I order often and have big batches of food delivered. This order was placed 1 week in advance, I was charged and it never arrived. I left a message with no callback in the am. Still no food delivery at or callback at 3pm. I attempted to contact the store, however, had to leave a vm. 20 min later, I called back, and spoke with an employee who stated they were having delivery issues recently. They stated my food was not delivered bc fish was not fresh. This was the opposite information I was told on phone when ordering. After a lengthy hold, I asked how the situation was going to be resolved. Thankfully, I was DoorDashed 1 frozen recipe, and my box of fresh recipe that was not delivered as ordered. I was initially told xyz would be sent, which was not the amount I ordered and was charged for. Called back, no one was answering the phone, I didn't want the incorrect amount delivered, so called the HB store and they sent a message to CM store. In the end, I was left with frozen food, unnecessary stress and time spent on rectifying something that could have been handled with a phone call. I hope in the future, information is better communicated about why a delivery was not being made. This is unfortunate. On a better note, I have been a customer for years, and have not had an issue like this previously. The couriers have ALWAYS been curtious and communicated effectively. Plus all my my past and previous LOVE this food. Bulk options are the way to go. I hope for a better experience nextime. read more

We have a 10 year old Frenchie and we feed her the Fish & Sweet Potato and Beef & Russet Potato. She's had food allergies with all other foods besides those two. I highly recommend calling in advance and ordering their fresh food. When they get frozen food delivered from their offsite kitchen, I notice it tends to thaw out like mush. I usually go to the Tustin location to pick up fresh food for my dog, but this time I decided to try the Costa Mesa location since Tustin was out of fresh food. I paid almost $46, and unfortunately the batch I received was mostly vegetables and not much meat. My dog doesn't eat that much vegetables, so this was a problem. I've never had this issue at the Tustin location. I even called to ask if it was the same food they deliver there, and the person I spoke with was not friendly or helpful, which is rare because staff are usually great. Worst service! And customer service. I was not going to leave a review but after subscribing to weekly reoccurring deliveries and having to call every week to check on my order it was time. Spending almost $200 a week in dog food is not cheap. The purpose to spend the money and set up reoccurring deliveries is for the convenience and to make things more simple and automated. It defeats the purpose when you have to call weekly or every other week when you realize your order has not arrived yet by the end of the day. It is even more frustrating when you get the same, empty apology, with the same excuses. I have been hearing the same apology for over 6 months. My dogs can only eat certain foods so that is why I cannot change at this point. But I will look for more reliable alternatives. read more

Although I've experienced quite a few issues with JFFD in the past with food stock/ availability and being able to contact customer service due to COVID, the CM location of JFFD has been an absolute life saver. Dog owners will know it's difficult to switch your dogs diet on a moments notice, since they need to be transitioned to a new food. With JFFD experiencing stock issues due to COVID, I was scrambling & driving to the DTLA location every few days to try to grab whatever food that I could find, so that I could make sure my dogs could eat or, alternatively, at least be transitioned to a new food w/o getting sick. I went to JFFD in CM after seeing they had some stock available. One of the employees noticed my profile had a golden & informed me of their bulk orders. He explained what "bucket orders" were to me + how to place the order & gave me a flyer with some extra information of pricing, delivery, & order deadlines - I'm not exaggerating when I say that this employee literally saved my sanity. Since CM is a kitchen location (rather than a pantry), they'll take orders, cook, & deliver (pick up is also an option) on a specific day of the week (pending type of food), as long as you place the order by the order deadline. You can order in person or over the phone & the process is always extremely easy & quick. Although portioning the food out takes a bit, it's significantly easier & better than having to scramble to random stores all over southern CA every few days. (Not to mention, I love how you get free shipping if you meet the dollar minimum!) After portioning the food, I freeze the extra portions & thaw it just like the freezer fresh packs. The food is fresh, so I don't mind the extra portioning time in exchange for the food quality & stock consistency. I've been in store to this location as well, and the employees are significantly nicer than some of the other locations I've been to (& It's safe to say that I've been to A LOT during the months of June - August). They go the extra mile to package the food to avoid it from spoiling during the drive home on hot days, always offer to help me load heavier purchases into my car, & are always trying their best to get customers helped ASAP. read more

I believe we stepped into Dog Heaven. There is a little doggie that I personally know, who at least thinks so. This location is amazing. The staff are super knowledgeable and helpful in determining your pets needs from their food, treat, and supplements to keep them healthy. My Maltese is going through a picky stage and Hannah helped us figure out options to try now that our vet recommends a low fat food due to old age and health issues. My pup loved the lamb and brown rice for several years and is not too happy about the white fish and sweet potato option we switched to a couple month ago. They are stocked with healthy snacks as well as multivitamins and supplements and even offer recipes if you want to cook at him. Not to mention this location is clean. We just adopted a new puppy and this is our first time being pet owners. I was overwhelmed with what to feed my new puppy. When I walked in, I was greeted by a nice gentleman who seemed to know what he was talking about. He was very helpful at first. In order to help me determine how much food to buy, He asked some questions about my pup and suggest 36 oz. of food per day. I couldn't believe my 8 lbs pup could eat that much! So I asked him are you sure? He's only 8 lbs. he said yes. A few days later, we visited the vet, she recommended 16 oz per day...that half of what was recommended at Justfoodfordogs. I wish I was given better information. A few days later, we ordered more food online and when we arrived to pick it up, it was not ready and they did not have our order ready. Online shopping needs to be improved. Other than that, I think this place is great. I would recommend it to friends and family and I would also let them know to check with their vet to make sure you know how much to feed your puppy. My two hounds have been chowing down on the delicious and healthy recipes from JFFD for over a year now. Charlie came down with a horrible autoimmune disease, IMHA, that nearly killed him. He did not want to eat his usual kibble, and the heavy dose of meds were causing his liver to malfunction. He was losing weight drastically, and I was frantically trying everything I could to save him. After consulting a holistic specialist, she suggested I do some home cooking to help clean up his system. So I used her recipe and cooked up a batch of white cod fish with russet potatoes and sweet potatoes. Miraculously, Charlie ate it! Then of course, brother Ramsay wanted some too. The cooking was time intensive for my schedule so I was hoping to find something ready made. That's when I was referred to JFFD by a friend, and I was so thrilled to see that they offered a white cod fish recipe on their menu. To make things even better, they can ship the food directly to your home. We ordered some for home delivery, and two days later it arrived on our doorstep--it's frozen and well packed in dry ice. My hounds love it! And I'm happy to report that Charlie has made a full recovery. Now that we are out of crisis mode, we have tried some of the other recipes: venison and squash, chicken and rice, lamb and brown rice, surf and turf, california sushi, and stir fry. They love them all. Staples in our freezer are venison and squash and chicken and rice. The customer service has been great. After our first order, customer service reps called a couple times to see how the food was working for us. For Christmas, they sent us a gift of yummy salmon jerky. Last month, I went to their store for the first time, and staff helped me pick out my food and carried it out to my car. A store visit is a must--they have an open kitchen and you can see them cooking up the food. All the recipes and treats are available for purchase. You can also bring in your fur kid to do some taste testing. The food can be pricey, but I think it is so worth it. If you have budget concerns, you can make the food yourself with their supplement--they will teach you at their cooking classes. I am so pleased with this company. The kitchens are places you can go see them make the food fresh!! It is all prepared here locally in the USA. You can watch them make the food fresh and each day there is a different flavor that is made fresh. The food also goes into the freezer fresh. I buy a varitey of flavors to feed my dog and he loves them all!! I buy him chicken, fish, beef, turkey, and lamb. They also have venison and seasonal flavors. I myself have personally tried the chicken one and it tastes like people food, just more bland as you can't use seasonings for dogs like for people. They offer free delivery for orders over $99, which for me is everytime I buy from here because my dog is 100 pounds and so it adds up really quick. They also offer bulk sizes of 10lb, 25 lb, and even 100 lb buckets which will save you more money. Once I clean out my garage and get a small freezer for the garage, I plan on doing the bulk options. I usually portion out the foods and feed it to my dog accordingly, but I also mix his food with kibble as feeding him only this food becomes super expensive. They also have foods that are portable in paper boxes. I have bought those also. They are great for traveling as they do not need to be in the refrigerator! You can put the leftovers in the fridge, but for my dog, there never is left overs. I take the portable containers on trips and they are great! They are more pricey though at almost $5 a box. I must say though, that the food in the boxes are not as appetizing as the fresh frozen ones. My dog seems to love it all the same though. Fresh food can get pricey so they do sell the supplements and give you recipes for all the foods and you can prepare them at home instead. I chose for them to make it because I have tried making my dog's food before and it is pretty time consuming. I work alot, so them making it is easier for me. The supplements are about $20 each. I have ordered from them online and in stores. The workers are friendly and my dog get totally distracted from all the smells in the stores! In stores, they also have free samples of all the snacks. Their food can also be found in Petco, but only certain ones will have the fresh foods. They also seem to really care about their customers and respond quickly to issues. I had a promo code that had worked, but when the confirmation email came back, it was not applied. I sent an email and they immediately fixed it. There was also a time when a product was backordered and they offered to refund me or send me another flavor immediately. This place has made my dog and I lifetime customers!
