The 2 things that got me where the prices for the incredibly simple sandwiches we ordered and that one of the ingredients in one of those sandwiches was missing. It wasn't that there was less of it but there straight is wasn't any mayo on the BLT so it was super bland and not very good. It cost us way too much for a sub like sandwich with literally mean cheese and a little side of soup. 3 ingredients for 15$ or so dollars. Idk what it's like inside the actual restaurant but Postmates says/ charges and extra $2 for the dip part of the French dip sandwich so watch out for that. Junction 52 is one of my favorite spots in Santee. The menu is so big!! Every time I go, I can try something new, and I'm never disappointed. The employees are always accommodating and super sweet. I love the atmosphere here because it always feel homey and local. My favorite item right now is the chicken caesar wrap, but seriously everything is so good and the portions are super filling. It's a good sign the place was busy and we had to wait for a table. The waitress was polite with a friendly smile and she knew the menu. Somewhere in the process, information was lost and 3 out of 5 orders were wrong. Wrong sides, not cooked as requested. The Gyro plate was dried out; meat/bread/salad, too much time under the heat lamp? The place seemed clean, however I trip to the bathroom was a bit dangerous. I've been to this location a handful of times. My experience, pre-covid, was not the best. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the outdoor dining at the time. We got a side of the vinegar Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and enjoyed them. The service was incredibly slow, though we did go during dinner time. But it took nearly two hours from sitting down to finally getting to eat our food. However, I recently had a hankering for their food. Upon coming to the restaurant to order takeout, i've since come to find out that this restaurant is openly defying social distances measures under the guise of a "peaceful protest". Look. I understand that businesses are struggling and I have sympathy for them. But I believe that businesses that are complying with the rules are also struggling, and it is not fair to them, nor the community that is experiencing increase in cases that this restaurant is opening through this "first amendment loophole". I personally believe that the restaurants that deserve my business are ones that have concern over the safety of their customers, staff, and community. This was my first visit to Junction 52 because I usually go to the one in Rancho San Diego. The quality of food is so bad here. I have ordered a steak at least 15 times in Rancho, and it is always good. However, I asked for a medium rare steak and it was well done. Their excuse was that it was the "last cut". Then they brought out another steak cooked less (medium to medium well) and it was not edible. Literally it was hard and chewy. Does the chef even know what medium rare is? I've been to Junction 52 many times. The food is delish, the customer service is attentive, and I respect and support their 'peaceful protest.' My favorite dish is their pest alfredo pasta dish with salmon. It's simply divine! During my last visit, an intoxicated customer who sat at a table next to us started being rude, boisterous, and obnoxious. We are a mixed race family and the other customer started making insensitive racial comments. Our waitress quickly intervened, asked the intoxicated, obnoxious customer to leave, and comped our beverages (which was not necessary, but appreciated!!) I thank the staff at Junction 52 for their handling of the situation, for our excellent meal, and for keeping the atmosphere enjoyable. read more

After trying this restaurant for the first time a few months ago, and absolutely loving the service and food, we've been wanting to go back. Having a cheat day on our regimented diet, we were excited to be able to order from here again. After looking over the menu and considering many delicious-sounding options, we just HAD to order the Philly Cheese Steak again because we liked it so much the last time. We upgraded to tots and also got the chicken strips which came with fries, and the macaroni and cheese. We were sadly disappointed in the overall food order :-( We always reheat our takeout food in our toaster oven, which in this case badly needed it. This also helps us realize that there were Barely Any tots! For paying $2 extra, we hoped we'd get more than a handful of tots. The meat on the sandwich seemed much less full than last time and just wasn't as good overall. We really enjoyed the mac and cheese and the shoestring fries were our favorites. 3 stars for flavor, correct order, and being open amidst bs lockdowns. We may return, but just not sure when. We understand everyone has an off night, but we value consistency and it will take us a while to get over being so let down. read more

Let me start with PROs this spot has good food and drinks. We go there for lunch frequently. The server/bartender Catherine is so pleasant. She knows us by face. You always have service with a smile from her. Now the CONS the bartender CRAIG is a completely unethical person. I visited on 2/15 my bill was 50.63 When I redeem my points the lowered my bill to less than $12-$15 We go a lot so I had plenty of points I Gave Craig a $5 tip. He asked me if I wanted a receipt. I made the mistake by saying "no" the transaction will be on my card. CRAIG CHARGED my card $55.63 W/O redeeming my points. Some how I feel like he did something shady cause my points are gone but I can't prove it cause I didn't get a receipt! I came in starving so I ordered a burger medium it comes out the onion rings are completely burnt like you could break a tooth, bacon is completely burnt and the burger is like completely like well, well, well done. So I'm starving I eat what I can and walk away just feeling completely flattened you know it's like so disappointing to spend $16 on a hamburger walking out feeling like confidently you would have had a better experience getting some crap through a drive-thru window. Server was nice but, also I don't like the way you guys are putting the default tip at 18% it's like you know the going rate is 15 so you're making us jump through extra hoops for a STANDARD tip, and it's like you know it's just generally annoying I don't think I'm going to eat here again. It's like if I'm going to give 18 or 20 or 25% the server has to be amazing, 15% is just for like doing your job. If she'd come back more quickly ( I could tell she was hustling so I have no complaints about her speediness or anything like that ) I probably would have said hey this burger stinks, it's horrible, send it back and I sat there for a couple minutes with an empty drink too so all together... I was excited to try this place out when I saw their flyer in the mail, sadly I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong! They a have some good deals during happy hour, and their happy hour is practically all day. But there were a hand full of small "attention to detail" and quality issues. Things like stale tortilla chips, burger buns a little too hard to enjoy, the ribs although meaty, were kinda dry and chewy. Kids pizza is a really good deal! Its huge! Other than the food, the service was decent. The servers (and maybe some hostesses?) Were very friendly and attentive, but being a server myself, there were a few things i didn't care for. We seemed to have like 3 or 4 people serving us, which I truly admire the teamwork but it makes it hard to determine who our server was specifically (for questions and tip purposes). Also, with the limited capacity and small amount of tables and amount of servers that helped us, there is no reason that our table was crowded with empty plates and glasses at the end of put meal, they could have put in more effort to pre-bus and make our experience just that much better. Overall, it was okay. We might go back some day, but its definitely not anywhere close to the top of our favorites list. read more

How about you guys clean this place. Tables were sticky and smelt like dirty dish towel. The windows and front doors look like the haven't been cleaned in months. It's disgusting these days. Not sure what's happened or is happening there. Junction 52 used to be one of our favorite Friday night places. Now it just feels and looks grimes. Clean that dirty place!! Your arms shouldn't stick to the tables. The table closest to the kitchen entry is so wobbly and your drink almost tips over. Won't be going back anytime soon. So last time my family went here we were seated right away (there wasn't many people there) but it took almost an hour for the server to come take our order. She was talking and laughing with the bartender she was on the phone for a while it was very rude but when we got out food it was good so we decided to give them another try but.........this time My family of 4 stood in the front waiting to be seated for 15 minutes along with a family of 6 in front of us. We were walked right past like we dint exist. Both our families ended up just leaving. Every time I have been here the service has been atrocious and that is a shame because the food is good. Unfortunately this was a EPIC FAILURE for me (and my friends) due to abysmal customer service and terrible management/staff attitudes. Came here with some buddies after first wanting to go to Oak Tree Tavern which happened to be closed for a private event. We were happy to find a place that seemed lively, tons of TVs with sports and races on. Seated fairly quickly which was cool even though it was packed to full capacity around 8pm. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders with a super polite and happy attitude, she came back just as quick with our drinks and then took our food order. We all got burgers or sandwiches. Two came out after about 20 minutes. Another two five minutes later. No worries, good food takes time. They came out hot and looked great. They tasted great, BUT I requested a medium rare burger and the server couldn't tell us which of the three Diablo burgers was medium rare. One the burgers was requested to have an egg on it-but they forgot. We reminded them and they brought it back out a minute later. Our fifth diners food wasn't ready yet. A runner told us it was almost done. Cool. A few guys got more drinks- the waitress brought them out and advised she forgot which beer was which and that "someone could taste one and figure it out" which even in non-COVID times is dumb as hell. Who wants to drink a beer that may be a friends (or a stranger for that matter-what if this was a business meeting or date?) to taste, in order to rectify the staffs forgetfulness? NO ONE. About 15 minutes later (30-40 min after the first burgers came out), we still hadn't been advised of the missing burger. Our waitress was hanging out at the bar, talking with the bartender for at least 5, if not 10 minutes and hadn't checked on us or our missing food. We raised our hands to get her attention. On her way over our friend coyly said "hey, where's my food?" with a huge smile and shrug of his hands. She didn't hear him and so he stated he'd been waiting 20 minutes after we got our food and wanted to know where his was. She went to the kitchen and immediately grabbed it off the counter/window, tossed it on the table, said he should be nicer next time and walked away. Again, he wasn't rude. Asked to speak to a manager, she came over and told us her waitress said that she was cursed at by my buddy. All of us were dumbfounded. Pretty sure I looked like a deer in headlights. We asked for our check, which took ANOTHER 20 minutes and for one of us to walk up to someone and ask a second time. By now the place was at 1/5 capacity. The waitress came back and mentioned again. how rude she thought he was-as he was trying to make up just to calm the situation. We advised her that her manager said our friend swore at her-to which she said she never told her manager that. Terrible communication among the staff here. Maybe that's why they forgot his food. We spent $125 between the five of us. If we hadn't asked to have the severely delayed burger removed from the check and had terrible service it would have been upwards of $200 pre-tax as we planned to get another round of beers and another appetizer. Management should hold their staff accountable for the service that will result in lost profits. Unfortunately I don't think any of us will be back anytime soon. ‍ read more

I have been going here since it has opened. Great service and good food. Today was unreal!!! Got there at 2:30. Got seated on the patio. Was given a menu. Sat there for 10 min and waited. Two service workers came out and cleared a table. Never said anything. I finally asked if there was anyone in this area. Reply: yes. Someone would be out. Waited another 5 mins. Saw no one. We left. It was not busy so I don't know why we were ignored. It has never happened before -- even when they are busy. You are greeted and asked what you want to drink while you wait. I think the reviews here are pretty spot on for a lot of the items. This place was not for a quiet/relaxing dinner. Even as a sports fan, the people here were absolutely annoyingly loud. The service was ok. Not great, not bad. We ordered three meals. They brought the wrong item to my table. When I asked the server about it, she didn't seem to want to acknowledge it. I had to point out it was a completely different item. This was also a big mistake. The item they brought me looked fresher, better and a nicer looking portion than what I actually got. However, it's the same type of item. Does that make any sense? No. My wife got a burger. She liked it but when I tried it, it was ridiculously salty. She puts a lot of ketchup on it which is probably why she didn't have that issue. The kids meal pizza was the best item of the 3. The pizza was ok, but it was enough to feed 3 of us. The pizza is what saved this dinner. I wouldn't go here again. I'm sad because I've heard a lot about this place via social media. Junction 52 is an interesting spot. The menu is vast and really has something for everyone. During baseball games, the restaurant becomes very lively and you will see the "homers" come out in numbers and root for the Pads. I have visited J52 several times in the past year and honestly it has been tough to pinpoint a final opinion about it. This is mostly because of the inconsistencies I have experienced here with the food and drinks. This is my attempt at an honest analysis of my visits... The food has been great at times and abysmal at others. I have started to learn that pizza and the jumbo shrimp, along with some of the other fried foods, are a safe bet. I mean, you can't really mess those up can you? I've had good an bad burgers/sliders. The tacos are a "no-go." I've had terrible cocktails and great ones. (Don't order anything too wild--order basic cocktails). The service has been a little more consistent. The servers are generally kind and work hard.
