Jumi has been open for a long time, but I don't have a chance to try until today. They have the summer special $68 for lunch and $88 for dinner. It includes 10 sushi, hosomaki and negi-toro handroll. Over quality is acceptable and price is definitely great. It's definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

Had a wonderful and affordable omakase experience here! We tried their Summer Omakase special for $88, and it was well worth the value. The nigiri was fresh and tasty! Service was attentive and polite, and the ambiance feels cool & cozy at the same time.

I came here today for an anniversary dinner, and it was one of the most memorable experiences ever. Of course, for an omakase, it is on the more expensive side. However, for the quality of food, the ambiance, and the service of a skillful chef, it makes the price point worth every penny! Every dish was served with great care, and having the chef explain to each dish makes it an engaging experience. My favorite has to be the bluefin tuna. As someone who doesn't always go for the tuna, this fish cut has made me gain a whole new appreciation for tuna! I highly recommend this place for any special events. The space is small, and you need to make reservations ahead of time, but this is something everyone should experience at least once.

Came To try their omakase dinner I really like the ambience of the is restaurant. It's a small intimate restaurant with sitting at a bar and it looks like they limit seating for a max of 8-10 for dinner and it's reservation only. The omakase had a nice mix of sashimi, cooked dishes, special broth, nigiri. We added the bluefin tuna flight. Loved the Match fizz cocktail. They also had another menu for a la carte items which they only show you after you order the omakase. The set dinner is enough for one person so we didn't need to order additional. Dessert was nice and refreshing. Would come back again for seasonal omakase and try their take out as well.

We came here for my hubby's birthday. This is a restaurant for adults only (kids are welcomed for private parties). This restaurant is similar to omakase (they make the food directly in front of you), the difference is they serve you the food all at the same time. We also added the extra set (3 pieces of Blue Fin Tuna). The service was very good. They were friendly and attentive. The waiting area is in the condo lobby. You can park in the condo parking garage with the letter "V". Overall, the food is decent. It's a nice experience and we like the vibe (music is playing in the background all night).

Came here for a friend's bday celebration. Right off the bat, I really loved the atmosphere. Small intimate trendy place - what a hidden surprise to find this place in a residential condo neighborhood; it adds more to the secretiveness/romanticness of the place. Felt like i was in some high end resto in uptown new york even though I've never been haha. This resto is by reservation only and intimate group-oriented - the square room has high L-shape bar table that pretty much fit our party of 10 and we face the sushi chefs and host as they prepare our courses right in front of us. I loved this arrangement and seeing all the chefs prepare the food and the accessibility to ask them questions. The service is impeccable - very attentive, intimate, friendly, gentle. They explained all of our dishes as they served to us and u can tell they take great pride in their food and presentation. The food presentation is so beautiful, and an experience in itself. Having so many exquisite dishes served in one platter is exciting and stimulates ur culinary senses. We had the winter 2022 Jumi Signature menu (10 items including sashimi, nigiri, octopus, king crab, wagyu, dessert - $138) + the add-on Bluefin Tuna Nigiri Flight ($18) . All the dishes were interesting and good, there were some excellent melt-in-ur-mouth sashimi. Many items I had to ask the chef again what it was, or I kept referring back to the menu to try to figure out which item it is - such are the delicately crafted concoctions. The drink menu was also exquisite, but of course tagged with high price - i had the iwai tradition whisky ($18 10oz) , as well as a citrus sake ($15) - both really excellent and complemented well the food. Overall between my bf and I and the drinks we ordered , the bill was quite steep - around $480 including tip and tax . Although we did order 4 drinks which increases the tab a lot, unfortunately I do still feel the price was still a bit too high for the food we had - yes, the food was great, but for that price I would expect/like more an out-of-this-world amazingness for the full course. My bf had the same thought. But I do think it's a nice place to go with a special group of people for a very special occasion- cuz the intimate experience and ambiance is still exciting. The 4 stars are mostly for ambiance, service, experience, decor, food uniqueness and delicacy, but I didn't give it a perfect 5 because for the steep price Id like more wowowow factor with all of the food.

The whole community has really grown over the last five years. This restaurant is located at the ground level of a condo building. The door is usually locked, but they would open it for you upon your arrival. They have about ten seats at the sushi bar. They served only dine in omakase at dinner, but also offer take out options as well.

During the lock down and take out era, I fell in love with Jumi Gozen Bar's Mosaic chirashi. A piece of art work that was so delicious. When I heard they are opening for dine in and serving gozen-style meal. I was so excited to try! The ambiance was a nice and cozy venue. I thought I wouldn't be full with this experience but boy, was I wrong! We started from the soup and enjoyed the journey anti clockwise. The red miso soup had a scallop that was cooked to perfection. The cherry blossom tofu was almost too beautiful to eat with a hint of salt and an edible flower. Then the four pieces of seasonal sashimi was so fresh. I've always wanted to try the firefly squid, and it was indeed delicious with flavours inside and the homemade sauce. In terms of the braised bamboo with uni. I love it how they used Hokkaido uni. So sweet and fresh. The Spanish mackerel was delicious along with the garlic foam. So many layers of flavours on the pallet. Then the lightly seared waygu beef. After the waygu beef there was a brief intermission with a series of super fresh and delicious nigiri. The Hokkaido nigiri was so sweet, fresh and tasty! The torched cod nigiri and the list goes on, you will have to experience this yourself! This menu changes every three months and alcohol beverages will be coming soon! Definitely a unique dining experience and excellent place to meet with friends and enjoy this culinary experience together! I will be back!

Got another high quality sushi restaurant in North York! I recently discovered Jumi while shopping at Fairview Mall. Currently the restaurant is in soft opening with takeout only, but I heard that once they officially grand opens they will have a really unique Omakase experience. We tried a few of their signature boxes, such as the Mosaic Chirashi, Premium Nigiri Set, and Aburi sushi. The Mosaic Chirashi is the most unique in terms of the presentation and I'm a big fan of the fatty Otoro on top. The rest of the sushi were really good as well and the fish they use are very fresh and high quality They have a special promo for February right now: get a free order of Salmon Aburi for orders $120+. Must order on their website and you have to manually add the Salmon Aburi to the order (it will charge as $0)

This Gozen bar recently opened for dine in and it was my first time having a "Gozen" style meal. The interior has a L shaped bar with minimal seating. Reservations are required as they only have 2 seatings each night. Service was professional and polite. They explained each dish and was told to eat anticlockwise starting with the red miso soup, then cold dish, leading up to the main dish. Each dish was presented SO beautifully! My friend and I each got the Jumi Signature ($98) which came with: -6 pc chef choice nigiri -4 pc seasonal sashimi -Spanish mackerel confit -firefly squid sumiso -wagyu beef marinated in red wine -cherry blossom tofu -bamboo shoot with uni -red miso soup And we shared "Land" Wagyu Beef Shabu Shabu ($35) There were also other add ons that you could get such as "Ocean" Fish Shabu Shabu ($22) or upgrade to premium nigiri ($30) which they serve omakase style. My favourite of the night was definitely the Wagyu Beef marinated in red wine and the Firefly Squid Sumiso. Ohh and the garlic foam from the Spanish Mackerel was pretty good too! The 6 pc Chef Choice Nigiri came last in the meal but it was so fresh, as were the sashimi. Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the meal was delicious. I also enjoyed watching them make the food in front of me because it was a show of itself, however one star was taken off because I didn't find it filling.

I was craving for sushi one weekend but wanted to try something new. Therefore, I searched on Yelp and found this sushi restaurant near Fairview mall. Let talk about the interior and the level of services first this time. The interior of this restaurant is very modern and basically black. The level of services offer by this Gozen Bar is much higher than I expected for this price range. The waitress and chef will greet you as you enter the restaurant. They will show you the bottle of sake your ordered, even for only one glass. This restaurant uses expensive Schott Zwiesel Tritan crystal wine glass. The waitress / bartender will hand clean ever single wine glass with microfabric cloth. The chef will do their best to plating the Gozen tray as precise to a centimeter. The waitress will hand back your jacket to you by holding it with both hands. All of this shows this restaurant really valued their customers and went to provide them the best services possible. I order the 9 pc premium nigiri Gozen set lunch and it did not disappoint. The presentation of the nigiri sushi is excellent and the sushi chef skill is decent. The nigiri sushi is pressed just right, no to hard or soft. The sushi rice tasted normal (not unique) but this can be a good thing. The sushi fish is very flavourful. I believe some of their fish may have used the Kombujime classic fish aging technique. Since I am not full yet, I ordered the Toro and Wagyu Oshi afterwards. This turn out to be a huge mistake. Maybe every person definition of Toro and Wagyu are different, as their Toro and Wagyu Oshi does not taste like Toro and Wagyu to me at least. The Oshi sushi was pressed too hard and break the texture of the rice, which made the sushi rice feel very soggy. Plus, they put too much rice in their Oshi sushi. Overall, if you want to experience higher end sushi restaurant services for a reasonable price, then this place is for you. I will recommend to visit this place during lunch hours (booking with credit card deposit is mandatory), as they are less busy. Also, parking can be a bit difficult.

Came here last night to celebrate mothers day! Service was great! We were quickly seated as we had made prior reservations for over 2 weeks in advance. Our chef Evan introduced himself and started preparing the dishes. He proceeded to explain each and every dish and fish. Let me say, I loved each and every piece of sushi... sashimi and fish. It was very tasty and both my parents were extremely impressed not only with the presentation but also the level of service they go above and beyond. We had their signature set $98 per person and added on additional nigiri for $30 per person. For $128, I was definitely full, however my boyfriend was just ok. Which isn't uncommon for an omakase experience. However he didn't need to eat anything else afterwards so thats good! Most of us (group of 5) were full and the server had asked if we wanted dessert, which we politely declined. However our chef Evan was nice enough to offer my mom a complimentary dessert on the house for Mother's Day which I thought was super sweet! Definitely give it a try, worth it!

Like all of you, i get attracted by beautiful pics i see on Instagram and need to get in on the latest new restaurants! Thats what brought me here, little did i know dine in was a Gozen Omakase! This means instead of the courses coming one at a time, theyre all served at the same time and then ur sushi course comes after. Was very intrigued by this idea! However, i barely enjoyed it. For the price point, i was being served starch? Roots? i upgraded to premium sushi for and additional +$60 i believe and this took me to $150 price point. Now the sushi quality was really good and delicious. This part i did enjoy. But it was just 5 pieces. So if ure a sushi lover like me, id say pick another spot.

Can you tell the difference? Top is the 16pc deluxe nigiri set ($48) and bottom is the 17pc signature Toro set ($65).

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn.
