The food and service were great, and I want to acknowledge our server Christine, who was a real joy to interact with. We stopped in for a Friday lunch. I ordered a salad and one of the soup specials. My Burrata Salad was $14 for a big portion of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and basil topped with a big hunk of burrata cheese, roasted peppers and a balsamic glaze. The salad was excellent, especially the creamy decadent Burrata. Half of it came home with us. My soup was a cup of Mediterranean Lentil for $6. It came in a bowl-sized portion with a big hunk of fresh Italian bread. Both were great, and I loved how the soup was served piping hot and not tepidly lukewarm like so many places serve their soups. My wife ordered an Eggplant Parmigiana Flatbread, and this is where Christine displayed her customer service skills. She told us the restaurant had run out of Eggplant the night before and ran back to the kitchen to see if there was a new supply ready for today. She came back and said it hadn't been fully prepped yet, so it wasn't available, but would we like to try Cauliflower Parmigiana instead? That sounded intriguing to us, and we agreed. The flatbread that came out ($16) was delicious. Big nuggets of sauteed Cauliflower with cheese and marinara sauce on a flatbread. Came here for Mothers Day Brunch and had a great time! Keep in mind for anyone reading previous reviews, Port Bistro just reopened after a remodel so I believe they took this time to perfect things elsewhere as well. We were greeted right away and wanted to listen to the live music (Acoustic Hand & JC) so we sat ourselves down in the bar area. Service was very attentive and not annoying. Great job! For food, we started with the Mac & Cheese bites which were served warm and SO delicious! Crispy outside and tasty marinara sauce to dip. I am very picky about my acai bowls, but this one passed the test. The display was very cute and then I mixed together the ingredients myself. In a world where prices have skyrocketed beyond belief, it's nice to see a burger for under $20! Our first time here and while we were slightly confused by the decor (ironic home decor is the theme?) we were hopeful. Staff were very accommodating, especially Tess who was attentive and engaging. The food was exceptional- Burgers juicy without being greasy and drinks were cold. Live music was a nice touch and the environment was family friendly. After a beautiful Saturday here on our island, my friend offered an evening in Port.Parking was super simple even though those meters are ALOT(I get the process though)...not pricey,just a longer amount of typing than other meters I have experienced..no biggie just saying. We walked in and were immediately seated without a reservation. My friends,friends band was playing and I was in the tropics within my mind the melodies were great.The waiter was polite,cute too but polite and we really felt relaxed.My friend wanted lobster ravioli which must be a popular item..they had sold out.A polite apology was made and my friend chose Burrata ravioli. I decided upon a Nashville chicken sandwich which was out of this world.From the toasted brioche bun to the spices and crispness,the pictures that I had seen on YELP did this Sammy justice.My friend quickly devoured her ravioli and was pleased with her replacement dish. I liked that after we finished our meal our table was not rushed to get up.We enjoyed our cocktails with leisure.I didn't realize my cc had expired and was embarrassed, the waiter was very kind and we fixed the issue immediately. STARTER SAMPLER Here you get a mix of different things like the fried mac and cheese, fried rice balls (arrancini) with a marinara sauce and these were satisfyingly crumbly, cheesy, and enjoyable. Do I feel that they could have been frozen items that were oven-reheated? Possibly. With the char marks and the cheese oozing from small defects of the bottom, it's giving me oven-toasted energy. Were they still kind of yummy though? Yeah CHICKEN PASTA The portions are huge for the pasta, I'll give them that. Definitely boxed pasta, with a cream sauce that could have been bolder flavor-wise, with not dry but not juicy pieces of chicken either. Really awful experience. We arrived with four other tables seated around noon on a Saturday, so pretty quiet. It took an hour for our food to come. They did look short staffed, but the waitress, manager, owner never came to say anything. We just waited... When it did come it came piece meal one plate at a time and half the orders were wrong. The food was okay, nothing great. Several other options equal to or better in Port Jefferson. I would not recommend Port Bistro and Pub. I will not be going back. read more

Outdoors has a great vibe, with fantastic entertainer on a Tuesday night. Very clever, they share entertainers with the Taco Bar next door. We started with some apps: the big pretzel and loaded fries. I want to give this place 5 stars, but the size of loaded fries for $15 was robbery. For $15, you need to double the amount of fries. It's barely a portion for 1 person, in a small skillet. That said, They are DELICIOUS!! Covered in cheese & scalions and topped with some short rib meat. But def not worth $15. Deduct one star for that, and my $11 beer that the menu says $8. And even if it did..$11 for a plastic cup beer in a parking lot is taking advantage. Other than that..great dinner, great time and great server. The food overall is outstanding. We all Loved our entrees: short rib covered burger, Bobb salad, Avocado grilled chicken sliders and penne ala vodka. We were too full for dessert. Definitely will be back. If you're in the area, don't bother. This place is in a prime location in Port Jeff, it could be a big success if it was good. But it isn't. We ordered the bruschetta for our appetizer, beet salad and cob salad. They all came out at the same time (about 35 min in an empty restaurant). The bruschetta was on slices of toast and it was only cut up tomato. No garlic. It felt like it was a struggle Meal I could make at home. The beet salad had too many beats it was overwhelming. The service was nonexistent I didn't even know who my server was because 3 different people came to our table. There was a young man cleaning right next to us while we ate. The decor is outdated and not take cared for. Nobody ever came to check on us, we had to call someone over for our check. We were the only ones eating on a Friday night 8pm. Don't come here!! The new owners get it! I don't want to come to a pub and have 25 craft beer choices. I want to drink beer made locally. Long Island is making the best beers, its a smart choice to offer local beers. My wife & I ordered drinks and some mussels in white wine. So far so good. The menu also has a burrata ball, chicken wings and a large pretzel as appetizer choices. Any pub must have a great pub burger and fries. Ok, we're game and we both ordered the same thing. Not too long of a wait, the burgers come to our table. Nice fresh bun, I'll give them that but the fries? They were like toothpicks?? Meh. We both ordered medium burgers, The burgers came out a little rare for our tastes. Listen, I don't want to trash this new spot, I live here and want to drink at the bar! I could have sent them both back but IMHO, the burger wasn't anything special. While the food was a little pricy, it's one of those situations where the plate justifies how much they charge. I had a some wings as an appetizer, a burger, and a some churro ice cream sandwich for dessert. All of which were not only well plated but well tasting. The only downside I'd say was the wait times for the server to come back were a little longer than I was anticipating, but since I went an hour and a half before closing I can't say for certain if that's usually how long it takes or I just got dealt a bad hand. The food was hit-or-miss: the sliders were good, the chicken wrap was kinda bland, the Nashville chicken sandwich was too saucy and not very spicy at all, fried pickles were really good (but, not as difficult to make fried pickles, right?) The service here is what I remember, and it wasn't positive. When we arrived, it took about 10 minutes to seat us, even though there were empty tables outside. Moreover, the staff looked miserable and/or panicky. To be fair, our server (the one who took our orders) was friendly. But as we were there we noticed the other servers were very gruff. It was uncomfortable. I hypothesized that the place is understaffed; on a holiday weekend, that's poor management. read more

I ordered the mile high burger, it was huge. I actually filled up on the shared loaded fries that came with sour cream. Fantastic! My friend ordered the peanut butter dream burger. He loved it! I had a bite, Mmmmmmmm. I ordered a watermelon margarita. The bartender was nice enough to let me know it wasn't available and offered up other ones. I picked out Strawberry Margarita on the rocks. I've eaten here a few times, and love their calamari, the short rib sliders, the pasta dishes, and burgers. Love their brunch menu but today my husband and I came for dinner and drinks! We enjoyed a s'mores martini, the Santa-gria, and some seasonal Cosmo I can't remember...it was an awesome time at the bar. Understanding that COVID is a problem for all of these family run businesses and restaurants it's important to support these local places. We even drove an hour to come here from out west because it's a lovely place. Look- I don't need an up-my-butt waiter, or some fancy -shmancy looking dish. This place does it right. I have been here a couple of times and each time the food and service have been amazing. The first time we stopped was just for a drink but i regret we didn't stay there to eat. A few people at the bar had burgers and apps plus Italian dishes and they all looked amazing. Finally went back and had lunch. I had the shrimp avocado jack cheese flat bread which was amazing and my significant other had the blt quesadilla which he still talks about. We went back again today and had Justin since we sat at the bar. I had an amazing Gruyère and spinach egg white omelette absolutely amazing. Again my significant other had the eggs Benedict which he loved and a side of bacon. This place is definitely worth a trip to Port Jeff. Can't wait to go back. Easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. We came in towards the end of the night and there were only two other tables seated. We were seated pretty quickly and the sever got our drinks and took our appetizer order and then disappeared. Eventually a man who I'm assuming is the manager comes over and says the kitchen will be closing and if we wanted anything else we'd have to order soon. I explained that we've been waiting to order but our server never came back. He was nice about it, took the order and not long after the server came back with appetizers. The mac and cheese balls were average but the pretzel was burnt to the point where half wasn't edible. I was going to ask for it to be taken back or remade but the server disappeared again. Both of our drinks were empty and we see the server sitting in the closed section eating and no one else came near our table. There were 3 servers, one person who seems to be a busser, the manager, and two people behind the bar and at this point we were the only table left so I don't get how no one could be bothered to check on us. Eventually the server came back, we asked for drink refills and then he left to do side work/set tables and never brought us our drinks. We eventually asked the busser if we could get refills when we were basically done with our meal and did get finally them by a pissed off looking bartender (our drinks were soda btw). We even had to wave someone over just to get the check. I got a BLT which was ok, pretty skinny and mostly bread but my date loved his chicken sandwich so that was good at least. The fries were really good too. So, decent food but holy crap did the service suck. And we were very nice - asked if the kitchen was open before sitting down, pleases and thank yous at every interaction. So I don't know what their deal was. read more

Sent it back for a 2nd shrimp scampi and came back with the same "burnt taste" litterly left a bad "burnt taste" in my mouth. The after-taste was disgusting. I do not recommend this establishment. .
