As hard as I try, I cannot get behind jubala. I've heard many people say this is the best coffee in town but I disagree. I have ordered 3 different drinks and wasn't impressed with any of them- how can you go wrong with a vanilla latte? Inside is hot and humid and uncomfortable to sit in. Jubala is and has been one of my favorite local cafes since I've moved here. I have only been to the Hillsborough location, as I live close by, and it can get pretty busy during the school year but I usually never have problems so I don't make the trip to their other location. I have always been able to find parking on either the side of the building or in the lot directly behind it. An iced latte with an additional shot is my go-to, sometimes with caramel sauce or mocha sauce. But don't forget to check out their seasonal options too because those are always good. Most recently I've found that their food is also delicious! The turkey avocado sandwich is killer. I like to jazz it up by ordering it on sourdough and adding arugula (which does cost a little bit extra) BUT, here's a great life hack for you. As your side, order half chips and half salad- but put the greens on the sandwich! Boom, no extra charge and you still get plenty of chips. Their lemon poppyseed loaf is also crazy good and I order it whenever I see they have it. There's nothing like sitting by the big windows, enjoying a midday espresso & snack with a friend and this is one of my favorite places to do that. 10/10! P.S. Since CV19, I am unsure if they are allowing people back into the cafe but I have ordered curbside pick up through their online ordering system (which was a super pleasant experience) and the staff were wearing masks when I stopped by for my order! Now the food and coffee are equally if not more amazing. Personally I'm a fan of their iced chai tea here, but that's just my opinion. It reminds me a little bit of horchata. If I were to open a coffee shop, this is how I'd want it to be - fresh, organic coffee; unique, fresh baked goods; a rustic decor; and a low punk rock over the speakers! We had never had Counter Culture beans before, but are sure glad we tried it. Their seasonal drinks were delicious, and you could tell it was a quality, well-made coffee by the baristas. I really enjoyed watching them work during my stay, they are clearly experts! I am not a student nearby, but I could tell this was a really popular spot to mingle and study. I wish I had something like this near me "in my day." They had a wide selection of both food and drink - we did the lemon rosemary cake, and the oatmeal cream pie. It was the BEST oatmeal cream pie my wife and I have ever had! I am still thinking about it. Order it, you won't regret it! read more

This place is just great. I don't give 5 stars until I've been to a place several times. I've had 5 star service and coffee / food on every visit. The coffee is as good as I've had anywhere. Please be aware there is a potential health concern about this location. I was sitting next to the kitchen and there were 3 employees discussing how multiple employees at this location are sick currently with a respiratory infection (including the employees that were chatting), and have pending drs appointments. This was concerning to witness for SEVERAL reasons, especially since the employees chatting were cooking and delivering food to the tables and not wearing masks. I love all things Jubala! The aesthetics, the coffee, the sandwiches, the teas, desserts, vibes, and even the merch! Sadly the seats are very limited and this location particularly is pretty crowded all the time- thanks, WolfPack! I tried the turkey avocado sandwich recently, and it is soooo good! There's a kick to it, so be prepared for that. I typically shy away from turkey (I don't like the smell), but this sandwich was superb. It's not cheap, but I would definitely order it again the next time I'm there for lunch. I chose the side salad to pair with it, and the dressing was delicious. Well this review might be slightly biased because I am not a big fan of coffee shops, but my girlfriend is, so here I am. We came on a Sunday morning and seating was a little tricky as they don't have that many seats. The place was busy and very hippie-ish. We were seated at a long table that you share with other guests. You walk up and Order your coffee as well as your food and then they call out your name. We got some breakfast sandwiches on homemade sweet biscuits as well as some waffles. The breakfast sandwich was tasty, but especially the homemade biscuit. I had sausage, egg, and cheese, and it had the sweet and sour combination going on. The waffles were kind of forgettable, however. It's a nice little coffee shop, however I would definitely say it may be difficult to get a seat and the food at least was rather small portions. The price on everything seemed to be rather overpriced and I'm not necessarily rushing to get back. read more

Raleigh, N.C. Came here for my morning latte. Total experience was just above average but granola was good. Latte had nice rich nutty flavor on top, but the rest of it below the froth layer was coffee flavored milk. Compare this with the downtown Bittersweet and you will see what I mean. Maybe the targeted customer here prefers a mild roasted caffeinated beverage. Definitely not a dark roast. Also they will never be sued for accidental scalding as the beverage is nowhere near was I consider 'Hot". Yeah I know there is, in some circles, the idea that maximum flavor is at a certain temperature. Am I the only one who appreciates a hot brew? The biscuits are good, but reminds me, in appearance and taste, of a scone. The apple butter topping is tasty, and nicely offsets the dryness of the scone, err biscuit. read more

I ordered an iced cortado with a slice of almond cake. The cortado was very good, strong and citrusy. Perfect amount of ice etc. The cake was not too sweet but very much like comfort food. Moist and nicely baked on the top. My wife got the chocolate chip cookie which I can guarantee used real butter. I also got a nice glass cup for just $6. I was stoked when I found out Jubala was opening a 2nd location on Hillsborough Street / NCSU campus. Located in the bottom of the Aloft hotel, there's a decent amount of street parking & a few spots in the garage behind it. The coffee shop is accessible from the street & inside Aloft, and there's a decent amount of seating inside as well as on the side patio. You might even get your hipster card punched here if you're lucky. :) Their espresso drinks are great bc they're not too sweet (think powdered mochas instead of syrupy mochas). And in the tiny glass windowed kitchen, they cook up some scratch-made biscuits. Top it with pimento cheese, hearty bacon, and a fried egg if you choose, and you'll have a mouthful of delightful breakfast sandwich. Yuuuuum. All in all, this is a great spot to snag a biscuit and coffee (the two will be ~$12). It's not the cheapest but it's definitely worth it! read more

Jubala Village Coffee does it again with a beautiful new space across from the historic Bell Tower on Hillsborough Street, at The Loft. There's retail parking in the back and plenty of seating, and the always fresh Counter Culture coffee is spot on and delicious. Two high tech espresso machines, friendly and skilled baristas, and a selection of prime single origin beans and blends on tap for the brew bar add up to a truly great coffee experience. The wide open kitchen puts out some of the best biscuits and waffles in the area - don't miss the country ham and fried egg combo - and tasty sandwiches that hit the spot. Couldn't taste the coconut at all, but it was still a wonderful creamy/sweet type of iced coffee - my staple favorite :). The cookie came out beautifully toasty, A+, I wasn't expecting that!
