I have always loved this place but went tonight and fish and chips were just okay (each one half burnt). Reuben or burger is the way to go! Main reason why I am commenting is the lack of fries as a side. May have just been my luck but I received 5 waffle fries as my side (seriously- 5!) but my aunt who also got waffle fries as a side to her Reuben dish came with at least twice the amount. I still have a lot of faith in this place but please tell the cooks to take notice of the amount of fries they put on a dish :) read more

Stopped in today to celebrate my sister's birthday. First off we were greeted warmly by the wait staff and seated (had a reservation). The drinks were great. We orders fried pickles and sweet chili chicken wings. What can I say, they were cooked perfectly and delicious! Highly recommend! We then ordered burgers. Tuesday as are two for one burgers. What a deal! The burgers were cooked to perfection and the wet potato fries were awesome! I know they say there's a place with the best burgers on Staten Island. We ate dinner here yesterday and it was delicious. I loved my corn beef and cabbage and my son loved his classic burger. My friend ordered the fish and chips and was also pleased with his food. I know that we are in a pandemic and I frequent this place often. The service was absolutely horrendous tonight! Our service was terrible even the table next to us got up after waiting an hour and half for two appetizers. They walked out! The waitress out loud said well it's not my fault! As they left they said it was terrible and they are at this place all the time too. As I exited, I asked to just speak to a manager to let them be aware of the situation. To my dismay the gentleman I spoke to - his answer was " I'm sorry by hey I just work here - we are short staffed". That is unacceptable to me and my family as being patrons of Joyce's for many years! I've also been in Joyce's where it is packed out - this is unacceptable and they really should be ashamed of themselves how they ran that place tonight! read more

Terrible experience! Went there yesterday for a late lunch There were 3 of us... ordered the potato pancake appetizer and I ordered the baked potato soup. We waited and waited and waited when I finally asked about it it came out five minutes later. The soup was tasteless ?? I added so much salt and pepper to it but there was no helping it The potato pancakes were okay as long as there was applesauce there I was really disappointed! I ordered a French Dip Sandwich which I asked first if the meat was rare the waitress checked in the kitchen and yes yes We'll I'm not sure what their definition of rare is but this sandwich was well done and looked like they steamed the meat it was pretty gross. I ordered from here last night and let me tell you I was pleased from the moment we ordered! My husband was recognized as a first responder and given suggestions for alternate menu items based on daily specials. We asked for our order to be ready at 4:30 for pick up and when he arrived it was promptly brought out hot and ready. Neighborhood Gem! We just moved to this area less than a year ago. I've always driven by and have seen a crowd go inside this warm and cozy looking Irish pub. I went with my husband and kids. Food was amazing. Like seriously home cooked. The burger was one of the best I've had. The bun was so light. I ordered chicken fingers for my little guy. They were homemade and not that processed kind you typically get at restaurants. The vibe was so quaint and cozy. Looking forward to going back on a night with live music. read more

I have the pleasure of living across the street from this neighborhood staple and frequent it quite often. This place is your quintessential Irish Pub. They have a small but solid menu which includes Cottage Pie (made with beef) - not to be confused with Shepherds Pie which is made with lamb. They also have daily specials which are more often than not outstanding. (If they're on the menu that day, try the mussels.) The tap beer selection is limited but always fresh and ice cold. The bartenders are super friendly and have a knack for knowing when to chat you up or just let you drink in peace. The decor looks like you may have ridden to the bar in a DeLorean, but to me that's part of the charm. I am a sucker for a good "dive bar". The highlight of Joyce's however, is the cheeseburger. Went here after a funeral the waitess did not tell me they were out of zucchini sticks after I ordered the sampler then proceeded to add multiple things into the sampler, without telling me what to replace it with. And gives me onion rings and french fries to make up for it after I said that wasn't my order and I don't need any of those things and she walked away. What a rude little girl I work in The service industry and I would never do that to anyone. You should ask what you want it replaced with.... right or wrong. They also use their workers to write good reviews based off fellow bartenders and waitresses who used to work there. If you can't get your own good reviews don't pay your workers to write them. We are new in town and looking for a nice Irish pub. I had chicken Marsala and my wife had the Corn Beef. Both were excellent choices. I even ate my spinach. The beer menu is limited. Came with some buddy's for a quick beer last week. Asked the bartender if they have an ipa he said no. But their were cans of Guinness nitro IPA on the wall... Guess he didn't know. Just had a fabulous meal at Joyces Tavern. Their cheeseburgers and ribs are excellent. The meat on the ribs just falls off the bone. I had the chicken pot pie which was encapsulated in a bread tureen. It was served piping hot and it was delicious. Gooey gooey cannoli eggrolls for dessert with delicious chocolate topping. It's a very warm and pleasant atmosphere. The owner Joseph O'Toole is a big friendly guy with a fabulous smile. This is a great place to come to for some drinks some appetizers or a fabulous meal. read more

Went tonight bc I've heard they have good bar/pub food. The food was eh. Nothing special. Lacked flavor. My husband got corned beef platter and it looked extremely flavorless. Once he tasted it he confirmed it was. The pic they show here in Yelp is def NOT what you get. They didn't even try to strain the cabbage/potatoes so the dish had so much water on it. I had a cheesesteak wrap...meat was grey almost as if they grill wasn't hot and they just quickly cooked it on a warm grill. Or it was reheated. Probably won't ever go back. Only positive thing is that the prices are reasonable. But I'd rather pay a few more $$$ and get better food. Looks like I'm trekking to W's next time we want a quick casual bar meal read more
