I'm giving this five stars because the food is really really good. The ambience however could use some work. It's one very big room with very bright lights. The service was good. The young waitress who served us was very pleasant, but she spoken a very quiet voice. She was hard to hear. The prices were reasonable. And I would definitely go back again.

The food was great and the service was courteous and fast. Went door dinner on Friday night and had no wait for seating. The serving sizes might not quite as large as what an average American restaurant might serve, but we had several appetizers as well (highly recommend!) and combined it was perfect.

I first ate at J's kitchen when it was still at the mall. I had chicken adobo and liked it. Today was my first visit to its own restaurant and ordered chicken curry with a Taro drink recommended by my friendly server. Food and drink were very good. The curry sauce was, as advertised, both sweet and spicy. The chicken chunks were tender. The Taro drink kept giving me throat freeze, though, so finishing my meal took a bit. I walked in shortly after 11am. I was the first sit-down customer. I like the pastel purple interior and the space (I remember when this was the Beef Baron in the 1980s). My window seat was very comfortable. A radio station was playing in the background. Got to listen to a Tracy Chapman song. Crowds started coming in an hour later as I was leaving.

    Halo halo

Wonderful customer service! The lady was so kind, and accommodating. The food was amazing. Had the chicken adobo. Lumpia tastes just like home. And topped it off with a halo halo! (It was really good! They do use regular milk and not evaporated milk.)

Yum! This was my first time having Filipino food and I am impressed. The restaurant is clean and neat and nicely decorated with purple accents. The owner/cook was on site and was greeting everyone and checking on us without feeling pushy. Food portions are decent and the fruit drinks are fantastic. The pancit pala ok had more of a fishy taste than expected so we won't get that one again. We were treated a nice orange sorbet after our meal. I don't know if that was a Father's Day special or a regular treat.

This is a hard review to write, because as much as I want to support local small businesses, I feel like my first time dining in was an absolute disaster. They have a very large dining space with purple and white decor everywhere. It was very clean. We came in for the dinner buffet which seems to change times and dates frequently - to me this isn't something I like about a restaurant. I prefer consistency with operating hours and knowing what type of food I'm going to have if I am going to take my family out to a restaurant (especially nowadays with everything so expensive). The inconsistency of restaurants here is a huge reason why they fail, we never know when they're open and what they're offering because their menu changes so often. I understand everyone has a family and a life, but you should hire trusted employees so that you stay consistent. We showed up at 5:30 Friday night for their buffet and they had two servers for the entire dining hall. They all looked incredibly flustered and it took us 45 minutes just to get water for our kids. The food was good, not exceptional, but fine. The options were quite limited for their dinner buffet but we were happy to see pancit and the pork belly. I was pretty disappointed they didn't have adobo chicken for their buffet, but the garlic shrimp was delicious. Our children are under 3 so they should have been free, but the server charged us for each one of them in her flustered state. She did fix the mistake but couldn't refund me so she had to pay me back in cash? It was all very strange. We often order takeout from them and it seems like we will continue doing that since they can't properly staff themselves for dinner. There was an employee just standing there in the middle of the bar who could have been helping the servers at least give guests their drinks, but she just stood there and smiled at everyone instead of working or helping out. Just seemed super unorganized. I wish them the best but they do need to learn how to operate a dining room and guest experiences.

    Sisig fries. To die for!

The sisig frys are to die for! They even put in the extra time and effort to cut holes in the top of the takeout container so it stays crispy. I will definitely be back for more.

Living in a small town there aren't many options for good eats! I was craving some pancit and lumpia and wasn't to sure where to go! I was recommended to J's Kitchen and I'm so happy that I did because it was absolutely amazing! I will be back!

I still go there every now and again, cause I like the food and that girl doesn't work there anymore. I haven't seen her for months.

Very delicious and traditional Filipino food. I had chicken adobo and lumpia. Definitely good service and good pricing.

I live in Tucson now and I have missed J's cooking. Her food truck has moved to the Boba tea place on fry Boulevard. So I stopped by to get some of that pork belly and some jalapeños wrapped in bacon decided to get some hibiscus tea while I was there. Y'all. This is the best! I didn't want rice so I got extra pork belly It is perfectly crisp! And these jalapeños! Huuuuge! It was so nice to see J again- she is still so kind and an EXCELLENT cook with great recipes. I'm so glad her truck was open while I was in town. I got some hibiscus tea from inside the boba place & it was fantastic. They were able to make it unsweetened and the flavor is exactly what my grandma used to make.

This place is consistently great. The Boba milk teas are my favorite and it's the only place in town for really good lumpia.

Be prepared for an exquisite dining experience…read more I visited on a Friday at noon. There were several tables already enjoying their food when I walked in for the first time. I was immediately greeted by the friendly mother of the owner and opted to sit against the wall near the front. The dark grey decor immediately impressed me. Even the rest room was beautifully decorated. My server was very attentive throughout my meal. I ordered raspberry iced tea and chicken bulgogi. My server asked me if I wanted to grill it myself, but I opted for the kitchen to do that. I don't trust my own cooking skills. The various appetizers were served first. I really liked the cucumber kimchi. I was asked various times if I wanted refills on any of the dishes. I got a second portion of cucumber kimchi. The bulgogi came out steaming fast. There was a lot of food there for just one person. I took my time savoring the flavors and taking in the ambiance. The chicken was lean and very flavorful. The dining area looks big, but the restaurant only seats 48 people. There are two long tables that can seat parties of eight. There are four TVs, one in each corner of the room. I don't understand why anyone would need the urge to watch TV in a place like this, with the focus being on grilling and socializing, but each TV was on and muted. This place can get loud with just a few groups of people. Music in the background is modern rock, which may not fit in with the mood of this place. The things I noticed: The owners really care about the customers and enjoy talking to them. The tables are kept clean. As soon as customers leave, the tables are cleared and the grills sanitized. My server was always asking me what else I wanted. She brought me what things I did need right away. There is a four-prong outlet by every table that's against the wall, so I was able to keep my phone charged. While my meal was pricey -- the tea and bulgogi alone were around $29 before tax--it was an excellent dining experience, I will be back. .

Oh no, I thought, is that a good or a bad question. "We hiked up Huachuca Peak" she reminded me. That hike was in early 2020, before the pandemic. Then I remembered. She blazed up that peak faster than me. She also remembered my German Shepherd dog I brought on that hike. Even my dog beat me to the peak. I didn't want to tell her that I have six German shepherd dogs. Kim only has one. This woman, Kim, is not the owner, but a friend of the owner who is currently in Korea. We had a nice conversation about Korean and American food and we both giggled at the differences between the two cuisines. I have been a fan of Asian cuisine for several years now. I ordered a cheesy spicy chicken, It came out fast. Kim insisted I have some water and gave me a bottle of it. I'm glad she did, as the cheesy spicy chicken lives up to its spiciness. The portion is big enough for two meals. The hot pepper dominates, but the cabbage and chicken also stand out. The wall decor includes photographs of Korean landscapes and villages. The dining area otherwise is simple, with a mostly white color dominating. There are two non-gender specific bathrooms up front. I enjoyed my meal. I will try the spicy chicken tacos next. Kim offered me some Korean coffee after my meal, but I declined as I only drink coffee in the morning and I didn't want to be up all night, but she insisted I take some instant Korean coffee with me. "You must try this with milk!" Kim said as she handed me four packs of Maxim coffee, "my husband uses four of these per 16 ounces." I'm glad she told me how much water to coffee ratio to use, as the directions on the packet are only in Korean.
