There are some little places in Winthrop that punch above their weight and Jupiter is one. Note their hours on the website. Seems they are closed Sunday and Monday now. It's Tuesday. We went for dinner after a 10k hike. Oh my god. I'm still writing the review with endorphins flowing. Just tucked into a Korean Combo and I've never had tempeh as good as this. Smoked and unbelievably delicious. The whole bowl is an umami bomb with a poached egg and what seems to be home made kimchi. I walked in looking forward to this food. I'm leaving with a goofy grin slapped across my face drunk on hot sauce and a nice Black Raven Trickster IPA. Great work Jovians! read more

Jupiter is a sort of counter-culture place where you order from the counter and eat either inside or outside on the large deck. We chose to eat inside because the band on the deck was so loud. We were there on an unusually hot day and we were disappointed that there is no detectable air conditioning and no ice in the water urn. The menu is interesting to say the least. I had a Japanese style noodle dish that really tasted good. My wife had pulled barbecued pork over waffle fries. She liked it. There is a case with pastries and we had some shortbread cookies and a piece of Irish Cream coffee cake. There really is nothing wrong with Jupiter but next time I think we'll try another place. read more

This place is an absolute must-try and must return again and again. We landed here on the most gorgeous fall day and dining on the outdoor deck felt like we were in a treehouse. Inside we were greeted by the friendliest guy who suggested we try the Peanut Yakisoba Noodles. THEY WERE AMAZING! Veggies cooked perfectly, sauce was divine. We also got tbe Naan Tacos-YUM. Perfectly balanced flavors and textures. We grabbed a chocolate chip shortbread, peach scone, and cappuccino for the road and they were all just as fantastic.Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Such a great quirky restaurant! In a treehouse. We brought our well behaved dog and sat out on the deck and had a wonderful lunch. The food was great and healthy! Picture this: 90 degree weather, long wait times everywhere, and general American duner/bar food everywhere. And then Jupiter, thank you for being here. First time in Winthrop and was looking for a few places to eat that had vegan options. This place did not disappoint. No lines, great patio, great selection of salads and entrees, and Drinks, Good music, but still 90 degrees. I got the jackfruit pulled sandwich, the ultimate combo and the Jupiter salad. All so good. The star (celestial pun) of the show was the Eggplant Moju. So good, someone in my party loved it, and they hate eggplant. So good, it needed its own paragraph. Honestly, by far the best restaurant in town. What more can I say, other than trust my word, or try it yourself. I only wished they had a location in Seattle :) read more

My three ski friends and I were staying at Rio Vista and in need of dinner on a Wednesday in December after a good day of skiing. On the ground floor of the defunct Duck Brand Hotel we found this nice informal place. It has thoughtfully prepared dishes with quality ingredients in reasonable portions and fair prices. The waitress told me the menu changes frequently. On my visit I had the excellent "naan" tacos with pulled pork, while my friends had Korean fried rice, pulled pork sandwich and a community bowl. All very fresh and delicious. It's a good addition to the small selection of restaurants along Winthrop's Main Street. read more

Stopped in looking for the Mexican Place but found they had closed and Jupiter opened. As of Feb 11, 2022, they were partially opened; Food and atmosphere were fantastic! The food is Sri Lanken, with mostly vegetarian menu with some meat options. We had rice bowls that were really yummy! We were blown away when we told the BBQ pulled pork we were eating was actually Jack Fruit. The eggplant with chutney was killer- and we don't like eggplant! Neat place, kinda hidden from the road. Beautiful deck dining space. The bowls were sooooo good! The only thing is they a too big. Easily split between two people and you would still get a full meal. An amazing spot in Winthrop that offers fresh options that aren't just the standard 'burger fare'. My husband and I had the chicken tinga naan tacos and I had the beta bowl with pulled pork - both were AMAZING and fresh and delicious. We also stopped for coffee in the morning and the americano and chai tea latte were fantastic. The staff were also so sweet and the seating area was beautiful. Delicous food, and fantastic service. We throughly enjoyed our experience here. This place suited the needs of our whole family. Some of us have dietary restrictions and we were happy that food could come dairy and gluten free. We were visiting from out of town and and I kid you not ate here 4 days in a row. I usually only write reviews for restaurants that I really like that need the boost of a good review, but I made an exception in this case. The day was beautiful. The Jupiter was open when our usual restaurant was closed due to a power outage--we were thrilled. The food was fresh and well prepared--but horribly bland. The surroundings were pleasant except for the many trucks with loud mufflers roaring by. We were a little surprised that the poached eggs were served with runny yolks, but since we do not usually order poached eggs, perhaps this is the standard. We did not expect this since most places that serve eggs do not serve the yolks runny due to salmonella, but we did not complain. Unfortunately, the woman at the register was exceptionally cold and haughty. When I first went to the register I asked if they served breakfast other than sweets; she said yes, but you have to wait 25 minutes--not a hint of a smile or sympathy that I had to wait--perhaps she was used to complaints about this. We were happy to wait--no complaints. We ordered coffee and waited. When it was time that we could order a full breakfast, we did. I then asked if we could get refills on our coffee--she said no. No sympathetic smile, no empathy--just what felt like I was bothering her with my presence. I have no idea what was going on with her. Perhaps I was not dressed correctly, perhaps she was having a bad day. Everyone else there seemed to be enjoying themselves. I will not be going back due to the experience of a bland menu and the superior and demeaning attitude of the staff (who I suspect to be the owner). The young daughters of friends of mine went there with their parents--they did not like it--I agree with them. read more

I don't know how this place isn't more reviewed - it's a GEM in this tiny town! Everything we've tried off the menu has been phenomenal - the South Bowl with tempeh, the Korean combo, the peanut yakisoba, jackfruit torta, and mushroom tempeh naan tacos - all CHEF'S KISS. The AM options were just as great, and we came back throughout our stay to pickup more pastries for the trail. We were also really impressed by the ambiance: friendly & prompt service, a large (dog-friendly) patio, and perfect background music. We decided to eat all our meals here during our time in town and have not been disappointed yet! A must-try when you're in Winthrop. read more

We got takeout from here a couple times last winter during ski trips, and we ate inside once at the end of January this year. My husband had the Naan Tacos, which he really liked. I ordered the Fried Rice Protein Plus, which wasn't on the printed menu, but I'd seen it on their online to go menu. It was excellent, and it lasted me for two meals. read more

We just left our Sunday brunch there and unfortunately did not have the experience that we had hoped for. I'm not a big fan of having to pay the bill at the beginning of your meal because then your tip is based on experience you have not yet had, And unfortunately, we did not have a good experience and tipped much higher than we should have. They forgot about our food so we waited about an hour before we said something, and then, When my husband went up to the front, they acknowledged that they completely forgot about our order and offered us pastries which we did not want so my husband mentioned maybe we would take a mimosa while we wait. Sounded like they were going to do that for us but then did not. Our food finally came out and the taste was OK but the food was cold at least partially. I have been looking forward to trying this place for a long time and we were even thinking about hitting it up for dinner but I can't believe they wouldn't even acknowledge completely forgetting about an order. They did nothing to make up for it and didn't even seem like it was a big deal that they completely forgot about us. Doubt that we will be back. Sad because it has potential, but for $75 breakfast, to have that experience and have to even bus my own table, no thanks.
