I came here alone for breakfast the day after Christmas. It has a very comfortable feel with plenty of seating and very clean. The service was excellent. My waitress (the woman wearing a knee brace) kept my coffee filled and did a phenomenal job checking in but not too much. The food was really good and a good portion. I got the Shipwreck Scramble with an added egg and a coffee and it was under $20. Highly recommend the breakfast here! read more

Great place! My aunt and uncle like this place so they usually like to go here when we are in town. Service is good and prices are reasonable. I ordered the french toast with bacon, great and my dad got the ham and cheese omelet which I tried and it was really good. I stopped there for dinner while n business trip. They offer breakfast all day. I should have tried that. However I asked server for recommendations. She recommended meatloaf dinner. I took her up on it. Disappointing. Meatloaf was dry and flavorless. Not fresh at all. Mashed potatoes, vegetables and soup accompany meatloaf. Soup, chicken wild rice was good. My favorite breakfast spot in Superior. Usually busy on weekends. Good, hearty meals. Flavored well and tastes like a home cooked meal. My go to is the Shipwreck Skillet. This has all meats, lots of veggies smothered in creamy dreamy hollandaise. You choose a side of bread or pancakes and you want the pancake. They are fluffy and taste of vanilla. Like dessert for breakfast. They have good lunch and dinner food. They always have a board with specials. They have bakery items like big homemade cookies for $1. I love finding restaurants like Julie's. Family owned, good home cooked meals and friendly, warm and efficient service. And such a wonderful city Superior WI is. Big enough to have everything you need but small enough to give you that warm and cozy feeling. Located right on the tip of one of the 5 Great Lakes,,,, you guessed it, Lake Superior! Lol. Julie's was the first stop of a 2 day drive on the way back from vacationing in Northern Minnesota heading back to Atlanta Georgia! Upon entering I could tell this was going to be a 5 star experience. The decor with all the light houses and boats to the aroma of heavenly brewed fresh coffee. I couldn't wait to get to my table! Greeted by a pleasant server (smiling) and asking how your morning is going, is so refreshing. It's amazing how something so small and simple can have such a big and lasting impact on your dining experience. The menu was chalked full of delicious looking dishes but having to sit in the car for hours ahead of me, I figured I better play it a little safe! Lol The thing about family owned diners is they know the difference between over easy and over medium. My eggs were perfectly done, the toast was actually toast and not warm bread! Lol. I stopped at Julie's during a 3-day motorcycle adventure that led me into Superior where I spent one night. I don't share the same opinion as another who said Superior is a "wonderful city", but I do agree that Julie's serves great food with great servers. I had the chicken fried steak dinner, and it was served hot and very tasty. My server, Becky, was an absolute superstar, always smiling and friendly as she waited numerous tables. I sensed there may be staffing issues, but nowadays where aren't there staffing issues. Plus, those staffing issues didn't seem to phase Becky one bit. If I ever find myself back in Superior Wisconsin, I won't spend the night, but I would eat at Julie's. read more

Brother and gf have raved about this place, so finally got to try it out during the 4th of July weekend (happy B-Day America!) It was a fitting choice during the Fourth of July weekend, as it is a nice family restaurant with a very homey, welcoming feel, (which to many, will appeal). Really cool, very clean inside complete with pine planked ceiling and many pictures of water vessels on the walls (north shore decor galore-but tastefully done, and not kitsch). Nice size menu with all day breakfast, and really good prices, especially considering portion sizes, (which were ample). I ordered the skillet with many kinds of meat, and even doubled down with the nutritional stupidity-ordering the pancakes for one of the two side options..a rare selection for this usually clean eater. I only downed one of the two for reasons of preventitive energy crash, (someone has to make the effort to balance out the obesity crisis in this nation) but it was delicious. Everything was really good, really nice, nothing exceptional, but I will definitely return to try some other things. We stopped by Julie's on our trip up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It was the 2nd-to-last "real" meal that we would have before entering the wilderness. The place was busy, but they easily handled our large party. The orders were all correct, the staff was friendly, and their blueberry pie was the bomb. This place is ran terribly. I don't know how they're still open. I've only gone twice in the 8 years I've lived here, you can tell the food is cheap and not prepared well. The whole restaurant stinks. You can tell they don't put much effort into keeping the kitchen clean. Both servers I've had were friendly, but you could tell they didn't enjoy their job. You can even hear the staff talking badly about the environment and other staff/managers if you're close enough to the bar and serving window. Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, we were able to sit at the counter very quickly and given menus and water right away. It took a long time after that for someone to take our order and give us coffee. They were very busy but it took a very long time to get our food. The food it's self was very good and the pancakes were more sweet than I like. The eggs were amazing with extreme gold/orange yolks. If you go make sure you have time when they are busy. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way back from vacation. This is your basic diner, that serves basic food. No muss, no fuss, and that is not a bad thing. I had the chicken fried steak, and it was crisp and golden! Plus there were homemade hash browns that were shredded and cooked perfectly! Honestly, this place has great diner food. The only thing that brought it down to four was the service. While the ladies were nice, they seem to be shorthanded, or just lost, as our basic breakfast food took over 35 minutes to come. Our family prefers to eat local as much as possible when we travel. We stumbled on Julie's by pure chance over the 4th of July weekend. The staff had personality and was very friendly. Our order was correct and the food was delicious. When in Wisconsin, one must eat cheese, so we shared an order of mozzarella sticks and boy did they string! Lol! It was awesome! My husband said the chicken fried steak was the best he's had. My son was in love with The Hangover (burger with avocado and a fried egg). The pancakes were super yum! And the kielbasa in the skillet really brought it up a notch. We definitely recommend stopping in! read more

I'll start by saying the food here is fantastic and I wish that made up for everything else that is wrong. We came here on Father's Day and it was busy so we figured the wait staff was just overwhelmed and gave them the benefit of the doubt on why they were rude. Fast forward to today we decided to come again for breakfast. Again extremely rude wait staff. I have never seen so many people roll their eyes in one place or give half assed answers. They also do not respond well to children at all. There is also no changing table in the bathroom. How can you call yourself a family restaurant with no changing table in the bathroom and lack of understanding for children? If you don't mind rude waitstaff and don't have children this is absolutely the place for you. read more

Ok, this is not a 5 star restaurant, but in the family diner category I give 5 stars. Breakfast was reasonably priced, great tasting, abundant portions, even included 2 slices of ham, never had that before, usually only one. Service was friendly and as quick as can be expected for the breakfast ordeed. Place was clean, bright, decorated in Northwoods style with shipping, lighthouse, and nautical theme. The only negative to me is they serve the fine shredded hash browns. I prefer the coarse shred. Tastes the same, but i prefer the coarse shed. Others probably like fine shred, so all is good. Definitely worth detour off Hwy 53 or 2 a few blocks to avoid the over-priced chain restaurants. Also, I came in dehydrated. They kept the ice water, coffee, and OJ full! Update 7-27-2016: Hash Browns were great this year. The Shipwreck Skillet is awesome. This place is an iconic Superior breakfast experience. read more

Simple basic diner fare. With that in mind I give them 4 stars The prices are great and the servings are huge. We always have leftovers. The burgers are good. The breakfast is always awesome.
