Ok, so I've been wanting to try a smoothie from Erewhon for a while now and was finally in the area…read moreto try it! I went here on a Saturday around 12:24pm and there was a wait! Their smoothie section is inside of a grocery store, which added to the confusion. The multiple lines here made it confusing since they had a cafe and bakery section and another section for food items. I eventually found out I was supposed to order Erewhon drinks from the tablet instead of wait in line and then later found out I was waiting in the wrong section to pick up my drink. I ordered the Blueberry SYRN smoothie from Sydney Sweeney through the tablet. After waiting about least half an hour, that was when I was told where to pick up my drink that I ordered on the tablet. The drink still looked pretty when I picked it up, but it didn't taste like anything special. The smoothie still tasted good though, so not much to complain about that, besides the high price tag of their drinks (it was $22). Now, enough about the smoothie section, the rest of this store looked very well organized with their products and it looked like they sell good quality items here. The store looked organized because I liked how they had all the labels facing out, unlike other stores with their drinks section. The meats and sushi section looked fresh, they have a colorful variety of fruits and veggies too. They also give some free food samples throughout the store, so that was nice. I'd recommend this place for the experience. It's cool how this is a grocery store where you can buy fresh food and drinks here. It's also a good place if you're looking for some colorful veggies.

Whether I'm stopping by to grab something to eat, hanging out on the patio, or coming for one of their live music events, the energy is always so good. Seriously, if you haven't tried that combination yet, I had to put you on. What makes Simply Wholesome special to me though is that it feels like so much more than just a restaurant. Between the food, health market, music, events, and people, it really feels like a community space. Definitely one of those LA gems I'm always happy to support.

Well, my family and I just moved into the neighborhood, so I finally got the chance to check it out. I honestly felt like a tourist walking around. Half of the store is a market filled with supplements, herbs, oils, snacks, and other health products, while the other half is a restaurant. I took my time walking down every aisle just to see everything they had. The prices were a little higher than what I've seen elsewhere, but they definitely carry a great selection. My husband and I tried the jerk chicken patty and the shrimp & crab patty. Both were really good, but the jerk chicken patty was my favorite. I also ordered the Austin Martin smoothie, and it did not disappoint. Now that we live in the neighborhood, I know I'll be back often to try more things on the menu.

The process was definitely different from a regular doctor visit, but honestly, it was a really interesting experience. Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. If you use the prescription and 2nd time you only pay for the tea of $85. They take credit cards but there is a $6 transaction fee.

Parking is usually pretty easy although I'd recommend staying away during peak Pilates hours because they do share a lot with a very trendy place. It is small so the selection is limited although i have found most of the brands they carry are more organic vs. big-box brands. The service here is not all that great to be honest but I don't put that on the store, I put that on the culture. Anyway it's a grocery store, you don't come here for great service. The prices are pretty OK. I mean for what you get it's honestly not bad. But this isn't a place to come and shop for deals. The one gripe I do have is more often than not, there are those annoying street-fundraisers standing in front of the door trying to get you to sign up for a monthly donation to green peace or whatever save-the-wales charity, like whatever bro I don't need a lecture with my groceries. They also have a really good vitamin section here. Like several aisles dedicated to supplements and a couple of staff specific to that section. Happy shopping.

I really really hope they seek out a new ranch that's comparable to what spring lake ranch was prior to being bought out. I believe this is harassment and retaliation for my unfavorable review. I was also told that Miguel de Alba learned the employee had spoken with me and then told everyone not to let me in. After the original incident, I stopped going to the store. I returned only because an employee approached me, told me Miguel de Alba was gone, and encouraged me to come back. That same employee later told me that Miguel de Alba had instructed employees not to let me in. I was accused of shoplifting and prevented from leaving the store. There was security-camera footage of the incident, so the owners can review it and see what happened for themselves. I believe it is unacceptable for a manager to ban a customer because of an unfavorable review, especially after the customer was accused of theft and prevented from leaving. I also believe it is unacceptable for management to involve employees and other store locations in what appears to be an ongoing effort to keep me out and punish me for speaking publicly about my experience. Because of these events, I no longer feel safe returning to this store or visiting other locations in my neighborhood. I believe the way I have been treated amounts to harassment. I still appreciate the employees who have treated me well and believe the food is good. My concerns are specifically about Miguel de Alba, the management, and the way this business has handled my complaint. I will not be returning or attempting to resolve this directly with Miguel de Alba. I am documenting my experience and would still welcome direct communication from the owner.
