Wow! I went to visit this establishment today and I'm soo glad I did. I'm in the process of moving here from Tennessee and was craving Filipino food. As soon as I came in, I met the nicest and welcoming owner, Nick along with their female cashier and staff. Their freshly cooked dishes were delightful plus they give you good portions. Their desserts and pastries too were delicious as well. I can't wait to settle down and make this as my one stop home cook meals to go along with Filipino Grocery items.. My last visit to Nick's Sari-Sari was about seven years ago, so I was excited to give it another try. I was hoping to find a Filipino restaurant that I could start visiting regularly, and I genuinely want to support a small local business like this. I ordered Combo #6, which came with pancit and two entrées. One of the entrées I selected was the longganisa (2 pieces), but when I got home, I realized I had been given lumpia instead. My second entrée was the chicken adobo, but unfortunately, the pieces I received were almost entirely bone with very little meat. To top it off, the pancit was quite soggy, which made the meal even more disappointing. I'm hoping I simply caught them on an off day, because this wasn't the experience I was expecting. I'd like to believe this isn't representative of the food they normally serve. I haven't decided if I'll give them another try, but I'm rooting for Sari Sari and truly hope they succeed. read more

So delighted to find them open during the 4th of July weekend! They're actually open every day except Sundays. Faith is very pleasant and she's also one of the cooks there. The food was awesome! My son loved the dinuguan which was very delicious! He also liked the sinigang soup. It was blazing hot outside so we decided to order a giant halo-halo! Was in neighborhood to get oil change at Borst and decided to walk 1.5mi here for lunch. Great choice! Walking we missed the sign that faces the traffic when driving as building itself has a very plain front. It wasn't until we realized we had passed it and looked around for a sign that it became visible in the middle of the parking strip, now glaring at us with a blue red Sari Sari sign lol. $11.99 for plate from buffet of hot dishes with choice of rice and/or Pancit. Opted for all Pancit with signature vinegary Pork Adobo, generous portion and a bowl of piping hot chicken soup. Food was all very hot and fresh at 11:30AM. Pancit had more of a veggie and moist salty flavor and pork tender and right amount of vinegar and salty soy, delish. Soup was very hot and nice saltiness with choy and squash. Thoroughly enjoy my comfort plate. Banana ketchup, All Purpose tart light caramel sauce, fish sauce, sweet chili, Sriracha, vinegar available next to buffet. Check out at register on the nearby shop side and enjoy in dining room with 6-7 tables and chairs next to chest freezers. Nick the owner came over and introduced himself and became an instant friend. This is a small Filipino grocery store that offers ready to eat food. I mentioned Filipino, because they mainly cater to that demographic. I would not consider it Oriental/ Asian cause I did not see any other variety rather than Filipino products. Unlike the Lee Lee's International Market, this is focused only on Filipino food products. They have cakes, ice cream, cookies, hotdogs, ready to cook food, and so much more to even mention.. Every Saturday, they have live music. Their food is decent, small variety. The Sari Sati store was awesome, lots of variety especially in the frozen cases. They had limited cold case for veggies and a bread case with limited items, but if you needed your favorite hot n spicy cracker peanuts, shrimp crackers or any other Pinoy snack this is the place. The tindera was the best thing about the Sari Sari store she could light up the room with her big bright welcoming smile and her conversation. Would go back just for the greeting. The Sari Sari was split between the Palenke and the kainan. The biggest draw was to get some food to take home. Unfortunately, this part needs the most attention. All the food was either in a hot table, heat lamp or a steamer. My guess is the food had been there for 6 hours and was made once. The caldereta was like cement so we past, the chicken adobo didn't look very good so didn't want to sample that. No sure why they wouldn't at this point make to order as people would enjoy fresh hot, appetizing food. In the end we grabbed 6 shumai that were rubbery, the lechon kawali had been under the lamp so no crispiness and we are still deciding whether to try the pancit. I understand as a visitor the area that there are only maybe 2 Filipino restaurants in the area. So which means you are prime for attention make a little effort to make the food look good and appetizing. The buffet set up is great for lunch crowds, but then you should rotate to a made to order process. Just my worthless 2 cents. Lastly, it appears that Nocks Sari Sari is also an agent for balikbayan boxes which is always a good thing. Work on the food, the great versatility of Filipino food should not be left to steam table or hot lamp. Customers would wait the extra 5 minutes while shopping to get some tasty food. read more

Reminds me of good, motherly cooking. The rice noodles were very good, too. Again, nothing exceptional, but better than average. The BBQ chIcken skewers were tasty. Better than average. This is a nice change of pace from a Mexican food truck, burger, sandwich, or pizza for lunch. It was lunch time, yet there was live music. The musician goes by "RJ." I rather enjoyed his covers. I'm surprised that there is live music at lunch time. Three lumpia, rice noodles, and two skewers set me back $14. Not cheap. Check them out. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. Let me say, my heart really adores this place. I had a great friend in high school whose family was from the Philippines, and having a Filipino cuisine spot in town that doubles as a market is a BLAST. My only grievance with their cafeteria style food options is that, in my experience, they don't always keep the food super fresh. So it's kind of a roll of the dice for how recently your grub was prepared. Also their lumpia is frozen . But hey aside from that, it's a tasty spot and well worth a visit! read more

Great little Asian grocery shop alongside a Filipino restaurant. Had the adobo, weird but the chicken was tastier than the pork. Majority of pork chops was just fat, had to throw those out. Lumpia was crunchy and not too greasy. Stewed fish a little too sweet. The restaurant food isn't as good as over the past years, the lady behind the counter said that she "didn't cook today" but her service was excellent. Nick's Sari-Sari (tagalog for variety market) has just opened a restaurant inside their convenience store after 7 years of Tucson being Filipino food-less. This is exciting for me because if I was craving Filipino food, I would either have to make it myself or drive to Phoenix, which being a lazy Filipina, I would do neither. I went for lunch today with a friend who has never had Filipino food before. They had a small whiteboard with their menu for the day and they serve it as a first come first served basis. If they run out of a dish, they run out of it so don't go too late in the day. The two ladies behind the counter were super nice with explaining everything to my friend and made them feel very comfortable. We both got a rice combo dish with two entrees at $6.50 each and a halo halo to split at $4.50. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! Although the dish types were not the style I was used to -- each Filipino province cooks their dishes a little different -- I didn't dislike a single thing. If you're new to Filipino food, get the adobo and pancit combo with rice. If you're not picky, I absolutely recommend the kare kare. The menu rotates daily so call ahead if you're looking for a specific dish. I really hope this restaurant lasts because I already know I will be frequenting this place often. This was my 2nd visit and let me say, I really wanted to love this place. This is a combo store and restaurant and this review is just for the takeaway food. They have steam tables, which I love because you can see what's available. There were no labels, no biggie, but when I asked what things were, the woman behind the counter seemed annoyed. Prices are not clear. I ordered the 2 item combo and was charged $4.99 for the pork skewer (I thought this would be one of my 2 items, but it was an additional charge). I chose half and half (rice and pancit) - that's an extra $1. The food was okay, but between the weird, unfriendly vibe, the meh tasting food and the prices that seem kind of arbitrary, I won't be going back. read more

How awesome...Finally! Filipino food hits Tucson, conveniently located right outside Davis-Monthan AFB. Tried and true staple of Filipino entrees are hot and delicious. A Filipino colleague at work did the ordering and I picked up and paid. More or less ready at the appointed time. Enough food for about 20 people in Nogales, about $280. The 3 of us who knew filipino food all concurred. The pork BBQ skewers, chocolate meat and desserts were excellent. The chicken afritada and pancit were good. The pork adobo was fair. The lumpias were poor. I would return for cafeteria style dine-in, as I'm a chocolate meat guy. Didn't look at the store part, but Philippine Lechon sauce, which is like a brown sugar cane sauce that pours like ketchup, is great on any pork dish and should be in every pantry. read more

My original goal in going was to buy the Mama Sita's Adobo Sauce Mix. Although I accomplished my mission, I strayed off task because the smell of the Bbq Pork Skewers called my name. The little grocery store has the essentials: seasoning packets, rice sticks, fish sauce, oyster sauce, etc. The restaurant is always a hit when things are fresh. They have frozen Shumai and Frozen Seamed Vuns. I'd call it a Filipino Convenience Store with a pretty goos restaurant. The menu is small but has the Filipino Comfort foods. Pancit, Lumpia, Chicken Adobo, and Twice Cooked Pork. It really isn't expensive for authentic food. $13 for 4 freshly grilled pork skewers. $12 for Pancit, Lumpia was $1 each. DELICIOUSNESS!! Had a hankerin' for some pork belly so I thought we would give this place a try. It's more like a store/shop with a little section for eating. We sat down and someone came by to take our order right away. Pork belly and a side of some sort of delicious noodles. Grabbed a couple of waters from the cooler and our food was out in no time. The pork belly was very tasty and super crispy and came with a nice dipping sauce. Definitely satisfied my craving. Finished our meal and paid up front. All of the staff was very friendly and the place was clean. Looks like they are still getting things together, I think I read that the restaurant part is still fairly new. As best as I can tell, this is the ONLY Filipino store / eatery in Tucson, with the exception of a single food truck. A "sari-sari" is a small convenience or sundry store ("sari-sari" meaning, "sundry" in Tagalog), and Nick's Sari-Sari is exactly that. You can find Filipino-specific food items here. The other side of the store offers Filipino menu items. We came in order to try the hot food. My wife wanted pancit and I thought I'd also try some adobo. Nick's appeared to be our only option, so off we went. And it was merely okay. We've been exposed to Filipino food in a variety of places. The chief export of the Philippines are its people, and if you do any sort of travel, especially through Asia, or served in or with the US military, you'll find large communities of Filipinos doing service-oriented work -- hotels, restaurants, cruise lines. It's not hard to find Filipino food in such places, and after a while, you have a sense of what makes up a quality dish of pancit or adobo or lumpia. We found the hot food merely okay, and not worth a repeat trip. If you like Filipino food, then I think you should try Nick's. You may come to a different conclusion. But it's not for us. We did not shop at the grocery side, which appeared to host a large variety of Filipino food items. read more

I wanted to love this place. I miss my son-in-laws cooking so I was looking for a local place where I could get good Filipino food. The pancit was lacking a bit in flavor. The Adobo flavor was ok, I am just not a fan of tiny chicken bones in my food, but I do realize this is the traditional way Chicken Adobo is made. The skewered pork was so over cooked I had to cut it off the skewers so I was super disappointed in that purchase, the meat was so tough I had to throw it away. Now, the store is a different story. Shelves filled with traditional Filipino foods. They also have a very decent selection of frozen foods. The young woman who helped me make my purchases was very nice and very helpful. The restaurant is modest and can probably seat about twenty folks at one time. This Saturday they had a few guys playing music and they were really good. The food is served out of a hot bar and a room temperature case that held the fried fish, egg rolls, and chicken skewers. I ordered a lunch combo and two chicken skewers. This was way too much food, but I wanted to try a few things. Everything I enjoyed, but my company said it was solid Filipeano food. A comment that was made was that sometimes the amount of fat cut away is a variable you see in Filipeano food. Her mom cut away a lot of the fat. I can see that. I will say fat = flavor, but it's not too great for your waistline. So try this place if you want Fileanpo food that Filieano people will eat. read more

It's a tiny but very well stocked store, it also helps that they take suggestions on what items to sell here and they can get it for you if you wanted it. The prices are very considerate and the people who worked here are very friendly and helpful. The owner of this place also handles balikbayan boxes in case you have family/relatives back in the native land (philippines) that you wanted to send goodies for. They are still continuously expanding their variety of items they sell and they re-stock every friday. We are not from the area, but are passing through and needed some basic necessities (e.g., rice, noodles, Asian goods, etc.). Three employees from the car rental place at Tucson International Airport highly recommend Nick's Sari-Sari store to us, and they even added that the store itself has a connecting restaurant with ready made food (think Panda Express style). The basics: The business location doesn't have a huge sign noting its location, but there is an outdoor sign erected. The building itself is located in a strip mall type area and is conveniently close to similar Mom and Pop stores. Inside the store to the right are the grocery goods (e.g., frozen lumpia, ice cream, frozen vegetables, sauces/spices, dehydrated noodles, etc.), and directly in front of the cash register are to place "Balikbayan" boxes (boxes full of items local residents would like to ship to their loved ones residing in the Philippines). To the left of the store is the small dine in area and the hot food area of ready made meals (food items vary per day, Monday to Saturday). Examples of food items are Grilled sweet BBQ pork, Pansit (Filipino noodles), Mungo (mung beans with vegetables and likely to have chicken as protein), Bifstek (seasoned steak cutlets with onions), etc. Overall, the establishment was clean and well lit. The order: Pansit, BBQ pork, turon (wrapped sweetened fried banana), pork sinigang (tamarind based pork dish with vegetables), kutchinta (spelling? - sweetened native treat), and torta (the best way for us to describe it is scrambled egg with eggplant). The dishes we tried were tasty and the service from the owner (Mr. Nick Subong) and his staff were exemplary. Everyone was helpful and the items were decently priced. Clearly this is a Mom and Pop store/local business that takes pride in their service and business. FYI - We have been here in the Tucson area since March and should be leaving soon. Since our stay, we have mostly been sheltering in place, but on occasion do place orders for pick up or to go. Of all the places we've been to, we have not been able to write a Yelp review until now; therefore, the numerous Yelp reviews written in one day is simply due to us now having more free time to be able to actually write them. This is not a fake account or review and we simply provide our reviews based on OUR experience and taste buds/preference (same as other Yelpers). At last! A Filipino restaurant in Tucson! Nick's Sari-Sari Store had been open for a long time in the 22nd st. location without a restaurant so that place closed and they opened this Craycroft location with a restaurant just this February. It might be off-putting for some but the way Nick's layout of the place is very Filipino--like a carinderia next to a market. When you arrive at a typical Filipino carinderia, you'll be greeted with a display of all the dishes for the day that you can choose from. Although Nick's restaurant is indoors, it's not the place where you have a server. You go upfront and you can mix and match with whatever you'd like to eat. After eating you can get any Filipino groceries and/or treats you may like at the sari-sari store. They have pan de ube, pan de coco, lumpia, siopao, and even Filipino eggplant and mangoes! Maybe one of these days there will be a fine dining or sit down Filipino restaurant in Tucson but for now this carinderia-style spot is the place to be for your Filipino food cravings. read more
