This was my first time here. Wanted to try something new and wanted to try out their wings here. The wings were good but had a slight of an after taste like old deep frying oil. Nothing too much to complain about...it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't spectacular. The ahi tuna wasn't as fresh as I'd like and it seemed a little...naked. Had a fun night dancing in PJ which was an unexpected treat. Friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately I left an open tab and was over charged for drinks we didn't buy. The bartender told us to call the manager to correct it. After returning the next day to speak with staff, it was not corrected. We called but there was no answer and the mailbox was full. This is one of my favorite bars in port Jefferson- my friends and I have had some great memories here over the past 4 years. Today, when we walked in we couldn't recognize it! They are now under new management and the whole bar has been redone with a new vibe. They even have a new food menu. Definitely miss the old Spycoast but they've done a nice job with the place (still love the music, can't help but dance, even if it's just in your seat, when you're here) Hoping to make this "new bar" one of our regular spots. Terrible design, the bar is too narrow and impossible to move around in. The drinks are too expensive and the staff isn't friendly.

After walking around the area we needed a place to relax for a few & grab drinks. We came in & sat at the bar, decide to go with a IPA good beer but being an IPA it has quite the after taste once u get over that it's not bad at all. Since we just wanted drinks didn't get to try any of the food, maybe next time. Small place not too big, a lot of pics on the wall just don't know exactly who all the people are! Regardless I figured I could share my experience with everyone. I originally went into Juniors Spycoast to charge my phone, I sat down ordered a beer and proceeded to do so, upon coming back from the bathroom my quarter drank- still chilled beer was thrown out from the bar. When the staff was confronted they were too busy entertaining friends behind the bar, refused to reimburse me with another as they thought I'd left. Rude employs, bad business ethic, worse bar. I must give 5 stars as the food was far better than I could have expected and I can't wait to come back. Junior's Spycoast opened over the past summer in the location that used to be Old Port Pub. While Old Port Pub used to be a lazy local's watering hole, Spycoast is much livelier establishment resembling a cross between a sports bar and a safe house? I'm still not sure how the spy theme fits with the large flatscreens showing different games (football the last time I was there), but I guess it works. Hipsterish bartenders serve beer in mason jars and drinks from their Signature Menu such as Sazeracs, Hot Toddies, and Sidecars, while an indie rock heavy playlist carries on in the background. I've never had any items off their food menu, but pub grub coming from the kitchen always looks great and comes in big portions! Worth checking out as a first stop on your Port Jeff bar crawl! Once again I was talked into going here by one of my friends, she said they had a drink that she likes? We went in late afternoon, it was like a repeat or continuation of the last time! An annoying bartender who huddled to one side and continually blabbed to others huddled with him about politics both local and National, disparaging the village, the state , our country and yes our president! I don't particularly like anyone who speaks badly about the president of the United States, not this guy, not the last guy, none of it- it's unpatriotic! That alone would have been enough for me to call this a day and leave. But then her drink sucked too! LOL! Thank god I don't have to ever go back to that hole in the wall, wanna be a bar! Junior's is a great place to go in the middle of the week, when the people of Long Island stay indoors and outside of bars. Then, the bar is a nice, quieter place to hang out. The music is always a little bit too loud, but you can find a place to sit and chat while drinking beer and cocktails served in a mason jar. On the weekends, Junior's is another beast entirely... the music is dancing-level loud, but there's nowhere to dance because the place is too narrow and the bar is too crowded. You would think that the sardine situation would make talking to your friends easier, but no matter how close you are, it's still impossible to hear. Other than that, there's a small tap and bottle selection, but the beer options are decent. Usually there's a Magic Hat and a Brooklyn Brewery option. And the blue Long Island is quite delicious. Wandering after work (been down in the area for work this week...) I had some sushi and popped into this slightly divey alcovey airy bar (warm spring night so they kept the doors open). First element of one of these places is well aged; second is chatting it up with a Harley driving local about the merits of one of the local citizens (Richie Blackmore) and the music of Deep Purple and Rainbow. Add to this second a slightly goofy photo interior of odd looking Long Island residents posing and a very Fran Drescher-ish bartender (she wouldn't last a week where I'm from). Mix and stir and you a really pleasant spot for a vodka after work. Next time I'm here I'll try the wings when I get back here in a year. One star off for the crowd...all male. read more

Really? Have some pride. This could be the best place in the world. But a disgusting bathroom will ruin everything. I've seen some bad men's rooms in my day but this may take the cake.1/4" of water with wet toilet paper on the floor, no mirror and a makeshift lock that barely works. Toilet did not flush. Not to mention it was almost too small to turn around in. Amazing it had hand soap. The beer selection was minimal and disappointing. Here's the deal if you don't want to go to billies or tommys or schaefers and don't want the riff raff and want to feel a little more upscale come here the food and service is good and here's one difference. The place is new and clean.they have tvs and sports on too. But I will say the bartenders seem a little off like you are bothering them to help you. And it is small and long so not a lot of room if your not at the bar. She measured my drink but not the other guys who was there longer or she knew. That bothered me. Pour heavy and I'll tip heavy. They scanned my Maryland ID, it said potential fake when it is real... and the bartender aggressively tells me to get out. I ask him to scan it again, it says accepted, and he still tells at me to get out. Super end to a day where I spent 15 hours in a hospital while my friend had surgery. Everything seemed nice the first night I was there. I get you are scared of serving underage people, but have some class when you scan it again and it comes up okay. I went here after happy hour on a weekday to catch up with a friend. Not many people were in, which we were happy about since we could carry a conversation without unintentionally eaves dropping on 3+ others around us. The drinks here are decently priced. My friend got a bud light ($4) and I got a jack and coke ($6). Fun perk: drinks are served in mason jars! I asked about the wine selection as well, and I was hoping for a better selection. Only 2-3 white or red wines respectively. My favorite part was definitely the music they played. They had some tracks by The Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a few other good bands. There were also big flat-screen TV's right at the bar, so I can imagine this is a great place to go to watch a game. It's also very well kept and very clean. Went in here for a drink with two out of state friends, bartender claimed they have a policy not to serve anyone under 25 with an out of state ID even though they have a machine to scan and verify them. Also refused to serve our NY residents either citing that rule. Never going back here again after all this bullshit. read more

HORRIBLE bouncer, poorly managed bar, rude owner. Bouncer snapped ID in half and told me to leave the bar. He claimed my ID was a fake but instead of confiscating it like a mature adult he bend it in half and then handed it back to me saying "I don't know what to tell you, this is how it was when you handed it to me" Then I had my license and age verified by a police officer. I have an out-of-state license like many of the other reviews for this place. When I called to explain the situation to the manager and owner, they were still claiming the ID's were fake and that I was not allowed to come back to the bar with a DMV receipt for a new license for the price to be reimbursed. Then rudely told me off by saying the cops did not file a police report so why should the bar give a shit about my license, then hung up. To be realistic I would not have driven all the way to Port Jefferson again to get a check for a new license but since everyone at this establishment is rude and actually said they don't care about me or any poor reviews or complaints about the bar then here we are... my first ever yelp review. read more

I just don't know about this place. I love the decor and the indie off beat music (it sounds just like my favorite Pandora station) and seem to like it enough on a lazy warm Saturday afternoon but a couple of things keep me from becoming a regular. It drives my husband crazy that they serve beer in mason jars (especially a Guinness) because of the shape of the class and the fact that they are smaller than your standard pint. The service can sometimes be lacking. I've wanted to try their burger and a beer special but can never get their early enough. Good place to hang and have a drink. Its a good local bar nice mix of people. They have 8 or 9 big screen TVs for sports and such. Our bartender was friendly and made a very good martini and they also wear a dress shirt and tie. Drink prices $10-12 in a big mason jar they also serve food but didn't see anyone order any. It's a sports bar....there looked to be many "bros" slamming shots in the middle of the day at one end of the bar. Tons of televisions for sporting events.....and a pretty small tap. It was there, it's clean and open enough space. Haven't had the food, but I can't imaging it being overwhelmingly amazing.
