Another wonderful place where I will become a regular. I've dined in Junpuu twice. The 1st time I only tried the Gyoza which was delicious. This time I tried the Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, a 1/2 order Char Siu Quesadilla, Gyoza and for dessert Almond Tofu. Each dish hit the spot. The service was accommodating and quick. It's a small restaurant but it's got a great location situated between the Blaisdell center and the Honolulu Museum of Art. I'd recommend anyone give Junpuu a try.

Small ramen plane located on King St with a choice of good noodles. Noodles came out hot, variety of spice levels 1 and 2 are the most popular noodles cooked perfectly. They have limited parking.Always crowded.

It's been nine years since my last review, but not nine years since I've last eaten here. I just did not realize my review was so old. The place still exists which speaks volumes. The pricing has definitely changed though. I always get the vegetarian tantan which was $10.50 nine years ago. It is now $18.95. It's still very flavorful for a vegetarian broth. It's almost hard to believe as it's very rich and hearty. I also love that they have actually added a real mix of vegetables such as kambucha, eggplant, spinach, bell pepper, zucchini and not just the standard cabbage, corn or bean sprouts like other places. I got spice level three which was just right. The mister got the regular tan tan with spice level five. He said any higher and it would not be doable lol. The kid had the miso and ate it all up. I love that this place still exists and we'll keep coming back.

TL;DR Good, but not great, ramen. ----- I'm a little surprised by the current 4.5 rating for Junpuu. It's a solid ramen spot, but there is stark competition in the Honolulu ramen space, and I'm not sure if Junpuu is quite S-tier. I arrived on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and was able to find street parking right outside the entrance. There's validated parking for the building as well. I ordered the Potato Salad, Gyoza, and Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, all of which were satisfactory but not standout. My only direct knock is that my ramen dish did not come with an ajitama by default; I had to order one ala carte. That's unfortunate. While the food was relatively good, I don't see myself returning to Junpuu when there are so many great other options nearby.

Haven't been to Juupuu in a while, and my partner had never been before, so it felt like the perfect spot to bring him since he's a total noodle head. Also just found out they have parking in the back!!! Every other time I've come here I've been street parking, so that was a nice surprise. We ordered a few of my favorites: the spicy cheese gyoza and the tomato ramen with the special (egg and extra chashu). My other half went with the spicy tonkotsu with the special as well and added extra noodles. Everything came out hot and flavorful, and it definitely hit the spot. The spicy cheese gyoza is always a must for me...crispy, savory, with just the right kick. The tomato ramen is rich and comforting, and the extra chashu makes it even better. My partner really enjoyed the spicy tonkotsu too; the broth had a nice depth and the noodles were perfect. Service was great and the ambience is super chill. It's very low-key and simple, which is something I really appreciate, especially after a long day when you just want good food in a relaxed spot.

Hard to find based off the address, stay on the street and it is in the corner on the main road. The directions on here take you to a paid parking lot. The restaurant is small, but plenty of additional training outside. The menu is simple and the are quick to serve you. I took my food to go, not sure what the presentation would have been eating inside. Once back, the chicken was still crunchy and soup hot. The Karaage Chicken was a 5, it came with a small side of salt which it did not need. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was a 4, very favorable but noodles could have been cooked longer and toppings were minimal. I will be going back and highly recommend stopping by and trying them out.

The food is good here! You have about 2-4 servers waiting on you. Free drink refills are a plus. The place is rather small so there's outside seating. It's fine but I'd rather sit inside. All in all I still very much like the place.

Excellent ramen! On an island full of ramen restaurants, Junpuu delivers. Their broths are all unique and delicious. The original chicken is a chicken soup like you've never dreamed of - not a paitan, but not a bland clear broth either. I honestly don't know how they married light and rich but I want more of it. The garlic tonkotsu is a great version of self. But then the miso ramen is so different - so much richer and chock full of umami. I also love that their noodles are the squiggly yellow ones and not the white thin ones (personal preference), and they have great chew. If that not enough, their gyoza are fresh, also unique, and delicious. We ordered the level 1 hot sauce on the side for an extra $1. Total was $75 after tip for three soups and gyozas and we had soup to take home. Service can be a bit slow, as they are busy, but very courteous and friendly, and food is worth the wait.

Junpuu offers a variety of delicious ramen options. From the rich tonkotsu ramen to the lighter vegan tantanmen options. The potato chips are crispy and freshly made. We get the potato chips with no salt which is great. I would recommend Junpuu for some yummy ramen

If you're looking for a solid ramen spot, you should try Junpuu Ramen. If you go on a weekday evening, you'll probably luck out with no wait, which already feels like a win. Parking is also super easy (especially for town), so that's a big plus right away. Service is quick, and the menu has a good variety without being overwhelming. You can tell they really focus on their ramen. The ramen itself comes out piping hot and is super savory and flavorful. It's the kind of meal you'll want when you're feeling a little under the weather or just craving something cozy. It also makes for a really cute, casual date spot. Also worth noting--if you're gluten-free, they actually offer gluten-free ramen, which is pretty uncommon. It was so nice to finally be able to enjoy ramen again. There is an extra charge for it, but that's pretty typical for gluten-free options. Prices are reasonable overall, and bonus--you're close to some great dessert spots if you want to keep the night going. Overall, it's definitely worth checking out :) Yours truly, RARA Reviews

Haven't had a chance to try this place til now because we found out there's parking in the back. Always thought I had to find street parking so didn't bother to try it. The food is on par with legit ramen places and the highlight of the night was their gyoza. The food was really good overall. Service was excellent, would say tho is the only restaurant that offered us additional napkins, in which convinced me to get them the full 5 stars. The restaurant is fairly big because they utilized the lanai as dining as well. Would recommend sitting outside like we did, it's cool and feels pretty private with the dark lighting.

We've only ordered take out from here. The restaurant is very small. The garlic gyoza was weird to us we didn't think it would be a bunch of garlic pieces on top of it so we got the regular gyoza the 2nd time we went. I think I liked the takoyaki I can't remember but it was 5 pcs. The tonkotsu broth is really rich. Loved it both times.

Ramen views... Came here in then past with a friend who is vegan and she knew they had quite a few vegan choices and just needed a revisit since it's been awhile and what a difference this location has come to. Junpuu is located in the Medical Art Building a place of my childhood doctor that I came here on the regular which now is long gone along with many other places is now home to Junpuu. What's nice is that they have do have parking in the back access on Young Street and a direct access as well to the restaurant from the parking lot is nice. You need to check in with a staff and this tiny spot is very small in face all indoor seating was filled so I gladly took a table outside on the terrace which I do prefer as it's less cramp and gave more personal space and each table is a high to so your'e string on a stool but each table has a shelf for your personal items is very nice and convenient so that you're able to enjoy your meal with ease. The staff was nice as I chose a table she followed with water and menu and returned for my order which was "Yuzu Chicken Ramen" which was a nice and light soup though as a yuzu lover it was just the right refreshing flavor with noodles cooked just right. I also had to give their gyoza a try, an order of regular comes with 5 pieces and was one of the best cooked gyoza with the crispy pan-seared bottom it almost had the crispy crunch though I think they were quite cheap with the sauce as they had no condiments on the table it felt as if you're to enjoy it as is which I did and did enjoy the price as well. Thank you!

Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen and Garlic Gyoza. How's that garlic???? I dump the extra into my ramen.

My wife and I were just as impressed with our Spicy Tonkatsu and regular Tonkatsu bowls. The broth was remarkably rich and packed with complex flavors, while the chashu was a savory burst in every single bite. I live right near Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and have very high standards for what makes a good bowl of ramen, so I was honestly blown away by the quality here. The kids were so into the food that we even decided to grab an order of chicken karaage to go. The service was exceptionally attentive and the staff went out of their way to ensure our family had everything we needed. The ambiance was also fantastic and added to the overall experience. Regarding parking, it can be tough in Waikiki, but we found a convenient public garage right next to the hotel where the restaurant is located. This spot is a must-visit for anyone looking for top-tier ramen in Honolulu.

We got the Tan Tan and the seafood . The Tan Tan had a rich creamy broth with a little spice to it, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The seafood udon was really comforting and flavorful, with fresh seafood and broth wasn't too heavy. Portions were pretty big too. Service was great the whole time. Staff was friendly, attentive, and checked in on us often even during the dinner rush. Definitely one of the better spots we tried in Waikiki.

With this much food, your entire party could share a full meal and still be satisfied with the diverse menu options that are offered. Located on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, along the busy corridor of Kalakaua Avenue, this is the second stateside location of TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie after successfully opening in the heart of New York City. Originally founded in Osaka, Japan, TsuruTonTan specializes in authentic handmade udon, where the noodles themselves take center stage. Their goal is to have each bowl thoughtfully crafted and topped with a wide variety of ingredients, from aromatic bonito flakes and savory kombu kelp to locally sourced vegetables and meats, all carefully selected to complement the restaurant's high-quality noodles. The name TsuruTonTan draws inspiration from the sounds associated with the art of udon making. In Japanese, "Tsuru" represents the sound of slurping noodles, "Ton" evokes the kneading and shaping of the dough, and "Tan" signifies the cutting of the noodles. Together, these three sounds embody the spirit of TsuruTonTan and its dedication to the craft of handmade udon. What drew me into this location, with plenty of options surrounding them was TsuruTonTan's Special Dinner Set, which for a reasonable $38 diners would received no fewer than six menu items starting with their house salad which was fresh arugula lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and a vinaigrette and a small sampling of their Edamame. You also get a choice of Appetizer between chicken, tofu and shrimp tempura, of which I selected their Chicken Karaage. Then for your entrée, diners have the choice between six udons to select from, from your traditional soup based udons to one that particularly stood out to me, their Truffle Cream Udon, so I knew that I was going to order this menu item. As if that wasn't enough food, diners get to order one sushi roll that they handcraft here at TsuruTonTan and I selected their Sunfire Roll, which had a shrimp tempura mixed with cucumber, avocado and topped with spicy tuna. And then, for your final course, diners get to enjoy a scoop of ice cream, of which on this day our only option was rainbow sherbet. The first four courses to be presented to my table were the salad, edamame, Chicken Karaage, and my four slices of the Sunfire Roll. These four entrées probably would have been enough food and I would have been satisfied with my meal overall. The Chicken Karaage were five deep-fried nugget pieces served with lemon and piping hot upon served and the Sunfire Roll was a nice combination of sushi roll flavors. Then came my Truffle Cream Udon, which was topped with balls of crab meat, sliced truffle mushrooms, and shaved parmesan cheese. Creamy and cheesy goodness, this entrée was a hearty and heavy dish that combined the flavors of both Japan and Italy thanks to the heartiness of the udon noodles. The ice cream scoop was a nice touch to end what was already a filling meal. I really enjoyed my meal at TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie with so many menu items to choose from it seems overwhelming. Thankfully they have a number of popular and recommended menu items that any visitor looking for a good meal can choose from. The $38 dinner set created specifically for Hawaii diners, which includes a spicy udon soup and a garlic shrimp rice dish, has already piqued my interest and given me a reason to return. And return I will, as long as the service, prices, and food remain as consistently strong as they are at TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie. Offering elevated comfort food that seamlessly bridges cultures and culinary traditions, it stands out as a unique dining destination well worth revisiting.
