Place was busy with takeout but not too many patrons dining in. We perused the menu additions while sipping some saké (BYOB). The girls had rolls and I had sashimi dinner. This place doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside is nicely decorated, and they have a fish tank near the waiting area. My review is based on takeout from here a few times. I've eaten Chicken with String beans, it came with Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. The chicken was tender and the string beans were delicious. My Egg Roll was crispy, and the Fried Rice was the same. I also enjoyed their Pork Steamed Dumplings. They were a perfect accompaniment to my dish. Another dish I tried was their General Tso's Chicken. It was juicy on the inside and the outside had a nice crispy saucy texture. The flavors were very good. The staff is always very nice and friendly. We frequent this place quite often. I come here for the sushi and am never dissapointed. The fish is always fresh and have tried multiple rolls of sushi and nigiri. My colegues get either the sushi or various other dishes and have always been happy with their dishes. The service is always friendly and the decor is OK, but seems to be borrowed from another restuarant, as it dosnt seem to fit the restaurnt type. One thing I did wish that they had, was coffee. We ordered a takeout mix of Chinese food and sushi. The staff was very polite, no issues with ordering or pickup. Got home with two bags of food: - egg rolls - not bad not noteworthy - pork fried rice - made with an egg unlike some other local places, very tasty - Lo Mein noodles - with pork tasty, big pieces of pork - Shrimp & Lobster sauce, while there were plenty of shrimp, the sauce was the consistency of water (way too runny for my liking) Sushi - I had salmon and red clam pieces along with a rainbow roll and a Hana roll (Yellowtail, salmon, white tuna with scallion, tobiko inside, topped with pepper, tuna, and wasabi mayo sauce).....the fish all tasted fresh, it was cut/prepared nicely. Ordered the Kung-Pao chicken (which is usually the safe bet for me). This has been our go to Chinese place for a few months now, so I was shocked to find I hadn't reviewed it yet! We always get the sesame sesame, fried rice with pork and one with chicken, the beef and broccoli, and some veggie or shrimp lo mein. Service is good, food is always hot and most importantly the sesame chicken is always crunchy. The send a bag of sauces, teas and fortune cookies in each order, which is fun. A little bummed there's an up charge for chicken fried rice, but it's worth it. And wish they would give more fortune cookies to be comparable to the amount of food ordered. But again, we like the food enough it doesn't stop us from ordering again! read more

We ordered 4 hot teas. The waiter brought 4 cups of hot water. When we told him that was not tea, he did not even apologize. Instead he brought a teapot to our table and a small plastic bucket. He then, at our table, emptied the water from the cups into the bucket, and then poured the tea into the cups. Why not do it in the kitchen and not in front of the customer??? Those little things make us not come back to places as these. If one wanna be in a restaurant business, one should apply basic proper etiquette. read more

I tried this places out. It smells quiet fishy in there, like they have been Frying fish all day kind of smell. The lady who took my order is very nice. I order the tuna roll which tasted alright. Every extra little thing you order has a surcharge. Spicy mayo $1, avacado $1, crunchy $1 ect.... I just find it a bit too much for such a small thing to charge an extra $1. read more

Ordered from this place today. Not at pleased. Chicken rice tasted and looked like dirty dish water, and I ordered Chicken noodle soup,, in the first place.. Chicken with broccoli was very mushy. Roasted pork with fried rice tasted old. Didn't even think to taste the Mongolian beef and steamed dumplings. What a disappointment!! Had to call 3 times and finally got a full refund. They came to take the food back, hopefully not to re-serve it to another patron. Will not be visiting that restaurant ever again! For the price you pay for take out it should be at least edible!! My husband and I recently moved to Hillsborough and looking for good Chinese-definitely not this place. $12.50 for chicken and broccoli plate of crap. Too much oil and chicken had weird taste. I think that ratings for restaurants are heavily subjective; I rarely say that I disagree with another person's opinion. However, Jumbo Palace is the exception, that I take issue with every positive thing said about it. From the pricing, to the soggy, oily dishes, to the total trashiness of the environment, there is no situation in which I would find myself back at Jumbo Palace. The all-you-can-eat sushi, priced at $25, is not only more expensive than say Sushi Palace or Masa Sushi, you are also limited in the number of "special" rolls- and they are not even special. If Jumbo Palace's sushi chef were a classical composer, their magnum opus would be Theme and Variations on California Roll Their actual Chinese food does not approach being legitimately "Chinese", and is only dubiously "food". While I am a strong supporter of Woks in malls to satisfy the itch for bad Chinese food, there is a threshold at which the food becomes so poor that the only reason I could see anyone buying from jumbo palace is to serve to their rival sport's team the day before the championship game In sum: save yourself some money, go elsewhere read more

I like this place because it is a good value, not because its the greatest food I've ever had. On a recent dinner the maki combo ($12) was comprised of 6 satisfactory pieces each of tuna roll, salmon roll, and California roll. The tuna and salmon chunks were pretty big compared to other sushi bars'. The combo comes with soup or salad, and the miso was just right, but not quite hot enough. The Singapore noodle was $10; it was heavily curried and had the usual pork and shrimp and egg, although it was a little more oily than is necessary. Seaweed salad was good. Our dinner bill for two, including tip, was $33. The all you can eat sushi is now $25. If I was in the mood, I would definitely head here for it--I think you could probably do much worse. There are a few rules for the all you can eat sushi deal (e.g., no sharing), but if they didn't have the rules, they'd have to charge more. read more

Terrible Chinese food! We had dishes that you can't go wrong with but everything was terrible. Sesame chicken was the only dish that was ok. Chicken yaki udon had no flavor and udon was soggy. I've eaten here a couple of times, so far only for the sushi. Its nothing extraordinary, but everything is at least decent. The prices are fair, which is always a plus and as far as I know... its the only DECENT all-you-can eat, made to order sushi restaurant in central jersey (STAY AWAY from Sushi Palace in Kingston). The all you can eat sushi is priced at $21.95 and you get one special roll and unlimited hand rolls or regular rolls. There are a lot of rules involved with this all you can eat sushi... you cannot take any sushi that you don't finish home, and you pay for the extra pieces that you don't eat. A little weird if you ask me. Jumbo Palace serves Chinese, Thai and Japanese food. Usually sushi from these places suck, but it honestly wasn't all that bad. But if you want sushi in Hillsborough try the new place, Tomiko, in the strip mall on the other side of 7-11... the fish is better. I plan on going back to try the thai food eventually so I can review that! read more

I'm so sorry to have to give a one star review to an otherwise fine restaurant but in a very small yellowtail and scallion roll slice I bit into a very large, razor sharp row of bones. Essentially a spine with two rows bones about the size of 2/3 my pinky. How could something so large and sharp go undetected in my roll, you ask? I have no idea and am asking the same thing. Accidents happen, of course, but in sushi, knife work is the preparation. It's inexcusable. It was razor sharp and splintered. I'm truly lucky I didn't get hurt worse. Never again. read more

Jumbo Palace has been my go-to restaurant in town for almost 10 years. The first Asian Fusion and all-you-can eat sushi restaurant around, it has remained my choice for reliably good Chinese food and excellent sushi. The service is friendly and attentive (especially the owners and the sushi chef), and the atmosphere is nicely designed and clean. Having tried most of the menu, I thought I'd share some of my favorites: -The sushi is by far my favorite thing about Jumbo. The fish is very fresh and has a wonderful texture, and they have a good variety of special rolls too. The price of the all-you-can-eat is a little higher than Sushi Palace, but if you care about the quality of your fish as much as the quantity, this is the place to go. -The Singapore Mei Fun is excellent for noodle lovers like me who also like a little heat. It has a great balance of flavor along with a nice mix of vegetables, meat, and shrimp. They also make normal Mei Fun for those who don't like it spicy (it's not listed on the menu but you can order it). And any noodle lovers also have to try the Thai Basil Chow Fun! The flavor and aroma of the basil is awesome and the wide rice noodles remind me of my favorite day-time snack in Beijing. -Finally the Home Style Bean Curd is one of my go-to dishes. The bean curd is stir-fried with veggies in a light sauce and has a browned, almost crispy exterior that I promise will change your mind about tofu. All-in-all a great place to get tasty Chinese, Thai, and sushi with a nice atmosphere and friendly people. read more

This is a "mixed Asian" restaurant in the sense that it serves "mainstream" Chinese fare along with Thai dishes and sushi bar items. The menu is varied enough and flavorful, and by default dishes are served without too much spice. For example, we ordered the Singapore noodles ("mei fun") and it had plenty of that traditional curry flavor without being excessively "hot" (which made it e.g. fine for our 1st grader). We tried a few "signature rolls" (dragon roll, blackened tuna roll, and star roll): All were excellent. Out children also tried were some dumplings (I don't recall which kind) and beef with mixed vegetables, and they approved. The place stands out among it peers by its cleanliness and tasteful decor (not matched by the outside looks of the strip mall it's part of, unfortunately). The only other Asian food place that matches that in the area is P.F. Chang's in Princeton, but that's a much pricier option (and much farther for us). Highly recommended for a casual meal out with the family. read more

Not impressed. Had eaten there once or twice and remember being underwhelmed. With some of the better Chinese restaurants in town closed due to quarantine, we ordered from here the other night. Pricier than their competitors (not sure if they jacked up the prices because they knew they were one of few open options or not). Food was mediocre at best and serving sizes were small. Containers about 75% full. My son couldn't eat his pork fried rice....said it was just "nasty". Chicken with garlic sauce was 80% vegetables. Topped off with 1 fortune cookie for 3 dinners. We are new to the area & first ordered Chinese takeout from here and we were pleasantly surprised. I go with my usuals- lo mein, fried rice, dumplings, general tso's chicken, boneless spare ribs - all tasty. The food was good and the delivery was quick. Best chinese I've had in the area so far. We also decided at another time to go sit at the restaurant and try the sushi. The restaurant is small, but clean and comfortable. The sushi was good. However, we got the "all you can eat" and I was a bit disappointed - it was overpriced, they limit the amount of special rolls you can have and charge you a lot for whatever you don't finish. I've been to many all you can eat sushi places that have better sushi, are less money, and have way more sushi on the menu. We will continue to order chinese from here but will probably get all-you-can-eat elsewhere. read more
