Pic of my engine bay after they deep cleaned it free of charge to figure out where my weird oil leak was coming from
    Ming Q.

Loved working with these folks. Brought in a 2004 Honda Civic. Came in with a complicated scraping-noise and oil leak issue that last few mechanics have not been able to figure out (and one issue that was caused by my last one that they couldn't fix). They did a deep clean of the engine bay to figure out where the oil leak was coming from (never had a mechanic bother to do that - usually they just resorted to 'it's a head gasket' when I knew it wasn't). They were transparent about pricing. Had to leave the car longer in the shop then expected but they provided a nice loaner car in the mean-time. Figured out via process of elimination that the issue was with my oil pump. Gave me my old parts to examine as requested, and I verified they were the real deal. Shout-out to Jude for being the most communicative and clear mechanic I've ever worked with! Will be back for sure. This place is also pretty busy so you may have to wait a bit for service - but they're busy for good reason! Pic attached of the cleanest my engine bay has ever been - at 200k miles! Thank you!

The codes my car was throwing before the diverter valve was replaced by Howie and his team.
    Paul G.

Took my GTI here to get the diverter valve replaced, my car was throwing 2 engine codes related to pressure and I suspected the diverter valve had broke. The car was ready within an hour and I was charged $125 for labor (I supplied the part). Lo and behold the engine codes were no longer present. Other shops were trying to charge me $250+ for labor. To further drive the point on how competitive their pricing is; I received several quotes from highly rated shops in the Bay Area for a spark plug and coilpack replacement. (labor only) ranging from $325-$400. Howie quoted me $125-$175. For those who aren't aware, this is about a 1-1 1/2 hour job and an easy DIY (I would've done it myself if my wrist wasn't sprained). So Howie's pricing is competitive. They order their parts direct from the dealership and therefore provide a warranty for the OEM parts and their labor. They're also one of few shops that installs customer provided parts. They also had a few older Porsches, tuner and project cars on their lot - which says a lot about their work. These guys are legit. Glad to say I've found a trust worthy shop that I'll be taking GTI and any future cars to. If you don't want to to get bent over by the dealership or German "specialty" shops JST Autocars has you covered. Howie is a friendly dude and honest about his team's work and the quotes they provide.

My car was due for a brake job and brake fluid flush. I bought a set performance brake kit and when I was ready I brought my car in to get serviced. I spoke with Howie who is the owner. He gave me the BEST price for labor work. Other auto repair shops were expensive. His team did a great job! They were able to get the job done quite quickly and effectively. They are Very knowledgeable. They specialize in Japanese and foreign cars. They also are able to work on Tesla vehicles. The shop also offers really great LED bulbs kits for the interior and exterior. I will bring my car in the future for more work when needed. Highly recommend!

The office staff was professional, communication was good, and the shop was clean. In addition to changing my oil, they did a detailed overall inspection, which included a battery stress test, engine, brakes, and undercarriage. The full report, which included photos, was emailed to me and I was impressed by how comprehensive it was. If you just need an oil change and can do the minor maintenance and inspections yourself, then it will be a bit pricy at this shop (~$170). However, if you want someone else to do all that, it would be cheaper than a dealership.

I went back to the shop 3 times over the course of ~9 months, each time discovering some issues and replacing the pad/disk (this is where i felt good about the shop, everyone welcomed me back and did the diagnose and replacement for free). I end up relacing the two front pad/disk with another brand (zimmerman? that's what i heard) and resolved all issues. Maybe I just got unlucky, but I have to leave my honest and true experience which exhausts me over the last year (imagine every time you back out of your garage and hearing this "click" sound from your brake system, with a baby in a car. As of today Sam (who I believe is in charge, not sure if he's the owner) has been the only contact with the shop, has had my car for twelve weeks now with nothing completed.he diagnosed the problem the first day, gave me a quote. I zelled him a deposit, enough for the part and the labor. Five weeks later he informed me that the part had arrived, it was installed but didn't fix the problem. He explained the part was poorly rebuilt and needed to be returned and we had to wait for the refund to order a different part. At this time he informed me that the shop would be closed to honor the lunar new year. This was week seven when they returned to work still waiting for the refund to show up. It's was week nine he let me know that he couldn't find the part we needed and he had used my deposit money to pay bills and dint have any left to buy the part. To continue with the repair he said I had to find the part and pay for it on top of the $2000 I'd already gave him. Week ten I found the part , paid for it. A week later the part vendor located in Germany canceled my purchase stating the war in Iran made it too expensive to ship the part" find one in your own country " he's said. So I found the part , paid again and the part arrived at the begining of week twelve. After having the part in hand and knowing I've been without a car for three months he says he'll see if he can get me scheduled at the end of the week which at best the repair will continue into week thirteen. I've asked when he actually had me scheduled for and why couldn't he schedule me sooner? This was Monday the same day as the part arrived. He didn't respond until Tuesday when he said he was working on it so I could have my car to drive on Wednesday. Wednesday I called to see how it went and he said he'll text me later with an update. It's now Thursday of that week , I asked what's up and his response was and is " for me to relax, he's working on it. Sam has been rude. He's ignored me, he's disregarded what i wanted done and did what he wanted to my car. He took money from inted for parts that he never paid for and spent it on himself or the shop bills . I then paid for the parts additionally. He wont produce any kind of invoice to keep track of spenderatures. I've requested several times . When I told him he no longer has any authorization to do any more work on my car. The next text he sent me said he was going to work on my car anyway. I told him I was picking up my car to have it ready to be towed elsewhere. I'm so mad I can't even think. To be continued

I took my BMW one morning to get brake pads and rotors changed. I had taken it to a few other places and all of them wanted me to change all the pads and rotors. Nasir was very honest and told me my rear brake pads and rotors only needed changing. He showed me the wear and tear and explained the process. I was so pleased that he took the time to actually assess my car instead of just putting on extra services. He then ordered the parts and was able to get the job done on the same day in about 1.5 hours. My car drives so much more smoothly and I can feel the difference in my rear brakes! I was so relieved and the process was SO fast! My husband took in his Civic Type R to get his fenders rolled. Nasir and Bilal did a great job with that whole process and he got his car back the same day. He also had his rear brake pads done and was pleased with the entire service. The prices are quite affordable and fair- and most importantly they only do what is necessary. There is also a Yelp deal going on right now too :) I highly recommend First Auto Tire & Wheel for all car needs. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Nasir and Bilal!

Vu took it immediately for a test drive with me in the passenger seat. He could feel the same issue I did. He then put it on the lift and inspected it thoroughly. He wasn't sure of the issue exactly but was transparent in the discussion and thinking. Given the car had been worked on recently by others, I can understand why he would be hesitant to take it on. He noted that "my reputation is more important than one car" or similar, which I understand and respect too, as he said he has been in business for 20 years. He considered his best recommended repair with available information but wasn't pushing it, as it's a pricey repair. Looking to get a second opinion, he then had a different co-worker take another look. The co-worker slid under the car and was able to identify an issue, which was a loose bolt from the prior mechanic. The team right then lifted the car and tightened all the bolts, then took it on a second test drive, and the sounds went away and the steering issue seemed improved. Vu spent about an hour on this work combined with another 15-20 minutes from two or three other people too. After all that, he told me not to pay anything, though I offered! He could have pushed the more expensive repair and I would have very likely gone ahead with it, but he didn't. I need to test drive it further to see how it ddrives, but Vu said if still having issues to come back then to discuss where we go from there. For now, the sounds at least have gone away which is promising! Thank you!!!

I had already done my own diagnostics before drop-off -- swapped the coil pack and spark plug to other cylinders, misfire stayed on cylinder 2, ruling both out. He quoted $600 over the phone using his own parts, which I agreed to. When I showed up, he pulled a bait-and-switch: he would only honor the $600 price if I supplied my own part. I had an OEM Bosch fuel injector at home but hadn't brought it because the original agreement was that he would supply parts. He knew this and still changed the terms at drop-off, forcing me to go home, retrieve my own part, and return -- just to hold him to a price he had already quoted. I told him directly: I do not want this injector thrown in if it isn't confirmed as the cause. I want the misfire fixed. He acknowledged this. He then told me it was 90% likely the coil or plug -- the exact two components I had already tested and eliminated. He installed my injector anyway without confirming it was the fault. It didn't fix the misfire. The quote continued to change. $600 on the phone became $650 in person. He then added carbon cleaning and quoted $900 total. Later he texted $1,000. I had to remind him of his own quote -- he agreed and admitted he didn't remember what he said. I wrote "Cyl 2 misfire" on the work order as the service requested and signed it. He called at 2:25pm saying the car was fixed. I paid $900 and drove home with the engine stumbling worse than before. Scanned the car at home -- P0302 still active and confirmed. A new fault code also appeared that was not present before drop-off. I returned to the shop in good faith and gave them the opportunity to make it right before taking any further action. They refused. $900 paid. My own part used. Bait-and-switch on parts and price. Explicit instructions ignored. Misfire unresolved. Car running worse. BAR complaint filed.
