do not go here. i thought they were honest because they gave me a cheaper option on a previous vehicle, now i know they were just gauging if i could afford them cheating me or not. they had my f350 for 2 months, while i worked my ass off to try to afford an overpriced head gasket repair that another fairly priced shop found to be a broken hose and a fuel injector leak ($200) these guys kept me waiting two weeks for a diagnostic i literally had to leave the state because i couldn't work without my vehicle for two months, countless expenses that could have been spared if they had actually done the pressure test on my head. liars. cheats. regret sending so many friends to them, i'm a longtime local and these people suck. read more

$600 for a repair that wasn't needed! $150 for 10 minute visual inspection (which I had performed on my own at home), $150 for a 20 minute part replacement, and $300 in a part that wasn't needed. $600 bucks for a repair that didn't work and the next guy fixed it with a toothbrush for free. I don't know what happened to Julio. He used to provide a great service but ever since he moved in to his new location everything has gone downhill. Won't be going back here again. read more

I'm very happy with Julio's Automotive Repair. He is very honest and cost effective. As most veterans money is tight. I took my wife's Jeep Wrangler in with the engine light on. The inspection showed two codes. I thought I'd be there all day till my wife got off work on base to come and pick me up. They offered to take me home till they found out the problems. They called me about what was wrong and the cost. I gave them the go ahead to fix it. They called me back that it was ready and they came to pick me up and take me back to the shop to pay and take her Jeep home. I highly recomend Julio's Automotive Repair. I took my car to Julio's a couple years ago because I was hearing a noise coming from the front of my car when I was turning my steering wheel and he replaced the bearing for me. Super easy, no upsell, honest. Now I come to this shop for all of my maintenance needs because I really trust them. I think their pricing is extremely fair and I would much rather support a small business than deal with the corporate robots at the big name brands. We cannot say enough about Julio and his crew. We went out of town for the weekend and the morning we started to head back the front end of our car was making an alarming noise. We called a tow truck and were recommended to try Julio's Auto Repair. Julio was booked-out for weeks, but when he learned we were out-of-towners on our way home, he really went out of his way to accommodate us and get us back on the road. Our tow driver, who was a great guy too, dropped us and our vehicle to Julio's shop where he did the diagnosis right away, learned our front bearings failed, then made the repair on the spot. He even brought out our busted bearing to show us and before we knew it, we were back on the road by early afternoon. Our car was running great and we made it back home safe and sound. Julio's Auto Repair are good people. The price was fair, especially as we were far away from a big city and he pushed us to the front of the line to help us get back home right away safely. He defiantly knows what he's doing and is trustworthy. We really feel lucky that we landed in his shop. It made a great experience out of what could have been a disaster. read more

The water pump blew in my SUV on my way to an important meeting in 29 Palms. I was traveling from the Victorville area, the pump blew-anti-freeze everywhere, and I found myself stranded on Old Woman Springs Rd. north of Johnson Valley. As I awaited AAA to come to my rescue, (if you don't have a AAA membership living in this region, you're nuts!) I started calling repair shops. I called every shop I could find online from Yucca Valley to 29 Palms and everywhere in between, and none could help me. They all had waiting lists of up to two weeks. As a small business owner, I don't have two weeks to leave a vehicle waiting for repairs. By the time the tow truck driver arrived, I still hadn't found help. As he put my Tahoe on the back of his truck-all I could think was "I have nowhere to go!" The driver gave a couple of different search terms to use, and Julio's garage popped up. I read and repeated the name, and the tow truck driver said call them! I was fully expecting to end up shot down in flames for at least the l10th time (literally) but the guy on the phone said bring it in and we'll do our best! My gut told me they would help...and when I arrived, I felt that I was in good hands. I left the truck with them-and asked if Uber or Lyft or a car rental place was close by. When they found out I was heading clear out to the Marine Base, they suggested I go next door and rent a U-Haul because it would be a lot cheaper. Next thing I knew, I was behind the wheel of a small moving van at $29.99 a day plus mileage, and while I was 2 hours late to my meeting, I MADE IT. About 4PM my phone rang, it was the guys at Julio's, and they said my truck was repaired and ready to go. I was shocked! I finished up my meeting at the base, jumped in the Uhaul, and headed back toward Yucca Valley. Sure enough, there sat my truck as I passed by to turn in the Uhaul. She indeed needed anew heater hose and a new water pump. The mechanic noticed that one of my tail lights was out and replaced the bulb for me. I could not be happier or more grateful for the wonderful service I received-and I was able to drive my truck home that same evening. This has got to be the longest review I have ever written in my life, but good local businesses deserve to be recognized and thanked publicly for bending over backwards to help me when I truly needed it. The front desk man, Mike, was extremely unprofessional. I called multiple times and he didn't seem to know what was going on. I gave them my transmission to do a rebuild, bought them a rebuild kit and had everything taken apart for them already. The job should've maybe taken 2 weeks, but every time I called they told me it wouldn't be ready till next week, this went on for almost 2 months. They were also extremely rude to me, and told me that I can pick up my transmission up any time. But when I called to tell them I was picking it up, they threw my transmission outside in their parking lot. Julio himself seems like a good guy, I'm just sorry he hired a lousy front desk man that doesn't know how to communicate. read more

I just moved to town and have been looking for a mechanic to go to regularly. Julio earned my business today when I brought my 2005 prius over with a check engine light problem. I had went to Ultimate Motors first who gave me an appt next Thurs and charges $190 to diagnose the issue. I then called Stellar Auto and was told it would be $55 to diagnose the problem, then I was also given a Thurs appt. I can't wait till Thurs as i am moving out of my apartment and need a car. A friend recommended Julio's to me, thankfully. I called and he listened to my situation sincerely, then told me to come on by right now, even though he was busy. When I got there he read the code, checked to make sure everything was good, cleared the code, gave me some advice, and did not charge me a penny. I was once told that you can always trust a mechanic that puts his own name on the shop title, and that turned out to be very true. Julio and his crew did quality work on my car. I first went to Stellar Auto performance 20 minutes down the road, and they tried to sell me a brand new engine and replace mine for 9,000 and tell me that my engine was broken. I don't think Julio told me but I'm almost positive that they washed my car on top of all of the maintenance it needed. Maybe its because Yucca Valley is a small town, but its rare to run in to people that are genuinely kind and honest. I drove up to Julios garage with a brake problem. Julio was the 3rd mechanic i went to and the only mechanic that wanted to do my job. He replaced the master cilnder in my 2012 chevy equinox and just a few hours. Had an issue with our car suddenly around 2-3pm. Called a couple places to get estimates and see if we can get it done within 24 hrs. Called them to see if they can take us in & explained our situation. They gave us the best deal and felt the most confident in assessing the car over the phone. They put us on hold and then told us to come on in. They checked it out and said we needed a part and to come back the next day. Ordered the part and it was in as promised. The last visit I made the owners were not on the property, just employees. I had made an appointment to get my oil changed, and they got it done very quickly. I was very pleased with their timeliness. Unfortunately I wound up with 2 problems. Several weeks prior to the visit, I had bumped my driver's side mirror and knocked it loose. I had wrapped tape around the damaged spot, and it was holding just fine. One of the employees walked into the mirror and did a lot more damage to it. Instead of trying to fix the problem, he looked around to see it anyone may have noticed and just walked away. Then when I got home, I went to check a fuse and discovered that they had removed the metal bar that holds the hood up. So not only did they do some accidental damage, but they stole a part.
