After a bad experience with Spirit Delivery through Home Depot, we called Junk King for a same day refrigerator haul away. It was important for us to get the refrigerator out the same day since we were having guests stay the night and we have a small apartment. Instead of waiting for Home Depot to do it the next day for $15, we decided to go with Junk King same day haul away for $210. We told them it was for a fourth floor walk up apartment, and that it was a standard refrigerator. A team of two guys came, saw the refrigerator, and immediately started complaining, saying that the service manager described the refrigerator as being smaller. We let them know that we communicated it was a standard sized refrigerator from the very beginning. One of the men was uncomfortable and so they refused to remove it. They put me on the phone with the service manager Eric, who said that they wouldn't be able to remove it that day and that we'd have to wait until tomorrow when "two guys who could deal with a refrigerator would be working." I told him I had let them know it was a standard size refrigerator and that I wasn't sure why they sent two people who couldn't handle it. I also told him that I had already taken a day off work and that I couldn't take another, and that we would've gone with Home Depot for $15, but decided to go with them since it was time sensitive. Eric was rude and unhelpful, and we'll never use Junk King again. We wanted to give our business to a local company, but unfortunately they couldn't make it happen. read more

Worst experience ever!!! First of all, they booked it for the wrong day and didn't figure it out until the fifth time I called to ask where they were. They told me they could come the next day and gave me an estimate over the phone (I texted them a picture of the pile of junk on our front lawn). But they didn't pick it up because we couldn't answer the phone when they called to say they were on their way, even though I told them I would be on an airplane at the time they were supposed to come!!! When I called to ask what happened their sub contractor hung up on me! We almost lost our deposit on our apartment because of this!!! I had to get rid of a pool table within a day -- yikes! I called a bunch of places within Boston to see if they could service the pool table the next morning. Junk King gave me a quote within 20 minutes of my call and they were super nice and able to negotiate down a bit to fit my budget. The guys called me and said they would show up near the end of my two hour window, they called again later to let me know they were 5 minutes away. I showed them the pool table, 30 minutes later they were sweeping up any dust that was left after remove it. The room looked like as if it had never been there. Very clean and professional! We were exceedingly happy with how efficient and polite they were. They'd been having an issue at their office that they explained and were forthright and honest about, given that it impacted our service time. We rescheduled easily, and got a discount for the hassle. Having moved into a condo as a first time buyer we had a LOT of boxes and packing materials and the attic had construction debris for some reason-- they took it all. Super quick, hauled everything out despite the three flights of stairs and that the attic is ungodly hot when they got the construction debris out. So very pleased! Would absolutely hire again and recommend them to others. A little patience when anyone is having unavoidable problems goes a lot way to having an incredibly positive experience. read more

After reading the most recent reviews, I fear I may be living in the Twilight Zone or Bizarro World. Our experience with Junk King was astonishingly bad. Disclaimer for this review: I was not home when the guys showed up so this is not a firsthand account of the in-person stuff. I totally appreciate the online booking feature and immediately received a confirmation email. I scheduled pickup of a smaller stackable washer/dryer and dishwasher for the next day. My window was 10-12:00 and the guys called at 11:00am to say they would be at my apartment within 10-20 minutes. My father was home to meet them and called me 10 minutes after they arrived. I could tell he was holding back comments as he proceeded to tell me they wouldn't take the washing machine because, according to the junk guys, there was "a bunch of water in it" and they can't be responsible for leaking. My father questioned them 3x because he couldn't see or hear any water, but he was completely rebuffed. On top of that, when he wanted to call me to see what I wanted to do, they told him multiple times that they didn't have time to wait around because they were really busy. My landlord got involved and was told the same garbage, except this time the guys drove away from him. Another notch in the terrible service belt. I regret with all of my heart that I paid these jerks to take my dishwasher. I was charged $99 for one, not even full-sized dishwasher. Spoiler alert: I couldn't get the 30% online discount because it wasn't $100. And the washing machine? It was eventually moved by other people and low and behold there was MAYBE 1/4" of water in it. Thank goodness I didn't agree to have Junk King come back the following week to follow up. The two men audibly bickered as they carried the dishwasher outside and one of them smelled so bad, the odor lingered after they left. Junk King definitely made an already stressful situation more stressful and I won't be using them ever again. I would have had better luck hiring strangers off the street. I immediately submitted feedback of my experience (3 days ago) so we'll see if they offer up any type of apology, explanation, or defense. read more

I delayed a project because they had competitive prices and scheduled a dumpster drop-off according to their availability. They had no problem putting a hold on my credit card ahead of drop-off. They informed me the day before the drop-off was scheduled that they could not do it and did I want to cancel? Or I could possibly reschedule to the next week. Useless. I have used them for work in the past, and I've had good luck. So I figured I'd used them to get rid of a mattress at my place. I even brought it down two flights of stairs because, make it easier on them. They called when they were close by and they were no where no where near me. They were two towns over, but according to the navigation system, they were where they were supposed to be and weren't going to hear anything other than that. I canceled (I had an appointment to get to and wasted enough time already, and I had to bring the mattress back up.) and won't be using them again. Wish I could give no stars at all for this company. Similar to some other reviews I've seen here, I have to say this company is terrible! I got an automated confirmation saying that I was scheduled and ready to go. They'd call me 15-30minutes before my appointment to let me know when they'd arrive. Of course, no call. An hour after my schedule appointment I called them but it's a central calling center and they couldn't give me the contact info of the local Allston office. She had to call them for me and request that they call me back. Of course they didn't call me back so I called the help center again. I explained how inconvenienced I was and assured me they'd call me back. I never heard a god damn thing. I can't believe how inconsiderate and not customercentric the company is. I felt so disrespected and have told many people about my bad experience. I'm hoping to save all of you the trouble and waste of time. On the other hand, I ended up calling 1800-Got Junk. When they arrived to remove my item they let me know there would be an additional $30 fee. Due to time constraints I had no other option but to pay the additional fee.
