dishes and bowls, a gravy boat, dessert bowls and all in perfect condition. This set, brand new in the 1960's would have cost about $200 and I paid $75.00 for the set. I entertain a lot and I buy many of the dinnerware I use from Rescued Treasures. The thrill of "thrifting" is finding unique things that make my dinner parties special as I take my guests to a bygone era when people entertained with decorum and class. My house is a plethora of interesting things I purchased from Rescued Treasures. The place is conveniently located at the corner of Newell and Broadway in Walnut Creek. The staff are friendly, helpful and kind. They take a lot of time and energy making the place look like an antique shop instead of a second hand store. Rescued Treasures is a fun little thrift store tucked away on Newell Avenue (same plaza as Dunkin Donuts & Papa John's) that benefits a great local organization-Community Concern for Cats. Being a cat lover and happy to support local businesses that give back to the community I've made a point to stop in here a few times to see what's on offer. Their goods run the gamut from housewares to clothing, books to artwork, glassware, purses, dishes and much more! I've found they tend to be on the higher quality end than more well known chain thrift stores. Everything seemed in good condition, clean and well organized. Prices are also very reasonable and they often run tag sales with extra % off certain items. It's very fun to browse and they always seem to be getting new items. You can also drop off your donations here. On my last stop in I asked about their donations policy. They simply want to be sure you drop off donations during business hours, no electronics are accepted and they will need a general idea of what's in any bags you bring in. That's all great info and I hope to bring any future donations here in lieu of having to drive to Pleasant Hill for the bigger name thrift shops. I spent some time perusing their book section, which were all in great condition and around $2. I saw quite a few more recent titles that piqued my interest Rescued Treasures is entirely run by volunteers and more recently they also do accept credit cards (previous reviews a few years ago said they did not.) I came here last week and once we entered we were greeted right away ...plenty of parking in front.. I had a very good experience here I wish I had more time to look around but we came right before closing and I still found great treasures here that I'll be reviving soon:) for a small store they had quite a big selection of furniture, house goods, pet needs and even clothing and books in the back.. I found some cute candle holders, vases, books, Christmas decors and frames ... I would definitely come back again and the workers there are very helpful and nice! read more

This is a great thrift store! It tucked way back in the shopping center at Broadway/Newell where Dunkin Donuts is, so you wouldn't know it is there. I have found some great bargains there in books, housewares and clothing. I saw a Lafayette148 cashmere sweater in great condition there the other day for around $25! If you enjoy thrifting, you have to check this place out! It is clean, and doesn't smell musty like some thrift stores! Seniors get extra discount on Wednesdays! Friendly volunteers and proceeds benefit Community Concern for Cats, which has an adoption center in the same strip mall. If you have unwanted cat food and stuff, you can drop it at the front of the store to feed homeless and community cats, which is cool. If you are shopping in Walnut Creek, go here before you go to Nordstrom and Macy's... save yourself some money and support a great cause. read more

I happened to stumble upon Rescued Treasures while taking my son to Dunkin Donuts nearby. It was early in the morning so I anxiously awaited from them to open. I can't believe I've never been inside this store before. I loved it!! I didn't feel like things were crammed together. On the contrary, clothing was nicely separated and the books were very nicely displayed! I found a few trinkets, books, a purse for my Mother in law and some shorts for me. I can't wait to go back to see what else I might discover. A huge plus is this store is run by Community Concern for Cats and all the proceeds go to homeless cats in our community. I did overhear the lady that works there telling another customer that they don't have a kids section so they're not accepting children's clothing. read more

We got there just at 5pm to drop off a donation for a nice corelle dish set, but they would not let us in to drop off. A young curly-haired blonde girl worker basically locked the door as my husband was walking up with a small box to make the donation. She looked at him through the glass door and just shook her head repeatedly. It was very rude! I typically make donations here, but I don't think they really want to help cats... We didn't have anything large or bulky and they turned us away with no apology. Whatever happened to kindness? When she left the store, she still said nothing to us as we stood there with our donation. Truly disappointed in this store and humanity. read more

Very disappointed with their pricing schemes. For those unaware, every colored tag goes on discount, depending on how long ago the items were put out. The incident that spurred this review was a pan kept behind the counter. It had a blue ticket with $100 marked. Based on the discount chart, it should have been 70% off, or $30. However, someone must have taken it upon themselves to cross out the $100 price and instead "lowered" the price to $50. When I questioned the pricing for the item, the volunteers said it was no longer a $100 Blue ticket item and was now $50 with no discount. They would not budge on the misleading pricing, but when I refused to buy it at the higher-than-originally-marked price, they did remove the blue $100 ticket, and in that way I feel like they likely understood how confusing it was. I'd even be okay if they said that items held behind the counter are exempt from the sale chats, but for the items to go on sale until the price is too low, then to reprice then HIGHER than the expected sale price, while leaving the original ticket on is very underhanded and has left me wary of shopping there in the future. The only thing preventing me from giving Rescued Treasures 1 Star is that they benefit cat rescue, which is something I strongly believe in. I will continue to donate to OTHER cat rescues, but I refuse to donate to or patronize a store that takes advantage of customers. read more

Great thrift store. Parking can be a little tight sometimes. Their old location was better. I've bought craft supplies, toys, kitchen goods, and other stuff here. They have two dressing rooms to try on clothes. Every month, they rotate which colored tags go on sale. read more

I'm pretty well established as a cat lover by my close (and even not-so-close) friends. I support rescued pets and currently have two kitties, who were both homeless when they found us. Clothing (mostly women's), home goods, tons of books, shoes, and decorative items. I left with two homemade catnip toys. $4 each. I was in a hurry and the woman behind the counter offered to pay my sales tax so that I could leave $8 and go. What?! That is really, really nice. And it was beyond thoughtful. I left $9 instead - knowing that every penny extra is going to a good cause! This is the tiny thrift store near DVC. I remember coming here with ex number 4. I bought an orange cat frame which I never used because out of the cat-crazy store, it looked very garish. It's actually so ugly that I think I threw it out because I figured no one would want it. They did have a good selection of items, but most of them have a very garage sale feel to them. They also only take cash, which I always find weird. read more

This thrift store raises funds for Community Concern for Cats (see their web site for more details). A nice medium sized thrift store. They seem to have plenty of most things, but you still feel like you're hunting for the thing you really want. Any store that has the children's book "Blueberries for Sal" is alright by me.
