Wonderful experience with JTB! Walt and Jon were super helpful throughout the entire process from the estimate to completion. All my questions were always answered same day and communication was never an issue. They even provided a 3D rendering of what the yard would look like! Monday morning a large team of probably 10 or 12 workers showed up right on time and had the yard completed by Friday afternoon. We were expecting a long process and couldn't believe they completed everything in 5 days. They did a lot of work - gas lines to a custom firepit, raised planters with lights, a dog run, a paver walkway to my front yard, turf with drains, paver stepping stones, and a large paver patio area. They even had an awning guy come and reassemble an awning my dad had given me, as well as hooked up lighting and a ceiling fan. Very happy with the end result! A couple of my plants started to die and Walt responded right away that they would come take a look. They have a great warranty as well. Our experience started in May with the work beginning in July and taking about 7 work days. The Good - They were very prompt to come out and give an estimate and worked directly with my HOA on the plans with 3D imaging. During the estimate John the owner was present and was very reassuring repeatedly saying, with us we have you and will also be here for you if you have a problem later. Their hardscaping skills are very good. We installed 2 raised plant beds and a flat bed and also installed a large paver patio and 2 walkways. These are all very nice. In addition they installed a custom fountain that I purchased elsewhere that required water and electric. Most other landscapers couldn't or wouldn't quote this part of the job and that looks and works fantastic. They delivered and planted the tress and plants we picked out. John remained in contact and reassuring throughout the job. When the job was done it looked really great. The one exception was a debate over the size of boulders. During the estimate we discussed 5 boulders. The rocks they used as boulders are very small. 1 was only 11" long X 6" wide X 6" high and the rest were not much bigger. The rest and not so good They couldn't seem to start the job when promised, It kept getting pushed back. Thats no different than anybody else but frustrating. The often promised "we will always be here for you" disappears as soon as they are paid. Within 2 weeks we told them 2 of our trees and several plants were dead or dying. They replaced the plants and 1 tree saying that the other tree was not dead and "would come back" Two weeks later we had 2 dead trees. When we called John who had always been hands on he said we need to call the office, no problem with that. The office personally said there was nothing they could do as they only warrant trees for 30 days. I explained that we complained about the tree 2 weeks prior and John said it wasn't dead and would be fine. She called us back and said that they would do us a favor and plant the trees for free if we bought them. If they would haver replaced the one 2 weeks earlier when I told them it was dead t wouldn't have had to pay the nursery for it. Anyway they did plant the 2 trees but after they left I noticed the on was not in the ground straight and to this day I need to have the tree tied to stakes to get it to stand straight. They did install 29 low voltage landscape lights in the back and front yard. The package was quoted as 30 but somehow we ended up with 29. These lights look and work good until the early morning hours. At the same time every day the light begin going on and off intermittently at 30-40 second intervals. On Wednesday 9/6/23 I called the front office to report this problem with the lights. They said they would get back to me by Friday 9/8. On Wednesday 9/13 I called again and was told someone would be here on Tuesday 9/19 and that they would call to confirm the time on Monday 9/18. Tuesday 9/19 Midday I called to see when they would arrive at my house only to be told that they were too busy and would call me back by Friday 9/22. Again no call from them. After many attempts to get them that were met with more excuses and delays they finally agreed to be here Friday 9/29/23. I waited at home all day and they never showed. They did finally come out on Sunday 10/2/23 forcing me to change my plans for that day. They did split the lights into 2 wiring runs rather than the one which they said was overloading the transformer. I expressed my doubts that it would work as the lights stay on for hours but then every day a 4 Am they begin to go on and off. The following morning the lights did the same thing so I called immediately on Monday 10/2/23. They said they would consult with the owner for a plan and call me back. I never heard back . On 10/16/23 I sent them videos of the lights going on and off so they could see it for themselves. Again with them saying they will call and not calling. On 10/26 they finally did call and wanted to schedule someone to look at the lights on Wednesday 11/1/23. I told them I couldn't allow that as I was out of town that week but would be available the following week. They said the earliest they could do would be the week of 11/13/23. They never called to schedule so I called them on 11/17 and was told they were busy again and that they would call me to schedule something in December. It is now January and I have never received a phone call and yes my lights still become erratic every day. Occasionally I still think of John and wonder where he is as he certainly has not been there for us as he promised on that day 7 months ago. Again the hard scape work is very nice but I would find someone else to handle your plant material and lighting. I hope that I never have a problem with the hardscape because I know that I will never get any help from John or JTB landscapers. read more

The owner Jon B. reached to me after my update and assured me this isn't how they do business. We spoke 1/31/2024. Today is 4/1/2024 and since we have had one visit to our home to check the plants yet they did this back in June and said they'd be back in October when weather is better so the plants don't die. Well October became November and November became January because it's too cold. After the recent visit they said oh it's bad weather we can't do anything. 3/18/24 Jesse called to let me know they'll come next Monday and on Friday someone will call and let me know the timeframe to expect them. No follow up call whatsoever and my husband prepped the yard, move anything that would be in their way and they no showed. My husband spoke to Dion told him we weren't on the schedule. I called and spoke to Jesse and she told me he doesn't know what he's talking about, he only handles estimates and how she didn't work on Friday so she doesn't know anything. Jesse again told me the team will come out and replace the plants, not look at them again on 4/1 around 8 or 9am. No one has showed up and no one is answering their phones. We have an infant, so it's already really difficult to arrange for free time. We respect and work around JTBs schedule yet they can't respect our time. I expect our plants to be replaced within 2 weeks, otherwise will be submitting a formal complaint for not upholding their warranty. I would suggest you to not go with this company considering how much money you spend with them and they treat you like a no body afterwards. read more

We did our back yard with JTB. Initially all was well. As they were doing our front yard, they noticed my gas meter spinning. I called the gas company who, very quickly identified the issue. When JTB ran the gas line to my fire pit, they didn't use gas lines! The metal had completely corroded and was leaking a LOT of gas. It took the gas company two days to deem my backyard safe after using fans to blow the gas out. It literally could have blown up our home with the amount of gas leaking out. Our gas bill was $900! They did pay for it to be fixed with a qualified plumber but it doesn't change the fact that they are a grossly negligent company. They also didn't put weed barriers under most of the areas in my front and back yard. Many of the plants and trees that Kyle told me would work, died quickly. They have little knowledge regarding where to place plants but they claim to be experts. I lost hundreds in plants that I was later told would never have worked with so much sun. Their main focus is speed, they want to get the project done as fast as possible with little regard to safety. They also don't pull permits or get inspections on gas lines. They literally could have killed us with their negligence. We also had to redo the turf in the back yard, dog area, because it was the wrong product and they put the wrong stuff under the turf. It had no way to drain and started to smell terrible. They said they had provided extra drainage for me due to it being a dog area. It was all wrong. I waited a long time to review them but the owners snide comments on peoples' complaints sent me over the edge. Sorry if I hurt your feelings John! Oh... almost forgot that their employee who ran the gas lines almost got in a fist fight with my neighbor and my husband had to break it up. Class acts! Avoid at all cost! read more

We are SO IN LOVE with our new front and back yard thanks to JTB Landscapers. We went from a drab, rock and concrete only landscape, to a gorgeous exterior complete with trees, drip irrigation, artificial turf, pavers, stepping stones, a river rock formation, lighting, and a planter wall that accommodates plenty of seating. They even helped us install our bamboo fencing, which we purchased from another vendor. Kudos to each and every single one of the JTB crew members for transforming our outdoor living spaces to something we can thoroughly enjoy, and that includes our fur babies. After taking photos the same afternoon the project was completed, it was a bit of a weird feeling because our yard felt like it had always been what you see now. They cleaned up so well! No evidence of all the hard work they put in for six straight long days in the triple digit Vegas temps (BTW AMAZING work in only 6 DAYS!). At the start of the project, there were pallets of pavers, mounds of rock and sand, wheelbarrows, small tools, and even a compact loader. The team took great care in cleaning up (I'm sure our neighbors appreciated it, too) and we are so content with the final look. It is everything we had envisioned and more. Thank you, Kyle and Haley, for working with us on the design based on our budget, and the constant communication. Meshing their vision with ours was a great collaboration. Thanks to Ivan and Roman, and the rest of Crew #1 who were on the site from Day 1. Great assistance between Ivan and Gerard when shopping for trees and plants at the Nursery. And finally, to Slade and Crew #2 for the additional support with finishing touches and to ensure the project was completed on the date promised, which was record time in my opinion. We hope the refreshments and paletas provided were received as a small token of our appreciation for the early mornings and long, hot days while working at our home. Under Jon's (owner) supervision/suggestions/options available with our budget, the crew did a fantastic job transforming our front yard, rid of all cactuses & a leaning pine tree, to a clean look with flowers & trees to accent our corner lot w/beautiful paver walkways, auto lights at night & drip irrigation making maintenance simple for us. The front yard completion exceeded our expectations. I paid JTB $60,000.00 in full for their services per the contract to renovate my backyard. JTB deliberately did not pay SITE ONE (the material provider) knowing full well that they would seek payment by putting a lien on my property, which they did in the amount above $15,000.00. SITE ONE had mailed me a PRE LEIN notice when the work began on my property. When I asked JTB about the lein they assured me it was common practice and not to worry about it. I have emails, texts and recorded conversations with them confirming this. I have no reason to believe JTB had any intention of paying the materials supplier. All of my phone calls, texts and emails were responded with LIES from Jon, Walter and Yessinia or just not responded to at all. I believe the only reason JTB paid SITE ONE is the fact that SITE ONE had the means to hire an attorney and sue JTB for the money owed to them. Also, I am not the only JTB client that they treated like this. You can read multiple YELP, FACEBOOK and GOOGLE reviews with people complaining about the same situation. JTB is the type of contractors people warn you about. Completely dishonest with no empathy for their clients. Hard to believe they are still in business and still have a contractors license. One other thing I would like to mention is that prior to the job being finished, the owner Jon came to my property to collect payment. When I pointed out the jobs that needed completion he told me I was nitpicking, became angry, cursed at me and also threatened to "punch my teeth out" I have iPhone and Ring camera videos to prove it. read more

I described my small townhome backyard, mentioned what I had in mind, she basically laughed at me and said we don't do projects that small. I was very offended and if that's the case be more mindful where you drop your flyers. By the way, California money is here now and townhomes in Ispirada are selling for as high as 750k by toll brothers. Just WOW! JTB made our landscaping dreams a reality! Landscaping our oversized backyard at our new build seemed like such a daunting task initially. This, until Jon & Walt came for our initial consultation. They really understood the modern/minimalistic look we wanted to achieve. If you're looking to get your yard landscaped, don't look any further. JTB was doing work on a few of our neighbors' houses, and their work looked great so we called for an appointment. Starting with Haley at their office who was wonderful and immediately got us an appointment to meet with Kyle. Kyle was awesome, as he delivered a concept we were happy with, within our budget, all without pressure, upselling, or nonsense. With pure confidence, we signed and put a deposit. Haley delivered a 2D design of our backyard as promised and on time. Kyle kept on top of details, and informing us about the tons of rock deliveries in front of our house. (Note: We were back home in the Bay Area by this time.) Ivan, the on-site manager and his crew of 5-6 guys were at our house at 7am sharp starting to work. Since we were not physically there, Ivan FaceTimed us showing the progress and detailing the job, each day. (We were also able to view what was going on through our security cameras.) Our backyard is about 2,500 sf and they knocked it out in exactly two-days. Our backyard was 100% what we wanted and expected! After completion, they restored our front landscaping back to normal, cleaned our driveway, and even power washed our street from all the debris. The entire time from our initial call to completion, we always felt we were their priority, as communication was thorough, deliverables were on-time and concise. They love to put ads all over your door (even with CLEAR no soliciting signs) and when you call for a quote you better need $20k+ worth of work described before they consider sending someone out. The owner's snotty "I'm sorry we hurt your feelings" replies should send up big red flags. This will likely get pulled (see the 80+ removed reviews) as they seem to get their feelings hurt when people post how they really do business. Maybe don't advertise to places who don't want them. In addition, why advertise to places you won't consider? It's too bad Jon B responds to criticism like a child. From the reviews and responses he has a lot to learn about professionalism. With a recession looming you'd think business owners would be conscious of how they present themselves. read more

So I am reposting my review with a copy of the estimate, because I am appalled that the owner claimed that they didn't have direct interaction with a customer and Yelp removed my review. If the owner feels that his estimate was a fair market value, then leave the review and let your prospective customers have an idea of the rates that you charge. I did not make any false claims! I am only writing the review based on a ridiculous quote that was left with my husband today for 29K with a "generous" 3K discount for 26K WITHOUT plants. I was shocked, as most for the quotes have ranged between 5-7k for the same work, including the plants. I am not sure how they come up with these outrageous quotes...this could be someone's annual salary! I met Kyle on 08/11/2020. He was very professional and extremely easy to talk to. He listened patiently to what I had envisioned my backyard would be. His quote was competitive and they were able to start immediately. They started the following Monday on 08/17/2020. He said they would be done in four days. He was correct. On Monday at 6 am, a team of ten landscapers started work on my backyard led by Slade. Also Juan was instrumental with this well run team of hard working and professional landscapers. It was like an army coming in to get the mission done. This was a huge job but Slade and his team got the backyard done by Thursday 08/20/2020. They always picked up their phone when I called and answered all my questions. Extremely courteous and polite. The backyard looks amazing. I did get several other quotes but everyone else told me the job would get done in 3 to 4 weeks. The difference between JTB and the other landscaping companies is that JTB brings in 10 to 11 landscapers and gets the job done fast and done right the first time while the other companies only send 2 to 3 landscapers. JTB provides excellent service! They were very professional and allowed me to be involved in the design process down to the smallest details. Once the job began, it took 11 days from start to finish! Having done this several times in the past, I was amazed at the turn around. And it was done correctly...we had gas lines, water lines, and electrical lines added.
