I really liked the variety and being able to order sides or small dishes. The mung bean soup is delicious and served chilled. They do give free refills. This was my first time trying it, and 10/10 would order again. Mini hot and sour wonton: first time trying and won't be my last. 10/10 Beef pancakes were good, slightly different from Mian and Bao, and delicious. Ice Jelly: good cooling dessert. Not too sweet. Perfect finisher for all the spicy food. Pickled sides: I really loved the spicy back fungus. My mom was really craving a nice bowl of Chinese style noodles and have been talking my ear off about it, so when we got the chance to go out, I recommended to visit Mian. My younger brother has visited this spot several times and always raves about how solid their noodles are. This spot looks unseeming on the outside but is very nicely culturally decorated within. I forgot to take any pictures but I really liked the decorations they had within. The place has less human interaction than typical restaurants. You seat yourself upon arrival and then scan a QR code to order your meal. They then serve you water, the dishware, and food once its ready. My mom got the tomato beef stew noodles and I got the house beef noodles. We also got the house pancake beef rolls to share (but I almost ate the whole thing). The pancake was so good, the crispy pancake had the best texture ever (similar to scallion pancakes) and the beef and sauce was good. I would say it was a little less substantial than I would've liked, very minimal pieces of beef and cucumbers. 8.6/10, would've been 10/10 if there was just a bit more "stuff" within the pancake. My mom liked her tomato beef soup, it had a nice acidity & tang to it from the tomatoes and it was slightly spicy as well. I hope that the owner sees this: the food has gone down hill at Mian. The noodles and sauce don't taste good anymore, the dumplings don't taste high quality. It just seems like things have changed and there's not the same love behind the food that there used to be. the past three or four times we've eaten here we just keep saying we're never gonna come back here anymore. It's super disappointing because we really loved this place and we hope that they can get their old cook back or find their inspiration again.. This is a no-frill type of spot, order through the QR codes on your table and the food comes out fairly quickly. House beef noodle soup: we ordered it regular spicy, with their homemade noodles with an extra free side of noodles! The beef in this soup was braised so beautifully that it was falling apart. The first couple of sips of the soup was a tad bit spicy but that spice becomes addicting after a few bites. Chili oil wontons: Be sure to mix this dish up well, with all of the chili oil sauce at the bottom of the bowl-- it's best when you can get a nice even coating of sauce. Soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao): I don't think Mian is known for their Xiao Long Bao-- and XLB is one of those things that takes a lot of finesse to do well. It was okay but really on par with a good frozen microwavable XLB. Beef pancake rolls: one of my favorite bites of the whole meal! Scallion pancake rolled up with marinated beef, cucumbers and salty sweet sauce. Highly recommend! Parking can be a bit tough here, there's a small lot attached that fills up quickly. Their house made noodles are very good and you can get an extra side portion for free, which we always do and then take it home for a second meal. However, this place struggles with service. All the ordering and paying is done online, and as a result, they don't hire enough staff. When we went it was extremely busy with people waiting and only one busboy. He was filling waters, taking orders to tables, helping older people check out, giving out takeout containers, and wiping down tables - it was way too much for one person! One couple even came in, was confused because there was no one to direct them to a table, sat down, and got up and left after about two minutes because no one helped them. A genuinely good option for noodles! This restaurant is located on the first floor of a plaza on Cedar and Rycroft Street. Parking can be a bit difficult -- there are a handful of spots in the private lot for the plaza (first hour is free) and some street parking if you're able to nab a spot. If you speak Chinese, you'll probably get the attention of the servers more quickly, but otherwise you might have to go to the front counter to get seated since the staff is sometimes in the back. You place an order on your phone by scanning the QR code at the table and browsing the menu there. I got the house beef noodle soup, chili oil chao shou, and XLBs, which all came out promptly. The noodle soup was my favorite; the noodles were chewy and fresh, and the broth was tasty with a perfect level of spice (at the "little spicy" option)! The only downside was that the meat was a bit chewy/tough. The chili oil chao shou left a lot to be desired, as there wasn't any ginger/green onion/etc in the filling, so the pork flavor was a bit overpowering compared to the sauce. Chendu zajiang noodles- 5/10; I love the texture of the noodles but am not sure the peanut sauce was for me Pork dumplings- 8/10; My favorite dish that I ordered. The sauce that it came with was delicious, didn't expect it to have a sweet flavor. Pancake beef roll- 6/10; I never tried this anywhere else so it's hard for me to have a comparison. House fried chicken-7.5/10; Never thought I would order fried chicken at a noodle place but it was very crispy and tasty. My sisters loved it. I think the IG of this business is a little misleading. Maybe they have more than one location? However the IG says they serve Bao, however this location does not. We had already ordered a few things so we decided to stay to try what we orders. I will say that the small bone broth dumplings were super tasty which was odd since the broth was so bland lol. I don't think I can give this place a fair review since I only had a few appetizers on the menu and them not serving Bao as advertised on their social media. I like the food at Chengdu Taste so decided to try this sister restaurant that focuses on noodles. It is located on the ground floor, west side of the 808 Center. Inside is fun and nicer than you'd expect from the outside. Ordering is like at Chengdu Taste we're you scan a QR code, you order via your phone and they bring you the food. Paying is also through this online method. I got the House Beef Noodles which you can choose how spicy it is, firmness of the noodles and if you want more noodles for free! Since it was my first time I got the recommended (normal) firmness of noodles and spice level. If you want the free noodles, they come in a separate small bowl to add later. The noodles had a nice chewiness to them while being firm. The beef did have some fat or tendon on them just as a warning if that bothers you. The Sichuan chili peppers add a nice amount of heat to the soup. We also got the pork dumplings which were meaty and surprisingly had a sweet sauce. They were nice to counter the spiciness of the noodle soup. There were a good amount of dumplings for the price. Mian is good to go to as a solo diner or a small group while Chengdu Taste is good for a larger group and sharing food family style. It is nice to be able to eat a different type of Chinese food than the more common Cantonese food in Hawaii. The only downside to the restaurant is parking can be a challenge. read more

I always come here for the spicy pork dumplings. They have such a good spicy sweet taste. That and then the beef roll. I'm a sucker for green onion pancakes and this one is always crispy with the beef packed inside. Last time it was a little too charred but still good nonetheless. The great thing when you get the pork wontons to go is they separate the sauce from the dumplings so they stay fresh longer and if you don't finish them that day. The soups are good too and the noodles, apparently this is by the same owner as the upstairs restaurant but mian has more of a focus on noodles where upstairs is about the meats. I always find it funny that a non-spicy eating friend is the first one that showed me Mian. read more
