I can honestly say that this is the first auto shop that I would recommend to anyone in the Long Beach area. I'm a traveler for my job and my car is a must. I was referred to them by my roommate, and it was the best place I could have ever taken my car. They were very honest and straightforward when it came to my car. David and the staff were super accommodating and friendly. They made me feel at ease and left me with the knowledge that my car was in good hands I took in my Scion xB to get some work done under the hood because the car kept stalling, and the lights on my dashboard were going haywire. After everything was diagnosed, we talked about what could be immediately fixed and what could wait. As they were finishing up, my car kept saying something was still wrong. This is now the third time I've used this shop, and each time I've been blown away but today took the cake. Yesterday my engine started to smoke and overheat, I wasn't sure the issue so this morning I brought it in bright and early. The manager/maybe owner, came personally out to see my issue, even pointed out a blown tube and made expectations but no promises to see what else could be the issue. Called me about 2 hours later, it must have just been the blown tube but regardless they told me to come on in and it's ready to go. Came here years ago to get a fix for my Accord. Work was good, customer service sucked. It was my second time to go there for repairs so I asked John if I could get a discount. In jest, he said he should raise the price since it's my second time. When it was time to pay, his wife, who does the cashier work, told me that she'd have to charge me extra $4 bucks if I pay with Visa, since they didn't want to pay the processing fee or whatever fee it was that came with using credit cards. I decided I'll walk down a mile down the street to Bank of America to get cash, which took easily 30 minutes. When I got back, his wife whined that they were planning on leaving early that day and I had to make them wait for my cash, just because I didn't want to pay the extra $4. RUDE and uncouth. John is factory Acura Honda trained but also does some other Japanese models as well. They are always honest and ethical in their dealings, giving you the option to choose factory or quality aftermarket parts. They will steer you away from bad aftermarket parts even if you insist on it because they know you will have problems faster and that will reflect on him. read more

I currently own a Toyota Prius and had needed all 4 tires replaced so I came to a nearby auto repair, I have been to a couple around town and they usually waste my time or greatly overcharge me for service, not this place. I needed 4 tires and they took great care of me, The lady in the front by the name of Ivette went out of her way to go pick up the tires they didn't have in stock and got me in and out of there within a little bit over an hour and I wasn't the only one there! The technicians are really respectful and have diagnosed another car of mine very well and we're willing to even take the extra step and actually walk me through what was going on and what was going to be needed in the near future. The last time I visited this shop, it was clean, the prices were cheap and they do a decent job for the most part. However, I don't think any of these mechanics are certified. For simple things like oil changes and other small stuff, you shouldn't have any problems with them working on it. Like all mechanics shops, you just have to be knowledgeable and know what to look out for when dealing with them. They are in the business to make money. Just like the dealerships, they will do whatever it takes to make the most money possible. From upselling or complete bs work. I know the owner and his wife, they pretend to be your friend but remember, money comes first when it comes to business. Also, when the owner is working on your car, he sometimes ask YOU to help him. LOL. What are we paying him for again? Do we get a discount for helping? I had my front brake replaced here once and he needed help bleeding the lines. Guess who was the one stepping on the brakes for him. I use to come here a lot but since I've gotten a new car, I take my car to the stealership. Both have their ups and down. read more

Just had my rotors and brake pads replaced. Pretty straight-forward. My brakes were grinding and I knew the pads were shot, and figured the rotors were damaged as well. This was the case. I rolled in without an appointment and my car was immediately inspected. They did not have the necessary parts on hand, but ordered them and had them delivered momentarily (seriously, like within an hour). They quickly replaced the worn parts and had everything back in order in no time. No one tried to upsell me and I was provided choice of parts - OEM or after-market. The best part of the visit was the conversation with the woman working in the office. She was super pleasant. As for a negative, I would say that the total bill ran a bit higher than I anticipated ($280ish, when I was hoping for $225), but the enjoyable experience and peace of mind that comes with a job well done are worth extra expense. I chose this mechanic because of the positive reviews here so I hope to contribute to that for some future Yelp visitor. I plan to make this my go-to shop for any future repairs. A+! I brought my 1996 vtec Acura integra there from 2003 to 2006. Loved the place. Mom, pop, and cousin. All very friendly, very fair, good businessman. Explains what he wants to do, shows you what is happening. i appreciate that since i am pretty clueless about cars. The dealer wanted to charge a fortune so I shopped around. This place, and John in particular took care of all kinds of things to do with the car, and I never needed to go anywhere else. Electrical with windows, head gasket resurfacing, oil changes, air filter changes, radiator crack (from a wreck), and regular servicing. I have recommended them to my family. read more

I was told by the owner to bring my car in since my electric locks went out and I couldn't get out of my car. Upon arrival I was explaining my situation to the owner and his reply was " how do you look now "? I didn't understand what he meant and considering that he was Cambodian I just thought it was his kind of sense of humor. He was frustrated with other customers and told me I should call AAA because it would be too much work for him. My situation was frustrating as it was and his insults and wasting my time just topped it off. Why would you complain about customers to a potential customer? John and his wife are awesome business owners. Some people don't understand what it's like to own your own business. John knows Japanese cars like the back of his hand and his wife accommodates all your needs. My 2012 Accord 5 speed manual engine blew (someone test driving to buy it didn't know how to drive stick). I didn't know what to do and John gave me a generous 15 minutes of his time to explain what he would do and I didn't pay him a penny for his genuine opinion. I ended up paying for a new motor to be swapped into the car at a VERY good price considering while the engine was out he replaced my clutch, spark plugs, rear main seal, and a transmission flush at only the cost of the parts. Great deal, even better work. After 4,000 miles I thoroughly enjoy my car again and the clutch is better than the day I bought it. I have every intention of keeping it another 100,000 miles after how it drives now. Thanks John for your hard work, honest opinion, and passion for Japanese cars. Thanks to his wife for the constant updates, knowledge about services and parts, and remembering me when I came back for checkups during the repair and after for a routine check up! The ONLY place we take our Hondas! I wouldn't even consider going somewhere else. We have 2 old Hondas and I depend on them for everything, and they are always accommodating, fast, and fair. Oil changes, window regulators fixed, mirrors installed, my transmission blows up... etc I call them up and they are like "come on over, we'll take care of you." They are fair and honest. I just want to know if something really needs replacing, if it's unsafe, or if I can just leave it on 20 year old cars. They give you options to fit your budget. I live 5 minutes from them, which is so awesome! but I would drive an hour if I had to. I am going to drive my old Civic into the ground and I know I can do so safely now. :) Our old Hondas appreciate the care and when we get newer cars (which will probably be Hondas too), we will still come to Jon and Sue for everything. read more

After reading the positive reviews, I decided to take my car there without an appointment. Once there, The owner/mechanic, John, visually inspected my brakes and rotors. Afterwards, he give me recommendations on what needed to be done. Being me and always looking for a deal, I decided to have him resurface my rotors and install new brake pads.
