Very friendly atmosphere where the food and service is always on point must try the prime rib night

I really wanted to like this place because the food itself was good, but unfortunately the overall experience was one of the worst I've had at a restaurant. We visited on a Monday night and took advantage of their burger, wings, and beer special, which was an excellent deal. We also asked to sit outside because we have a newborn, and the staff had no issue accommodating us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. There were people smoking at the outdoor tables immediately next to us while others were eating and drinking. They were also very close to the entrance and the food service area, which I believe is not permitted under New York law. It made for a very unpleasant dining experience. There was no music or TV on for almost our entire visit, making the atmosphere feel dull. They were only turned on shortly before we left. Service was extremely slow and inattentive. Our water glasses were dirty, our waiter rarely checked on us, and, most frustratingly, our food took nearly three hours to arrive. We later learned there was only one cook working that evening, but no one ever came over to explain the delay or apologize. To make matters worse, we watched several parties seated inside after us order, eat, pay, and leave before our food even arrived. It's disappointing because the burger and wings were actually very good. However, good food alone isn't enough to overcome poor service, long waits, lack of communication, and an uncomfortable dining environment. Unfortunately, despite enjoying the food, we won't be returning. A restaurant is about the entire experience, and this establishment fell far short of expectations. read more

The restaurant is broken down into two separate sections: the bar and the more intimate dining area. We opted to sit in the more quiet and intimate dining area, which had a nice fire place and beautiful Christmas decor to give off a warm family vibe. Our waitress, Jessica, went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful first dining experience at The LocaL, where she addressed our minor concerns and socialized with us in a welcomed and extremely friendly manner; Jessica is reflective of what exemplary service looks like and she definitely helped enhance our overall dining experience! Now onto the food: the is by far one of the most affordable restaurants I've been to in Staten Island, where the portion and quality for the price is definitely worth it. The French onion soup and Picasso burger were both phenomenal and I can't recommend it enough! The zucchini fries were humongous for the price (as you can see in the photo) and totally filling! A minor issue we encountered were that the price from the menu mismatched the price on our receipt, a few days were either a dollar or two less or a dollar or two more, so check your bill! Will definitely come back to try their extensive menu for I'm sure there are still so much more deliciousness to be discovered here! We went for brunch. The food is okay, but not great. It doesn't seem freshly hand prepared. The drinks were good and plentiful. It wasn't terribly crowded, but it was loud and difficult to talk. The waitstaff seemed overworked, but they were kind and friendly. The value is good if you have a few drinks. read more

The name says it all. Nice local hangout with fresh, clean, quiet dining area. The food was AMAZING.... Strongly recommend wings and the Lobster Fra Diavolo. Came here for darts. Dart boards are in the back room which is great for the leagues. As each table is for a team. One server for the whole night which was great cause he came by very often. The food they served us wasn't bad at all. I haven't been to the restaurant side of it yet, but it seemed full for a Tuesday night for dinner. read more

Excellent, a hidden gem on Staten Island, the week staff was wonderful. The food selections were abundant and hearty, something for everyone. Drinks were strong and the food came in a very timely manner, which is very important to hungry people like me. I definitely recommend it and I would definitely go back, I hear they have a fantastic lunch, I'll have to check that out also. read more

Came here for early dinner w my sister (make rsvps since they are only doing outdoor seatings right now). They have the Wednesday special which is a whole lobster with mash/veggies for $21. We also ordered a HH appetizer, the pepper jacks famous steak tips served w blue cheese and some carrots/celeries. We enjoyed our meal and topped it off with a lemon mascarpone layered cake which was SO good!!! Definitely ended our meal right. Our female hostess was good, only complaint is probably not getting water filled often thru out our time there. A male server did oddly ask us if we were done with our appetizer when there was clearly still half of those steak tips left. But aside from that, great spot! read more

We entered through the bar which was jammed (no spacing at all!). I'm not overly paranoid about it but I had to actually push through people to get to the dining room. We were greeted quickly at sat at a comfortable booth. Service was friendly and efficient. Drinks were reasonably priced and well made. The food was just okay. It was overpriced, in my opinion. The seating area also seemed tight. I went with my family, and the vibe of the restaurant was more date night (dim lights, soft music). The manager or owner (never introduced himself to us) walked around and was greeting guests but skipped our table, which was right in the middle of the restaurant. I found that very weird. read more

If I can give this restaurant 10 stars I would. I have dined in many fine restaurants all over New York City and this place is always amazing! The food is great, they have a selective menu and are very service oriented. They also have live music at the bar, so the place has atmosphere and is very lively. I absolutely love this place! The food is really good and the service is great! We always order the steak tips and shrimp with grand marniere sauce (although I haven't seen the shrimp appetizer in a while - it's a special). In regards to drinks, I always order one of the sangrias and it never disappoints. I have yet to taste something in the menu which I don't like. It gets better after 9pm - there are live bands and the atmosphere in the place changes (lively and fun). read more

I'm leaving this not to deter others from going, but more for the restaurant manager to revisit the menu. We ordered take out. It was $50 for two burgers and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks are actually egg roll wraps around the cheese losing that layer of flavor in the breading. The ration of cheese to wrap too is hard to swallow. The impossible burger was good (premade vegetarian patty), but my husband got a regular burger. It had zero seasoning at all. It was literally ground meat in a round shape. The onion rings also have a beer batter with zero seasoning. Overall I'd just ask that they speak with the head chef to actually season the food. It massively lacked in flavor. read more

My family celebrated my mom's 79th birthday last night and everything couldn't have been better!!! Service (as always) was superb. Appetizers and diners were fabulous but the extra desert they threw in for mom my was exceptional!!! This restaurant is always in the top 5 GO TO restaurants in NYC as far as I am concerned!!! My daughter-in-law's baby shower luncheon was held at The Local yesterday and I have only great things to say about the venue, the staff and the food. They have two lovely party rooms and were so accommodating in every way, even though some aspects of my plans were a little out of the box. Everyone enjoyed the food (sit down, although there is a buffet option) - we had their perfect Caesar salad, penne vodka, and a choice of a chicken, beef of fish entree. My son and other family members and friends had a guys party in the bar all afternoon, and were treated very well by Joe, the owner. Thank you to Joe and everyone who made our event so special. Not sure what happened to the menu here. We went for lunch and didn't see a lunch menu. Ordered mozzarella sticks that came wrapped in egg roll type dough. They were awful. No seasoning. Also ordered zucchini sticks. Them came piled on a plate like they were just tossed on there. No presentation. Greasy, just not good. Such a shame. We used to enjoy the sandwiches and drinks here. Service was very good, waiter was extremely attentive. Food was okay, except for iodine shrimp... But the major complaint, the shot glass of a Manhattan drink that was served. My father ordered a Manhattan and he's had many of them before and has never seen such a small drink. He NEVER is one to complain when dining out, but he was absolutely disgusted and asked the waiter for another, except he was disappointed in the size and asked if he can have one in a "normal" size glass. The waiter comes back with another Manhattan, this time served right and in a "normal" size glass for a cocktail. My dad was appreciative and happy with his second drink. Until he got the bill. He was charged for BOTH drinks at $11 a piece. This is not a disgruntled customer trying to give a restaurant a bad review for no reason, but instead a customer that you've lost because of poor customer service. read more

Family ate here in between wake services. Service was fast, menu simple nothing to rave about has a full sErvice bar . The chef came out to greet and thank us for dining in his establishment which was very nice gesture. read more
