Jan 2023: hot and sour soup, golden curry and chicken pad Thai
Sam A.

Let's say 3.5. Came on a Saturday around 12 and there were still plenty of tables available but many people were already there. I appreciate that they offer a TON of options, especially for a non-sushi eater like me....the people I go with are sushi eaters lol. There is also a ton of sushi options. For $30 AYCE lunch and $40 AYCE dinner, it's defs not bad at all. However, some of the things I got were just bleh. Do not order the golden curry chicken or the chicken pad thai. Also the portion for these are pretty big, which made it hard for me to leave room for actual good tasting things lol. The pad thai is just pretty much not pad thai The flavour is terrible and so oily for some reason. I left almost the whole portion. The golden curry was hella bland and lazy? It's just nothing a good golden curry would be. Now for the better food items I tried lol. The hot and sour soup was DEElish. I could've just ate bowls and bowls of this. The beef short ribs were actually pretty good. They were marinated nicely and it gave very much kbbq vibes. Tho a bit chewy. The chicken tonkatsu was also good and paired nice with the sauce they gave. The garlic beef was just ok. Could've been more garlicky but you could taste the steak flavour. The general tao's chicken was also mediocre but edible lol. Wasn't spicy at all. The fried banana was a very lazy fried banana. The batter was not it and I was glad it was a small piece. Not worth my calories. For the price, I wouldn't mind coming back if I had to, but I don't think I would by choice. There wasn't enough items that blew me away.

Best Hot and Sour I ever had. Forgot to take the pic till it was almost gone, it was that good.

Wow. An all you can eat sushi place where each thing order is made right then. You are given an e-tablet to browse as the menu, then you just select the quantity and hit submit. The staff is very helpful showing you how the process works, if you have not been there before. You do not need to order everything at once. I would suggest ordering in stages so everything does not come out at the same time and you can see what you like. Everything I tried was delicious. If I lived in the area this would be a place that I frequented.

Can't order more than 2 scallops pre person my order

Average service and average quality items. Each order requires the server to "approve" The items are more limited compared to other AYCE yet they charge the same prices. Some items are not all you can eat. Service is below average. Example: One of us didn't have a napkin so we for a napkin. The server had to check the floor before getting one for my friend.

K&B sushi offers all you can eat where you can order all that you want from a tab provided to you. The process is really smooth and we literally ordered everything - make sure you don't waste food as there's a charge for wasting. We were able to finish all the food so wasn't charged thankfully! Most of the items were delicious. I especially loved the Mango salad, udon noodles, and fried rice. The only drawback is that their dessert item is really limited. A recommended place for all you can eat lovers!

All you can eat sushi (and other Asian dishes)! Ah, how I have missed buffets during covid-19 lockdown. While we await the return of classic buffets, we can content ourselves with a la carte buffets like the one at this joint - you order on a tablet and submit the order (strangely a server must come by to confirm it - I suppose to enforce rules like you getting a maximum number of scallops). Unfortunately there's no descriptions for the dishes so if you don't already know what a dish is, you need to look at the photo and make an educated guess. The dishes here were generally decent. This being a buffet, I shall just highlight those that were particularly good or bad. The miso soup was quite dilute, and the hot & sour soup was a bit too hot and not sour enough, though the ingredients inside were alright. The croquette came in the shape of mini katsu, was bland and too firm. The scallops were limited to 2 per person but were frozen breaded scallops, so adjust your expectations. And as with many Asian places, the "crab" here is really crab flavoured seafood stick (this was the first time I'd ever had crabstick on a "sashimi" platter). Teriyaki, garlic & black pepper beef were all varying shades of tough. "Ebi app" was fried black pepper shrimp which tasted vaguely rancid. The custard buns had a gloopy stuffing - while the texture was bad, the taste was OK. On the upside, the beef ribs were really good - tender and flavourful. Sashimi chips (bits of sashimi on a light base) were a nice light snack (and also a good way to use up sashimi scraps) The fried banana was very fragrant but tasteless. I think it's because they used banana essence, which was uneven. Another banan piece was too sweet so the flavour was uneven. The deep fried milk was good - it was like milky custard in a crispy fried shell. The ice creams were a mixed bag. While red bean and chocolate were alright, coconut had slivers of coconut that were too big, which made for an odd feeling in the mouth, and its flavour was very odd (kind of off-coconut). While green tea tasted okay, there were some ice crystals inside. Strangely, despite this being an ostensibly Japanese-themed place, they don't serve cold green tea. There's a pretty good variety of dishes here, and besides sushi and other Japanese dishes you also get some Chinese and Thai items. I also like how most orders are rather small - with small portions, you get to try more dishes (especially if you're in a small group). And they levy a 15% service charge so there's no need to tip.

My friends ended up ordering Edame for me to eat

Im visiting from Chicago & came with 3 friends. I'm allergic to fish so I tried to order chicken and they said I couldn't and with a bad attitude. I was so hungry but I'll literally die if I eat fish. So rude & so disappointed. I can't believe they didn't let me order. I guess it's greed over what the customers want. The ambience was busy & they servers seemed angry & impatient. My friends liked the sushi however! I'm just sad i couldn't order anything else.

More of a 2.5 star experience this time. SERVICE 2/5: Service is way too slow and server gave me wrong order. I also had to ask for tea 3 times before actually getting it. Total opposite of my first visit where I had really good service. FOOD 2.5/5: Salmon and butterfish sashimi were okay but not properly cut or even separated. Salmon was buttery soft but looked like mush in some parts cause of how they were cut. Kalbi was good, tender. Spicy salmon, rainbow and red rolls (4pcs each) were meh. Chicken wings (2 pcs) were okay and crispy. I would not recommend sweet and sour soup and udon noodles as they were too salty.

I went to the one in Mississauga and this place is bigger and better. The sushi was so fresh and we ate more than usual because the food was so good. Come hungry so the price doesn't shock you.

Picture taken May 1st, multiple order picture collage! Many order of scallops (my fave!)

Even tho their dinner buffet says AYCE, however upon placing order on the iPads like many times before we were informed now scallops and tuna sashimi are no longer AYCE But 2 order per person! When asked if this was their new policy, the waitstaff said it has always been this way even tho we were there just a month ago and I had pictures to prove the multiple orders we had! I loved how they had sweet shrimp and scallops but since it isn't AYCE , they should not be on the menu! Maybe put a sign up on each table! It's false advertising to promote all you can eat but have certain items be limited! What's the point then? I had really like this place coz it's close to work but will think twice no before going again!

We asked for a simple dietary consideration and it was totally ignored. When we brought it to their attention, the chef just shrugged his shoulders and said it was a mis-communication. There's paid street parking on both sides of the street. I did read a review that there's complimentary parking behind the restaurant though. Mai Bistro has a small patio out front that's covered and indoor seating as well. We opted to sit on the patio. Since it was our first time at the restaurant the waitress explained the various menus to us. There was a written menu for Today's Specials and some of them were crossed out. I'm guessing that those items have already sold out. I saw a photo of the menu from a couple of years ago and in comparing with the menu from the other day I can see that prices have increased for some dishes. To me, prices veer on the higher side. The grilled lemongrass pork with rice and asian slaw was $22 and the shrimp ceviche with fresh salsa and avocado on a crispy tortilla was $11. My Vietnamese style pork tacos were a good deal for $10. Even at the regular price of $14 the price isn't too different from tacos at other restaurants. The pork was flavourful and portions are like what I found from food trucks in LA (but leave you wanting more).

The flavours are on point. I went on a Thursday morning around 12pm and the place was so busy, all the seats in the dining area were already taken. It's also located in a nice little plaza with other restaurants to choose from like Z!Eats, Booster Juice, and Thai Express. I would say it's in a really good location where you could stroll around. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience here. I would say though that it is quite a bit expensive. My order of the tandoori chicken dumplings and steamed chicken dumplings, which came with 6 pieces each, total was $25.28.

The dumplings came with a salad that was basically just cabbage, so crunchy, no taste, no dressing, at all, like squeeze some juice/dressing of any kind, so no attention to detail here, at all, the chili chicken was great though, just wish I didn't three orders for a satisfying lunch, literally 3 x $5 was necessary for one person, so, good luck,
