Great pastries and food The farm is beautiful and they even had little fires to make it bearable enough to sit outside. Blueberry cheesecake was 10/10 Hot chocolate is also really good I added a shot of espresso the homemade marshmallow is fluffy and not overly sweet!
Unbelievable food and pastries. It's a small coffee/cafe in the midst of a working farm. The line is long - for good reason! A few standout items that you MUST try during a visit: the biscuit (that the breakfast sandwiches come on), the peanut butter chocolate banana bread, and the hot chocolate (which comes with a melty marshmallow on top). I deducted a star because of the mud... I recognize it's a working farm, but we couldn't sit at the outdoor tables because there was an inch of wet mud surrounding them. It was very slippery aWould love to see them consider a patio or other solution in the future!
We made it a family mission to find the best hot coco in CT. We had some really good coco but I literally rolled my eyes after trying Julien's hot chocolate. It was a "this isn't even a competition anymore" eye roll. We could never beat the thick, decadent goodness that we found here. Now our search is forever for second place. Julien's is a hot spot of locals and visitors from afar joining the crowds in all weather to get their hands on not only their hot chocolate but their delicious sandwiches and pastries. In cold weather, customers are bundled up near fire pits while munching and sipping their goods. If you are searching for quintessential New England, you can stop searching because it is here.
A perfect summer Saturday in Connecticut calls for brunch at Julian's Farm! While the line was long, it moved quickly -- and it was absolutely worth the wait. The pastry selection was incredible, with everything looking as good as it tasted. We especially loved the blueberry mousse cake and the apple danish -- both fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. Don't skip their homemade lemonade -- crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a warm day. The cold brew coffee was a pleasant surprise too, made with beans from Those Guys Coffee Co. in New Hartford -- smooth and full of flavor. Julian's Farm is wonderfully family- and pet-friendly, with a laid-back, welcoming vibe. While prices are on the higher side, the quality and experience make it well worth it. Definitely check it out -- you won't be disappointed!
Julien's is a farm store, bakery, and cafe. It's located on an equestrian center; you'll see horses, a beautiful landscape, and a garden. Parking was plentiful when I went. They're known for their baked goods and breakfast food. The owner is French, so many of the baked goods are European inspired; everything is made from scratch and usually sells out quick. I had an egg, cheese, and avocado on a biscuit and wow, it was scrumptious. The biscuit was soft and flaky; the ingredients tasted fresh. I also had a pastry that had raspberries and a custard filling, also very delicious. My son loved the vegan brownie but I thought it was just ok, it had a chalky aftertaste. I also had the matcha green tea latte which I also thought was alright, not much matcha flavor. I recommend sticking with breakfast sandwiches and other pastry items. There were a couple of stools inside. There were plenty the of bistro tables outside. The garden is so lovely with the tulips popping up; it's a great spot to sit, eat, and relax. I do get the hype and they do offer good eats. I look forward to going back and trying more goodies.
Julien's is my new favorite. All I can think of is the Raspberry Danish.... It's to die for!! I love how calm and tucked away it is ... just the drive there is therapeutic. And gosh! a bakery and a horse farm (where kids can ride a pony, $10) ... bookmark this!! We got a couple of baked goods... the raspberry danish, Nutella donut and the blueberry coffee cake... all 3.. I loved. We even got to watch the chef in action working on a cake order. The highlight was the beautiful farm setting with outdoor seating, scenic views, and good food! A perfect morning getaway!

Yes, Julien's Farm Store was that impressive. I mean, really... how can you resist a business that describes itself as a "garden gourmet-style farm store and bakery producing artisanal, handmade breads, sandwiches, cakes, pastries, and other provisions, using traditional baking techniques. Everything is made from scratch on-site." We were there Saturday morning at a little after 8 AM and there was quite a line to get to the ordering counter. But that gave us time to look around and soak in the atmosphere. There is a very small counter with seats in the center of the building, a sales rack with coffees and granola on one wall, the kitchen and prep areas along one wall with a towering rack of baked goodies and big sacks of flour and sugar on the floor, and then you'll see the main attraction - an ordering counter with menu boards on the wall and showcases with freshly made muffins, cookies, croissants, sweet rolls, brownies, donuts, breads, Danishes, quiches, coffee cakes, and whoopie pies. The menu is modest, and covers breakfast sandwiches on a biscuit, a Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame (grilled ham and cheese with or without egg), and a side of garden potatoes. We had a tough time deciding what to order but finally went with a blueberry Danish ($9), malted chocolate blondie ($3), a classic cinnamon roll ($5), a slice of coconut banana bread ($7), and an Egg, Cheese, Parsley, Avocado breakfast biscuit ($13). The breakfast biscuit was for me and it was wonderful, a real nice mix of colors, textures, and tastes. It was a pretty big and very filling sandwich for $13. Last night we split the brownie for dessert, and it was so good. Moist, not too sweet, and full of chocolate flavor. And it was a generous square for just $3. Although inside seating is virtually nil, we did stroll the grounds and saw plenty of outdoor seating outdoors around gardens. What a gorgeous place it will be to enjoy a leisurely summer breakfast with sunshine and Mother Nature. Easy five stars without breaking a sweat. PRO TIP When ordering, select your pastries from the showcase, and then order your cooked foods at the register.
Today I decided to wake up early on a Saturday and venture out to Granby to try Julien Farms! To get there by 8 am ! (Well we got there a 10 after 8! ) I've heard so many great things about it I had to check it out myself. When we got there a young fellow was directing you where to park. Very sweet and nice! Smiling bright and early! It was busy but not bad where we were standing outside waiting. We waited about 10 minutes. If you go later the line forms out the Farm Store. There are breakfast sandwiches and pastries! I had a breakfast sandwich on a GF biscuit. I truly enjoyed my GF breakfast sandwich. I don't eat something like this often so it was soo good! My dad had 2 pastries to try . It's nice to sit outdoor on a beautiful sunny day surrounded by sunflowers having breakfast and coffee! I loved it. Very relaxing. I do think some of pastries are priced a bit high ! There are a few horses but you can't really get up close . The kids can ride pony's . There is a charge. Cute place where all is freshly made!
If you're anywhere near Julien's Farm Stand, do yourself a favor and stop immediately. Their sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich is, without question, one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Fresh, local ingredients make all the difference -- you can actually taste the quality in every bite. The sausage is perfectly seasoned, the egg cooked just right, and the cheese melts into everything in the most delicious way. It's hearty, flavorful, and somehow still feels homemade and comforting. Beyond the sandwich, the whole vibe at Julien's is incredible -- super welcoming, with friendly faces and the kind of relaxed, happy atmosphere you hope for at a farm stand. You can tell they care about what they do, and it shines through in every detail. I can't recommend it enough -- this place is a gem.
It's all been said before but give me a few sentences to say it again. The location is beautiful. The food is fantastic. The staff is cool and sweet. I knew I had to get one of those breakfast biscuit sandwiches in my life so when my wife and I had a Friday off, we made the trek out to Julien's to get some goodies. I'm an early girl so we got there by 9am and nearly all tables were full of happy people eating delicious food. Here's the deal, the inside of Julien's is wee but the offerings are not. Take a sec to figure out what you want because there's surely someone behind you wanting to order. I got an egg and cheese biscuit sandwich without the siracha mayo (which comes on the sandwiches). My wife got the same, but with bacon AND the mayo. Mine came with two eggs (yay) both of which were cooked perfectly with a lil yolk dripping out. DELICOUS. We also each got a donut (me-plain, she-Boston cream) and one croque monsieur to go. I don't really have a sweet tooth but everything sweet looked fantastic. I love that the donuts aren't huge, they're normal size and so fresh and yummy. We scarfed our donuts down a few hours after we got home and we LOVED heating up the croque monsieur the next day and topping it with some over-medium eggs at home. Go to Julien's. The hype is real. Say "hi" to my friend Julia at the register. Enjoy.
Julien's is a culinary jewel tucked away in the hills of Granby, CT, known for its delectable breakfast sandwiches and exquisite pastries. Julien Tessier, a French-born chef with professional pastry training and experience at high-end restaurants in London, moved to the States and eventually ended up in Grandy, and opening this must-visit farm store. On weekends, the line is out the door, but the staff works quickly, and the wait is well worth it. There are tables outside where you can take in the view of the surrounding hills, the horses, and Julien's beautiful garden. I drove over an hour to get here last Sunday, and I couldn't be happier that I did. We will be back here again, for sure.
Julien's Farm Store is a small farm that serves breakfast sandwiches, fresh baked goods, coffee, and other drinks. Julien's Farm has outdoor seating and you could find yourself in a line on weekends. The line is long but the wait is not that long. There is no seating inside as the farm store is very small. You place your order then someone will come out and call your name when your order is ready. The food is on the expensive side but it's all about the experience. I ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Cheeses and enjoyed the atmosphere as there are horses, the garden, and beautiful fall foliage. The biscuit was very soft and you could tell that it was homemade. The sandwich was a well rounded sandwich but it could have used some seasoning. The Eggs and Bacon were cooked exceptionally well but it was just missing some flavor. Also, I ordered a Danish with Raspberries and it was very delicious. I actually liked the pastry better than the sandwich, which says something because I'm really not a pastry or sweets fan. The Danish was just delectable, soft, flakes going everywhere, and the fruit on top was just so fresh. The customer service was great and the staff were very welcoming. I would definitely be back when it is summer to enjoy other items on the menu and to enjoy the view.
Quintessential New England atmosphere, okay food This has been a destination stop for us for a little while. We happen to be in this neck of the woods, so we made the trek to give this place a try. The approach to this location is very much what I believe to be the New England atmosphere. Lots of larger estates, farms with large plots, honor stands and lots of foliage along winding roads. The actual location is a continuation of this theme. It's next to a large equestrian center and is a small shack off to the side of it. Plenty of horses out and about, getting trotted along a basic track and being put in pens around the grounds. The actual shack is somewhat cluttered. There's a very active kitchen surrounding the ordering line. With an island with a couple seats in case things are slow. They are very much a breakfast place, as they were sold out of most of their stock by the time we got there (1 PM). We managed to get some macaroons, a donut, a quiche, and some potatoes, which was a lot of the last items they had. We sat outside and took some pics. Enjoyed watching the horses and dug in. The potatoes and quiche were good. The quiche had great flavor but wasn't warmed. We were too hungry to complain, but it did detract from the dish. Potatoes were warmed and seasoned. So those were okay at least. The girlfriend really liked the macaroons, and the donut was too bready with not enough filling. For a food location, there's signs of greatness but the limited menu and stumbles were noticeable. The atmosphere though is amazing though. If you catch this place in its prime, I can see it being a very pretty and nice place to trek to. Our stay was not as great this time around, so maybe not a great trek during the late fall

Hands down the best spot in Connecticut I've gone to this year! I've been concentrating on farm to table, scratch and/or organic local eateries since living primarily in the Berkshires the last few years. This spot has come highly recommended by many folks in the area, and I now see why. I headed out on the 40 minute trek south east on a Sunday morning and the parking situation almost scared me away. It will be packed, but don't worry, there will be a long line, however, it moves quickly and efficiently, and the staff is friendly and happy to help you when you reach the counter. The food was phenomenal! I personally tried way too much for one person. The cinnamon roll, a jelly doughnut, the short rib breakfast biscuit sandwich and the egg and cheese, avocado and parsley (also on a biscuit). In my defense, I had half of each sandwich and split them with another person. I was stuffed and had zero regrets. I can't wait to go back. You could not choose a more scenic surrounding. It is insanely gorgeous, and hard to comprehend that this place exists in Granby, CT when it belongs in the South of France (birds singing, bees buzzing about the flowers while the horses stroll the grounds) you're surrounded by top tier nature. My tip to you, would be to select your bakery and pastry items once you get inside and check out the posted menu, choose your (bread, donuts, etc. ) and then order a breakfast sandwich and drinks lastly, specifically coffee/lemonade etc. The berry lemonade is so good this time of year, then just go outside and enjoy your people and the scenery!! read more

4.5/5 Beautiful location complete with galloping horses and flowers in full bloom! My friend suggested a brunch meet up here and I must say, 100% worth the drive. The actual store is small but the line goes quick. There are "yesterday bakes" pastries in the fridge/counter if you're interested in goods from the day before at a discounted price (these still looked amazing). The pastries looked amazing in quality and tasted as such. Mixed berry and pear hand pie {4.5/5}: Air fried this when I got home and it was perfectly crisp and tangy/sweet with the fresh berries Blueberry cinnamon coffee cake {4.5/5}: warming this up is key to getting that deeper cinnamon flavor and melting the crumble just slightly. Wish it had more of that blueberry mixture Bacon, egg, and cheese on homemade biscuit {3.5/5}: Good savory option among the sweets, though did not stand out compared to the pastries Also, the flowers are absolutely gorgeous here, will pick some next season! read more

I only live about 15 min from here, but only just visited for the first time today. What a fantastic place! Coffee was really good (we had the cold brew and maple latte) and the baked goods were beyond delicious (croissant, banana bread with peanut butter frosting and blueberry coffee cake). Food is fresh and delicious! I had the quiche and an oatmeal chocolate caramel bar. Friend had a croissant abs other pastries. Service with a smile, always! Coffee fresh and super hot with lots of flavor choices. Ambience is incredible! The tiny kitchen is always pumping out awesome smelling bites! The outdoor seating area overlooks the horse farm and watching the horses walk around and also roll around on the ground in their happy pens was so sweet. The flower beds in bloom add so much of the happy farm feel! We will return for a third visit soon! read more
Gorgeous cafe on Barndoor Hills Road at the Granby Equestrian Center. Julian's farm store and cafe seems so remote that you might wonder how customers find it--but judging by the completely full lot and lines of customers waiting for Nutella donuts on a weekend morning, it seems safe to say that the word has gone out about this mere months-old cafe! We stopped by with four little girls on the first day Julien's was open for its new extended hours. Everything was sold out--except for their new item, Nutella donut ice cream sandwiches, housemade donuts filled with Granville Creamery ice cream. We also got cold-press iced coffees and strawberry lemonade, which was bursting with fresh strawberry purée. The kids loved walking around to see the horses. And the outdoor seating area is stunning. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a popular place for portrait photographers. The young staff were super friendly and you can watch Julien making biscuit dough behind the counter. read more

Brisket Biscuit Sunday!! The day I've been waiting for! I've had Juliens on my list for a while and finally made it to Granby at about 10am for breakfast. The line was already wrapped around the building but I wasn't even mad. You can smell the coffee brewing and the croissants cookin. There were two different parking lots and actually a couple gentlemen directing the parking to help people get situated. The farm had horses surrounding Julien's storefront with stables and horse rides going on in the back. A beautiful garden with seating and flowers was also a nice view while we waited. Inside was packed with people and pastries. I came for the biscuit with brisket egg sandwich but I had to try one of everything. It was all spectacular and worth the wait. The donut filled with Nutella was soft and sweet and one of my favorites. The fresh cream filled croissant with blueberries and lemon zest was also to die for. It was light and just perfect. I also enjoyed the french cruller with the blueberry glaze. It was airy and delicious. I also loved the calm atmosphere outside while savoring all the treats. Birds were flying all around and it was a nice relaxed Sunday for coffee and catch up with my friend. Thank you Julien's for putting your heart and soul into your food!! I'm coming back for that banana bread with pb and chocolate chips that sold out though!! Can't wait! read more

An Instagram-able experience for sure BUT people really over hype everything. We went here a second time and we were disappointed to say the least. Ordered two coffees and we were definitely served chai lattes instead. That was kind of weird. We finally tried a breakfast sandwich, good but why was it cold? Seemed strange, wasn't too busy and we watched the guys make it? Overall the bakery items are awesome and it really is a very cute experience but it's not something you keep going back to. Every bakery item just takes like another way to make cream, sugar and flour. In other words, most things taste the same and there's really no stand outs. Finally tried the cinnamon roll, it was dry and the icing wasn't even coated around the pasty. Like I said, it's an experience but frankly, these aren't life changing pastries. EDIT: the owner is a complete nutcase, calling me a liar and throwing personal insults at me based off a review. If you go on this platform and google reviews it's clear the owner has a reputation for doing this exact same thing to other customers who dare tell the truth about their experience. Wild. read more

Julien's deserves all the hype it's getting on social media. I went for the first time to try their famous hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows, and have been back multiple times! In their bakery case, their banana bread with peanut butter frosting, and their crispy cinnamon rolls are my favorite. If you're in the mood for something savory, I highly recommend the quiche. It is the most fluffy quiche I've ever tried. Beware, they have a very small indoor space, and even when you go early on the weekends, expect to wait outside. I was astonished to see how many people were waiting outside last time I was there even though the temperature was below 20 degrees. The team there works very hard to keep the line moving, and they are very kind and welcoming. On weekends you can get their breakfast sandwiches, and brisket biscuits on Sundays! If you're looking to get a sandwich, get there as early as you can because they do sell out. Julien's is well deserving of all the hype they're getting. Go check them out! read more
I learned about this place through sistersnacking & really wanted to try the biscuits. However, upon arriving, I could not resist trying the other bakeries. Finding a good bakery in CT is incredibly difficult considering the premium locations I've had in NYC. That being said, the biscuits were good. I took them to go to assemble a veggie brekkie sandwich at home. A bit to the heavy side though, so I would recommend splitting. Now coming to the baked goods/desserts, I was blown away by the French Crueler. That was probably the most impressive, all the other items were okay. I do wish the staff was a bit friendlier! Would come again, but only for the biscuit & crueler. read more

We were drawn to this place from the articles. It's a 50 minute drive for us. It did not disappoint. I had a panne suisse with matcha cream and blueberry preserve that was out of this world. Please keep the matcha panne suisse in the mix (or any panne suisse). We can't wait to drive out again when the flowers are coming out. The grounds are so beautiful. Wow. Just wow! After following Julien's on Instagram and pouring through the Yelp reviews, I decided I could no longer wait to go! First of all, the Internet doesn't lie. You need to get there early and be prepared to wait. There was something to the effect of the line moves, but I thought it moved rather slowly. We got there at 804 and the tiny farmhouse was packed. It gave us time to admire all the delicious baked goods and really think about all of our choices. Staff was helpful with recommending their favorites! Although truthfully, we will just return and try the other things we wanted to. My son tried their famous hot chocolate with homemade marshmallow on top. The marshmallow was absolutely delectable. The hot chocolate was just average as it wasn't really hot. He also got a Nutella stuffed donut. It was absolutely so soft and delicious stuffed with plenty of Nutella! I got the Croque madame and my son got the biscuit with gravy and potatoes. He always says I choose the best thing on the menu and he just might be right! The Croque madame was perfectly made. Crispy, delicious and the egg on top you could taste how fresh it was. The bechamel sauce on the sandwich was absolutely delicious! You can only get this dish, however, Saturday and Sunday. Definitely worth a visit to have just that. My son had the biscuit with gravy, which was so delicious and the potatoes at the suggestion of an employee. The potatoes were seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. In the summer, there appears to be much outdoor seating nestled on a farm. You can see horses eating, and frolicking. It's an idyllic setting. OH EMM GEEEE! Went here for the first time this morning (after drooling over their Instagram posts for a few months) and fell in love! What a hidden gem. A lovely drive in the scenic countryside. Great ambiance. Cramped, bustling place that makes you feel like you're waiting in their kitchen, among their sacks of flour, mixers and spices, for your food. A continuous line out the door of happy locals who know it's worth the wait. DELICIOUS food and hot chocolate. I can't wait to come back in every season because the setting is so charming (surrounded by wooded hills, gardens and horse paddocks) that the outdoor dining would just complete the experience. We were warned a few times: Come early because they run out of things! read more

Friendly staff, top quality food both sweet and savory. Gorgeous location, better when it isn't 5 degrees. Love the Nutella doughnut. Sunday brisket sandwich on a biscuit - very tender flavorful brisket. Biscuit stands up to the brisket and doesn't crumble in your hand. Hand pies full of stuffing with a thin delicate crust. read more
We went for a wander up to Julien's Farm Store and loved what we had! We ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a biscuit and sausage on a biscuit. The biscuits are fluffy and so flavorful! Made the drive worth it alone. The iced mint tea was also delicious! Such a cute spot with lovely staff. The outside has gardens and horses nearby. We only wish we went earlier because almost all the pastries were sold out, but that's a testament to how incredible this place must be! Next time we'll come earlier :) read more
Amongst the golden colored leaves of Barndoor Hills Road, you might think the road in the middle of the woods is there for admiring purposes, and it is. However, this is where you'll find THE CUTEST barn turned into a coffee shop! Julien's Farm Store is small, but depending on when you go you might find a super long line, or no line at all at other times. They have an ADORABLE seating area in their garden. Just a month ago, it was filled with beautiful, tall, yellow sunflowers. Sadly, their season is over and they aren't looking so sunny anymore. In the background you will see some beautiful horses, as well as in the barns next to Julien's. The inside is very small, there might be enough space to sit two comfortably, on an occasion when it's too cold to sit in the garden. I got a latte, my friend got a cappuccino, we also got a slice of a Chocolate Pecan Tart to share. This was a bit pricier than at other places. It was $22 for the three items. Everything was very tasty! The coffees were hot and hit the spot on this cool fall day. And that dessert? It was sticky, chocolatey, gooey, pecany and so tasty! Please stop by this hidden gem, and enjoy one of their tasty treats in their beautiful garden! read more
