We approached the Fairmount resort and the staff was so nice and welcoming at the Valet! However once we got to dinner our experience was very disappointing. Our server was trying to be accommodating and present but it seemed to be understaffed. We didn't order any appetizers or desserts just mains and our meal took over an hour and a half, for just one course. We all ordered different things off the menu and were all disappointed. The rice tasted like Trader Joe's reheated frozen rice out of a bag. The Mac n cheese was way too over cooked and tasted like mush. The fish was okay not my favorite as it had chunks of crunchy herbs on top and minimal sauce, yet still didn't taste like anything. Pina colada was amazing tho!! I would give this restaurant a 4/10. They tried :(
One of the best meals I had when my family visited Maui. Came right after our flight in and it was amazing!! Everything was so flavorful and the meat was cooked perfectly. We got a couple of dishes and I loved them all. Especially the Hawaiian style beef cheek and poi stew, octopus, and the seafood laulau!! The beef was super tender and paired nicely with the sauce. Octopus was not chewy and the laulau was sooo well balanced. Great service, waiters were very friendly and loved the view of the pool right behind the restaurant.
The hotel is beautiful when arriving. When we approached the restaurant, I didn't expect it to be open air seating. I thought it was enclosed. We were greeted and seated quickly. The spread of the brunch buffet is not as grand as other buffets. They have sections for breakfast items, local food items, raw fish, poke, sushi, dessert, and a carving station. The carving station was roast beef. Of the dishes enjoyed were the roast beef, local dishes, and poke. The roast beef was cooked good but needed salt. The creamy horseradish sauce and ad jus added additional flavor but not the saltiness I needed. The char sui and mochiko chicken were also tasty. The tuna poke and spicy shrimp poke were also good. As it was a nice day, it was enjoyable to be seated outside. It was not hot nor the sun blazing above. Our table overlook the swimming pool area. Our wait staff cleared and replaced our dirty dishes and cutlery. And refreshed our drinks when it was low. It was a enjoyable stop in Maui for us.
Leanne and Randy, the dynamic duo of an elevated dining experience. Leeann was my server. Randy was the assistant to her and they were both providing me with an exemplary experience for my 50th birthday. This is one of the more elevated dining experiences you will find on the island of Maui. Breathtaking views of the ocean sunsets are incredible. When dinner service begins. There is a native Hawaiian who blows a conch shell with a small ceremony to celebrate the evening and to pay homage to the true owners of this island the native Hawaiians. I started out with the Tchin Tchin cocktail, amazing delicate flavor, not too sweet. I then had to try their seared Ahi on the rock appetizer where they bring you a piping hot rock and fresh Aji you cook the Aji on the rock yourself and it comes with three different incredible dipping sauces. Then I had the lobster tempura dish for my main meal combined with grilled monchong. This is one of the best dishes I think I've ever had in my life. The fish was so light and buttery and juicy and flaky, and the lobster cooked to perfection, and I was very skeptical because were breading this lobster and tempura and there's such a risk of over cooking and that did not happen here I was super super pleased. I then went with the Pinoy honey toast for dessert with a side of Ube ice cream also incredible. The service here for me was second to none. It was delightful to spend my 50th birthday here and I owe much gratitude to Leeann and Randy for their service! Many mahalos! I will definitely be back.
The food was okay and ordinary. Good service and vibe. I wish the idols could be more exciting. The ahi was not as good as I thought, could be more texture. The beef was well cooked.
I researched the best restaurants in Wailea before our trip, and dining at Ko turned out to be one of the most special and memorable experiences of our stay. We were seated at an exceptional table overlooking the adults-only pool. As evening fell and the tiki torches were lit, the view over the water was quietly magical. Our server, Connie, was genuinely warm and welcoming. She surprised us with a Happy Anniversary card featuring a painting of the hotel, signed by 30 Ko staff members. Each signature was done with care and personality--one even whimsically shaped like a cat. I loved it so much that I have the card hanging in my home. Connie explained the menu clearly and thoughtfully, including several items we hadn't encountered before. We started with the venison lumpia, an elevated take on a spring roll, and shared the wagyu lettuce wraps. Sharing was the right choice--the dish came with four types of lettuce, yuzu leaves, fern greens, a rectangular pan of rice, and more than enough beautifully prepared wagyu for two. Earlier in the week, a guest I met at a lei-making class mentioned she had ordered the wagyu steak at Ko twice. I understand why. For dessert, the strawberry--shaped like an actual strawberry--was both beautiful and inventive, light rather than heavy, and a perfect ending. Peni, the manager, also stopped by our table to say hello, which added another thoughtful touch to the evening. Thank you to everyone at Ko who made this dinner so memorable. It remains one of my happiest travel memories and truly lives in my heart.
Haven't been to Kō since the menu change and was excited to try the new items. Seafood Lau Lau: everything was cooked to perfection and broth was very tasty (ask for a side of white rice!) It came with a side of Lomi Tomatoe and Sweet Potato Mash but it could honestly do without those two. Korean Short Ribs: very tasty and soft. Kim Chee Fried rice and the banchans it came with was good too. Everything went well together. Grandma's Kasumi's Fried Chicken: chicken had a good crust on it! It's a big portion of chicken as well, plus everything it came with is filling. Pinoy Honey Toast: wasn't what we were expecting. The Corn flavored ice cream is interesting, wasn't our cup of tea. The Ube Ice Cream was lacking Ube flavoring. Kulolo Malasadas: it would have been so so good if there was more Kulolo in it and less of the Coconut Cream, or have the Coconut Cream as a dipping sauce. Service is always good, we have never had any issues even in the past visits.
Ko is a great spot for a moderately upscale family dinner! We really liked the fried chicken with Mac and cheese. Additionally the hostess was very nice to accommodate us with a quieter table. We also like the ahi tuna appetizer and the Seafood Lau Lau was presented beautifully. The only thing that maybe was a skip for me were the mocktails as they didn't feel worth the price. The service was very friendly and the service was nice.
The food was fantastic! Ambiance is amazing! Great restaurant! To start we ordered the lavender honey crispy shrimp, Venison lumpia, and Makeke salad to start. They were all delicious, fresh, and well worth getting. We got the house punch and the daiquiri. The punch was a bit strong for our liking, but the daiquiri might have been the best drink we've ever had. We kept ordering them! For entrées we ordered the Seafood Laulau, braised short ribs, and the crispy kona kanpachi. The seafood was fresh, hummus and the kanpachi was a wonderful bite together. The short ribs were super tender and rich. We loved every bit of it. Our waiter Misty was attentive and helpful. She recommended the honey toast and the malasadas for dessert and she was right! They were so good. A huge thank you to Silvia! So friendly and helpful. She really made a difference in our evening. Appreciate the excellent service! The location of the restaurant is great. Open air, sea breeze, and beautiful plants all around.

From the moment we arrived at Kō, we felt the true spirit of aloha. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and filled with the kind of hospitality that reminds you why dining in Wailea is so special. But what truly elevated our evening was the kuleana and heart shown by the entire team. Peni, the Assistant GM, embodied poʻokela (excellence) in every way -- greeting us with genuine warmth and making us feel like part of the ʻohana from the start. Serena provided malama pono-level service, caring for us with attention and thoughtfulness. James was friendly, engaging, and always present at the right moments, bringing such a comfortable vibe to the table. Roland checked in throughout the evening, ensuring everything was maikaʻi loa (very good) and to our liking. And Chef delivered dishes that were absolutely next level -- rooted in local flavors, beautifully prepared, and crafted with real passion for Hawaiʻi's culinary traditions. From the food to the service, every detail at Kō reflected aloha, intention, and excellence. If you're in Wailea, this is truly a must-dine experience -- a place where you are treated like ʻohana and leave with a full heart. Mahalo nui loa to the entire Kō team -- we will definitely be back!
This place was great to stop at for happy hour! The drinks were good. The edamame was so yummy- very bare bones served cold with salt and lemon juice but it was addicting. Hurricane fries are always delightful and I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the tuna roll! Very fresh. No super groundbreaking flavors but who can say no to sushi. Would recommend!
Really a wonderful meal tonight we started off with some sushi, which had Ahi at the center and a tempura outside finish. My parter had Shiso sour and I had the little Koi Lilikoi margarita both were good flavorful, but not overpowering. It's a nice open air restaurant, and we got to see the holiday decorations from our table. My partner had the lobster tempura and I had the mar jon fish mine came with some local mushrooms that were super tasty and I love the texture. Cas our server was attentive and warm. She did a little mini wine tasting for us of what would go best with our fish. She recommended for dessert the ultimate banana bread which is topped with fantastic homemade ice cream and rum sauce. The food runner put a show pouring the rum sauce over the ice cream. It was fun. I liked the ice cream's marshmallow is like flavor marshmallow. The vanilla rum the pecans just made it really creamy texture . This is something I would not miss. It was great pre-holiday dinner out.

Unbelievable, Ko. We live next door at Polo Beach and love to pick up from Ko for something special. Know they stop taking orders at 8:30, so got everyone's order together for a special dinner and called at 8:14pm. Hostess answered, told her we wanted to order for pick up but before she took our orders I asked if there were any specials. She said she would ask a waitress and be right back. She NEVER RETURNED TO MY CALL OR MY ORDER. Used another phone to call the front desk before it closed- steps away from the restaurant. They said all they could do was call the hostess stand and too bad if nobody answered. This terrible service RUINED a fun night and we are beyond disappointed and scrambling to find something to eat on the last night of our vacation. So so so disappointed read more

We live on Maui and came to celebrate our cousin's last day of her visit with us. We have for the most part, been underwhelmed with our dining experiences thus far on the island with 3 exceptions. I'm pleased to count Ko as one of those exceptions. The service and ambience were exceptional and the food did not disappoint. It was expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. We enjoyed lilikoi margaritas, the pork belly bao buns, chicken and mushroom lumpia, seafood Lau Lau, Korean braised short ribs, and for dessert we shared the Ko Ko puff. an absolute pleasure for all the senses. Be intentional. Do with purpose. Be deliberate. Everything here is intentionally well done and perfection. Recovering from a birthday dinner let down, what an unforgettable and phenomenal experience. Thank you to my lovely server Drew and Fairmont for a redo of my birthday dinner. Because Ko is considered outside dining, you do not need your vaccine card to dine here. Situated downstairs in the lush landscape of the Fairmont Kea Lani, Ko is both casual and upscale. Dress up, dress down, doesn't matter as long as you have an appetite. We started off with vino that had such a cute story. The Fil Pinot Noir from Oregon named after its Filipino winemaker who is also from Hawaii. The Pinot Noir is both sexy and silky. The balance of freshness is a fruit expansion on your tongue and paired well with my entree. Order the Ahi on the Rocks if you want to sear your own ahi tuna. It's a great conversation starter and such a cool presentation of a sizzling rock to cook your own meal. My date ordered the Seafood Lau Lau which was another beautiful presentation of a coconut seafood stew wrapped up in tea leaves. I couldn't decide between scallops and lobster tempura but ended up swayed by Drew who was extremely knowledgeable and sweet and friendly. Certainly was not steered wrong. The tempura was light showcasing the lobster's sweetness. Love love loved the sambal dipping sauce the most. It was accompanied with a side of rice and crispy noodles and steamed asparagus. Vacay vibes require dessert calories so have the pineapple gold creme brûlée. Every restaurant should steal this recipe. Light, airy and yet refreshing, the custard wasn't heavy. Displayed in a cut pineapple so you can scrape more to lick off your fork, this dessert hit all the neutron bombs of carb goodness on your tongue. Authenticity is magnetic. I certainly am drawn to come back over and over and over. There's so much to try on the menu and there's only so much room in my happy belly for this visit. As I believe, if it doesn't add to your life, it does not belong in your life. Ko should be a staple to any vacation, trip, and meal. read more

If it were possible to give more than five stars I would. The outside seating was perfect the night we visited. Arriving just before sunset, we had gentle breezes blowing while the stars started to come out. (Of course if it was raining buckets this would be a different situation. LOL!) The menu offered a broad selection of entrees such as steak, lobster, salads and other dishes. The service was excellent and food was perfect! It was a wonderful experience and I'll definitely be back! read more

Maui plantation style dishes. So no sake here, but plenty delicious cocktails and mai tai. Ahi tuna on the rock is a must. And pork belly Baozi is quite good as well. The fresh caught fish with macadamia nuts, together with their coconut rice is so yummy. read more

We went to Ko for their Sunday brunch. We didn't know what to expect since it's not advertised well (hence the 4 star). We were pleasantly surprised when we were met with delicious and various foods! We also ordered the Big Kahuna Bloody Mary which was insane and really meant for 4+ people. They didn't explain well that the mimosa & bloody Mary's were not part of the $69/person so we thought it was included when it wasn't. We would definitely go back though. read more

Love LOVE this wonderful restaurant! You can't go wrong. A great place for lunch or dinner! Love the local sourced items on the menu. Took my husband here for Father's Day and he loved the hot rock seared ahi and cheese burger! I had the sushi platter and it rocked my world! Love this friendly place who welcome locals and tourists alike! We will be back with our family and friends! Memorable meal and day! The rain came while we were there but Brandon scooted an umbrella over to us to keep us dry! He was a great server and a true gem! My only regret, we were so hungry I wasn't able to snap good pics of the ono food! Happy Eating and enjoy the ambience! read more

Ahi on the rocks was a cool experience, but taste is mediocre while being priced extremely high. 3/5 Tempura lobster was pretty interesting, but still a bit lackluster with a high price tag. 3/5 Bone in Rib-eye, expected better, asked for Medium rare and it came out more of a medium to medium well. For over $56+ I rather go to Ruth Chris for my steak fix. 2/5 read more

We loved Ko! Our server was amazing, and she was incredibly helpful, nice, and fun to talk to. She was one of the best parts of our experience. The ambiance was great as well, and we really liked the music. For our starter, we got the Ahi on the Rock, and it definitely lived up to the hype. For our entrees, we shared the Kobe dish and the local fish (macadamia nut preparation). Both were delicious. I have celiac, so I was excited that so many things could be prepared gluten free. I had great options to choose from and loved the things we picked. The dessert was probably my favorite part, and we loved the pineapple creme brûlée. We also got two drinks, and both were delicious but took at least 20 minutes to bring out, which was the only disappointing part of our experience. Everything else was awesome and we were pleasantly surprised by Ko! I would definitely go back! read more

Was fortunate to visit the Fairmont Kea Lani as they are one of our clients and also have the opportunity to have lunch at their legendary fine dining restaurant. Chef Pang prepared a special lunch since I was here for work with an assorted pupu platter, an Udon vegetable entree and my dish which I loved of the kimchi fried rice with a sunny side up egg and marinated chicken slices. Everything was so ono-licious and highly recommend making a reservation should you be in the Wailea Makena area to check this place out for lunch or dinner. read more

This little oasis is in one word...wonderful. The stars of the show are whatever you can get with flavor pop, so ask for exciting food with kick if you want a good time here, or just get the steak ;) The menu is simple but very effective. Some of their most pedestrian dishes are the most interesting ones. The steak for example is so looked over, but the Hawaiian sea salt, paired with purple sweet potato locally grown mash, and the seasonal fiddleheads gently taken care of... heavenly. The fish stew, what they call zarzuela, was really tasty. It reminded me of the French Bouillabaisse, or Cioppino from California. Just a little heat brought it over the top with a light saffron tomato broth that tasted so good that if I was seafood, I'd gladly jump into for a bath. Oh and the sausage that goes in there is definitely worth a mention because it's amazing. The smaller dishes are well worth it too as far as technicality goes. The Kobe with gojuchang was epic. And that kimchi! Hand rolled spring rolls were great, the pickled daikon slaw with raisin...wow! The sushi roll was delicate and that's tough to do when it's tempura coated, and the salads.. oh boy oh boi! I was in Jamaica once and had hand picked, that day lettuce, that was as good as the greens in the hearts of palm salad, but nowhere else have I ever had lettuce that good before. The lilikoi dressing was very understated but those greens were stand alone perfect so it all made sense on the fork. Drinks drinks drinks! I asked for an old fashioned made with the bartenders favorite whiskey and it was a treat to say the least. Two thumbs way up. My wife had a glass of recommended red and she loved hers too. My kiddo had a virgin Piña colada and he kept wanting me to try it to validate how good it was but I knew already, because I'd had one a day before (with booze), so I already knew just how good it was. The front house manager, Brent McLean was a great guy and a perfect ambassador for the restaurant. He was fun to talk to and really took care of us. The best stuff we ate was because of his doing and for that I am very grateful. He made sure we were happy and will never forget our meal that we had here. Thank you. The few things I figured that could have been better were pretty minor. I like scallops seared, neither in the zarzuela or the scallop dish did any have sear. My fresh tuna cookin rock "burnt out" before I was done cooking my tuna and I thought that dish could have used more salt or flavor. Also the Korean short rib dish tasted less like Korean short ribs and more like grandmas pot roast to me. The cut of the beef was not what I expected, when I think short rib I want some bone, some fat, some flavor, and even some gristle. What I got was what resembled pot roast, maybe the cooks trimmed all the stuff that makes a short rib good off of it, but why? Bones and fat are what any short rib lover wants, or maybe it's just me. Also the carrots on top were the most flavorful part of this dish which wasn't a good thing. I dunno, I wasn't a fan. Oh and one more nit picky thing, the bread platter was awesome, fresh purple sweet potato bread and fresh baked cracker were great. But the crackers and the butter were not getting along. The cracker was too fragile, and the butter wasn't tempered, so every time I tried putting the two together the cracker shattered. But the flavors of both individually were perfect. Overall I had a great time both times I ate there, unfortunately I critique food uncontrollably. Oh and there was also a really cool busser I had a couple interactions with that made my day with his attitude and work ethic. An older skinny Hawaiian guy that I though was really nice. Good atmosphere, good food, amazing service, this place has it all and I can't wait to go back. Thanks to everyone at Ko for a great time. read more

Lovely atmosphere dinning by the pool and decor inside looks fantastic. Servers were nice and very attentive. Our orders were out pretty fast.We ordered "Ahi on the rock" and lavender shrimp for starters, catch of the day in lemongrass curry and catch of the day in macadamia nut crust for mains. For dessert we had Liliko'i cheesecake. Everything tasted fabulous, I do wish portion size were a bit bigger for the price we were paying but am happy for the overall experience. read more

This was inside of the fairmont hotel, it was a nice entrance on the way in. Our server was very professional and friendly. My husband ordered the Lavender Honey Macadamia Nut Shrimp, which was very delicious although there wasn't much a lavender flavor. And I ordered the Lemongrass Coconut Mongchong, the fish was dry and bland. The entree was ridiculously price for the poor flavor. We also ordered the rum soaked banana bread. Again the banana bread was way over cooked and didn't seem it was soaked in rum. read more

Just ok and pretty overrated. Our hotel highly recommended Ko and reviews seemed great, but it seems like just another "fancy" hotel restaurant. The ambiance was actually quite casual and we felt a bit overdressed given that the restaurant was designed similar to a hotel breakfast area or lunch bistro spot. I was expecting a more upscale vibe, including dim lighting, decor etc. For food, we ordered the Ahi on the Rock which came with 3 small cubes of tuna on a stick that you sear yourself on a hot stone. The fish was fresh and the dish was tasty, but not mind blowing especially at the steep price. Also ordered the lavender honey macadamia nut shrimp, which was also tasty, but not any different or more special than the mac nut shrimp we ate throughout Hawaii. For entrees, we ordered the Korean braised short rib which was well prepared but incredibly salty.. again nothing outstanding about this dish. The garlic shrimp noodle resembled classic thick cut Chinese stirfry noodles. I didn't understand the hype. Ambiance was too casual and food was not noteworthy. read more

Sadly Ko did not wow me! Setting is lovely, bartender was friendly but service in general was lacking. My BFF and I went here on a recommendation from her daughter. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer and it came out cool not even room temp. Not good when fried calamari is not hot! The poke bowls we had were so-so, one can certainly find better poke on the island. I won't return as there are too many delicious restaurants on Maui. read more

The food at Ko is so good and we enjoy visiting during our yearly trip to Maui. The short ribs are delicious and the person in our party who had the pork chops said they were wonderful as well. Definitely try the shrimp appetizer. Even I, who does not like shrimp, thought they were very good. Don't skip the dessert. It is always worth the money and calories. My only complaint - and it is serious one - is the fact that Ko no longer offers bread. For a fine dining restaurant, with entree prices averaging $60+, not serving bread is inexcusable. Make a Costco run and throw some French bread in the oven! The entire staff is helpful and attentive and this is one of the few restaurants that offers a generous kamaaina discount. read more

The ambiance blends indoor and outdoor IF you sit on the outer tables. I highly recommend the outer tables, however, during the late afternoon it can get a little warm. The service was quick, professional, and homey. They really brought the island style of service. Lastly the food. Chefs kisses, highly recommend the seafood and catch of the day. The grilled fish was flaky and moist but in some spots were a little dry, although the rich sauce managed to compliment those areas making the dish wonderful all together. The seafood lauau was moist through and through and was a very complete and delicious dish. read more

The restaurant is in a very nice spot. Aside from being right next to a pool and partially inside a hotel, the restaurant has a nice forest like wall and. The food portions were great and my dish was very nice. The green beans with the noodles contrasted perfectly with the scallops and shrimp. The service was a little slow. read more

Went here for a graduation dinner and service was amazing! Had to get the virgin cocktail, was a little icy but full of flavor. Had an amazing view of the sunset and appetizers were delicious! Definitely recommend coming here. read more

This restaurant is on the beautiful Fairmont Kea Lani property. It is outside with beautiful views and a refined but relaxing ambience. The service was friendly and welcoming. I got a salad with the fresh catch of the day which was sea bass. The salad was delicious along with the sea bass. I had an excellent dining experience and look forward to visiting again. read more
