Adorable cafe near the square in Shelbyville! We were hungry after a morning of book store crawling and didn't really know what was around to eat but found this spot on Yelp. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, cute decor inside and a variety of things you can get on the menu. I was with a couple gluten free friends and they were happy to find options for them as well. The grilled cheese was good and hit the spot. It typically comes with chips but I upgraded to fries, which were served in a cute basket. The menu says nothing is fried in oil, so I'm guessing they use an air fryer? They seemed hand cut, but I'm not totally sure about that. We didn't get dessert but they also have boba, ice cream and coffee! Definitely a great lunch spot when driving through Shelbyville. read more

This is becoming one of my favorite places for breakfast. Always a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. The smoothies are delicious! I most recently visited and ordered a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, and a hash brown casserole. Everything was fresh and filling. 10/10 recommend Just Peachy! Wonderful and fresh lunch options. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. We had just left another local restaurant because of bad service. So Just Peachy was the perfect place to go to feel appreciated and also for GREAT food. I LOVED my smoothie. The cinnamon rolls were absolute perfection! The food was decent. We got the creamy chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. It's yummy but a little too sweet. The RBG with fries was delicious, but was $12 for the tiniest little roll sandwich. The bistro plate was okay. Two slices of turkey two slices of ham, Gouda cut too close to the rind and was too hard to eat, and the menu says it comes with crackers but it didn't. My husband also ordered the loaded potato soup and it was grainy. Like they cooked it with a roux that wasn't cooked long enough. It sounds like a lot of complaints but these are just our observations. Aside from the food: the service was fantastic. Our server was quick, attentive, and friendly. The restaurant itself is adorable. And their baked goods are really the star of the show. read more

While strolling Shelbyvilles' Town Square on this particularly blustery Thursday afternoon, my best friend and myself were looking for a place to discover a bite to eat that I was sure we had already driven past by earlier on our way into the main thoroughfare, my girlfriend and I couldn't remember which way on foot so after figuring out coordinates we finally stumbled into the Just Peachy last Thursday afternoon. Just peachy is home to its exclusive half pound cookie in chocolate chip and snickerdoodle these are fresh baked cookies that are soft and delectable. Although it was shortly before they closed upon our arrival,we received prompt courteous service from exceptional friendly waiting staff nonetheless. I had half a sandwich and broccoli cheddar soup my friend having the same . I found the food to be very well presented as well as at an attractive price, and the fall ambience within the place set the perfect tone for lunch with my bestie on a blustery yet well accompanied day with a host of various local flavors, music, and a visit to a local thrift store's. What a lovely experience! My sister and I plan "adventures" for us to have on the weekend with our 85-year-old mother. We decided on the casino, but we needed to find a place to eat. Just Peachy came up, I recommended, we were not disappointed. RBG, Black & Bleu, Just Peachy salad with a shared slice of carrot cake. Perfect! My sister said she would visit just based on the cute menu design. The restaurant is decorated in such a nice cozy way. My mom mentioned that she felt like she was back in Ipswich, SD when she was a kid. Our waitress was wonderful, I think Angie, and I hate if I got her name wrong. A delightful cafe and a wonderful addition to downtown Shelbyville! The menu is varied with salads, sandwiches, and soups for lunch. Breakfast is also served during their hours 8am -2pm The patio is perfect for outdoor dining and has been extended with numerous patio tables with umbrellas and cozy seating arrangements. A variety of flowers and plants scattered about complete the perfect setting. The chicken salad croissant is very good, served with chips or choose from other sides. Fresh baked goodies are available daily. The brownies and the snickerdoodle are divine! Our waitress cleaned the tables with a bleach solution between customers, wore a mask, and was very efficient despite being so busy at lunch time. Locally owned with friendly staff. Excellent lunch...I had the loaded potato soup and JP Signature Chicken salad. The açaí salad dressing was so good! My friend had a pancake, hash browns, and bacon. And if that wasn't enough we ordered the Sunrise smoothies to go. The service was right on. And the place is decorated in a cute fashion - they have a bicycle hanging on the wall! We stopped in here for the 1st time today. What a treat! We are some admittedly picky eaters and this worked for all of us. From the cheese and meat to the potatoes and lettuce, the ingredients are top notch. They know how to make each one shine without over working or over seasoning. We had the roast beef sandwich (w/ chips); a cup of potato soup loaded; double cheeseburger with bacon (w/ fries); and a loaded grilled cheese (w/ fries). Then the dessert counter. I mean ... it's just heaven. We have chocolate and non-chocolate needs. They had us covered with choices for all. Brownies & puddings came home with us... both glorious! They seem to have responded nicely to COVID. They found their way through and this writer suspects we are all better for it! Wow, oh wow! This place is great! Not very often can a restaurant please so many palates. We've brought the traditionalists here as well as those who love to experiment with the latest and greatest among Mass and Virginia Aves in Indy. Everyone LOVES Just Peachy! Do NOT miss the Cinnamon Roll breakfast! Once, 3 out of 4 with us ordered it, and the lone man out was miserable watching our delight (it was sold out when he decided to join us). Each of the sandwiches we've eaten were excellent as well. It's a neat location in the heart of Shelbyville, the building is a great tribute to the turnaround of a great downtown. Try the outdoor seating area, the tent is awesome! The service has been splendid, and the owner is a joy to talk to (looking forward to seeing some of her future plans for JP come about) We drive in from Greenfield to enjoy this spot of awesomeness, thanks to all who make it happen! read more

Same great staff, same cool space, same open kitchen where a party of one like me can grab a counter seat and watch the chefs do their thing. I've honestly always enjoyed that part of the experience. Today I had the avocado toast with feta and an egg on top, and it totally hit the spot. Earlier this week I tried one of the newer menu items -- fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a sample of jalapeño cornbread and Asian slaw. Incredible comfort food. And as someone who normally isn't much of a slaw person, I was surprised by how much I loved it. They also tried to tempt me with the roast beef special, which honestly looked great, but at 10:30 in the morning I just couldn't fully commit to roast beef yet. Maybe next time. The new name is a nice tribute to the owner's mother, Arleen, but thankfully it still feels like the Milktooth so many of us have come to enjoy over the years. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been in awhile.

You might think you're in the back woods of Indiana, but copies of recent Scientific American and Smithsonian fill the reading rack. A collection of Midwest minerals and fossils stand in an old cabinet. Wares by a few local artisans are offered. It's not fancy, six assorted tables. The breakfast menu fills a white board. I order eggs, hash brown casserole and a biscuit. The breakfast is ready in 10 or so minutes and served on syrofoam plates. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the hash browns stick to your ribs and the biscuit with delicious apple butter is filling. You can camp out back for $15 (primitive) $30 (electric) and pan for gold or collect rocks in the creek. It's not upscale or trendy. They might look at you funny if you ask for a latte. But these are the nicest people on earth and serve up a hearty breakfast on a cold day.

Picked our drinks from the cooler and sat out in the sunny porch table and enjoyed the 60+ degree weather after a 40 degree morning while Robin prepared our food. Friendly conversation with other customers and warm sun (and cold drinks) made it easy on the wait. (there are dining tables inside and under a covered porch too). Yes, the food is served on foam plates with plasticware, but the taste is home cooking with care. Crispy home fries with caramelized onions (can't resist with ketchup) and soft moist cornbread with whipped butter (not in package) that were perfect companion to the bean and ham stew. Though I prefer cherries that are more tart in cobbler/pie, the homemade crust made up for it. Snagged a brownie to take home since we couldn't resist. Altogether it was $23 and credit cards are accepted (whew!) Left wallet at home and we were scraping together cash and coins before we saw the credit card sticker on the door and added desserts to our order. A 15 minute country drive from Nashville which certainly would have been at least that long a wait finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon in Nashville.

The simple but well-kept tables and booths are typical of Mid-American diners. It was our daughter's birthday and comfort food was what she wanted. There were five of us (four adults and one child) so we called ahead. They were gracious enough under the circumstances to set aside a larger 6-person corner table for us to allow us to be seated right away despite it being a relatively busy Friday evening at 6 PM. Our server, Wendi, did a great job taking care of us. She was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The menu was chicken-centric as the restaurant name clearly implies. One intriguing side item that seemed to be a signature for them were the fried biscuits. They were essentially fried pieces of dough sprinkled with powdered sugar with apple butter spread that we used as a dip. They were memorable and made nice starters. All of our mains were, of course, chicken dinners. Dark and white meat ensembles were both available. There was a nice variety of sides and our party opted for various combos that included onion rings, green beans, cottage cheese, baked potato and mashed potatoes. And of course, American-style dinner rolls accompanied each meal. It was all very tasty. I'll also note that their coffee was reasonably good. My wife, our 4-yr-old granddaughter and I were able to split one three-piece dinner making this a fabulous value. The total bill with food, drinks, tax and tip was $85. At just over $21 per adult, it was a good value by today's standards. I'll gladly give this place five stars. They're unpretentious, deliver exactly what you're led to expect, and they pull it off very well. We'll go back if we have the chance.
