Never again. I used Joy Cares for many years no issues. But then things changed. I had caregivers claiming other people were in my home giving care because the person in front of them locked 2 dogs in one kennel and other incorrect procedures. Joy decided to take side with her employees. Employees were told one dog was a resource guarded yet they just randomly threw treats on the floor which causes fights. I know what they did wrong because I have ring cameras in my house showing these issues and more. Joy doesn't care except for the money she makes. Glad I found another sitter who follows directions and cares about my animals and it's not all about the Almighty Dollar. I'm sure Joy may see this and say oh I'm lying but I have video. I've held my tongue for a while since I've used them, but I'm still aggravated with them. If you're smart don't use Joy Cares find somebody else who is reputable and cares unlike joy she does not care read more

Stay away. They can't handle one dog let alone two. The pet care person did not listen to any directions given. Instead complained profusely about both dogs despite my family explaining everything from day one. They can't handle normal dog behavior. The care attendant couldn't even stop my dog from eating sticks. Now they have the key to my house and won't return it despite numerous calls. Instead they are holding it as collateral for a debt we've never even seen as no invoice was provided. Stay away. This service will keep your property and won't return it on top of being incompetent. We will be contacting the authorities by Monday if we do not get our key back. read more

At first Joycares seemed like a very professional and capable company. They came in and did the assessment, got to know what we needed and met the dogs. We signed up for their dog walking service where the provider - Jenn would visit once a day for 30 minutes (between the hours of 10:30am - 2:30pm). She was to let them out to potty and drink water and that was it. However, already by day one the provider they assigned to us was extremely incompetent. I told her from the start my two dogs (one is a beagle, the other a husky mix) were not used to going out at the same time. Despite this she still attempted to take them out at the same time and then complained repeatedly when she encountered issues. I also disclosed on day one that my beagle was the type to eat anything he can fit in his mouth. I explained that he would need close supervision and that she would need to prevent him from consuming things he was not supposed to. I also disclosed that my mom and my mom's aide sometimes would visit my house while I was at work, but were not going to interfere with her job. She agreed and said that she could handle that with no issues. Already by the first day the Jenn had numerous issues. The note she left was full of complaints - the dogs were difficult to walk together (this after we told her they were not used to walking together). She also complained that it was hard to take both dogs out to potty and drink water during the 30 minutes she was scheduled. My dogs are both young and have never had an issue going potty especially after they have been alone for hours while I work. She was also rude to my mother and my mother's aide when they were at my house. Jenn claimed that my mother and the aide made the dogs more difficult. My mother and her aide were giving her tips and even tried to remind her that they weren't used to being walked together. The provider was rude and also left a complaint about my mom being at my house. She also did not listen to my mother and instead didn't even know how to put on their harnesses and if it wasn't for my mother's aide the dogs would have run out the front door that she left open. After all of this, more complaints were left. She worked for about 2 weeks and during those two weeks she repeatedly complained about how difficult it was. The dogs, the snow, everything was an issue. I called Joycares and extended the time to an hour and also asked my mother to not visit during the hours the lady was there. Despite numerous phone calls, texts and the extension of the time the provider continued to prove her incompetence. Within an hour she could not take the dogs out and bring them back. She also disclosed in her notes that she could not stop my beagle from eating things while outside and that she "did not know how many sticks he had eaten". Eventually I called Joycare's and complained to the office person. Their customer service is abysmal. I specifically asked for a different provider, but that was not given. Instead, as if a miracle had occurred, the next day the provider was able to do everything with no complaints or issues. This is when I decided to fire them as our sitting service. Joycares is sad cares. They are completely incompetent. The provider we had could not handle one dog let alone two. It is sad to think of how much of a risk we were putting our dogs in with a person who could not handle normal dog behavior. They also don't return your spare key (despite it being your legal property) immediately. Instead, you have to call repeatedly, leave messages with no answer and they won't return it. It's been two weeks and we still don't have our key back. So not only are they incompetent at what they do, but they also now have access to my home without my consent. read more

Every employee is kind to my dogs, and are reliable, respectful, caring and gentle. I have a dog with 3 paws and they always help to lift her into the car taking care not to hurt her.My dogs go nuts when they see one of their employees here to pick them up to drive to daycare, groomer or the vet because they are treated so well. I am so grateful to have found this service since i am home bound and have to come rely on them to help care for my babies. 10+ stars. read more

My husband and I used Joy Cares after reading reviews on them. We have a golden retriever rescue and haven't left him too many times due to the terrible life he had before we got him. I am happy to say, that when we left for 4 days, Joy Cares did a fabulous job taking care of him and we were so happy when we got home to see how happy he was. They came as often as we asked, and provided everything they said they would. I highly recommend them and will use them again for sure. It makes all the difference when you can be at ease when you must leave your pet and we were 100% at ease and happy with Joy Cares. read more

30 minute visits do NOT exist. We have a garage app that allows us to see when Amy was coming and going to visit our cat. 1 visit was 5 minutes. Another visit 8 minutes. Other two visits were 16 and 23 minutes (not bad). What's worse is that she writes these nice flowery notes that say "I pet her, brushed her, let her on the screened in porch, etc" and she writes down the 30 minute times when she's there. Complete BS and total deceit. When I confronted Joycares via email, I got a lame apology from someone other than Joy and I was not charged. Great, but complete sham if you think you're getting a 30 minute visit. I trusted this company to actually CARE and thought perhaps the name of the company meant something. NOPE. read more

My husband and I have used JoyCares on multiple trips now in the last year, upon receiving a recommendation from a neighbor who has been using them for 10+ years. We have two cats, one of which has special medical needs, and we have been so happy with the service they have provided. JoyCares met with us in our home before our first trip, met our cats, learned about how we care for them, and then put together a plan of care that made sense. Every time we return home from a trip, there is a full report of how each visit went, which is really nice to have. Once we were established customers, it has been super easy to call and schedule service. I think the prices are reasonable for the level of care they provide and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, for either cat or dog care. read more

Do not do business with this company. My family recently fired joycares after they provided abysmal customer service. We voiced our concerns that the pet care attendant, Jenn, caring for our two dogs, was unable to control them. She admitted to letting our puppy eat sticks, despite us warning her he tries to eat things. We said it would be best to give him individual, undivided attention for this reason, and said to walk our two dogs separately. Instead, Jenn repeatedly walked them together against our wishes. My family complained to the office and requested another provider. When the office failed to address our concerns, we said we would find another company and asked for our key to the house back. My family left two voicemails and spoke to someone yesterday that assured my family the key would be returned. However, today my family got a voicemail saying the key would not be returned until an "outstanding balance" was paid. There is NOTHING in the contract that says our property- i.e. the key- would be held as collateral for any debts. We have never been provided a bill for any outstanding balance!!!!! For all we know, this "bill" was fabricated after my family left a candid review about our disappointing experience with joycares. This kind of malicious behavior on joycares' part is alarming to put it mildly. So ask yourself- do you want to trust your four legged family member with a vindictive, incompetent company? We will be consulting with the police about potential petty theft. Save yourself the trouble and find another pet sitting company. read more

I used Joy Cares for approximately 5 years to pet sit my 2 cats when I lived in downtown Cleveland. Their employees are reliable, they leave detailed notes about their visits, and their rates are competitive. Having peace of mind that your animals are well taken care of when you are away is priceless and they do an excellent job. First lie, no recommendation of 1 hour visits was made to us. Nor were 1/2 hour visits recommended. We told Amy what we wanted them to do and we assumed we would be billed for however long it took. We told her that was not a problem. We were not worried about saving money. We wanted our cats cared for properly and we were willing to pay for it. Next lie, the term "short-cuts" originated with Amy, when we called during our vacation questioning how she could possibly complete the evening visit on 9/30 in 30 minutes. The evening visit was to include scooping 14 litter boxes, feeding canned cat food to 13 of the 15 cats, putting out the dry food bowls and filling them, medicating 8 of the cats and checking and filling 8 water dishes scattered throughout the house as needed. In addition to this, she was supposed to handle the outside tasks. We expected the evening visits to take from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours minimum and the morning visit from 45 minutes to 1 hour, so we were very skeptical when Amy said she had "short-cuts" that allowed her to do it in this time frame. Finally, "At the consultation and throughout all of our visits Sammie had no noticeable changes in his appearance or behavior and was not in any discomfort or distress." We saw, less than 24 hours after her last visit, that Sammie was in obvious distress. We took him to our vet at 11:30 pm Friday, October 5. He examined him and recommended we euthanize him, which we did. His condition did not deteriorate that much in less than 24 hours. When we saw him that night his left eye was sealed shut with a dried crust. After we cleaned his eye it was oozing pus. He was making a very loud noise we'd never heard from him before. He was having trouble standing on his own, let alone walking. Before we left on vacation, he was walking all over the house and climbing steps to get onto our bed which was his favorite napping place. The only time we heard him at all was when he wanted us to open a door for him. We've had other cats with renal failure and their decline was slow and gradual. We gave them subq fluids, too. (All we needed from Joy Cares was a refresher on how to administer them.) Sammie was regularly checked by our vet and his disease was stable before we went out of town. His blood pressure was also under control with the Amlodipine, so he should have had a few more months before the renal failure claimed him. He was robbed of those months and we were deprived of the company of one of our sweetest babies by the indifference and neglect of this so-called care-giver. We are not asking for any compensation. We wrote the review above to warn any other owners of pets with health issues to beware of Joy Cares. We wrote this last piece to counter some of the more egregious lies in Joy's response to our review. Perhaps when Joy started her business she did really care about the pets. It appears she now just cares about the business. Now we would not trust Joy to Care for our pet rock. read more

I recently used JoyCares while I was working out of town. My senior cat had IBD that was becoming severe and I needed her to be checked 2x a day and by someone that understands what meds are for what. JoyCares completely exceeded my expectations! When you get home there's a handwritten note for you about how your pets did and anything they may have seen (like sneezing, etc) and they're always so sweet. I had mainly the same 2 people and I appreciate that aspect too. My fearful kitten who was feral for his first 2 months is so scared of people, and seeing the same people was really good for him. Below is the letter we sent the owner after our "special" care pet had to be put down due to complete neglect while we were gone. We fired them hours before the emergency run at 11:00 PM. The manager of special care was supposed to be caring for the cat needing fluids and blood pressure medicine and swore that he was "just fine" in the morning of the day we came home and then kept changing her story to defend her lack of care. (A seven hour gap from the time we arrived home.) We found other disturbing issues after we wrote this letter. Basically the owner was defending a woman who lied about what she was not doing and ignored our directions because her "short cuts" would save us money which we did not ask for. We also had Terramycin in the house that was supposed to be used on another cat. We cleaned his eye, spoke to our Vet and used it when we saw how bad his eye was. Our Vet confirmed that the eye could not possibly had gotten that bad in 7 hours and that he was in visibly real bad shape which Amy denied. Joy backed Amy and essentially called us and our Vet liars. The cat went into complete renal failure while we were gone because he was not getting enough fluids, food or water. He was drinking, eating, getting his fluids and pooping before we left. He was scheduled for a 6 month check up in one week. Below is the letter and we have had no response from Ms. Joy: We want to thank you both, Joy and Amy, for putting the final nail in Sammy's coffin. Per our Vets, there was no way his eye got that infected in 7 hours (NO WAY). Nor did his kidneys completely fail without lack of fluids, food and water. His intestines were blocked. I caught him trying to poop and nothing but foam coming out. Some of his kidney values were off the scale they were so bad. He had a big weight drop. (He did eat for us before we left for the emergency room). At a minimum, we should have been called when the eye got infected. He needed immediate medical attention and was ignored by your staff. You had our authorization to take him to our vet without notifying us and we told you he was very old and fragile and needed special care. It appears your idea of special care is to completely ignore obvious distress. Notice he was euthanized last night. We were advised that this was the humane thing to do as he was in really bad shape as proven by the blood work and the physical exam done. Yes, he was "just fine" yesterday morning! See attached. We really appreciate Amy's money saving "short cuts"! We are not going to forget and are going to broadcast our opinion of the "expert" service of JoyDOESNOTCare and the neglect your business provides. One lies (Amy) and the other (Joy) swears to it. All the outside chores and instructions I requested were ignored. I have her on camera and I inspected. The litter boxes appeared very, very dirty when we arrived, and all were dirty which confirms to us that they were not cleaned yesterday morning. Instead my house was. We emptied all the litter boxes and used Lysol to disinfect them before we left. That 2-hour final visit by Amy was nothing more than a cover-up attempt. Some of my biggest eaters have also lost weight. Amy, shame! She half-assed all her chores inside the house. Contrast what we have to say with the attached nauseating letter Amy left us which is nothing but lies and B/S! She is going to ruin your business! My boyfriend and I used Joycares for the first time last week during our trip to Key West. We have a 1 1/2 year old Maltese who can be a bit needy at times. Our dog absolutely fell in love with Linda when she came to do the in-home consultation. I felt immediately at ease and knew that my dog was in good hands. When we returned from our trip, we were left with a detailed schedule with the times of visits and walks while we were gone and a cute note from Linda and Joy. I would definitely recommend Joycares to any dog owners who are going out of town and need a trusted person to watch their furbaby! read more
