Happened to be in the area, looked up what restaurants are around and was so excited to see Juicy Dumpling, as I really like the downtown location. Ambiance is average. I wasn't expecting anything fancy but the space was definitely average. I ordered the pork soup dumplings, pan fried buns and shrimp wontons in spicy sauce. The pan fried buns were delicious and very juicy, just like the ones in the downtown location. The shrimp wontons were yummy too, and they were served hot. The pork soup dumplings were good in terms of the taste, but they were lukewarm, which made them not as enjoyable. While I enjoyed my meal here, I definitely prefer the downtown location. read more

This is my first time trying Juicy Dumpling after hearing lots of hype about it from family. To order, you walk up to the counter in the back, and then they will call out your number. There are tables for you to sit as well. This is what my sister and I got: S1 - Regular Pork Soup Dumplings (6 pieces) - This was honestly just okay to me. The soup dumpling was already cooled down by the time we got ours, so it didn't have that fresh out of the steamer basket taste. I feel like these were sitting out for a while. We weren't given any spoons to eat it with either. However, the pork flavor was there and there was a good amount of soup in each dumpling. P3 - Pan Fried Pork Juicy Buns (4 pieces) -This was the best item we got! The outside layer of the bun was thick, the pork was tender and juicy, and it had a great pan fry to it. Highly recommend this item. P10 - Pan Fried Siu Mai (4 pieces) - This was the worst item we got. The pork was so bland with no flavor whatsoever, and the whole thing tasted soggy despite being pan fried. Overall, this is a quick cheap eats place with decent food. This location of Juicy Dumpling is in the midtown Toronto area along Yonge near Berwick Ave. Menu is exactly the same as their downtown location where the main reason why you go here is for the $3.99 soup dumplings (for 6 pieces!). They also have other offerings as well including pan fried juicy buns (4 pieces), buns, shumai, beef meatballs, etc. There is a few tables at this location for you to enjoy your food but I believe majority of people usually get their food to go. I stopped by Juicy Dumpling on a Sunday around noon. The place looked pretty quiet but as soon as I entered a few others entered after me. The store did have a weird smell (a garbage like smell) and I did notice they had their garbage and recycling bins near the front of the store. I ordered 2 soup dumplings and 1 pan fried juicy buns at the counter. Staff were friendly even though I messed up ordering my items the first time. My order was made at a reasonable time and I took them to go to enjoy at home. Food wise, the dumplings were great! I've only been to the Chinatown location but these were delicious as well. Overall, it is quite similar however. The interior has seating for around 10-15 people as well as some claw machines. You can exchange cash for tokens. The midtown location is so disappointing and I much much prefer the downtown Spadina location! I came on the weekday around 2:30pm and there was one other customer aside from me. I waited a while at the counter because they had no system to alert the staff in the back if there is a customer at the front. There were two people working from what I could tell and they were chatting in the back until one of them noticed me and let the other know to come to the counter. I ordered the S1 just the usual pork soup dumplings (price is now 3.99 from the previous 2.99 back in the day haha). I handed them a $5 bill and she gestured to the machine. I did not know they were credit only? They also had a cash tip jar next to the pos machine... anyway not a big deal. While I was paying, the staff member was already putting my order in a plastic bag. It took no time at all. A bit too fast. At the condiments area there was only soy sauce and hot sauce I had to ask them for vinegar and sadly they seem to only have white vinegar and not black like the downtown location. When I opened the container, it was a bit sad. All the dumplings were deflated and each had a visible tear when I went to grab each one from the top. There was no soup inside each of them :( I think the worse part for me was the bottom of each dumpling was soggy. The skin was soggy so that the meat ball inside was so close to just tearing out from the bottom as I lifted each dumpling. I have never had this issue from other establishments and definitely not from the downtown location. I am not sure if they just gave me a prepared one that was sitting in the takeout container for ages or some other reason. I think I will stick to visiting the downtown location only. read more

We love this place for a cheap, delicious food. We usually order a few trays of the classic xiao long bao (soup pork dumplings) and some sesame balls. Sometimes maybe some scallion pancake or fried dough stick if we have family over. Still a cheap take out meal considering how many people are enjoying the meal. We share maybe 6 trays between 5 people along with some sides. 1.5-2 trays per person is filling enough without sides. The chicken wings have a cumin taste and are a bit spicy! The classic soup dumplings are the best. They used to be $2.99 for 6 but now everything on the menu has gone up in price. I tried the pan fried, but by the time they got home - they weren't crunchy anymore. Just tasted like a greasy version of the classic. We have also tried the pork and shrimp - it's not labeled which is which, but we didn't feel it was worth the extra cost. We love the sesame balls - it's sweet with a paste inside, dessert. Comes in sets of 5. We have tried the wonton soup and didn't feel it was worth $13 a bowl. So our fave items are classic pork steam soup dumplings and sesame balls! read more

Walking into this location, it has more space than the Spadina location but only a few tables if you were to dine in. It is more of a takeout spot. This is a review for delivery Inevitably, once out of the steamer, the wrapper of the steamed pork mini soup dumplings ($2.99 for 6 pieces) will harden. Nevertheless, even with the delayed delivery (this Eglinton cross-town construction traffic is a bane to freshness) the dumplings held up so that I could still pick them up with chopsticks without any breakage. The filling was nicely seasoned, and the dumpling contained plenty of broth; I could only imagine how much better they'd be fresh. The same dumpling can be ordered pan-fried ($3.99 for 6 pieces) and that extra crust on the bottom, while not pronounced, makes it a little easier to deliver arriving warmer. However, considering the dish commands a 25% premium for this very lightly done crust, I'm not sure this extra step is worth the additional $1. I'd go with the pan-fried chicken dumplings ($3.99 for 4 pieces) instead, while it also could use more time on the grill, at least the dish is unique. These dumplings are bigger in size, just two are substantial, and the filling is much denser. Still, these weren't as nicely seasoned, so you really need a dipping sauce to counteract the bland chicken mixture. read more

This is my first time trying their sanji bao and it was so good! Just remember to be mindful that there's soup inside. Some people recommend using a straw to sip the soup before eating it so it's less messy. I just bite into it being careful not to spill the soup all over me. We tried new stuff - Shumai with pork onion , pan fried chicken dumplings.. these were ok but I think we'll go back to the soup filled ones next order. But what was crack-a-lacking good was the cumin fried chicken.it's deep fried, cuminy spicy but supremely delicious! Have it on a rainy or cold evening. I loved their vegetable bao bun with shiitake mushrooms and spinach. Sooo spongy and filling. Please note their stuff mostly comes from their main kitchen & may not be super fresh sometimes (IMO) but definitely the best purchase this side of town for the price. So believe me, I know good soup dumplings :) Given the low prices at Juicy Dumpling, I was skeptical of the quality. But no more. These are TRULY excellent xiao long bao. I recommend going for P1, the pan-fried pork dumplings, which are freaking phenomenal and better than the regular steamed version (S1). Two orders is enough to fill me up for lunch. The pan-fried juicy pork buns (P3) are also excellent. So, you took a bite and squirted your partner in the face with soup? We've all been there. Here's how I suggest you eat your soup dumpling: place dumpling on a spoon, bite off the top, pour in a little vinegar (they provide malt vinegar with every order...red wine vinegar also works if you have it at home) and then eat the dumpling. It was a 5-10mins wait, and everything was juicy and hot! Gotta be careful the juice will explode. I didn't even get a chance to get a picture cause they were all gone. I love soup dumplings and I love inexpensive snacks, so I was super excited to see Juicy Dumpling open up in Midtown with a big sign advertising 6 dumplings for under $4. I ordered 6 steamed pork soup dumplings. They were alright, a bit light on the filling. I also ordered a spicy pork bun, which might have been a mistake given that this is a dumpling place. I found the colour of the filling to be almost greyish and the taste was overwhelmingly sweet compared to other pork buns I've had. The pickup experience was quick and easy. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here again, but I might grab some dumplings if I'm in the area. For that price, can you really go wrong?! read more

Really tasty soup dumplings and a welcome addition to the area, but a bit worse than the Spadina location, due to a couple things: The pan-fried dumplings were not fried long enough, so they weren't crispy on the bottom, just slightly burned since I assume they were only on the pan for a short time on high heat, and a poor selection of sauces compared to Spadina. The inside is also incredibly spartan, looks like a work in progress. Other than that, the soup dumplings themselves are pretty tasty, and it's always great value. read more

Honestly sad to be writing this review as I love juicy dumplings at the Spadina/Dundas location. I had juicy dumplings at this location the first time this year and it just wasn't the same. I live right across the street and picked up take out. I got 2 pan fried dumplings, 1 steam dumpling, 1 green onion pancake, 1 cumin spicy chicken. It took them 2 mins to wrap up and 2 mins to walk home. So total less than 5 mins for me to have my food ready to eat. However, My food was cold. Which means, the food wasn't steamed fresh and it was just left sitting there. The green onion pancake was either over fried or double fried but nonetheless cold. It was hard and rubbery, I couldn't even chew through it. Honestly, it wasn't even edible. The spicy chicken was SPICY. It was covered in spice and it was so spicy I took 1 bite and couldn't even eat it. The chicken was very dry as well. It was overcooked/double fried. It was awful. This is the worst experience I've had at juicy dumplings and I'm really sad to say, DO NOT TRY ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT THE DUMPLINGS!! Even then, the dumplings aren't hot and fresh :'( read more
