It's located inconspicuously in a tiny dingy shopping mall (which probably isn't helping foot traffic) but the chicken here beats Bon Chon hands down. The drumsticks are plump with a nice crispy skin to meat ratio. I like to order some packaged ramen to bring back college memories and help break up the bites of grease. I was first warned this place has terrible customer service and would refuse to believe a restaurant in Annandale would be discriminating at the same time. Before a group of my friend all none koreans walk in and waited 45 min for water and when asked the dinner order they said they "forgot". The Korean fried chicken here is soooo good! This place is wayy better than Bon Chon and I think it could possibly compete with the KFC I've had in NYC. The spicy flavor has the right amount of kick and the soy garlic flavor is tasty enough that can hold it's own against the spicy flavor. I haven't tried too much of the other food on the menu, but the seafood pancake was pretty good too. I definitely recommend this place. It usually takes about 35 min to prepare the chicken, so if you're dining in, you may want to call ahead of time so that the food is ready to go when you arrive. read more

The wings were good...crispy and thin battered. Unlike bonchon, too thick with the batter and the seasonings are wayyy too sweet...2 wings from bonchon and im basically done. However, i dont recommend the fish balls and the calamaries. The fish balls didnt taste like it has any fish in it, more like just batter being rolled into balls and fried. Just like any of the basic fish balls u could find in a korean market. Calamaries were too thickly battered. Hurt my gum after a few bites. French fries were good but i dont recommend bringing it home cuz it will be too hard and dried. read more

I went here for the first time this week after hearing lots of good things about South Korean style chicken wings - I'm so sad I didn't get around to enjoying this place sooner!!! Whatever 'meh' may have existed with this place before, there is none of that now. A quick story about reservations: I called on a Wednesday around 1pm to make a reservation and place a tentative order of wings (which they like to do when you call for a reservation to get that magical chicken underway). I got a call back around 6pm just to confirm my reservation time and order (surprising, but fine, I was iffy on the food order earlier). About five minutes before my friends and I got to the restaurant, they called me AGAIN to let me know the chicken was just about ready (aka 'Get your @$$ over here already!'). We found this amusing, but if you don't, the point is that they are serious about their reservations and having your chicken ready at an exact time. The wings were hands down THE BEST, the beer was ice cold and perfect with spicy wings, and the service at the restaurant was impeccable. They checked on us constantly (full disclosure: it was definitely a slow night for them), emptying the little bone bowl regularly, checking on beverages, bringing us extra sides of pickled radishes, and just being generally friendly and awesome. We had an amazing time and I'm so excited to bring other groups of friends there to give it a try. One last thing - if you're wondering how much chicken to order per person, my group of four got two of the large wing combos, one in each flavor, and that plus beer was a good amount for everyone (except my one super hungry friend who ordered an extra entree and took 80% of it home for lunch the next day). My girlfriend and I both purchased groupon coupons to this location, wanting to try it out. Upon arrival, they informed us that we would not be able to use both of our coupons at one table. Because of this policy, we requested separate tables and offered we were willing to get separate checks. There were plenty of spare tables and this would not have been difficult. They would not honor the groupons. We were going to let it go and just use one groupon, but it turned out that they were out of the very dish we traveled here to try. We left the establishment. If they aren't reasonable in their business practices or if they can't keep adequate inventory (especially on a Friday night around 6:00 pm-6:30 pm), they don't get our business. I love this place honest to god, their chicken is good in flavor and size and usually their service is pretty good but the way I got treated today was so upsetting. I wanted to order to go and I called and heard someone pick up and then it was just silence on the phone. I hung up and tried calling back but then no one picked up and it went to voicemail. Okay no big deal maybe they're busy. So I went to the place and it's not terribly busy, there's like three tables, and 4 people sitting at the bar. Take out is poppin they got bags of chicken everywhere. But there's only two people working, and they both look stressed out. I'm waiting patiently for my turn and as soon as I get to the front of the line the guy asks me what my order is and I said I need to order and he said that orders are 45-50 minutes I said that's fine, asked him if they have an extra large option, and he looks annoyed at me hands me a menu and says "take the menu go wait over there, there's other customers behind you" Time out, you work in the service industry, hospitality is the foundation of your job. I tried to let it go because I'm sure they were stressed out so I got back in line. I waited to get back to the front, and right when I get to the front. The dude walks away and starts doing something else. Then the other guy is checking all the bags and straight ignores me. I waited 5 minutes and neither of them acknowledged me. I felt singled out and so embarrassed. I just left and got Bon Chon instead with some friendly service. I totally understand being stressed out but that was unacceptable. read more
