I have to admit I've been used to expecting disappointment with Mexican food coming from Canada, where all I ever see are hard shell tacos and bloody shredded cheese on everything. Junior's Tacos definitely lives up to what I've always expected Mexican food to be - delicious, diverse, and really exciting. I'm fortunate to live down the block from this place and although there are 2 taco trucks right near me, Junior's is an easy choice. Caveat: I've only had the tacos. The fish tacos are worth the 12 min wait and you can always call to order ahead and pick it up when it's ready. Each of the other protein choices have their own distinct seasoning and marinades, which makes it worthwhile to try one of each and expect them to actually taste pretty different (ie. not everything covered in sour cream and "cheese" - but that's another issue). It all tastes nice and fresh with the fresh onion, cilantro, and radishes. The hot sauces (both of them) are a bit on the mild side for me but it's not a dealbreaker. Whether or not it's authentic I'm not at liberty to say since I've never eaten in Mexico, but my guess is that it's pretty close. Super affordable ($1.50-$2 per taco), open late right next to a shop that has a great beer selection, can't go wrong. read more

Absolutely authentic. best tacos in this town. the location is kinda sketchy but its worth the drive. its a small taco truck on the side of a gas station,but don't let it fool you, it is delicious. I have had the pollo tacos, carne tacos, chorizo tacos and lengua tacos ( I dont know about lengua tacos, but I felt adventurous that day) it has all been wonderful. We went to Junior's this past weekend for lunch and it did not disappoint. I got a trio of tacos: chorizo, asada and carnitas. All three were great, but I think the carnitas was my favorite. The tortillas were perfect. My only "complaint" is that I added lettuce/tomato/cheese---and got a very light sprinkling of cheddar. I'm used to getting the white mexican style cheese on my tacos. Other than that, it was excellent! It's pretty amazing that food like that can come out of a parking lot! read more

I've tried tacos from here twice -- once as takeout (al pastor, cow tongue, and fish tacos) and once when I came by to order (chorizo quesadilla) and ate at the park nearby with friends. The tacos here are decent and the prices are decent, although this isn't my fave in the city since I prefer Los Gauchos more. Their best tacos are the cow tongue, but it's quite popular and was sold out on my second trip here. I was not a fan of the chorizo quesadilla, it needs something else to balance out the strong chorizo. Also, service was meh -- the guy who works here seemed sorta impatient and a tad annoyed at his customers, but we did get our food fairly quickly. The biggest draw for me to this truck is the location, since it's so close to where I'm situated so it's very useful to have around when I'm having a craving. Stopped by this truck during the Columbus Food Truck Festival, mostly because I wanted tacos and the crowd here was large enough to ensure quality, but small enough that I wouldn't spend an hour waiting for my food. I ordered their 3 for $8 tacos, which were pretty solid. A bit smaller than expected, but nonetheless tasty. You can choose from a variety of fillings including steak, chicken, carnita, or al pastor, and you don't have to order 3 of the same - yay for mix-and-match! Just had my first Junior's experience. Let me just say that I never knew there could be tacos as good as or better than most Chicago taquerias. I was wrong. Three carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro, and a can of Coke. Could have been the best $5.50 I've spent so far in Columbus. Very fresh meat, with a little bit of chew, complimented by the perfect amount (and perfectly diced) onions and cilantro. The red sauce was spicy with just a little smoke - sometimes the smokiness is too overwhelming. The green sauce was perfect as well. I'll be back...maybe tonight! read more

Columbus is a haven for tacos lately and Junior's is one of the key players in that. They serve a great taco at a great price ($1.50 per) but personally, I'd go for the burrito ($6)! The sauces are pretty good too albeit they are sometimes inconsistent with spice level. My heart will always lie with Los Guachos for Al Pastor, but for everything else I would put Junior's on par or better than Los Guachos (especially for chicken). I will give them HUGE props for being able to make a 50-taco order on-the-fly on a Friday night for a birthday gathering we had at my friend's place. Amazing service and it was ready in 15 minutes!! Give it a go! Just don't be too disappointed when your al pastor doesn't come with roasted pineapple...the taste will suffice enough! read more

I haven't had carne asada this great in awhile. I've been here once before during Halloween, didn't get anything, but did try a bite of my friends taco and swore to come back, yesterday I did. Oh so good! When I walked up it looked like I was the first person to be there in a few hours. I worried this would mean old food. How wrong I was, I ordered two carne asada tacos and a veggie quesadilla and the man said it would take a few minutes which I took as a good sign. He grilled the veggies fresh (while he was chatting with me he said he likes it that way so they don't get mushy) and I got my order in a couple of minutes. For the amount of food I got and only spending seven bucks I was mightily impressed. Oh the way back to my place it smelled so good in my car I had to stop myself from eating while driving. The carne was spicy and tender, they also include radishes with the tacos and their salsa ain't half bad! The quesadilla came with green peppers, I believe squash or zucchini, onions, and tomtatos and was cripsy on the outside and the cheese was perfectly melted inside. I will most definitely go back here whenever I'm in the area. Pro tip: The credit card machine is currently broken, so take cash. read more

Unfortunately I was completely unimpressed with Junior's. Having lived in Austin TX for a while where they have amazing Mexican and having visited some of the other taco trucks in Cbus (Los Guachos), Junior's doesn't really begin to compare. I came here the other night and had the al pastor and pollo tacos. The al pastor was mediocre and the pollo was downright dry. Overall, the quality of the tacos was just not that great. Aight, Junior's has for sure earned my business now. I went back to see if they'd gotten any fish in for the pescado tacos I've heard so much about. Finalmente, they had them! I ordered two with cilantro and cabbage, cheese and the normal fixins. When I went to pay with my credit card, they said there was a ten dollar minimum. I was like "hell, I only got two dollars, I guess I'll just take one." The guy working the counter said "are you sure? You can just come back and give us the other dollar." "Are you serious?" Pretty solid tacos. Not the absolute best I've ever had (those in were in Austin, TX), but good. Their credit card machine is almost always broken, so you need to use an ATM inside the nearby store to get cash ($1.50 fee) if needed. We stopped by Junior's tacos this weekend (again), and as always, he didn't disappoint. The tacos are amazing, and super authentic. Plus it only took five minutes to make. (If you are ordering a ton, call ahead.) Plus, did you know they cater?! A Cinco De Mayo party down the block wanted a delicious mexican caterer, and Junior came to the rescue. They have a second truck that moves around, and they drove right to the house, pulled up out front, and served tacos to all the guests. My last review was clearly written in a fit of rage. But really I come here all the time due to it's proximity to my apartment. The tacos and tortas are good. The burritos are ok. Maybe I'm just not a burrito person. Usually the wait times are under 10 minutes, but of course there is always the possibility of an insanely long unreasonable wait for 2 tacos. coming from the west coast, I can say there was a SERIOUS lack for quality mexican food in Columbus, OH for the longest time. your best bet was often finding acceptable "texmex" style food, or what I have come to loosely describe as "midwest mex" or, have no idea what "authentic" or even "illegal immigrant" mexican tastes like. I personally think Juniors is great for a few reasons. first off, and most important, ITS GOOD. granted the burritos are not the big mission style burritos like I am used to, or hope for, its still good. Personally I am hooked on the tacos, which is essentially what I get every time. I hear the torta's are great too (although this hardly seems like a "mexican dish") but who knows... the staff, especially the owner, are very friendly and laid back. to the point that on a number of occasions where I was not sure if I had enough cash on hand for my order, the owner will be the first to say, do not worry about it, pay me back next time... when examining that CRITICAL balance between the price point range, "ambience" (LAWLZ), acutal quality and taste, this place is pretty great. none of the riff raff you DONT need in a dining experience, just good ol food, and a totally reasonable price, and good folks too. columbus needs more eating spots like this HAIL THE TACO TRUCK! did I mention they are die hards when it comes to weather/holidays/etc and staying open? juniors is always there to fill my taco needs. I am exploring many other taco trucks in the area, some of which are also pretty comparable and good, but I always come back to juniors. spare yourself the crappy dine in experience and eat from the truck. its the economically viable way to go! ;) read more

I'm honestly not sure what all the good reviews are for. I finally got the chance to check out Junior's Tacos and I was disappointed. I ordered 3 tacos - chicken, al pastor, and chorizo. While they weren't inedible, they certainly weren't worth raving about. The flavors were pretty bland and the meat was dry. Juniors is becoming an atrocity of a food truck. From what it was 2 yrs ago, to now, is pathetic. I rarely, ever, find the talkative friendly "namesake" Junior. You will know immediately if you encounter him. You are more likely to encounter his brother, who is callous, unfriendly, and acts offended when you just ordered 15 bucks worth of food and demand more than one of each salsa. Christs sake. Also, I am all about ESL Mexicans fronting a restaurant, but if I have to repeat things 3 times, all while the aforementioned dick stands there acting like he doesn't know english. I asked for avocado. NO AVOCADO! Um. Okay, like was that offensive, or do you mean "we are out of avocado" (really? Mexican food truck and you are out of avocado, which happens often.) I preemptively tip before getting my food, they need to hook it up more. Also, I don't know who shattered your truck's window, but fix it. Not autoglass, since it doesn't move, but fix it. You look like you are taking every profit home and one day there will be a sign from Junior "thanks for all the cash!." Especially with a guy who says "NO AVOCADO" to a request of add avocado. My first Taco Truck trip was to Junior's last night. I was happy to see they were open at 9 on a Thursday and saw their hours were until 10PM. Score! It was the perfect meal for me and my boyfriend last nite after having Cocktails at the Conservatory, although, I am hoping and praying there are even better taco trucks out there! The service was friendly and the girl spoke english very well. That made me happy since I was nervous to try and speak spanish to native speakers. I hate to butcher someone's language. I'll have to bite that bullet at some point, but not yet. Anyway, we ordered at the window and they brought it out to us at the tables. How sweet!? On to the food: I ordered a chorizo and carnitas taco and a chorizo torta because I had never had a torta before. Turns out it's just a sandwich. It was good, but I thought it would have been more mexicany (made up word). The tacos were good, but nothing special to me. I felt they were over all bland. Same goes for the carne asada burrito my boyfriend ordered. Good, but bland. He used to live in CA and has been to lots of taco trucks and he said he'd had better, but we are in OH so, that goes into consideration. I liked the verde sauce on everything and used all my lime wedges. I didn't care for the hot sauce...it tasted funny like seeds, but it had a good heat to it. I thought the meat itself was of decent quality and flavor and I apprecitaed the flavor profile especially of the corn tortillas of the tacos. They cooked everything to order. I was very happy with the venue and meal overall and I want to try more trucks to find THE BEST. But, if I was around Victorian Village and wanted tacos, I'd definitely go to Junior's before Taco Bell or Mad Mex any day! I am sitting here looking at the remainder of my food and feeling sad on the inside. I have heard this place described as amazing, addictive, the best there is, ect ect. I am here to say its all untrue. This has to be the worst food I have eaten in a long time. My friends and I did the order a bunch of stuff see what you like. The soft taco shells are awful dry and taste like burnt corn. The chicken and steak are very very under seasoned and dry. The quesadilla was sort of OK because the shell wasn't dry and the onions were cooked well. This is about the nicest I can be. My friend who hates tomatoes ordered none and of course there they are. All of the sour cream was at the bottom of my burrito along with my 5 shreds of lettuce and 3 cubes of tomato. The burrito was so full of rice and beans that's the only thing that could be tasted. THIEVERY! The guy who took my order one $4.99 steak burrito today, took my $20 bill and gave me no change. As he stood there while the other guy made the burrito, I asked if I could have my change. He asked "what did I mean"? I explained "you know, the money you are supposed to give back to me, since I gave you a twenty and the burrito only cost $5.00". He smiled and aid "Oh, you gave me a $20?" His English was as good as mine. He handed me $15 - kind of laughing - and then I asked for my $5 and said that I didn't want the burrito anymore. He gave me the remaining five and I said "You shouldn't cheat a man who comes to buy your food" He was still snickering when I left. What a creep! I will never be back and I will tell everyone I can about it. It's too bad because the food I had there on two previous occasions was decent. I love Junior's. Actually, let me rephrase that. I used to love Junior's. I recently revisited this taco truck a few weeks ago and was completely disappointed. The chicken was dry, and the al pastor was a huge miss. It was like they didn't stir up what they keep it in and some of the meat was dried out and the other was sopping wet with the marinade and spice, it was hard to choke down and I LOVE spicy. Best taco truck in Columbus. The tacos and meats are so flavorful! Most tacos are $1.50 each (steak, chicken, pork, chorizo), but tongue and fish are $2. I've had all except the pork and chorizo, and they really hit the spot. They are garnished with cilantro and onions, and you can choose mild or spicy hot sauce. They also have sweet tortas on nice fluffy bread that soaks up all of the flavor. I went for the steak today ($6), and it was perfect. They also have regular sodas and Jarrito ($1.50)- it's the right complement to your meal at Junior's! read more

Finally satisfied my lengua craving since coming to Columbus. Had a lengua burrito and a few tamales and my fiancee had chicken tacos. It was like being back home in LA, except that it was snowy and freezing and really not anything like being back home in LA I guess. Well, I liked the tacos, but I haven't had anything else from here. The hot sauce was really good. They also have the cleanest/newest taco truck I've ever seen and a covered outdoor eating area. The little fella was friendly. I like their pollo taco better than Taqueria Davanne's across the street. Junior's wasn't as heavily spiced, but the chicken was more tender and juicy. read more
