Now that they've completed the job at my house, allow me to provide yet another glowing review. Chris and I connected not long after my request for a quote and he came by my house in the next day or so. After spending a little time in the attic, he came down to give a thorough breakdown of what was in the attic and a couple of different paths I could take (e.g. removing all the existing insulation before blowing in the new product; leaving the existing insulation and simply blowing the new stuff over the top of it). He answered every question I asked and had a formal estimate (which included detailed photos of what he saw up in the attic) to me the next day. Chris promised that the team coming to do the install would be top-of-the-line -- and he was right. Dave led the crew, who were very respectful of my house and used floor coverings and booties throughout the installation. They removed all the old insulation and got the new stuff in place in about 3 hours. Dave had me inspect the work before departing and was also happy to answer a couple of follow-up questions I had. He was very talkative and informative, and he went above and beyond in his inspection and communicating what he saw and what possible solutions might be. The problem is that the townhouse my wife and I own does not retain heat very well. As a result, the heater is on all the time during the winter (even at a low temperature setting). To save on electricity, we wanted to see about getting some new insulation. The owner was very honest with us and said that to replace the old insulation would involve a lot of time and money for a hugely invasive process that might not be worth it in the end. He provided with tons of free information and advice to help make the right decision for us and consider alternative options that didn't involve working with his company. They installed SunPower panels which a couple of my friends in the solar industry thought was a little high end for such a simple job. One was quoted as saying these were the Mercedes Benz of panels and shouldn't need something this expensive for a simple roof installation. I didn't think much of it at the time. Fast forward to current day. I went through a major renovation and added a new roof (and new direction). I contacted Edge in March to talk to them about getting a reinstallation. It took multiple weeks to get pricing for a simple 19 panel reinstall and I got into contract with Edge in mid April. It is now the last day of July (3 1/2 months later) and I was just notified that they still haven't submitted the plans to get a permit. In DC, I'm guessing that it will be multiple weeks/months more to get approval of the permits once they are submitted. Every time I email, I don't receive a response for at least a week. I've called multiple times now asking for someone in management to give me a call to discuss. Crickets. I wish I had the option to go with another company but given the Sunpower panels, no other company in DC will do the install due to the specialization needed to install Sunpower electrical wiring.

The project was delivered on time and exactly as we had discussed with them. Where we were most impressed though was in the level of customer service they provided. After removing the insulation in our basement, we found a few surprises that were covered up by the old insulation. Founders was extremely accommodating as we worked with other contractors to get those issues (unexpected and unrelated to insulation) squared away. I realize having the other contractors come in was probably pretty disruptive to their workflow, and Brian and his team said he understood our situation and did everything he could to help us out. I will certainly reach out to them again with our next insulation project.
