Cute little local coffee shop. Seating area seems nice but a bit small so ordered to go. Staff was nice enough to give some recommendations when asked. Ordered a mocha latte which was more on the subtle side. The biscuit ended up being more like a roll which was underwhelming for something they considered a more popular item. The meat handpie was really good, great seasoning and portion size. Would probably come back to try the other drinks and food to get a better feel.

Such a cute spot. Food was delish! Great service. No complaints. Tried the breakfast hand pie, gumbo, and cowboy fries. The remoulade sauce is amazing. Cold brew coffee was very good too.

What a wonderful lunch spot to stumble upon in such a cute area. GET THE COWBOY FRYS PLEASE - they were perfect and next time we're adding more perfection with the brisket. Po boy was def something to write home about. Very very kind service - we'll be back!

Went here for the first time since I had some free time and was in the area. The beignets and gumbo were fantastic! Will be back again! The owner was very nice and welcome as well!

I ordered takeout because I was in a rush but it would've been nice to eat inside. I got the matcha latte with lavender syrup and I also tried the gumbo. The gumbo was really good and came with a side of rice. Considering gumbo isn't a food I would think of when I think about Chicago, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The matcha latte was sweet and was exactly what I needed. My one regret was not trying the beignets. This is great for a quick bite, a lunch date, or somewhere to just hang out. The menu had a decent amount of food options and the drinks are very customizable. The interior of the cafe was decorated nicely and the staff offered great customer service. They were welcoming, knowledgeable, and quite helpful. I have a few spots I like to visit when I'm in town and this will be added to my rotation.

10/10 local gem. Love the Nola vibes, coffee, and fresh beignets. Staff is super friendly and helpful as well! Highly recommend coming here

Wow how did I almost miss reviewing Junebug Cafe? I'd heard of Junebug for a few years because I'm not sure there's a lot of places in Chicago where you can get beignets. For whatever reason I didn't make it here until a couple months ago which was unfortunate for me since I could have been beignet-ing for a while. The beignets are delicious, as you might expect. They're also huge which makes me happy since I don't eat them often, and covered in powdered sugar which they should be. They also have the best deal in town, with beignets half off from 8-11 Monday through Friday... so you know when I'll be there. I've also had a breakfast hand pie, which was okay but maybe not my favorite, and a biscuit for the little one. The biscuit was good but the grill the inside of it so if you'd rather they didn't, you should make sure to mention it. The beverages I've had--peach iced tea and strawberry lemonade--were really good and this is a place that makes a delicious iced tea. I haven't even tried their chai yet--particularly their seasonal one--and chai is my go-to drink so I need to head back soon! I am looking forward to trying a po boy or muffuletta here; I don't think I've ever had a muffuletta so that will be a treat. The parking is street only, but I've been lucky when I stopped in. They have some seating indoors--maybe about a dozen tables (it's a small establishment), plus a few window seats. In the warm winter months they've had some outdoor tables as well.

A nice upbeat local spot. The employees here are friendly and have great recommendations. The menu here is NOLA themed so all lot can catch the eye. I got a biscuit, egg, and cheese sandwich and it was great. I would've liked jelly with the sandwich, that would have put it over the top. The ice coffee was great. I got a splash of half and half and praline syrup.

What an amazing time! The Breakfast Pie (Louisiana Hand Pie) was absolutely delicious, and their Matcha was the perfect accompaniment. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming - I felt right at home! The decor, with its New Orleans vibes and charming masks, creates such a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Loved every moment of my visit!

He's a homeowner now in an adjacent neighborhood - please respect his privacy - and he still enjoys stopping by on the way back from Scott's Tots. The coffee was great - as were the empanadas! Typically I do not love savory breakfast but when it comes to empanadas Ima dog it down every time no complaints. We got: -meat empanada (me) -ham and cheese morning bun (my brother's fave) And for to drink: -Chicago fog -Lake Shore Chaga It was delicious - perfect complement to the crisp Chicago air. Excellent service as well! Truthfully, what really warmed me to this place is that my brother's dog Wibby used to love coming to get pets and a pup cup from the window. She's been gone about 4 months now so it's always special to see little reminders of her around the neighborhood. Xoxoxo

The shop is sparsely decorated but seems to be a real staple in the community, which felt special to visit as an outsider. My friend and I both ordered egg and goat cheese bagel sandwiches. I ordered an iced lavender matcha and my friend ordered a cappuccino. The sandwiches were made with boiled eggs, which felt extremely odd. The egg type was not clarified on the menu, but I feel like for a breakfast sandwich to include a boiled egg instead of a traditional fried or scrambled egg, that should be disclosed to customers with some sort of expectations. My friend said the cappuccino was "just like every other cappuccino I've ever had." The lavender matcha really just tasted like a regular matcha. It was good but not much lavender flavor! Our food also took a bit to come out, despite the coffee shop being empty (only one other person already dining when we came in) and what we ordered. It looked like there were only two workers. I personally wouldn't visit Sipping Turtle Cafe again, unfortunately. There are a lot of other great options around that satisfy me more.

Just a heads up: seating is incredibly limited, giving it a snug neighborhood feel.
