I was in town to visit a friend and awoke early, so rather than making a bunch of noise in their small house, I meandered downtown with my laptop and discovered Rocking Horse. I ordered a delish white mocha, nommed on a freshly baked muffin, and topped it off with a personal-sized pan of their incredibly tasty quiche. What put this place at the top of my coffee list, though, was the impeccable service. So friendly, and so welcoming - even as the early morning line of customers grew and grew. The servers were incredibly kind and friendly, but the restaurant owner was a different story. We had a yummy basket of fries and a nice chat with our server. After receiving our pizza, both myself and my friend thought that the pizza tasted and smelled of cigarettes. The sauce was very acidic and chunky, and overall unpleasant to eat. We each tried one slice, I couldn't finish mine- before deciding that we really couldn't enjoy it. We let our server know as much and offered to pay for a half pizza/kids pizza (still paying as expected for the rest of our food/drinks), and he said that he would have to ask his supervisor about our request. When "JP" came out, it was clear he had been drinking. He became argumentative quickly- claiming that we just didn't understand how oven fired pizza was supposed to taste, that we were clearly trying to dine and dash, and eventually told us to just "see what happens" and to not pay and leave. He took a photo of us which we asked him to delete (he didn't- he posted us on the business Facebook page- see attached, I've removed my friend's face) and told us he could do "anything he wants" since he was the owner. In all of the breath he spent yelling at us, he could have offered a better solution, or just kindly told us there was nothing he could do. I asked the server if we could just pay and move on- he told us it was fine/on the house, and it seemed like dealing with a drunk for a boss wasn't out of the ordinary. I am sorry to see this kind of unprofessional behavior from someone who claims to have been in the restaurant industry over 30 years. Save your time and the headache and go to Meza or Three Fingered Jack's. We had an excellent experience and enjoyed the food immensely at both locations.

The service I received was top notch! Molly, Vickie, and Jonathan were really cool, friendly, and went above and beyond for me. I fell in love (LOVE!) with their chocolate soda, literally! Hands down, it's absolutely the best chocolate drink I've ever had. I would go in daily to get one order to drink immediately and 1-2 drinks to go (no ice, I would chill it in the hotel fridge). I loved the drink so much, I actually went across the street to Aspens Grove and bought two pitchers, so I could get enough of the drink to share with friends (11 people in total!) And yes, everyone loved it! The chocolate soda was more chocolate milk, since they had a soda water shortage, but if it's as tasty as the chocolate milk - oh my! Other pros- everything they use is either home grown (they have their own organic farm) or sourced locally whenever possible. All ingredients are of high quality and organic (also whenever possible). My first meal was their curry chicken salad which had great flavor and coconut flakes which added a nice texture! Vickie is the master chef and the magician behind their dishes and drinks. She took time to come out and share the chocolate soda recipe with me. I'll tell you this much- she makes an amazing dark chocolate ganache as the base of their chocolate drinks!
