Walking up and down Fillmore today I went to this little salon with four ladies working. They had room for me and did an excellent job. They're less pricey than the places a block up closer to shops. They aren't fancy and do t have spa chairs or vibrating massage chairs. They have bowls of warm soapy water and friendly service. No candy or tea or water. They play soft rock on KOIT. Nicole did my manicure and someone else recommended the colors and did the pedicure. $55 for both and an additional $15 for them to take gel off. The best part of the experience was the foot and hand massage included. So good. read more

Everyone who works here is so kind, remembers me, and treats me like family! Came in to get some acrylics done, I still had some old ones on. They charged me $25 to remove them and on top of that didn't even remove them correctly. Clipped them off and ripped them off my nail beds. What is that???? Overcharging me to damage my nail beds is insane. JT Nails is the sweetest shop. I live nearby and go there monthly for gel manicures and pedicures. The folks working here always make you feel welcomed and that there's a genuine care for their clients. While sitting there for a service every once and a while folks from around the neighborhood will pop in to say hi, or theres a customer sitting next to you that's been coming here for years. A definite sense of community and it's just lovely! As for the nails lol, always thorough and consistent. :) read more

Vibe was anything but relaxing-- alarms going off repeatedly, customers talking extensively on speakerphones, and the guy next to me took his shirt off for a massage. Went in to get a gel pedicure. My pedicure and overall service were fine. But they didn't have the typical electric massage chair with the foot bath at the bottom that they usually do at a nail salon. I strolled in today needing a mani stat. The place was crowded, but within a second of walking in the door, Jackie asked for my name and informed me it would be a 30 minute wait. I contemplated, and decided to stick around since my dinner date with a friend was running late. I don't know if I'd ever get a pedicure here, considering they don't have traditional pedicure spa chairs - you know the ones with the built-in tubs and jets. Instead, women were soaking their feet in plastic bins. I guess this is an SF thing? ... Thirty minutes went by, and not too longer after did I realize it was worth the wait. Jackie, the petite, sweet and super posh nail tech (and owner?) gave me the BEST nail polish job ever. Eh-ver. I can't stop looking at my nails because they are stunning. Perfect. She was a perfectionist, examining her work, filing away, going back to even things out, painting so intricately, and molding the best cuticle lines. I highly rec you request her. She's so kind and kept thanking me - along with other patrons - "thank you so much for waiting." "Thank you so much for waiting." The only issue I have with my nails is that I have tiny air bubbles, but that's slightly my fault because I kept my nails too close to the fan (I was in a drying hurry.). However, this could have been prevented had they more UV nail drying machines and not just the ones they used on the ladies getting the Shellac nails. Jealous that I can't take Jackie back with me to Texas. But I'll be sure to come back next trip to SF. read more

Got a pedicure here and didn't realize until I walked in that they don't have massage chair/footbaths-- instead, they bring out tubs of hot water. The pedicure itself was fine, and has lasted a few weeks! A decent price for the area, but if you're looking for a luxurious foot care experience I'd go elsewhere. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I got a gel mani and regular pedicure, both ended up turning awful! 1. They told me my nails were dry enough for me to put my shoes back on, and they weren't so they were instantly ruined. 2. Within less then two weeks my gel manicure faded and got all streaky (looked gross and disgusting) 3. Tina the owner was awful to me, never have I had someone be so rude for their mistake! She told me I didn't get them done here, because that would never happen at her salon. I actually took a pic in the salon to send to my family because I was originally excited about how good it looked. Amazing performance today by the wonderful and talented staff at JT Nails who even managed to bring me cappuccino coffee from the Bakeshop next door. Judy and Sue were very professional and my manicure/pedicure was a success without any problems today. A great location for this small Nail salon visited by many locals and tourists from the area. Why 5 stars??? Attention to Detail: Closed the door cause it was windy and cold. They address the concerns of customers in a timely manner and did not speak improperly in Vietnamese about their customers. Finally They have plenty of satisfied return customers or regulars along with new clientele give rave reviews. I highly recommend you give it a try here and see for yourself. My first time here at this location and I will absolutely be coming back next month when I return to this Beautiful city by the Bay. The Price for Manicure and Pedicure was $30.00 which is quite reasonable for the area. Gel is $5 extra and $10 for massage for 15 minutes. Overall We had a most wonderful experience at JT Nails. I can't tell you how nice it is to come into a place and have everyone know you, ask about your wife, your kid, your job, and truly listen to what's up, while at the same time giving your hands and feet the massage that makes you forget every damn thing that's bothering you. When I started coming here, i was one of the few guys getting a mani-pedi, chalk it up to my metrosexual nature ;) Anyway, for me it's always been about the hand and foot massage as much as the nail cutting, and the crew at JT always delivers above and beyond. The place was on the ghetto fabulous side. No massage chairs here to soak those toes; more like a little bucket with a saran wrap lining with luke warm water. Say what? Yep. Not much in the massage department either. I do have to say, they polished perfectly, nice and thick. I was a walk-in, they told me cash only so I ran across the street to Walgreens to get cash. They were taking more walk-ins but turned away an African American lady. I explained I wanted my nail beds to be narrow and soon the acrylic was smaller than my actual nails. I was getting upset. Someone else came in and starting building again on my nail. The overall finished product looked horrible. It looked like I needed a fill even though I just spent hours on a new set. I was also cut with the sanding instrument they used. The place was full so I thought it must be good ... but the french nails I got were worse than what I can do myself (see the photos I uploaded). The curves were not smooth and she just ignore all the edges/sides of the nail. She also asked me to pay right after she cleaned my hand but before she started painting my nails. I was lazy to take off my glitter polish, you know you hate scrubbing that off too! So I went to get my nails done over at JT Nails. The lady scrubbing my polish off also said, glitter..sigh. I saw the Essie color Barefoot and Topless on Pinterest and haven't found it in any stores, I found it here! It is the perfect nude color, love it! Ok what amazed me, the lady who helped me almost half a year ago remembered me!! What the heck! She said you come in one time and you haven't been back since. Woah!! How the heck does she remember?? Since moving back to the area, I was excited to find a place near by that looked good. Unfortunately, I will never come here again. Tina and another worker were so rude. They also thought talking in another language made it so I didn't know they were talking about me. When I came in the place only had one person getting her nails done so they had put me in a nice chair until I wanted to choose a different color and all of a sudden I'm put in the crappy seat with the table. Only two people came in after me and they both got seated in the comfortable chairs. One of which got to before I was sent to sit at the table. When I asked for my nails to be cut short because I work with young kids and don't want to chance scratching them by accident, Tina acted like I was putting her out having her cut my nails. I like my gel color but the tips look like she didn't even touch them so they are off a little. Even my mom noticed with her poor sight when I saw her later that day. I would recommend to anybody looking for a nail salon in the city to go somewhere else. read more

ALERT!!! They gave me nail FUNGUS!!! It's the only salon I've been to the last 2 years! When they stripped off color from their previous pedi I noticed my nails were white colored! I asked the technician why, she said they were just dry!! I asked to speak to the manager and she said the same thing!!! I took a photo because I was suspicious. I went to my podiatrist about 1 hour later and showed him the photo. He said that's FUNGUS!!! He buffed my nails down and gave me medicine to put on them for the next 2 months!!! JT Salon Lied about my nails and then worked on them!!! Anyone who they used the same base coat and polish on could be infected!!! That's probably how I got the FUNGUS!! My mom doesn't even yell at me as much as I was yelled at in my first 5 minutes here. It is cheap but that's because they don't offer real pedicures, more of a paint job really. No pedicure chair or Tub, no massage, no scrub, and no hot towel. They also ask you to pay and tip before they have hardly began working on you. Weird to me. Worse is they ask you to sit and turn your upper body sideways so they can do the nails and toes at the same time. It's super uncomfortable! Horrible horrible manicure. The woman didn't clean my nails properly, didn't clean out the cuticles, failed to evenly cut nails and barely buffed. Then before applying polish she asked to get paid, and demanded a tip. I was bewildered but paid. It's hilarious to pay for a service before it's completed and especially tips before being through the whole experience. The icing: when I mentioned the half cleaned nails, she said "you can clean it at home with lemon and hot water". What the f**%^* did I just pay you for lady??? She did the messiest nail polish job I've ever seen / experienced. Irregular French tips, fat here thin there. Single coats on some fingers doubles on others. I felt rushed & poorly taken care of. She spoke broken English and was aggressive. I was a walk in a little over 5 pm and the boss lady said the wait won't be over 20 mins. I was waiting for 45 mins before I was given a tub to soak my feet in. Then some more (another 20 mins or so) just soaking my feet in soapy water over Saran Wrap in a tub before anyone attended to me or explained what the hell was going on. Then they rushed me saying they need to leave and I can let my nails dry outside. I tried reasoning them but was already super awkward and left after 5 mins of wait. Needless to say the polish got chipped. I went back to have it re-done the next day, after making an appointment this time. They tried making me wait again. I had to literally be firm with them about respecting my time (and cab fare!) and in-spite of asking them many times to do a better job, got shitty half done edges thin here and thick there. When you point out how f$:$)4$4 the service is, they just yell at you that apparently this is the first time you're getting nails done. Presumptuous, aggressive, condescending, sloppy attitude. Entitled to get tips. All in all what one had hoped would be a relaxing experience turned out to be not just stress inducing but also expensive and half assed. Did I mention they laugh and taunt the customer in their face, while speaking in their language the whole time. I do not recommend this salon. read more

I get my nails done maaayybe once a year (honestly I think I do a pretty good self-mani/pedi), but my SF friend and I were looking to spend some quality girly girl time around town when I was up there last weekend. The wait wasnt too bad, I think they told us 10 min and it ended up being closer to 20. The service was decent, our nail ladies were friendly, I got complements on my color choice. To me it seemed like there were a LOT of regulars coming in to this place, a good sign. It was $20 incl tip for an a-okay pedicure. I do agree the $25 for mani and pedi is a great deal. read more

The first time I went here I thought it was amazing. Maybe not the cleanest of places, but they did a pretty good job considering the price range. It seemed like a friendly atmosphere as they chatted away in Vietnamese, and happily called out to regulars that came in. I was quite pleased with my find; it was cheap, in my neighborhood, and overall not a bad manicure job. I was ready to give it 4-5 stars. ..... but then i went a second time.... .... with a friend that spoke Vietnamese... these 'ladies' are the rudest people in the world. holy mother of god... I never knew one could talk so much BS with a smile on their faces. First off i was just there to get the gel polish (that they had done for me) removed. My manicurist, while removing the polish with her thumbnail no less, asked me in English where I'd gotten it done. I replied with here. She seemed surprised, but continued removing it. She then started speaking to her co-workers in Vietnamese calling me a liar, saying they wouldn't have done such a shitty job. Saying the colors I chose were tacky and that I was just so full of myself. ....what??? the?? ....???? That's just rude! And why would I lie about that??? Freaking weirdos... Then they started bitching about my friend, who understood all this, saying how she was taking up space in the nail shop and saying really mean things about her. Then they started ripping into all the customers there. Calling so and so a picky bitch and saying rude things about pretty much everyone that came in. I, having no idea, happily sat there and paid (with tip, unfortunately) the 'lady' and left. My friend was so surprised by the animosity and told me that the 'lady' wasn't supposed to charge me to remove it, but another 'lady' told her to file my nails and charge me $10 for wasting their time. So yeah to all the regulars out there going here and potential customers be aware that they will say all sorts of mean things about you to your face and you will have no idea. Ok I got to give JT Nails 5 stars because I was nervous about going inside since it was my fisrt time going to a nail salon and not to mention I wasn't sure to how they would react to a 6'2" black man asking to get a manicure/pedicure. What was amazing they saw me peeking in and out and when I finally just said forget and walked in the door I was shocked I guess the lady in charged said seat down we will be right with you. So that put me at ease and I just chilled. A yong lady brought over a tub of hot water to soak my feet in before she got started. The whole experience was amazing right down to the foot and hand massages. The girls were totally nice and kind of talkative. I was a little nervous and just asked about all the stuff they were using but next time I'll be a little more talkative and found what language they were speaking because it wasn't japanese and I know that pretty well. I work on Fillmore and I have gone to JT Nails a few times. This place is hit or miss. There are a few manicurists who are great, I think they are the owners. There is one particular women there, she looks older than the rest, that is just awful. The first time I worked with her she did such an awful gel manicure on me that I went back an hour later and had one of the owners re-do it. It was chunky, polish did not reach the edges in some areas and she painted my skin in others. Really really unsightly and bad. The next time I dropped in just for a basic manicure, no color and a buff. It was the same older women and she butchered my nails. Some nails were cut extremely short and uneven. She tried to file them rounded like I like, and they were jagged. I left super bummed out. Some of the women at this salon speak only to each other in their language. Once in a while they will speak to you, not often though. I really hate this aspect of nail salons. It's so incredibly rude to have people talking all around you and you don't know what their saying. It's very bad service. Because of the inconsistencies of the nail salons in my neighborhood I have just given up on manicures. I care for my nails at home and save my money. read more

I didn't like the voracious pumicing that went a little north and skinned my heel. I didn't like tight squeeze of the place. And I think I could have used an extra coat to even things out. I'm currently right in the midst of of a mid-twenties nail-life crisis, because I'm not sure that I can continue my monogamous commitment to the nail salon I've been going to, off and on, for 10 years. So, I've been trying out some new places. This one I will return to! (Just not every time, because it's all the way the heck over the Golden Gate Bridge.) Yes, it's a very bare-bones looking salon. There are a handful of stations and a couple more nice chairs just for pedicures. There is a stand full of magazines. There are plenty of customers for a Saturday afternoon. But Tina graciously took us in and gave me a great french mani. And Dianne gave me a wonderful pedi. Both gave a super-sweet massage. And yes, I know their names, because they made a point to introduce themselves and learn my name, too. This is great customer service, because one of my issues with trying out new salons is that I don't know the woman working on me. It was nice to immediately be on a first name basis. It's only been one day later, but I have a good feeling about the longevity of my OPI polish. read more
