How can something that's already delicious get better? Well that answer is to come to the original location and enjoy the delicious pizza where it all started! This is the best Chicago style pizza I've ever had hands down the flavors are there and I must say they don't just stop there as the crust is perfect super crispy flavorful and just too darn good! Combine that with the toppings cheese and sauce it's a pizza that you will start to crave again and again! We went with sausage, meatballs, and onions all of which were super yummy toppings that just hit the spot for this pie to make an incredibly delicious pizza like how can you go wrong! You know I love pizza. Pequod's has been on my bucket list for a long time and I finally got to go while I was in the Chicago Burbs on a Friday for a late lunch. We ordered pepperoni with well done crust. The pizza is delicious. Nice crisp lacy caramelized bits along the outer edge. Very generous with the pepperoni. The service absolutely sucked. I went half my meal with no drink refill after asking twice with the dining room only 2/3 filled. I burnt my mouth on the pizza and couldn't get a drink refill to cool it off. This certainly was an interesting experience. A friend of mine had told me that this place felt like going to a restaurant in a house, which really confused me. When we got there I saw that he was exactly right. This is right in the middle of a residential area and these people who can just open their front door and walk a few steps to some Pizza are living the dream. The building is pretty small for the amount of people that they squeeze in there. But they were extremely accommodating with us and squeezing in some extra people at our table, which was much appreciated. We had a reservation, which was 100% the right move for how busy this place gets. I had done some research on what their pizza was like so I wasn't surprised when I saw the crust, which some people might think is burnt but it is not. Instead it is caramelized. It was definitely interesting and unlike other versions of Chicago Deep Dish I have tried. The sauce was also quite good. If I'm being 100% honest, this wasn't my favorite Deep Dish I had while in Chicago but it was definitely in the top contenders. read more

We got there right at opening, and I'm glad we did. 30 minutes later, there was a line waiting. The place is tiny and funky, but clean. Service was quick and nice. We got poppers and a deep dish pizza. The poppers are made there, and they were much better than what you usually get. The pizza is next level. The crust was some of the best I've ever had. I don't do a ton of deep dish, but this is now at the top of my list. Next time, I'd order a little differently though. We went overboard on toppings but that's my fault. Came here to try Pequod's Pizza and I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. We didn't have one and ended up waiting about 30 minutes. The place itself is pretty small and has an older vibe (I think it's one of their original locations). The pizza was good, don't get me wrong, but I personally didn't get the crazy hype around it. Was at the location by DePaul last time so we came here this time! Much more of a cozier feel. Tighter spaces between tables and not as well lit. Kind of a lodge/cabin vibe. To start, we ordered the Caesar salad and app sampler which came with mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and jalapeños. We got two large pizzas: one that was all veg and another that was all meat. For 6 of us, it was a lot of food. Should've gotten a medium or one pizza to share with different toppings on each half. Beautiful burnt crust. And it's more bready than cheesy which I prefer. In the great deep dish competition, I'd probably put Pequod's in the middle of the pack, but it was still a great deep dish and the salad was awesome. They are super generous in the toppings (about $5 per protein topping and $3 for veggie toppings), but light on sauce and cheese. A bar with draft beer and 2 big screen TVs running sports make this an eatery with Chicago personality. Wait staff move fast, taking care of business with a great attitude. As an out-of-towner with family in the area, a few of us ate a Pequod's last year and were blown away. When we had new folks with us this year, we insisted they try this spot! Make sure you get reservations - it will make your experience much smoother. We ordered two cheesy garlic breads, one large pizza, and one medium pizza for our group of six at the suggestion of our server. It was WAY too much food. The sauce on the pizza and the dough is unmatched, providing great flavor. However, we felt the medium pizza (pepperoni) tasted better than the large pizza (pepperoni & mushroom) - maybe just because of the sauce ratio differences. I have not been to Pequod's for several years and the place has not changed. On a Monday night, reservations were required. We made on online and glad we did, because there was not one empty table. This location is the original and was established in 1970. It is small, cozy, and is neighborhood joint that has not changed since its opening. We started with the Pequod's salad which was enough to share. It was a classic salad with slices of pepperoni, carrots, mushrooms and shaved parmesan. The pan style pizza took about 40 minutes , but ut was worth the wait. The crust was carmelized and has not changed over the years. It was served in a cast iron pan and was piping h0ot. The sausage was our favorite. It had chunks of sausage , supposedly from a local butcher. They also serve Pequod's IPA brewed by Spiteful Brewery. First time here. It was tempting to go to their Chicago location, but we opted for here. Luckily, we were here around 2pm (weekday). Their lounge is tiny, and it quickly got crowded. My guess is with the pizza wait (30-35 minutes) and people eating and drinking (another 45 minutes), you'll be waiting for a table. The pizza was good. Thanks to booking on OpenTable through Google, our corner table was already set and waiting for us. They have a nice draft and tap beer list with several local options. My kids each ordered the Half Spaghetti, but "half" is misleading cuz the portions were huge! Both had plenty left over, and the meatballs in it were the size of stress balls- delicious ones! For the grown-ups, we split a medium Pan Pizza (their name for Chicago-style deep dish) with pepperoni. Medium is a lie. This thing could feed a small village! The caramelized, blackened edges on the crust were phenomenal, and even split three ways we still had major leftovers because it's filling af. Service was excellent! After years from hearing from others to try Pequods, I finally made the trek here. I heard it gets packed, so came in between the lunch and dinner rush. I highly recommend doing that. As others say, parking is tight. We parked across the street and dang people speed down the street. Also, I recommend your party to have 1 to 4 people. The restaurant is very cramped. Service- One person was taking all of the orders and getting all of the drinks. She had some help with running food. Plan on at least 40 minutes for your pan pizza. Pricing - fair They were out of their pequod's ipa but they do have a large selection of craft beer. Now to the pizza. It was only ok to me, didn't live up to the hype. Pequod's had been on my list for a long time! Got to knock it off the list and try one of their pan pizzas last week. First of all, the OG spot is cool. Its like a little wooden house, very small, probably seats 30? They have a private room in the back or something, too (someone was having a birthday party while I was there). I went with a small sausage pizza. How was it? Sausage Pizza- When this thing came out, it looked great. It had HUGE pieces of sausage on it! You could see the burnt cheese crust around the pan, and the sauce looked vibrant. They serve you your first piece. I bit in, and got the sausage first. It was good! I noticed right away though that the cheese was like lukewarm. I could physically see steam coming off the pizza, I know it was cooked fresh, I know it was "hot", but it wasn't as hot (temperature wise) as I had liked. The cheese crust was nice and crispy. We heard about Pequod's pizza from some friends. We decided to try it out while in the Chicago area. Ordered hotel delivery the first night and found the pizza to be very good. The following day we drove to actual location there in Morton's Grove. Not being from the area we weren't sure how to order the frozen pizza's to take back home. We were there about 15 min before they opened (didn't even realize this), but instead of just ignoring us they were very accommodating and still made the sale. The crust is by far the best I've had cooked to perfection with the best crunch. The facility is cozy and very clean. There is some sort of info all around the place and our server Lynn was so kind and told us a lot about the history of the place and that the man in the photo on the wall next to us was the owner. She had such great things to say about him. We asked what she recommended and proceeded to place our order. We ordered fried zucchini which was tasty, but I feel there should have been a few more pieces for the price. Then we enjoyed the deep dish sausage and pepperoni and a thin cheese pizza to go. Lynn stopped by while I was about finished with my piece and asked if I liked ranch dressing, I do, and she suggested I dip the crust into the ranch and try it. I've heard of this staple of "Chicago Pizza" for years, being in the outskirts of Chicagoland doesn't always give me the opportunity to come check out these iconic places. I had no idea this was basically like an old home converted into a restaurant or at least that's what it looks like at first glance. Looks like it's been that way for decades by the looks of it, literally at the south end of a neighborhood in Morton Grove. Walking into it just reminds me of an old school bar and fairly small, the actual bar has literally like 4 stools. The service was great and very attentive courtesy of Stefanija. I came to order the staple right, the pan pizza! I ordered a half cheese and half pepperoni and jalapeño pizza. Being that I'm Mexican you can guess which was my side. It was very very tasty with lots of pepperoni and pickled jalapeños. It was like a medium deep dish is how I would describe it as far as the thickness of the crust. The only thing I would say is that the pepperoni on top could've been crispier but flavor wise it was great. We also ordered some chicken tenders and some fries, the tenders were very mid like the frozen tenders you throw in the air frier...not top tier tenders at all. The fries were perfectly crispy which I enjoyed more than usual. You can tell the place probably gets packed on a Friday and Saturday night just because of how small it is. I'd say there's probably like 10 tables maybe plus the couple seats at the bar. I would come back and I would love to try a tavern style(thin crust) pizza and see how well they do that. I give this place 4/5 stars it's not a 5 just because of the missing crispy pepperoni and just because it's not very comfortable at a two seat table not very much room. A whale with panties on its head? How can it be bad, right? Holy crap this was some good pizza. They're supposedly known for their crusts and the "burnt" caramelized cheese that doesn't taste burnt. The personal size was perfect as you get MORE of that black edge than a larger slice. Plus, trying to get multiple people to agree on pizza toppings is the worst! This was recommended by some locals and it did not disappoint. I also had the Pequod Salad (small) which had lots of goodies inside. Their house Italian dressing was great. But a quick search of the internets found the "other" Pequod's location in Morton Grove, a quick drive away. Get the keys! The standard order, a large deep dish pepperoni to go. A satisfying end to a long day in the 'burbs, sitting in a hotel room, watching mindless television and chewing on Pequod's. It can be a lot worse. The only downside is that carry-out doesn't have the same feel as in-house dining - the pizza was a little cooler, so no cheese-pull.
