Just so happened she had an opening- and when I tell you- this experience was so beautiful- from the scalp massage- color red light therapy- wash with scented towel- hand massage and final product of my style. I had a very disappointing experience at Joyez Salon Spa. I went in for a keratin treatment in 2025 with the specific goal of loosening my curls, not removing them completely. I clearly communicated this before the service. After my original stylist left the salon, I was placed with another stylist who did not seem familiar with the keratin process. The owner even had to step in and explain parts of the treatment to her during my appointment. When it came time for the flat-ironing stage, the process was done incorrectly. After the treatment was shampooed out, my curls were completely gone and my hair was left flat and straight--nothing like what I asked for. I was extremely upset seeing the result, and I left the salon in tears because my natural curls were gone. What has been even more frustrating is that my hair is still not the same. It has been almost a year since the treatment, and my hair is still affected. I have had to cut inches off trying to remove the damaged portions caused by the treatment. It has been a long and upsetting process, and my curls have still not fully returned the way they used to be. While the salon apologized, there was no real solution offered, and I was still required to pay for the service despite the clear miscommunication and mistake. I hope the salon ensures their stylists are properly trained for specialized services like keratin treatments and that client expectations are taken more seriously in the future. read more

I am so incredibly blessed that I found this salon for my daughter! Let me give you the back story - I scheduled a braid session with another stylist that was an entrepreneur who braided out of her home. I showed up for my daughter's scheduled appointment and the stylist canceled on me on the spot when I arrived at her home. Long story short, I was beyond disappointed and still wanted to attempt to get my daughters hair braided. Thankfully, I was given this salons number by the personal trainer and took a chance at booking a same day appointment. By the grace of God, Joyez Salon had an appointment so I took it. We met Crystal White and she did an amazing job oh my daughters hair. She did 2 Dutch braids with the mermaid hair we had purchased for her braids. So loving and professional and very kind! Fast forward 5 months and we book a curly cut with Crystal...beyond happy with the service and the outcome!! The whole salon is so welcoming and inviting and they really do care about their clientele! My baby is happy with her hair and I know we have a salon home to go to for all her hair services! My mom took my baby for this last appointment and now my mom is scheduling an appointment for herself! Please book a service at this salon!! They feel like family and are truly gifted!! read more

My mother went to the salon for a follow-up cut (she's gone there a couple of other times with decent results). She had a cut with Adrienne and this experience was not very good. Adrienne didn't go through all the steps the other stylists had gone through (such as sponge rolling the curls) nor did she take her time to make sure the cut came out well. In the end the cut is very uneven, patchy, and my mother paid nearly twice as much as she usually does for it because she had an appt with Adrienne. Will not be going back. While I think this salon is good for longer hair styles, it's not consistent for short hair, which is surprising considering she also has short natural hair. My sister also experienced this kind of service here over a year ago and has gone to a barber ever since. My sister's had much better experiences there. read more

I'm ONLY giving them that 1 star because I had to in order to review it. Just like the previous writer wrote, I should've hauled butt when I saw red flags. This stylist Adrienne Valasquez is sooooo unprofessional. I went to her around August of last year for a sew in. I took my extensions to her 3 days prior to my appointment so she could dye them jet black to match my hair. Ok, so I went in the morning of my appt. which was scheduled for 9am. I arrived at 8:45 because I don't like being late to my appointments. She didn't arrive until 9:15 (first red flag). At around 9:45 she started on my hair. Her braid pattern was so sloppy. She didn't even part my hair for the braids, she was just grabbing and whatever she grabbed, was braided in that braid. She also used spritz as she was braiding (yea, I know) -second red flag. At about 10am, the other stylist that works in there with her came in and they began gossiping about the previous stylist who had worked there but was apparently fired a week before. The conversation came up because the stylist had items still left in the salon that Adrienne Valsquez didn't want to return to her so she had called the cops to get her things the night before my appointment. I didn't judge because I didn't know the full story behind the other stylist. So, fast forward to 10:45. Her shop phone was forwarded to her cell phone but her cell phone was malfunctioning so she wasn't receiving any phone calls. She sent the other stylist across 1604 to the AT&T store to try and see what was wrong with the phone. The stylist wasn't able to get it fixed because her name wasn't on the account. So what does Adrienne do?!?! She has me wait there in the chair in her salon while she goes across the highway to the AT&T store. I waited for her for approximately 30 minutes to return- (Third red flag). When she finally got back at 11:45. She grabbed my extensions and unravelled them. I noticed that they weren't jet black. They were still natural brown (which is the same color I brought them in to her as). I expressed to her that I was not happy with the way the color came out. She insisted she could make them black after they were applied. She started sewing in my extensions and she was dragging my hair all over the floor and stepping on it as she went. When I get sew ins, the tracks are always doubled for fullness. She did not double the track and ensured me it would be full. When she was done applying the extensions, she applied HAIR DYE to my extensions! Omg!!! I was so shocked. I didn't know how she had planned on fixing the color and I didn't notice she was applying hair dye in my hair until she was at the top portion of my head. I told her that there was no way she'd be able to get that hair dye completely out of my hair and I was right. Even after her trying that ghetto technique, my extensions were still natural brown and my sew in was drenched with water. I immediately felt the braids the tracks were sewn on to and they were loose, as if I had had the extensions for about three weeks. I was livid!!! I ended up wasting $200. After I got home and my husband saw it, he laughed. I then began texting her about how unhappy and unsatisfied I was and do you know that unprofessional heifer didn't even try to fix the problem?!?! I'll never everrrrrrr go back to her again and I would NOT recommend anyone go to her. She doesn't know how to do hair... Take heed! read more

This is my fault. I missed the red flags. When I got into the salon the client that was just finishing seemed unhappy and kept requesting her to alter the style. Another client didn't seem too thrilled with her hair either. I tried this salon at the suggestion of a friend. All I needed was a trim. I wanted to get a trim without getting my hair pressed out. I think it's important to note I have, or excuse me, had my hair cut into the shape I wanted where the top was longer and the back was a little shorter. i expressed to the stylist I wanted to keep that because I like it even all the way around when it's down. When I walked into this salon I had a very nice sized puff. All of my hair went into a ponytail and made an extremely nice puff. When I left this salon a ponytail was no longer in my arsenal of hairstyles. Also, the shape I had was gone! She had taken the shorter part in the back and made all of the air that length. So not only was the style I had no more neither was at least a year and a halfs worth of growth. She did not listen to what I requested she simply did her own thing. I will never set foot back into this salon. OH! Not only did she tear my hair up what's even worse is that it's uneven....the left side of my hair is 1/2 inch shorter than the right side. I don't have any experience with Adrienne only with Katrina. From what I understand Adrienne (suites 106 & 107) and Katrina (suite 108) combined businesses and work out of the 3 suites together. I made my appointment with Katrina for a Brazilian Blowout as she was a B.B. certified styler. I did not see Adrienne, only Katrina. I have really complicated hair, 2 colors with highlights and lowlights and it's thick and course and curly and there's just a lot of it. So my story is that I have been looking for "my hair person" for a long time here in San Antonio. The city is so big and there are so many salons the choices were overwhelming! And then even when you do get a good service at a salon, what are the chances of that person being there the next time you go? I have been frustrated with this for years. But I think I finally found "my hair person"! Katrina is awesome! I was there just today. She fixed my botched color job (that I did to myself, lol) and then did my Brazilian Blowout. Love it, love her, it was great. She is personable, friendly, takes her time to take care of you and her prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be going back! read more

I went to get my hair done with katrina as she always would only cut my hair. Finally decided to get color done. HUGE mistake. She asked the other stylist that also shared the room with her Adrienne "if you were to do this what color would you use?" (Showing her the pic that I brought in.) She does the color. Didn't look at all like the picture. I Go home and my bf says it doesn't look good. I give it a few days but during those few days i wore a cap. I called her she tells me well yes we were going to do a 2nd session. More money to damage my hair! Few days pass and it doesn't look any better. I tell her no this doesn't look good at all. To this day my hair is still dry and damaged from the highlights. I am still beyond upset and its been a while since this happened. My poor hair is not the same. read more
