This is hands down, without a doubt, the best place around. They have same day service for dry cleaning as well as was and fold. They drop off to you. They are super competent. They are affordable. J's Tailors used to be my go to place but after this last experience I will be looking for another tailor. I came in with multiple pairs of paints and three jackets. While both pairs of pants were hemmed, the bottom stitching was not put back in and the seat and legs weee not taking in like they were supposed to do. As far as the jackets are concerned, the seamstress would not listen to me when I said the sleeve lengths were too long. When I come to this tailor and cleaners, I know I'm getting my clothes the way I brought it in and beyond. I don't have to question if this or that was done. We are obsessed with J's and so thankful they've been our cleaners for the past 5 years! We're a busy working family with two small kiddos and I love that J's offers deliveries/pick-ups and alterations. Their customer service is incredible. Sometimes I'll accidentally send in my sons basketball shorts or my husbands undershirts and they'll text me to ask if I really wanted it dry cleaned. (Which of course I didn't mean to!) I got alterations done here for a work uniform, and they did an excellent job. My only complaint is it was $150 to get a skirt hemmed and a dress hemmed and taken in. Personally I felt this was very overpriced. It may be worth it if you have very expensive clothing because I highly doubt they would mess it up. read more

We have used J's for many months now after going to expensive dry cleaners in Uptown and being unhappy with the quality of the work for the money. So far, so good! The only issue I've had involved some pillow covers that were tricky to press out. They looked discolored so I brought them back. The desk receptionist apologized, was very empathetic, and said she would like the owner to take a look. The owner called me back when I was told she would and provided an acceptable resolution to getting them back to the way they looked prior. They even delivered them back to my house! We have also had situations where they have found a needed repair on clothing we have dropped off and have texted us to see if we want them to take care of it. Saves a lot of time and you know they are actually inspecting the items. They also make great quality masks if you are looking for any! read more

As a 5'0" girl (on a good day), my tailor bills are up there with my monthly electric...so price becomes as important as quality. Last year I discovered Fred the Tailor in Irving, and I have never looked back. Don't be deceived by the exterior/interior - your perfectly altered clothes and wallet will thank you. I took two jackets and a skirt in for cleaning. I asked for a price, and I was told that "we don't have a price list." Then I insisted; another employee quoted me $7.98 per jacket and never would tell me the price for the skirt. I picked the items up this morning and was charged $37.72 for THREE ITEMS. This is outrageous! One of the jackets only cost $39 when I bought it! There is a lack of transparency at drop-off, and then you're stuck with a giant bill if you want your clothes back. read more

I had alterations completed by the next day at no extra charge. Prices are reasonable, but I think it is a best practice to enquire about the price when I drop off the clothes, so that there are no surprises. The quality is solid. This place is a rip off. They charge $1-2 extra for "spots". Those spots were why I got the clothes dry cleaned to begin with.

I live in Fort Worth, a 2 hour round trip from the Oak Lawn location, this should tell you everything you need to know and you can stop reading now, but if you have time, I'll expand my reasons. When it comes to dry cleaning, I have an expectation that my suits and shirts will come back clean, crisp and wrinkle free (oh, and no hair on my clothes from other people or pets). This should be normal for a dry cleaner, right? You would think it is, but after 6 years of using all these random dry cleaners around my side of town, and getting suits and shirts ruined on a daily basis, without them taking responsibility, I finally had enough. If you're going as far as reading reviews, you know what I'm talking about, burn marks, wrinkles in jacket because they used high heat, pants that weren't creased right, yea, a nightmare. I was SO, SO grateful to have been referred to J's from my custom clothier and I haven't been anywhere else since! J's needs to be the only place for you, if you truly care for your attire. Most of my clothes are custom, so they are expensive. I drive so far here because they are the only ones I can trust with them and have proven this every time! As for alterations, haha, I laugh because in an area as big as DFW, I can't believe it took me 6 years to find a tailor who's THIS good, but I'm SO glad I did. No one does a better job fitting you for your clothes than J, his daughter and his staff. They know how clothes should fit you, and they ask you your comfort level for each alteration, trendy to classic, etc. Keep in mind, this dude has over 40 years experience literally making suits by hand. You can't buy that kind of experience and you certainly can't find it in these dime a dozen tailors all over town. I can buy a suit off the rack, (when my wife won't let me buy another custom one) and J's will make it look like a million dollar suit. In fact, I bought a suit from Macy's for 112 dollars, I had it tailored precisely to how I wanted it, and I get compliments all the time with people asking how much this suit cost me. It's not just length, there's so much more to it that I wouldn't trust anyone else to do but J. Tapering, the waist, the rise, the jacket sleeves, the chest, he can do it all! I trusted J's with a verify important Alteration to some board shorts that were supposed to be ready by Thursday the day before my competition, when I showed up to pick up the item and decided to try on my the shorts before leaving to insure that they were altered correctly I noticed that no adjustment had been done to the waistband as requested. I notified the girl helped me out and they had the tailor come check and pin out the area that needed fixing, she said to give her an hour and she would have it ready. Once I left I get a call when I'm down the street informing that the would be an additional charge on top of the $80+ that I had already paid to have the work completed, I informed them that they made it seem like they would fix it since it was they error, needless to say they didn't fix it. One of my hoodies seemed shrunk and it very well could have shrunk or laundered by my maids before I took it in, and not only were they willing to help they quite literally went above and beyond to block my hoodie out to the original size and get it back to me the same day so I could take it on my trip to Europe! I take my clothes only here and Yes it is Expensive,but you can sleep good at night knowing that nothing will be ruined. I've taken very expensive things here even things with leather detail and 100% silk dresses and that requires extra attention,they do an amazing job and usually don't have to wait long at all for your stuff to be ready. I've done some simple alterations and they have always done a good job,I read the previous reviews about them just dry cleaning clothes that were left for alterations and I've never had a problem with that they have always asked if things need to be cleaned or not. read more
