Not the place for dry cleaning. I've been a customer of J's for alterations since the business started in Preston Center. However, this was the first time I had anything dry cleaned. Unfortunately, they ruined a new cashmere sweater that came back filled with pilling. I thought the bill was unusually cheap, now I know why. Lesson learned. read more

Everyone was so kind in-store but I would definitely ask about pricing before going here. I dropped off 11 dresses (all mini besides one) expecting to pick them up and pay around $100. I picked them up this morning and the total was $170. This was definitely my own fault for not asking but just seemed like a crazy price for dry cleaning dresses. read more

I had a pair of silk pants and a matching tank hemmed here, and they charged me $90 total. I thought this was steep, as it was a simple pant hem and shortening wide straps on a tank, but I've taken tailoring here for years through various retail jobs and the work has been pretty good. When I picked up my tailoring in May, I should've checked before leaving. I didn't wear this set at all after pickup until today (Aug 5), and when I went to put on the pants this morning, the hem on one leg was completely coming apart. Half of the hem wasnt even attached, and the rest was totally unraveling! $90 worth of tailoring and the hem wasnt finished! I brought them back today to have it fixed and they told me I would have to pay again to have the initial incomplete job fixed...I picked these up in May, and while I undertstand it's been a few months, the initial job was not done correctly. I dropped off my clothes. I asked them to wash the clothing. They dry cleaned all of them and charged me $299 for it. I reached out to the dry cleaner and really open up my heart and expressed how much this amount was too difficult for me to make, and that I did not intend for my clothes to be dry cleaned. She responded with that. The owner or manager would call me and they did not do that for over a week until I kept calling back. Eventually she connected with the owner and the owner told her they provided a Service and this is how much it costs and that they could offer me a 15% discount in the future. The clothes that were dry cleaned were in themselves also not cleaned - there were spots that I had to clean on my own. Just assumed that when you're driving off your clothes, this business is going to charge you a lot for it. read more

I brought two blazers into this location for sleeve and length hemming. One of which did not even have a lining. I was told that to hem the length of one of them would be too pricy, so I opted to just shorten the sleeves on both and hem one of the lengths. As an attorney, I always ask for the price up front, so I specifically asked what my total would be before leaving. I was told $75 for both, plus 6.99 to press one. I just went to pick up the jackets, and was charged $169!!! I argued with the same lady who gave me the original price and asked her to honor her word, and she blatantly lied and denied having ever quoted me that price. This place is not only dishonest but also a blatant rip-off. I encourage you to find a different tailor who will honor the quotes given by their employees. read more

I used their laundry and delivery service for the first time and was absolutely impressed! I handed it off in the afternoon and it was ready the next day. The girl who delivered it went out of her way to accommodate me since i needed it within a tight time frame (it was my fault for leaving laundry for last minute!) My clothes arrived neatly packed, clean and folded. The amount of professionalism they had was something you don't normally see, they gained a new customer for sure. read more

Verrry pricey! I brought in a maxi dress that is paper thin for just a hem and when she said $49.50 I thought I misheard her! Was my first time so I should have asked pricing but I get jeans hemmed with the cuff out back on for $15 bux at another place! Never dreamed the hem would have been as much as the dress. They charged $11 to press it and a $10 rush fee fir a Monday drop off with a Thursday pickup..... again one hem people. read more

Estella was amazing and so helpful. She gave us quick service and was kind even though she was super busy and patient with my two year old running around exploring. I had two dresses tailored. Pick up was scheduled for 6 pm and they were ready for me that morning. There was one small adjustment that needed to be made and it was done quickly that day with no extra charge. The price was fair. A lot was done to both dresses and it was well made. I would recommend this place and will most definitely come back. read more

I don't often leave reviews for dry cleaners (not much to say) but J's went above and beyond in their customer service. I hadn't realized there was a location closer to my home - without charge they offered to send my clothes to the location closer to me for an easier pick up experience. Everyone I interacted with at both locations were friendly and professional. The service was efficient with a turnaround time of a day, and their prices are very competitive for the area! Most importantly, they got a very challenging stain off my nice jacket!! read more

Even though I have lived in the neighborhood I never noticed J's and kept trying different places miles away. I started going to J's about a year ago and was impressed from the very beginning. In the morning Esperanza always asks how I am and is quick to point out little things to make my life easier. When I leave items in pockets they always make it back to me. I don't go in the evenings that often but same eye to detail and concern. This is the most honest, hardworking, and superb dry cleaners I have ever used. Unless you change - I never will. I'm conflicted with this place. I feel like they do good work, but that they charge a lot for it. I got a pair of pants hemmed, work slacks, unlined. It cost 14 dollars. Most recently, I took in 2 dresses one to be cleaned the other press only. 22 dollars total. I have trust issues with cleaners to be honest, so I'm glad the work here has been good- but it's still hard to part with that much money for the job. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I sent a designer leather jacket in for a routine cleaning and it came back stained and wrinkled---and took 3 weeks! These amateurs ruined a $1500 jacket. Up front they seem nice, but the quality of work is basically stealing money. The staines were a product of them having the jacket accidentally rub up against another dark jacket and they accidentally got my leather jacket wet causing it to wrinkle beyond repair. I switched to J's on Park Lane about a year ago. I was so tired of always getting shirts back from my previous dry cleaner with broken and/or missing buttons and mediocre customer service when you had a problem. Since I've switched to J's, I've never had that issue. Espi is fabulous and so detail oriented, she never misses anything! I highly recommend J's. read more

Went in with girlfriend to get 3 spring dresses altered for her and a zipper fixed on another. Waited a week and half. Went to pick them up and I told my girlfriend she needs to try them on. She did and none were done right; in fact done horribly. The woman running the store said she wanted to charge us an additional fee for fixing the butchered up job they did after the exorbitant charge of $160. We will never be back. read more

However, what struck me odd was that I had to pay for the work at the counter before they would let me take the pants into one of their fitting rooms and try the pants on to see if they would fit correctly. I used to love this place but unfortunately had a very bad experience last week. This was my "go to" place for alterations before this experience. I took a camel hair blazer in to have the sleeves altered, because it is a really warm jacket I didn't wear it for about 8 weeks. When I did wear it I realized something was wrong, the lining of the sleeves extended below the jacket sleeves, on BOTH sleeves. I took it back to them confident that they would stand behind their work and fix it. WRONG. Because I did not bring it back in "right away" they charged me $25 to fix THEIR tailor's mistake despite my protests. I was a long term customer who easily spent over $1000 per year with them, and they did not question at all that it was their alteration, they had record of it. I told them I would not be back. For $25 they lost a loyal customer. read more

Time was against me and I needed to dry clean and pants-hem two new three-piece suits I just purchased and this place totally hooked me up! Took 4 days to clean and hem (just in time for my upcoming job interviews). Very polite, professional, and the shop was very nice in terms of appearance and reasonable rates. This was the worst alterations place I have ever been to. They completely ruined my $300 dress with $103 worth of alterations (frayed and ripped the lining and misaligned the dress with the lining so it pulls in a weird place). I do NOT recommend their services as I am currently sitting in my car going on two hours waiting for them to fix as this is a bridesmaids dress for a wedding. read more
