Small town restaurant. Great people and very nice. Food was a little bland. Pork chili had no pork, just pieces of fat.

We stayed in Alamosa to visit the Sand Dunes. Looking for a good place for lunch we found Juanito's...great luck for us! The food was excellent, and my wife and I both love Mexican food so we can be rather picky. The service was fabulous, the margaritas tasty and strong and Juan, the owner, was taking the time to come check on every table. If you enjoy Mexican food and don't visit Juanito's you will definitely be missing out! read more

Recently took a trip to the sand dunes and was craving some good Mexican and margaritas. We drove by restaurants none had patios, and if they did weren't welcoming because of our dog, that was until we came to Juanitos who was super inviting. We felt very welcomed by the owners and the servers, the carnitas were amazing!!! I'm not just saying that because the whole experience was great but they were really good. The margs are delicious and strong just the way I like em. If you're looking for good Mexican drop by here you can tell they care about the restaurant by the quality of their food. read more

This place was great and welcoming. Francisco was a great server and took care of our group with custom items and great recommendations. We also were lucky enough to meet the owners, Juanito and his wife (I can't recall her name... maybe a result of too much tequila ). They are both great people who you feel good about supporting their business. We were going for a quick bite and drink and ended up making a night out of our stay. We didn't even make it over to bowling alley portion of the place! Lastly, once the bill came, me and my wallet were delighted to see how fair the pricing was. The green chile was absolutely fantastic! The hospitality was lovely, the atmosphere basic, but nice. The flavors of all the food were rich and tasty. We loved our margaritas and even went for a second round! The prices were reasonable. Only complaint was that there wasn't any background music, or anything like that. Wonderful food AND wonderful service! We've been traveling through Colorado and trying to follow Covid precautions. We asked for a table away from other people and the owner immediately showed us to an entirely empty large seating area with no one else in it. Food was wonderful- fresh and so good. Husband had a beef burrito and I had the chalupas. Best chalupas I've had. Just really good- good service and good food deserve to be rewarded. We wish them lots of success! read more

Took family of 6 for Mexican. There was only one other group in restaurant. Service was very slow, but ok. One very small dish of chips/salsa, and they charged for refills. Food was so-so at best, and was not hot. Overall bill was very pricey for the food. Plus, they required an 18% tip and then put a $4+ service fee on for using credit card. I think it was the worst and most expensive Mexican I've had. read more

Ate here with a large group passing through Alamosa on vacation. Some were satisfied with entrees others less so. Enchiladas not horrible. Green sauce was pink. Service was not great and maybe understaffed. Some idiot threw cheese on my truck while we were inside. Not the restaurant's fault...I don't think...but contributed to overall dissatisfaction with the evening. read more

Unfortunately, everything we had was just bland, I can understand that if there is good salsa to dress it up with but that wasn't the case. Maybe we went on an off night as the other reviews are very positive. Our experience was underwhelming. Service was nice but food was very average and prices are high. We ordered a side of rice and beans and it was $8?? The chicken quesadilla arrived on a large platter plate with only the quesadilla cut into small triangles...no salsa or sour cream to dip it into (which seems pretty standard at most places). With lots of other Mexican food options in Alamosa we won't be returning to this one. read more

Ditto the handshake and smile! Greeted by the owner, we were welcomed and shown to a table. My husband asked for a beer recommendation (something he always does... as a former home brewer) and I requested a frozen margarita. I was surprised to find it is homemade in a blender... no mix here! We ordered green chili, a side of beans, and tamales topped with green chili. The food arrived promptly and was delicious! Simply prepared, authentic taste and delicious! After a long day of driving, this hit the spot. Juan and his daughter, our server, are to be commended. We will be back! read more

Passing thru southern Colorado the last few days. this pork chile brought tears of joy to my eyes! Finally!! Took only 48 years to find traditional pork chile. Excellent! Are you drunk? Would you like the most generic Mexican "food" ever to grace these United States? If so, this is your spot!! If not, and you'd actually like to enjoy your meal, run far far away. The margarita was weak and seemed to be made with a store bought mix. Beans, guacamole, and shredded cheese were generic food service fare. Green chile was brown. Taquitos were over-fried and dry. The chile relleno was all breading and no chile. Service was decent, when they decided to find their way to our table, even though it wasn't busy at all at 7pm. Bathroom didn't have any paper products during multiple visits and after informing staff. Needless to say, I had a very pleasant time with the company I was keeping, but that says more about the company and less about the restaurant. read more

Service was good and friendly. The pre-dinner chips were great and the salsa was distinctive and tasty, full of roasted chilis. The food was on the low side of mediocre. I had an enchilada plate (served with beans, no rice). I had both red and green chile with mine, both pretty bad. The red chili was a pale orange color and they had clearly skimped on the main ingredient: chili powder! The green chili had specs of green chilis but did not taste of them. Probably won't go back. So many other choices in Alamosa. read more

This place looks a little run down, but the food and service are excellent! From the really traditional Mole and Menudo, to my favorites like tacos burritos and enchiladas, everything is great! We walked in and weren't acknowledged for several minutes while we stood and looked around the place. An unfriendly server came out and told us to choose our seat. She didn't seem very happy to be there and not welcoming or hospitable for us in the least. We have dietary restrictions and were looking for something to match what we needed but couldn't find anything. We decided we would leave instead but the server told us we had to pay $2.50 for the barely eaten chips and salsa on our table. We begrudgingly paid for our lousy and rotten experience. We asked for a to go container at least but later found to our extreme dissatisfaction and repulsion a small tomato worm in the burnt salsa. We don't recommend this place, it was a terrible experience for us who were simply looking for an enjoyable meal and quiet dinner. We had to give them a rating but we really give them no stars. read more

My husband and I travel to Alamosa periodically because of his job and Juanito's has become one of our favorite places to eat. The staff is friendly and accommodating every time we go there. The food is well prepared and tasty. They have a full bar and make a good Margarita. We recommend Juanito's to anyone looking for good food and friendly faces. read more
