Well, I was hoping for something as potent as Pollo a la Brasa in Los Angeles, where the wood smoke permeates the chicken through to the bone, and the chicken is so juicy it tantalizes the mouth before it practically melts. Well, Peruvian Fuego did not reach that. Our waiter and staff was excellent and attentive, which was pleasing. And the patio was nice, although the music was a bit loud. We ordered empanadas and two chickens. The empanadas were tasty. A bit different in texture than what I'm used to, but the filling was nice....beef, onions, raisins. But the chicken? Even though these were supposedly smoked, I smelled only the faintest of smoke. The birds had ZERO juiciness, although they were reasonably tender. I guess I got used to that huge rotating rotisserie at the place I mentioned in Los Angeles with 100 birds going at any time, so what you got was right out of the fire. Here, the chicken tasted it it may have been very lightly smoked and then reheated a day or two later. That may or may not be the case, but It just wasn't special. It was marginally better than El Pollo Loco. Update: 1 day later after being in the fridge, I could taste the smokiness much more prominently. I shredded the remaining chicken (breasts and wings), simmered it in lime juice and chicken brothn to make it tender, and had it in tacos. Delicious! The rice was good. The salads ok--fresh but not really dressed. I didn't like their aji. I'd like to try some other items. They have a nice full Peruvian menu. But all in all, the food I had didn't grab me enough to make me want to come running back. read more

I chose this place for lunch and wish I chose somewhere else. I ordered the lomo saltado with steak and the portion was tiny. I was done with the dish within 5 minutes, but sad to say, I wasn't impressed with the flavors. It was just salty, no specific flavor notes. I was in town for "business" reasons and asked "locals" here what they recommended as must eats... hence, I ended up here. OVERALL: The quality is a miss. The proportional quantity is a miss. Half of the chunks of beef were rock hard. The other half of the beef were moderately tender. The red onions were half cooked but delicious. The rice was overcooked. The sauce / base was delicious. ***YES MAKE SURE YOU TRY THE GREEN SAUCE!!!*** INCA KOLA: Artificially delicious. It tasted exactly like rock sugar candy on a stick from childhood. SERVICE: Male wait staff was kind and friendly as well as mildly attentive... still had to wave him down most of the time. However, it was terrible how he didn't forewarn us that solely hot water was $2. HOT WATER FOR $2!!! Never came to refill any of our beverages except offered us leftover water (hazy / cloudy glass bottles with 1/4 water left in them) as we were there 1 hour before closing. Asked how we were doing once. AMBIANCE: Casual dining. Indoor and outdoor seating. We were the only table the entire time (...if this tells you anything). One pickup order. Service fees not automatically included. Booths, tables, chairs and utensils were dirty. Located in a plaza with a large free private parking lot. Would I come back? Stopped in for a quick to-go order and were pleasantly surprised. I can't remember exactly what we ordered, but we split a sandwich, had a rice dish, and a steak entrée that was absolutely out of this world. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Wow just wow! We were here for my husbands 40th birthday and we ended up coming back 3 times while we were here. We tried the aguadito, lomo saltado, aji gallina, chaufa rotisserie,tamal, ceviche, lacuma ice cream, maracuya sour, and chicha morada sour. EVERY SINGLE THING WE ORDERED WAS DELICIOUS!!!!! The aguadito was literally a home cooked meal that touches your soul! I got it as much as I could. The ceviche had such good flavor. The rotisserie chicken was so well cooked. The maracuya and chicha sour drinks were amazing! Both have sweet profiles but their not over powering. I added Tajin on my rim! We were so happy with everything we got and it felt like your grandmother was in the back cooking your food! Not only was the food delicious but the servers were so friendly and attentive. There was a nice and intimate ambiance with seating both inside and outside. Sorry we didn't have more pictures, we dove into quickly and licked our plates! Ordered to go. About a 5-10 min car drive home. Lomo saltado - beef was hard to chew; way overcooked. Chaufa shrimp - tasty fried rice with good amount of shrimp. Would order again. Chicharron with yucca fries - crispy pork with luscious layer of partly rendered fat. Fries were also crispy and soft on the inside. I discover this place three weeks ago with my boyfriend we both loved the ceviche and the rest, we came back last week and the waitress gave me an attitude, she forgot to give us utensils and when I asked for them she said that in Mexico we eat with our hands which isn't true, I didn't pay attention to that, but that second time the lomo salteado was tuff I didn't eat it and the worst was the ticket they over charge us the shrimp ceviche was charged for 24 dollars in the menus is 12, they over charge us over 25 dollars total, my boyfriend was disappointed because he really liked it, but we're not coming back ever, owner, look good for your employees they could ruin your restaurant, I think they will remember who we are, specially the waitress read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Peruvian Fuego. This is a fairly small restaurant in a shopping center with beautiful Peruvian decor; a great spot for a date. My partner and I were promptly seated and the staff were attentive throughout our meal. We ordered a couple of drinks, the Pilsner and chicha morada sour, and the chicha sour was delicious and well balanced. We decided to do various appetizers for food, so we ordered the following: cancha (5/5; a great small app with dried and crunchy corn that comes with great sauce), aguadito soup (5/5; the flavor of the broth was delicious, I added a little lime juice and it was perfect. The chicken and potato included are filling but not very flavorful so I focused on the broth), tamale (5.5/5; possibly the best tamale I've ever had. Amazing flavor and the pickled onions and sauce paired perfectly), chicharron con yucca (4.5/5; very crispy pieces of pork belly with a few yucca fries. Again, the pickled onions were a nice touch. The dish definitely needed the sauce because the main components were both quite dry), mussels ceviche/choros a la chalaca (5/5; very fresh mussels and all of the toppings paired well together. We were visiting our daughter in Palm Springs from San Francisco. This is the 2nd time we stoped by at this restaurant. The owner, Hyron, is absolutely amazing. He's incredibly passionate about his restaurant, and it truly shows in every aspect of the dining experience. His customer service is exceptional, and the food is outstanding. Although Peruvian Fuego has a broad amount of food on their menu, we seized upon them having pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), and went straight for that. I ordered the half chicken with rice and salad. The chicken was juicy, marinated just right, and had great flavor. My wife had tallerines verdes with some pollo a la brasa, and she immediately loved it, and she's not even always a big chicken fan. Both dinners came with sauce, one of them having a little bit of a "kick" to it, and both being complex and delicious. I've been to Peru twice, and have been a fan of pollo a la brasa for quite some time, so I was happy to find a place that not only serves it, but does it well. The service was excellent, with our waiter, Jose, formerly from Lima. I forgot to mention that the chicha morada, a sweetened blue corn drink, was also delicious. And yes, they have Inka Cola. I know that will make some of you happy. When we were in Peru, we used to joke that if you could turn bubble gum into a soft drink, it'd be Inka Cola. Definitely recommended. I'm so glad I came in. I haven't had Peruvian food in a while and this did not disappoint. First of all, I was greeted at the door when I exited my car. Super welcoming customer service! I had tuna causa because it was hot outside and I wanted something light. Tangy and not too heavy just as advertised. The star however was the chicken and shrimp lomo saltado. I always get beef and I asked the hostess, Sara, what she favors and she said shrimp and chicken. Enough said. This is where magic happened. The chicken was crispy and they were generous with the shrimp. The chicken is never crispy when I order it somewhere else. It's just stir fried. That's what made this chicken saltado special. By far one of the best Peruvian restaurants I've been to. The food and drinks were full of flavor. I ordered the pescado frito, which was cooked perfectly, and my husband had the bistec a lo pobre. We also shared the papa a la huancaína, which had great flavor and reminded me of how my grandma in Peru used to make it--different, but still very good. The only downside for me was the arroz chaufa. I ordered it instead of white rice, but it tasted more like Chinese fried rice rather than traditional Peruvian chaufa. Also, my husband's steak was cut thinner than the usual thick cut most places serve, though it still had good flavor. For drinks, I had the chicha morada cosmopolitan and my husband ordered a pisco sour--both were on point. Overall, for the time and effort they put into the food, it's definitely worth the price. TL;DR: friendly service, food was delicious A last minute decision - we were at the grocery store trying to decide where to go for lunch when someone suggested we just do takeout and bring the food back for our group in our Airbnb in Palm Springs. After a quick Google maps search, I came upon Peruvian Fuego which checked the boxes for everyone. We hopped over to order, and the service staff were super nice and friendly. Wait time was about 30 minutes for them to get the food together which is reasonable and would have been perfect if we were the type to call ahead to order. The restaurant itself is quite small and cosy, they have an outdoor seating area as well. Ventilation wasn't the best in there since the kitchen was open to the dining room so that's something to consider if you do end up dining in. We ended up getting: Lomo Saltado: one with chaufa, one with regular rice. Was delicious, a bit on the salty side but paired fine with a carb. Pretty generous with the meat and fries. Causa with lomo saltado: also delicious since it was the same lomo saltado as the above. I liked the mashed potatoes. Ceviche mixto: deliciously refreshing in the heat! Had a good amount of fish, and other seafood. Pollo a la brasa: we got a half chicken which was juicy, even the breast meat. It was well seasoned and had overall good flavor. We didn't get a side included since we only wanted a salad and got that separately. Aji de gallina: deliciously creamy, the chicken was shredded and a little dry but the sauce fixed it all. For dessert, we ordered the pinono (roll cake) and the crema volteada (flan). It was all delicious, and beautifully prepared (down to the detail of the soft yolk in the eggs that accompanied the bistec). And the toasted corn kernel garnish on the leche de Tigre - so good!
