Definitely recommend. I recently had the beef bone broth with beef noodle soup with the pork and chive dumplings. Soup broth was tasty, but I was glad to have the side of chili oil to make things more interesting. Beef was well flavored and tender. Knife noodles were plentiful and absorbed broth well. Also tried the pork and chive dumplings-- definitely get the peanut sauce and chili oil to pair up a spicy little combo. Ingredients seemed fresh and high quality. Definitely needed to heat up the broth when I got home because it arrived in the cooler temperatures but very much still great. Service was prompt and friendly. Items were packaged well. I came here for lunch with some friends and we had an overall good time. The space has lots of seating and you order in a line, item by item to build your bowl. I got a salad with tomato egg sauce, BBQ chicken, cucumber, red cabbage, bok choy, and cilantro, green onion, and mandarins as garnishes. If we show our student ID, we get a 5% discount with a coupon card. The server also told me that if we ordered online, it would be 10% off. Service was really nice! Its definitely not something I would put in fast-food esque category, but higher tier than chipotle as a comparison. I opted for a build your own, and felt that the meal was satisfying, tasty, and flavorful. The portion size was great, and the ingredients were great quality. (You must try the ginger scallion sauce) I will say that it was a bit difficult to pick which noodle to start with, but they all seem great and no bad choice could be made. The reason why I wanted to come here was because I'm a big fan of Lucas Sin, one of Junzi Kitchen's co-founders. If you've never heard of him and are interested in learning the history of Hong Kong cuisine and what "authentic" Chinese food is (plus admire the creativity he brings in his cooking), then you have to check out his Youtube videos, in which he drops some serious knowledge. I hadn't heard of the other co-founders (they are displayed on an informational frame inside the restaurant), but I'm definitely going to look them up now. What I really wanted to try at Junzi Kitchen was the tomato egg drop noodles, because it's a twist on a childhood comfort food. My order was a custom noodle bowl ($14.49) -- Cantonese BBQ chicken, spring (thin) noodles, tomato egg drop sauce, bean sprouts, cucumber, spicy pickled chayote, scallions, cilantro, crispy shallots. Thoughts on individual elements: the BBQ chicken was fantastic. They used good pieces of chicken and were generous with the portion. Cucumbers, bean sprouts, and the pickled chayote added the freshness. I regretted not choosing hand-cut thick noodles, but changed my mind after trying the thin noodles -- they were al dente and the sauce clung to them very well. The fried shallots and cilantro were a perfect garnish. In my opinion, the shining star of the bowl was the tomato egg drop sauce. It had a mellowness that harmonized the rest of the elements. With my first bite, I felt transported. The flavor hinted more of baked tomato pork chop rice, one of my favorite Hong Kong western-style dishes, than the tomato egg I was expecting, but I was really impressed nevertheless. read more

I can't believe it took quarantine for me to finally write a review of Junzi Kitchen! This spot has been my go-to lunch spot for the past two years, ever since it opened. My favorite combos: - knife noodles (they are the absolute best noodles I've ever gotten from a chipotle-esque restaurant) - oyster mushrooms - a bunch of other toppings including sprouts and Buddha's palm if they have it - tofu or the beef or the chicken. They're all good - sweet bei sauce on the side Throw this in a whole wheat roll too if you like. Then add their addictive chili sauce to the mix and you're in lunch heaven. The presentation is very modern with an aesthetic appeal. You can custom make your bowl, salad and wraps. However I really like their Vegan Garlic Chili Mushroom Wrap and their Firecracker Chicken Millet Rice bowl. They're very flavorful with every bite. They also have tea on tap. I like their jasmine tea... it's so soothing, followed by their oolong tea. I came to junbi to try their noodles and I loved it. It's in nyc near Columbia univ. It's owned by 2 Chinese students who wanted to share Chinese cuisine to thr world. I got a customized bowl with beef ,knife cut noodles, hot sesame sauce , and chili oil. It was soo good. Each bowl was around $15. I would def come back to try their other noodles.
