We've eaten here quite a few times and I feel like each time I like it less and less. The kids really like the fresh donuts. They are tasty. Great portions on the meals, but service and food quality has been getting worse. Today we were served cold food. The biscuits and gravy were bland. My boyfriend and I went there today for a brunch. We were seated quickly but it was 11ish, which was good. Our waitress really didn't seem to care . The only time we saw her was when she took out order, brought our food, and gave us our check. As the food goes my omelet was so oily you could see it all over the plate and tasted way too buttery. The sausage links were huge and over cooked and the jimmy potatoes that come with it are way to spicy. The waitress seen me eat them and I started to cough because they were so spicy. We decided to stop in after seeing the write up in the Chicago Tribune the service was slow with the hostess disappearing for almost 5 minutes. i can only assume that she saw people waiting. We ordered the breakfast sliders and a breakfast sandwich all with Jimmy's potatoes. The food was greasy to the point that we were not feeling well and ended up throwing half of it away. Had we stayed at the rataurant, i would have sent the food back, payed the check and left. Juicy-O is our Black Friday tradition. We always hit up a few stores and then head on over to Juicy-O. The donuts are definitely the best part. So tiny, but so tasty! The service here is often a little hit or miss, but the food is always solid. The menu is huge and they have pretty much every breakfast staple here including a variety of healthy options. The service and food was really good. The only thing I didn't like was the rude manager or owner behind the counter (older male). He wasn't rude to customers but rude to staff. He was barking orders at the staff and yelling at them about things including not wiping a table literally right after someone got up. I love Juicy-O. The Jimmy's potatos make every breakfast better as do the free donut holes at the start of the meal. Their large portions are served quickly even on days when there is a wait to be seated. Their fresh juices are fantasic and so are the bubble teas and specialty coffees. The food was excellent. The motto held up to its quality. We walked in at 2:00. The donuts were amazing. We felt rushed during our meal and the manager was telling his staff to hurry up cuz he has "shit to do." Our server yelled from table one to the girl standing in the middle of the restaurant to grab 2 waters for her table that has been sitting there for at least 15 mins. They had just got their food when she realized they had no drinks. We had to ask for a refill on ours and nothing was pre-bused from our server. My first visit , greeted by very nice hostess , very nice decor . First waitress was mad at world , second was in love with the world . I love the donuts and the wall signs... that alone will get me back there. The breakfast options are good, nice options, nothing to crazy like Eggstacy (which i sorely miss), but Juicy-O does it simple and good. Servers are extremely friendly and food comes out quickly. Gets busy on weekends, so don't think you can walk in with a large group easily... suggest 4 or less. The hostess who sat my bf and I gave off the vibe that she didn't care about us and our concerns. As we entered the restaurant we were greeted then she said to follow her. As we followed her she was like 10 feet ahead of us and pointed to a booth (which we didn't see her point to a booth since she was so far ahead of us) so we just stood there until she turned around and said, " Oh, I said you guys can sit there." She did not give us any menus to even look at when we sat down at our booth. Their booths are very small. My bf and I kept moving the table back and forth to reach a comfortable spot for both of us while the hostess finally got us some menus she saw that we didn't seem comfortable but didn't do anything about it or bring up a suggestion. Our waitress finally came took our orders, etc. The food quality sucks and is extremely greasy. My eggs that I ordered over-easy tasted like it was cooked in Canola Oil. After my friends were Crying for us to go here... We finally did .. I think the highlight of our meal were what this place is known for.. those delicious doughnuts.. After that.. the meal was that of a IHOP or something. Not that IHOP is bad as there are things on that Menu that I can get down with. But The hype of this place isn't all of that. OH MY GOD --- plan on an extra workout or two after eating here. It stats out with two mini-donuts per person (think round churro) and then gets more fattening from there. I LOVED IT! Decent joint. Very popular it seems. I went at around 10:30am on a Saturday and there was a 10-15 minute wait. The food took a long time to arrive, and the service wasn't that great. There's nothing incredibly noteworthy about it, but it's a place to get brunch if you don't mind a little wait. Extremely good breakfast, and the inside is much nicer than the mini-mall face. I found the food to be consistently good. The only bad thing is that their waitresses can be a bit vanilla. I went in with a buddy who looks slightly intimidating (She's a heavy metal kid with some piercings), and the waitress would not make eye contact with her, and she only spoke to me. Went here for brunch with my parents over the summer. I was impressed by their large selection of vegetarian choices and opted for a panini. It sounded good (fresh mozzarella, pesto, tomato) but didn't exactly deliver and I left a little disappointed. The mozzarella pieces were too large for the sandwich and were thus cold while the rest of the sandwich was warm and crispy. Might have better luck with a different menu option. I saw this place on groupon, decided to look it up and it sounded good. We went on a Sunday morning, but we only had to wait 10 or less minutes for a seat. As soon as we sat down we had fresh donuts, and the waitress took our drink order. After we were half way through the donuts and finally decided on what to order, the waitress came back fast! Everything is home made..they had a breakfast bruscetta that was much larger than I expected and my boyfriend who's a big guy got the country breakfast with biscuits and gravy..the sausage and sauce was fresh and even he had leftovers. The free donuts tasted fresh, velvety..and two big breakfasts, coffee, plus taxes was $27, which is incredibly reasonable for a home made breakfast. However manager did not great us and only waved his hand as a gesture to walk with hostess who also did not greet. Manager was sweating and obviously stressed out. This is my favorite breakfast place since moving from the city. I've been here (almost) every weekend for the past year, I'd say that says a lot for it. The diner has fun decorations and amazing food. Instead of bread, they give you doughnuts as a starter - and they're delicious! They do serve lunch but the breakfast is always better. The portions are always huge here too. From pancake flights, pesto skillets, to stuffed french toast, this place has every breakfast wish covered. This place is a mess.....took 15 minutes after seating, to have anyone come by, yet 2 surrounding tables, seated more than 5 minutes after us, got drink orders taken and the donuts. (same server). Look, I grew up with alcoholic parents, I think I know ahat it smells like...that and the glazed over eyes. I then FINALLY make my drink orders....I ask, are there kids menus? I mean, why didn't the hostess provide them to us UPON BEING SEATED. DUH! Well, duh, add another 30 MINUTES total by the time she brought them (after 2 more reminders) for us just to make our order. The food is nothing to write home about, so I'm done with this place entirely. If you're in ANY KIND of hurry, this place is NOT for you. You need two HOURS minimum for breakfast, which ironically, became lunch by the time we got it. The check-out cashier couldn't even cash out the woman in front of me who kept apologizing. I think the 8-deep line behind me was just as sorry that ANY of us came here. NO ONE left happy. The cashier was like a robot that had no batteries. Been here several times, multiple locations. Always good food. The service at the downers grove butterfield road location is not that fast, and their servers don't seem like happy people. The J on route 83 has a great staff and they're always busy. But the food is consistently good. read more
