But you have to be there early, before 9am on weekdays (maybe even earlier on weekends) to secure a bite of the hot commodities - chocolate croissant and raspberry almond croissant. Saint franks is my favorite coffee in San Francisco. So I was very happy to learn they were opening up a pop up just a block from my house. The coffee here is spectacular and the pastries are supplied by craftsman and wolves (another solid establishment) are on point. There is never a line here ( as the word hasn't gotten out about this place) unlike it's polk location a mile north. All things add up to make this my go to coffee spot in the neighborhood. Hope this place is here to stay permanently. read more

Absolutely wonderful coffee and pastries! I happened to driving in the area and saw this cute little place and went in on a whim, and I was totally impressed! From the masterminds of Saint Frank comes another gem! The coffee was delicious and their pastries are succulent. I tried their cappuccino, Juniper escargot and orange cake. The baristas were friendly and welcoming and atmosphere of the store was accommodating. If you haven't tried this place, you have to before the place starts having crazy lines. read more

Coffee: I ordered the sweet latte and matcha. Matcha was not good imo it had no sweetener at all, same with latte. It would have been okay if espresso shot would have been good but it was alright. All in all 2.5 /5 for coffee I didn't try the food/pastries but they looked fresh and nice! Ambience: very nice. Was able to work. Music was not too loud. Service: was on point read more

Great little cafe right by our hotel. The coffee is fantastic (and we'll be bringing some home with us). The croissants and various other pastries are delightful - so far I've tried a raspberry filled croissant, a chocolate filled one, a small muffin, and a choux, which I guess is sort of a tiny cookie-looking filled donut-y type of thing. Tried a pistachio vanilla rose latte too, which was delicious - if a little heavy on the pistachio. I may try one tomorrow with just rose - I think it would be great. I'm pretty picky about my coffee and this is really, really good. (see above, we're going to take some home with us). From what I understand, and I might be wrong, but I think they are just a single cafe that grew from the coffee brand they serve - Saint Frank brand. I guess the tl;dr version is - everything has been delicious, the service has been spectacular, the ambiance is good too! Kinda wish there was a little more seating, but eh, they seem to handle it ok. :) read more

BEST. Place. Ever. Let me start off by saying the second I turned the corner to Juniper, the line was out the door. But don't worry, it moved incredibly fast and I got served within a minute. The ambiance of Juniper were truly hard to beat. The second I saw the case full of fresh, fluffy pastries my mouth could not stop watering. Truly was a sight to see. The food itself was scrumptious, might I mention everything was so aesthetic and clean. I tried the bannana muffin, as well as the blueberry muffin; they were both perfectly moist and had the best light and fluffy texture. I also ordered a chocolate croissant which was THE BEST CROSSOINT I'VE EVER HAD. I also had an iced latte which satisfied my tastebuds perfectly. The coffee was smooth and tasty. If you are in the area, you must come to this café. It is by far the best in the area! I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

SOLID food!!! And very cute atmosphere. I'm from LA visiting and was craving something healthy and delicious for breakfast. If you want something fresh, light, and full of flavor I would suggest the avocado toast. Only point of contention is I wish the brioche slice was slightly less thick - the bread to topping ratio was about 3:1 and I prefer a 2:1. Taste was 9.3/10 excellent in my book. My wife had the egg sandwich which she also really enjoyed and rated about an 8/10. Her words "I usually like things that are really yolk-y but this was still a soft egg with great taste". I also got the black Cherry puff pastry - I don't usually buy puff pastries - but this was 9.5/10. It was a bit pricy but more of an experience puff so to speak. I really wanted to try this place after hearing that they won best croissant of the year. I had the plain croissant and the mushroom danish. Oh my word! They were both heavenly. The lamination of the plain croissant was on point. It was light and flakey in such a good way. I am not one who likes dense croissants where you feel weighed down after eating it. As for the mushroom danish it was well balanced. Not salty and just the right amount of richness. I would definitely come back again to try other sweet items. read more

The croissants may have won the best croissant in the city, but with customer service like I received this place it's floating by on its reputation. The owner was incredibly rude and was arrogant and snotty. I complained because no matter when I come here they are routinely sold out. Such bad management. The owner argued back with me when I said I was upset because I could never get a croissant, no matter how early came. Rather than arguing, she should've said. I am sorry we understand. I did not need to be yelled at even though she will claim that she didn't yell. Then one of her servers had the audacity to start screaming at me as well. I will never come back to this place. If you feel like you need to come here get a croissant, but just avoid any human contact with the servers who are incredibly badly trained. This is not what I expect when I pay six or seven dollars for. Not recommended. read more

I went to Juniper this morning right as they opened. The bakery is cute, the pastries looked great as well. I had seen online that there was a raspberry almond croissant but didn't see it out. I decided to ask if they had them today / if there was a time they'd be ready only to be met with a ton of backlash. In response the woman said "they'll be ready when they're ready" so I just said no worries and preceded to order 2 plain, 2 chocolate, and 2 banana muffins. Everything was mid at best, honestly I think I was thrown off by just the rudeness of the employees. It would have been nice just for her to say "I'm sorry I'm not sure" or something not as rude. I also saw this woman be mean to her coworkers when the danishes came out she yelled at them and said "do not serve these until I put the garnish on." She seemed under a lot of stress and I feel for her but creating that environment makes it toxic for everyone. read more

Wonderful new spot on Polk by the people who do Saint Frank Coffee. Obviously, the coffee is great, but the pastries are next level. The savory mushroom choux was unlike anything I've ever had before. Great service as well. I came on Wednesday morning ordered some breakfast at 8.10 am lady said food will take a couple minutes to make because restaurant just open I understand. 8.30 I checked on her she said line was long she couldn't make food for me. And more people keep coming but you have 2 servers not 1. I ended up received my food at 9 am seriously?!! Just 1 avocado toast takes almost an hour!!. She ended up offering me free pastry to solve the problem. I think you can do better!! read more

Very unfriendly service. I decided to check out Juniper since I love St. Franks so stopped by this morning. When I walked in, the woman behind the counter looked at me but didn't acknowledge me and proceeded to talk to the only guy ahead of me in the line who was already being helped by someone else behind the counter. I waited for a while for someone to help me even though there were four people behind the counter and only one other customer. When I was finally served, they swung the payment tablet around then walked off without saying thanks or have a good day. They then proceeded to greet another customer that had just come into the store in a very friendly manner and engaged him in a conversation. I don't like to draw conclusions from small samples but it did feel a bit off that the two customers they'd been very friendly to were white (and I am clearly not). Even if they were regular customers, it still doesn't feel right for them to have been so cold to me. It was a stark contrast to Swan Oyster, where I'd gone right before. Juniper is simple, clean and bright, and high quality. The coffee is excellent and the pastries are a delight - delicate, flavorful, and unique.
