You'll find it on that horrendous bottlenecked stretch of Route 4 in Farmington- just look for the bright red umbrellas. It seemed a little smaller than the other locations, but there is a staircase to a separate dining room on the second floor above the sales counter and showroom. You'll find all the high-quality products that HBC is famous for - breads, loaves, rolls, dozens of pastries and sweet treats, plus sandwiches. It's quite a nice menu and you can out together an excellent varied meal for dining in or take-out. We went the takeout route and picked up two gorgeous sandwiches -a prosciutto de parma (Thinly sliced Prosciutto Di Parma, provolone cheese, and arugula on a homemade croissant) and a Caprese (loaded with slabs of Fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato, and fresh basil on ciabatta drizzled with vinegar). Their sandwiches are excellent and a pretty decent value at under ten dollars. PRO TIP Don't even dare thinking about parking on busy Route 4, there is none, but go around the corner on High Street and you'll find plenty of parking in a lot behind the building. read more

Farmington location is such a cute spot for a Sunday morning with the girls. The spring drinks are so good, I got the Peep latte with mocha and loved it. The pretzels are huge (literally bigger than your head) and always fresh, it was my first time trying their sandwich which was also so delicious. Service was quick even with a line, and the space is adorable especially the loft. Such a perfect vibe for a cozy morning! read more

Stopped in for coffee with a few gal pals for the first time. Coffee was so good, I purchased a medium but I should've got a large. Will remember for next time! Purchased a sandwich as well had turkey, bacon and ranch dressing, this was great tasting as well. It was a pretty decent size for the price, I ate half and took the other half home. They had an abundance of seating and pastries, we sat on the top floor, and staff brought our sandwiches to us which was a pleasant surprise. I just got two sausage egg and cheeses on a roll at Hartford baking company it was over $20! Originally it was on a croissant and it was almost $30!! That includes no drink or anything else! By the way, for what they charge me, they didn't even give me a napkin, and they don't even cut the sandwich in half! The sandwich itself was fine if it was a normal cost it would've been OK to go, but definitely not worth that cost. read more

This Farmington location of The Hartford Baking Company is located in a little adorable, cottage like house. They have a shaded patio at the front, and a very cute seating area upstairs. Not to say, that I'm looking forward to the winter, but something about the idea of this cottage while it's snowing outside, with a cozy drink in hand, already has me in a mood. Here they use Giv coffee beans, simply the best, in all of Connecticut. I got the very viral Dubai Chocolate Latte. I also got a slice of their Kitchen Sink Blondie. This latte was very chocolatey with notes of pistachio. I really feel like it is more chocolatey than a mocha. The Kitchen Sink Blondie was hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. This was very sweet, it even had M&Ms in it, which is fun for the color effect, but less fun due to the additional sweetness. I would likely try something else the next time. The Hartford Baking Company makes tasty coffee, and a whole assortment of baked goods. read more

I've often driven past Hartford Baking Co and finally had the chance to stop in! It was a great place to catch up with my mother-in-law, with a nice seating area upstairs. They had a great variety of fall specials. I'm not usually a big coffee drinker, but the maple one was nice and sweet to cut the bitterness of the coffee, and I really enjoyed it! My husband loved his cappuccino and my mother-in-law was a fan of the pumpkin iced latte. The pastries were all fresh too. The staff handled the volume of customers well, and they were welcoming. I love this place!!! The staff and hospitality are always friendly (the owner means business so a little less). I visit both the West Hartford and Farmington location and really enjoy the coffee, chicken Caesar wrap, the EBAT, the tuna sandwich, sourdough bread, raspberry bar, and coffee cake. The prices are dear but so are the baked goods and coffee. The baristas can be overwhelmed so the service can be slow. But it's worth it. Upstairs there is seating. They don't have couches anymore and only a few with padded seats. I liked the couches as it supported conversation for people who wanted to socialize a bit. read more

First, the atmosphere is really charming and the food is good. The reason I'm giving two stars is the counter help isn't really professional or engaged. My friend and I ordered sandwiches and the gal bought the wrong sandwiches. I returned them to the counter and they bought the wrong sandwiches again but different ones. I returned it and the third time the gal brought me the wrong sandwich! It was a completely different sandwich every single time. The one I ordered is on their menu so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. After the third time, I just told her I would keep the sandwich. It was really kind of annoying as there was no apology and no offer of any compensation. The counter staff does not seem engaged with the customers and almost appear as though they're being inconvenienced. The food is good and atmosphere is great, but the help is severely lacking in skills. read more

Hartford Baking Co. is pulling out the freshest ingredients and always from scratch creations. We visited them at their Farmington location to grab a tea & coffee... but the bread looked so yummy as we stood waiting for our lattes to be made, we were tempted to buy a few things. We got a loaf of Italian bread and a giant buttery pretzel. They were able to slice the bread for us too. Huge plus, have you tried slicing a fresh loaf of bread from a bakery before? The pretzel was a great snack with our tea & coffee too. It was soft, chewy, salty and might haven been the best pretzel I've ever had. We had gotten a mocha latte and a London fog latte. That Italian bread turned into French toast later at home. The bread was so good by its self too, so light and fluffy. Hartford Baking Co. had an assortment of cookies, scones, dessert bars as well as breakfast sandwiches and lunch options. We now know that it's great place to pop in for meal, they have a dinning room up stairs and plenty of parking in the back of the building. We also learned they do catering too that might be useful information for the feature. All in all, we are glad we bought and tried their bread. Highly recommend the pretzel to eat on the way out too. read more

There are bakeries who can make great sourdough, but if you need a bakery that makes alllllll the bread, I can't think of a better option in the Hartford area than Hartford Baking Co. For St. Patrick's Day, I wanted a great fresh rye loaf for leftover corned beef Reubens. HBC is the only bakery I considered, and the bread was perfect. For the Super Bowl, I wanted a giant pretzel to corral my charc board. HBC! Big hit with the family. Rolls for Thanksgiving? HBC. Brioche for French Toast? HBC. Winners across the board. I've been to all of the HBC locations multiple times. After hearing about the parking available behind the Farmington HBC, I've been there multiple times this year. I've had great interactions with the management and non-management crew. They have seating above the main ordering area, which is not something I would have guessed. Good place to visit or work. For coffee, HBC uses and/or sells Giv Coffee and Stumptown. Two excellent choices. I always enjoy my black iced coffee there. The hot chocolate with giant marshmallows is terrific too. I've enjoyed my food orders too. I love their bacon, egg and cheese on brioche rolls. I've had perfectly executed Brioche French Toast on the weekend. The bagels and pastries are very good too. HBC has been, is and will be a big part of my Hartford County food experience. Five Stars read more

You know when a restaurant opens and you drive past and ever go but then you do and you're mad because you didn't do it earlier? Yeah. Me too. First this location has a wonderful refresh/update. Second, the staff. The staff. So happy to be there, friendly and welcoming. Third. The food. Sooooo good. I had the E- bat sandwich - egg, avocado, bacon, tomato and cheese on a brioche bun. I mean taste bud overload. Perfectly cooked great combo of hot and cold I didn't want it to end. I also go junk bars for dessert for my honey and son. They were insane. So decadent and delicious. First visit to this location but big fans of HBC. The parking situation isn't great but there was plenty of parking in back. We came here specifically for Hot Chocolate Month which is every February and enjoyed some breakfast sandwiches as well. Our favorite was the HBC Eggwich with egg, breakfast potatoes, tomato jam and cheddar on a brioche bun. The brioche absolutely makes this sandwich! And flavor was on par with the other locations. This location is a bit smaller than Glastonbury & WeHa but still a nice seating area upstairs. The outside looks like it would be lovely on a nice day as well! read more

I'm a fan, was staying around here for the weekend and was happy to have this place nearby. The egg sandwich hit the spot, super fresh and loved the fluffy bun. Also the coffee was a really solid cup, would happily have a second. The upstairs has a cute little spot for lounging and reading, which was a lovely reprieve for an hour or two. I recently came here a couple times. I'm a coffee lover, so I definitely recommend their coffee. Their food is really good too. This is in a good location in W. Hartford Center. The only trouble is finding parking at times. They have a second floor where you can bring your laptop or books, and sit and work while you're enjoying their drinks and food The mornings can be busy if you're looking for a more quiet space, this might not be that but if you're looking for a place to work with a little bit of background noise to try it here read more

After dinner we were in the area looking for a little treat. We saw Harford Baking company was open and offered an array of pasteries and coffee. As soon as we walked in, I immediately planted my eyes on "The Junk bar". It had oreos, coconut, pretzel pieces and a bunch of other "junk" piled on it. My mouth was drooling. I also ordered a cappuccino. The cup was really small and the coffee was strong. They did have a bunch if freshly baked bread as well as discounted bagels and such from the day before. Coffee grinds, granola and Hartford baking Co merch was also available for purchase. We sat downstairs but there was also an upstairs room for dine in. The woman at the counter was very hospitable. She greeted us while entering, interacted and offered us some of her favorite choices (one was the cranberry chocolate chip muffin, which i thought was interesting) and also thanked us when we left which I liked. I really want to give this location a 3.5 but for now, we can leave it at a 3 piece. So I can agree that parking is not the BEST situation but I have seen worse over the years. At the end of the day, if you want something; you will do what is necessary (within reason) to acquire it and I wanted to review the food here at Hartford Baking (not to be confused with Hartford Baking Co) I too read previous reviews about this location having bad customer service and management but I did not encounter anything of that nature. As I walked in, there was a small line and those customers were being assisted; shortly after I was asked to hold for a moment when I entered the building. When it was my turn, I explained that I was a first time customer and the Woman behind the counter began to give me some options, after asking what I liked. I went with both the HBC Egg sandwich and the Brioche Cinnamon Bun. Now the cinnamon bun, though tasty; lacked a bit of freshness for me. I am accustomed to a softer roll but the sweetness and strong cinnamon bite definitely helped this one along the way. I would had been happy if it was tossed in a small oven for some love but it was decent enough for a 4 out of 5. Their Egg Sandwich was also decent. Again, a fresh brioche bun that was toasted along with cheddar cheese, potatoes and eggs. This combination missed the mark for me. I should had asked for American Cheese and Bacon but I wanted to review the sandwich, as it came (tomato jam disregarded) The sandwich was good enough for a 3 out of 5. So the food options within this shop, are that of most pastry shops and to me, I received some amazing customer service! I can only hope this continues for future customers of the establishment. read more

Service was lacking. Walked in the bakery and the two employees were quite aloof and not very friendly. They threw our pricey baked good in the bag with out separating or putting some kind of protection between the two. When we got back to our hotel the baked goods had seeped through the bag. I'm really happy HBC opened a location in Farmington. This is the PERFECT spot if I'm running late and haven't had a chance to eat yet. Their menu offers a great variety of sandwiches and wraps, and all of their ingredients taste very fresh. Some of my favorites is the Curried Chicken Salad or the Breakfast Burrito. I have a wheat allergy, so I'm grateful that they offer a good, tasteful gluten free wrap. Their lattes are delicious, the Carmel syrup that they use is thick and flavorful, without being overpowering and too sweet. Lastly, their staff is always super friendly, patient, and helpful with suggestions. I do wish their prices were a little lower, but it feels worth it given the freshness of the ingredients. What a cute place! There was a selection of deliciousness bakery items and I had to try the sprinkle cookie- and it was delicious! I also had a salted caramel iced latte with oatmilk that hit the spot. My fiancé enjoyed his Turkey Bacon Cheddar sandwich so much I had to quickly snap a picture before it was gone. I stopped in a few weeks ago for a bowl of soup. I agree with the previous review. The staff doesn't seem like they want to be there which is unfortunate for everyone. I ordered the tomato basil soup and it came up from the kitchen quickly. When I got home I opened it only to find a less than half full container. I sent them a DM with the pic below and asked if what I received was considered a "bowl". I got a reply telling me that the container should have been full and asking me my email address. I responded with my email address and I asked why they wanted it. I was told a manager would be in touch, but I was not contacted by a manager. Hopefully they get their staffing and kitchen issues sorted. I really want to like this place and my small serving of soup was good! read more

Needed a late morning breakfast on the go and I was in town for an appointment. Ordered it online and picked it up a few minutes later. Walked in and gave them my order number and it was waiting for me. The bacon, egg and cheese sandwich was eggscelent! Seriously, there must have been more than one egg(done to perfection) and the bacon was thick but crispy and had some wonderful flavor to it! The cheddar cheese kept it all together inside that super-fresh roll. I would go back there just for one of those sandwiches! I will never support this business in any location. The senior management I have met in the past year are rude and generally mean people. They do not treat other business employees with respect or dignity. You would think coming from the food service industry they would know better than to yell and curse at another establishments employees.
