After my favorite Hibachi Steakhouse in Alpharetta closed in 2016 I stopped going out to eat Japanese food until my girlfriend in 2019 recommended that I try JP Sushi in Roswell, GA. JP Sushi is just a couple of miles down the road from us but I'd never seen it because it is tucked away behind a Waffle House on Holcomb Bridge Road in a small strip mall that doesn't look like much. Well let me tell you JP Sushi is terrific! Their Steak Teriyaki Dinner is delicious especially with their fried rice. Their tempura appetizers are scrumptious. I am generally not big on seafood unless I'm on the shore but I have tried their Snapper and their Ahi Tuna and let me tell you it is FRESH seafood and it is expertly prepared. No wonder local sushi connoisseurs love it here. The only thing that rivals the food here is the service. The chefs and servers are wonderful hosts. I highly recommend JP Sushi. read more

Great service and great food! My fiance and I came on a friday night and were extremely happy with our service. First off, you get a free sample of friend snapper that is off the hook. We ordered multiple rolls of sushi which came out in an efficient manner, we didn't wait too long! The rolls were filling and tasted great, very comparable to any other great sushi place. At the end of the meal you also get slices of orange that are cut up and arranged very beautifully. Parking was super easy, they have a lot of spaces out front. I finally stopped in for lunch on 10/26/18 with a co-worker of mine. Upon walking in, I was impressed by how busy and authentic it felt with the hustle and bustle at the sushi bar. Our server immediately greeted us and we asked her opinion on favorites from the menu. We normally order rolls but decided on a steak and a shrimp bento box - for $1 extra we upgraded to fried rice. The bento boxes don't disappoint - wow! (see photo). I know it doesn't look like a lot of steak but the price - $12.95 for all of that - can't be beat. Both of us had leftovers (the fried rice is an impressive portion) We also noted that the miso soup was our favorite when compared to any other locales we visit and I would say the same for the ginger dressing. Was driving past and saw JP pop up on yelp so I decided to stop by. I was craving sushi and it's rated well enough. When I came it was a quiet with a kind of diner layout to it. I was seated right away and the staff was very pleasant and dressed in kimonos. I sat down and ordered and they brought me a free sample of tempura shrimp. It was quite good which made me feel better about my choice. The sushi came quickly and again it was quite good. After dinner but before bringing me my check, the staff again surprised me by bringing me a free desert of oranges which was very good and an excellent end to my meal and visit here. I highly recommend coming here if you are in the mood for good sushi and a pleasant staff. read more

Kitchen produces consistent food of flash fried tempura, hibachi, yakisoba and sushi chef creates freshest sashimi, nigiri sushi and rolls that melt in your mouth. Wait staff is always friendly and my favorite staff Lee's attention goes above and beyond. A quality lunch place with coworkers or girlfriends and also a family-friendly Japanese joint in the neighborhood. The salmon was really good, tempera was also good, but my California roll and nigiri was really off. The California roll for some reason tasted like it literally came from the trash can. My husband wanted sushi for dinner last Friday. SUSHI! The man who cringes at the sight of sushi wanted it for a meal. I thought maybe he was sick or gone crazy. JP sushi is the closest sushi place to us, so we maneuver our way into their parking lot and head inside. There is a large bar right as you enter the restaurant. To the left is the hostess stand. The kitchen is in the back and to the right. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken. Like others have mentioned, this place is pretty bare. Not much pizzazz to the place. Almost everything in the restaurant serves a purpose and isn't there for decoration. But that's okay, I'm a pragmatic gal myself! We looked at the menu online so ordering wasn't a problem. I got a classic Philly roll, he got the Tempura Shrimp roll and we split the Yammy Yammy roll. I guess the kitchen was getting backed up because my husband commented that it was taking a long time for our food. Being new to sushi, I told him the wait time so far was normal. Then we waited some more. Our server then brought up complimentary tempura red snapper and apologized for the wait. And then our food arrived! The presentation isn't something you'd see on Chopped, but it looked good nonetheless. We each had small bowls and plates for sauces. Overall, I enjoyed the sushi. It's a giant step above grocery-store quality, but under Nori Nori. For my husband, who's just getting into sushi, this is a great place for him to try different rolls without breaking the bank. He discovered he doesn't like the raw tuna that's placed on top of some of the rolls and he tried digging out the avocados. It's a work in progress. I would definitely come here again to fix my sushi cravings. read more

As usual, I'm fairly easy to please. Stopped in here because I was in the neighborhood and needed a decent lunch. I was by myself. It's not cheap sushi, but it was good and well sliced and presented. I had a $13.95 sushi lunch special which came with a regular lettuce salad with some good japanese dressing and a fairly typical, which means I like it, white miso soup, plus I ordered a little dry sake mini drink that was pretty goo.. I was actually able to end my meal with some fresh uni, which surprised me that they'd have it. I like uni (it's sea urchin, and tastes like crab fat, for those who haven't eaten it before). This is a solid local sushi establishment with a reasonably priced, no-frills menu and dining area. It's tucked back in a shopping center at the intersection of Old Alabama and Holcomb Bridge, and I probably never would have even noticed it if my coworkers hadn't wanted to come here last Friday. When it comes to sushi, I don't like a bunch of fancy sauces, spicy mayos, cream cheeses, crunches and what-have-you. So things like the "Electric Dynamite Explosion Roll" or the "Glorious Fire Dragon Blessing Roll" are right out. JP Sushi has one roll on the menu named the "Atomic Bomb" which raised a few eyebrows among my lunch associates. Odd choice of nomenclature on that one! If a sushi restaurant can execute well on a basic tuna/salmon/eel roll, and deliver a fresh product without too much filler, I'm a happy customer. My colleagues all ordered lunch specials that came with soup and salad, but I opted to just order a la carte from the sushi menu: one tuna roll, one avocado roll. The sushi was served quickly and without an overly elaborate presentation. It was fresh and tasty with a good ratio of fish to rice. Nothing mind-blowing here, but a decent meal of sushi for a reasonable price. I wouldn't go out of my way to return to JP Sushi but I wouldn't avoid the place either. I'll get the only down sides out of the way first. Service was not extremely attentive although they did seem short-staffed and the place was packed. Also, the kid's meal came out about 10 minutes before our meal did which resulted in a bored kid while we were still trying to eat. Now for everything else. It is not very appealing from the outside. And the inside is okay, but still not a ton of effort put into making a warm and inviting decor. Feels like half sushi restaurant and half sports bar. We were sat quickly... by the busser. The hostess was off delivering food and motioned to him to take care of us. It was a little while before someone took our drink orders, and that's kind of how the whole meal went. All the staff was very nice and polite though. The kid's bento box was very cute. It has a portion of meat, a portion of rice, a portion of salad, and an orange cut up in a cute way. He really enjoyed it. We ordered edamame. It was good, but how can you mess up edamame? Both our rolls were good. My roll was a little bland, but it was my fault because I made a bad choice. My girlfriend ordered the volcano roll and what little bit she allowed me to have was delicious. She has a horrible knack of picking better rolls than I do. I should let her start ordering for me, but just at sushi restaurants. Overall, they provided great service for what they were working with, but I still have to take away a point. read more
