When I picked up my online order today, the waitress gave me a look and said "you're welcome" after she gave me the bag just because I did not know there is no need to show the confirmation email. You know that kind of "you are welcome". I don't think I deserve this because of being confused for 5 second. The food part wasn't great either. The sauce was not stirred properly. I got all the noodles stuck together like a dough. I would not recommend online ordering as it is not very trustable. Ordered a Custom noodle bowl via Postmates. It's really exciting to see a Chinese restaurant with Chipotle like setup and great aesthetic. I loved everything except for the noodle, it was clumpy and overcooked, probably due to the fact it was simmered further during the delivery process. I really like the wide selection of fresh healthy toppings, and you can add as many as you want! My favorite was the cauliflower. I ordered beef as my protein, super tender and well seasoned, delicious! Price is extremely reasonable considering you can choose many toppings and garnishes. I was compelled to try this place on my way back from work as I heard great things about their noodle bowl. So I decided to indulge and get a customized noodle bowl so I can inquire and learn about the different ingredients that they offer. I went on their website and I learned quite a bit about several of the ingredients and their significance in Chinese culture, such as the white yam, red cabbage and cauliflower. I ended up getting all of those ingredients in my bowl and more! First, I was thoroughly impressed by the interior of the restaurant and the simplicity in ordering! The glass where you order has stickers printed explaining every ingredient offered as you proceed. Second, the bowl size and food amount was decent, pretty much what I expected. Came here around 11:30PM, there aren't many restaurants open at late night around the neighborhood. So it's always nice to have a spot like this that you can come and grab a late night bite. For February, they don't use regular menu, they are offering special menue everynight, so that's interesting. We ordered crispy tofu, mala instant noodles, and fries. They all very good, especially the mala instant noodles if you are into mala flavor. The noodle is not necessarily spicy but it definitely has the num flavor in it. The tofu was really delicious, I add the chilli sauce with it when I eat the tofu. I love the chili sauce they have, it's so good and authentic. When we were there, there were a lot students from Columbia, so it's kinda loud, if you are looking for somewhere quiet to chat, this might not be the best place. But it's definitely the perfect place to come for a quick bite at late night But the food is definitely good, and the price is cheap too. read more

This place is best example of taste meets affordability. Is it cheap? Yes. Are the portions good? YES. Is it authentic? No, but it's good enough for me (I'm a Chinese immigrant) and certainly better than any Chinese take out. You basically order a noodle bowl or a Bing (Beijing crepe) and choose your fillings. They have lots of meat and veggie options and what I like most is that you can have unlimited toppings. The meat was nicely seasoned and lots of sauces to choose from. I had heard good things about this place, and my spirits were high as I walked in. I explained my general food preference, and the young lady behind the counter suggested the Jaja noodle bowl. Noodles, bean sprouts, cucumber, chive ash, braised beef shank. When I got home I was surprised how little there was--for $12.50. The star attraction, the beef, was little more than gristle. It was shocking. If I hadn't been so tired I would have gone back and complained. I understand that dishes at new restaurants aren't always what you expect. But I did expect that for this price there would be more to eat, and that it would all be edible. I must add that the people were friendly. It's a welcoming place. But the dish was quite bad. Junzi Kitchen is a winner in my book! Think chipotle but with noodles or chun bing in place of burrito bowls and burritos- it's fast, healthy, customizable, modern Chinese food for the masses. I was feeling noodles on my first visit- you can choose between normal straight noodles or knife cut style noodles. I went with the knife cut style and didn't look back- you can choose your protein which ranges from the typical chicken, pork, beef to tofu and other vegetarian options. Then there are sauces like jiajia, teriyaki and more. There was an abundance of toppings to choose from - from traditional Chinese scallions and chive ash to more modern fare like kale. I thoroughly enjoyed topping my noodles to the brim, and customizing it to my delight - but I think next time I would choose the preset flavors for a more cohesive meal. This is my go to place for lunch given that I work right around the corner. They sell a variety of noodle bowls and bins, both delicious but the bowls are my favorite because the portions are big. You get to choose your noodle type (my favorite is the spring noodles), sauce (the chili one is awesome if you're into spicy food), and toppings which I believe are unlimited and change periodically. A bowl usually comes out to about $12-$13 but its worth it. The bings are a little cheaper but I don't think they're as filling. There's usually a line around lunch time but the staff moves pretty quick. Def. a solid choice for a semi-healthy meal if you're around the area. read more

【review by 'real' Chinese】As a Chinese who was born and raised in China, I feel very happy to see that we have such a creative and modern Chinese restaurant with a good concept that caters to many westerners. The first time I went to this restaurant I felt really excited because it looks a bit like the canteen in my university back in China and I really haven't seen sliced potatoes or garlic chips for quite a while!! (And they have vita chamomile tea and 浪味仙！！！) But I have to say the food tastes a bit weird ... Although all the elements are Chinese, the noodles, toppings or sauces, when they comes into the same bowl,,, I have to admit that it gives me a strange taste that I have never experienced in China before lol. It's like a totally new "Chinese food flavor" that is invented by this restaurant. Although I'm not that good at cooking, thinking about how the chefs in my Chinese university made noodles, I think it might be because at Junzi, they use "just water" to boil the noodles and simply add sauces to it, which makes it weird (to Chinese people). I think even for dry noodles, it's very important to use delicious soup to first boil the noodles so it's more tasty. What makes me like this restaurant is that the staffs here are very friendly. I remember the first time I went to Sweet green (just across the road) when I had no idea how to order there, the staffs were a bit rude and treated me as an idiot. I think maybe westerners will like the food here while many Chinese students will end up getting food from the food carts out there again. I hope the restaurant can read my post and think about how they can make real Chinese food. It's not that difficult I think. But maybe at the beginning they plan to make Americanized Chinese food to better operate the restaurant. So nice to have an authentic Chinese noodle bar in this area. I got a take out custom bowl with tofu. The jaja sauce is incredibly flavorful with a rich umami taste. The pickled daikon and cucumber added some lovely freshness and I topped off my bowl with chive ash, scallions and chilli oil. The chilli oil is quite hot so only get it if you can handle the heat! My one problem was that the servers were a bit impatient - especially for a first time customer it can take a little while to understand/ decide what combinations they want. read more

I'm not sure if they use organic ingredients either as did not see that listed. I was disappointed as do not have options readily available for people with celiac. They told me they could make rice noodles but it would take 25 minutes. That would mean I couldn't eat with my family? Anyway, wish they would become more celiac friendly and list gluten free items on their menu. Happy with the Owner's response. That type of customer service deserves 5 stars. Awesome fast casual bridging the western and eastern culinary gap. Noodles are pretty good, but the real star here is the "bings" (not sure why everyone gets noodles). Garlic chili sauce is a must do, any meat, get all the vegetables. Junzi is a solid new establishment super close to campus, and has made it into my weekly rotation multiple times. BOMB.COM , even during COVID this restaurant has been able to keep up with the great food and most importantly great customer service!! These are some of my favorite noodles to get uptown and some my of my favorite people too! I really like how simple it is to get something vegetarian and still really tasty. Really wanted to like this place as Morningside heights is really lacking in fast casual spots. CleAn look inside, similar menu to a the build your own healthyish spots out there where you pick a noodle type or Chinese burrito type shell and then get fillers and sauce. I would call it 'clean' Chinese. It tasted just fine. The sauces didn't really taste Chinese and they weren't something I'd ever crave again. Service was great, everyone was greeted by "ma'am or sir" staff was professional and friendly. Im giving 3 stars because its very expensive for a small portion and its not all that, id rate the taste 6/10 The bowl was $11+ for a 5/10 rating for flavor. The restroom is clean but be carefull the flush is super strong!!! It could splash UP ON YOU I love their high chair, its sooooo fancy. It has cushion and well made. Generally, its an ok place. Wanted to try a new place, thus I stumbled upon Junzi Kitchen. A clean and bright place, it definitely has a friendly vibe going, a place that I personally feel is nice to hang out with friends at. It is also about a block or two away from the 116th St. - Columbia University stop. I ended up getting a noodle bowl with jaja beef (following one of the chef's recommendations provided on one of the panels). I also got lychee juice, and definitely have to say that the food tastes fresh and light, and the juice nicely complements the meal. I just grabbed lunch from here for the first time. Always good to see a little variety coming into the area. I really appreciated the clearly marked ingredients, especially the vegan ones, as I was a little concerned about fish sauce showing up somewhere in my food, as is common with Asian dishes. All the employees seemed friendly, if a little stressed (it's the lunch rush, I totally get it!). I got a spring noodle bowl with tofu, sesame sauce, bean sprouts, daikon, and kale with chili oil on the side. The oil was amazing but it did make my ears pop! I felt slightly stuffed after eating it, even though it didn't look like that much food in the bowl. It's more than enough for a good, healthy(ish) lunch. Next time I'll be sure to try a bing and mix it up with the ingredients a bit. read more
