I normally love the crab meat dumplings but not this time. It was fishy and dry! No liquid what-so-ever inside...such a bummer. The pork dumplings on the other hand was great! Definitely lived up to the Juicy part. They have a small station on the side where you make your own dipping sauce. Remember to grab some spoons if you want to eat it "Soup Dumpling" style with some vinegar in your spoon. We came around 11am on a Friday, and the place was semi-full. We were able to grab seats next to the window. Once you order at the counter, you are handed a buzzer, allowing you to sit down while waiting for food. We ordered the pan-fried dumplings with pork, and the classic steamed dumplings with crab and pork. Overall, very juicy and delicious, but I think the pan-fried ones could have been more crispy on the bottom (like traditional guo tie). The line was hella poppin on a Saturday afternoon but my friend informed me that it goes by fast and it did. I ordered a P3 and an S1, which is pan fried juicy buns and mini pork soup dumplings. This was my first time having soup dumplings, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. It's crazy that it's $3 for 6 soup dumplings cuz that's a whole meal for me. I only ate 2.5 of my pan fried dumplings cuz I was super full. I was at my limit. I preferred the soup dumplings over the juicy buns. The soup dumplings are so hectic to eat, I need like third hand to pour the vinegar inside the soup dumpling. Speaking of, the vinegar, it's bomb! I was afraid of the soup being scalding hot, but obvs it wasn't. It was just warm. The pan fried pork dumplings were just whatever. I found the wrapper to be a little too thick. These were hella hot and I had to poke a hole in all of them to let them cool down a bit. I'm interested in trying out more soup dumplings from other places. Juicy Dumpling is a trendy new dumpling joint that opened recently in the heart of Chinatown, attached to the Dragon City Mall. Their signature dumplings are the xiaolongbao (steamed mini soup dumplings) and sangjibao (pan fried juicy buns), both popular Shanghai soup-filled street dumplings. They're priced very, very cheap for Toronto standards, and that's their main selling point. I tried both their xiaolongbao and sangjibao, as well as their spicy shrimp wontons. I enjoyed the xiaolongbao and sangjibao. They were both juicy and the broth was rich and flavourful. The skin of the xiaolongbao was pretty thick though, which was fine for me (but probably not for those that prefer their dumplings with thinner skin). My coworker told me it might just be the way northern China prefers their soup dumplings. The spicy shrimp wonton were okay; there was definitely a bit too much vinegar in them, which kind of soured the taste a bit. They were also not spicy at all, despite the name. Overall, Juicy Dumpling's dumplings are pretty alright! I may have had some complaints about them but at that price point they are a very good addition to Chinatown for cheap dumplings and snacks. read more

A really nice spot for a casual lunch or to pick up some dumplings on the go as a snack. The people here definitely know what they're doing so the line moves quickly if you're in a rush. I was sceptical at first seeing how cheap the dumplings were (used to be $1.99 for 6 soup dumplings, but let's not talk about that) but once I tried it, I became a believer. Once you pick your dumplings or other dishes (they also have some sweet snacks) you can make your own sauce to dip the dumplings in and then enjoy. I would check out the soup dumplings (that's what they're known for),but the other dumplings are also very good. If it's your first time it might be ideal to order a selection of dumplings so you know which ones you like and don't like for next time. The one downside I would say, isn't with the food, but with the amount of packaging. Each order of dumplings comes with its own separate package, which seems wasteful. read more

Steamed, fried, mini, regular, noodles! We got the regular fried mini-juicy pork dumplings (6) and fried mini-juicy crap dumplings (6). Love love love the regular pork dumplings! It was so delicious! Bursting with flavors! However the crab version, while more pricey, was not as good... it was a bit too fishy... and dry. I would recommend getting a bunch of the regular pork ones & chow down! Tip: self serve mix bar - get the plastic dipping cups, mix 2/3 Vinegar + 1/3 Soy Sauce! Pour some sriracha in another dipping cup! Also, grab spoons to hold up your dumplings and GO to town! I've been twice - got the XLB and the saan Ji Bao for $4 (for four) and my oh my, a meal for less than $8 sounds just juicy to me! I brought my best friend the last time and she loved it. So much that she went back the next day. You're not going to impress anyone by the decor or even set up of the restaurant. It's basically fast food and consider yourself lucky if you find a table as soon as you enter. But don't worry, the turnover is fast and the sauces are help yourself! Yay I'm a fan! Tried this place for the first time last night and I quite enjoyed it. You definitely can't beat the prices for the soup dumplings - for $2.99 plus tax, you get 6 steamed pork soup dumplings, and for $3.99 plus tax, you get 6 pan fried pork soup dumplings. For about 50 cents per piece, this really isn't bad and I'm not complaining at all. The service was super quick too and I got my dumplings in less than 4 minutes tops. These aren't your DinTaiFung quality soup dumplings but they taste quite good for what you pay for and definitely hit the spot when you're craving some good soup dumplings but don't want to break the bank. Each soup dumpling is quite large and 6 pieces made for a filling snack. You'd definitely want to order more soup dumplings if you're really hungry, or try some of their other dishes. But the options were good and everything I got was delicious! This place was packed! It's a small hole in the wall with very few tables. I was lucky I found a spot to sit! The wait for my food was pretty long, but that was expected with how long the line was! I got the pork soup dumplings and the chicken pan fried dumplings. Everything was fairly priced. The dumplings I got were really tasty! Hit them with some soy sauce and they're pretty good! The pork soup dumplings were the best part! After ordering with the cashier, you will get a beeper that will ring when youre order's ready. The food came fairly quickly after ordering. The soup dumplings are what youd get at regular Shanghai restaurants; super juicy and tasty!! I was honestly so surprised how delicious they were as I was skeptical at first due to the low price. The fried juicy buns were a bit small compared to other places, but for the price, you cant complain, and plus they were also very juicy inside as well. The pan fried soup dumplings were also surprisingly juicy as well as I was worried the heat from pan frying them would take it away. Definitely no comparison with Ding Tai Fung's Xiao Long Bao but for the price itself, I must admit I was really impressed with the taste! Tried all 3 XLB - Steam Pork ($2.99), Pan-fried Pork ($3.99) and Pan-fried Crab+Pork ($6.99). And among the 3, the best one for me is the Pan-fried Pork. The skin is not thick and just right and not doughy, the soup is flavourful and hot and the filling is cooked which is the opposite of the Steam Pork Soup Dumpling. The filling tasted raw and the soup inside the dumpling is cold. There is also nothing special about the Crab/Pork plus it's more expensive. It gets busy during the weekends but the line goes by fast. Will surely come back when craving for dumplings/xiao long bao since the price is right and the food is decent.
