The wait was not long at all. Right when I say down I was up. The salon is like any other salon. There are multiple stations and etc. I absolutely love the work done on my hair. It was my first time doing a silk press in years and Kel really did a great job. The wash and shampoo was through. They weren't rough on my 4c hair so that was nice. She went over what she can do and what she couldn't based in my hair type (Asian straight hair) and previous hair coloring/balayage. I went with her first solution to do a partial highlight to blend in my previous balayage. She did suggest to do a re-tone if I didn't want to spend more time and money on my hair. She took her time and I never felt rushed. I am really pleased with how my hair turned out. I recommend reaching out to Michelle and book your appointment ahead of time! I came in and explained my concerns (being treated like every other natural) and Nicole explained her process and asked questions before beginning. I truly appreciate that. I didn't go into a salon and leave with a sore scalp. I have very tight coils and my hair has been combed with small tooth combs that yank my fine coils. It is also wrung out which causes serious tangles. This is why I opt not to wear my hair in natural styles. Based on her ratings, I decided to give this shop a try. Nicole is gentle while effective. It was my first time EVER getting my hair colored and I was really nervous but she made me feel so comfortable and explained everything. And she freaking killed it! She's a junior stylist but you could never tell. This is their newer location, right on 36th St in Hampden. I would recommend trying to find the free parking on the side streets because the main street is all paid hourly parking, which isn't great for the longer color appointments. I have had such a difficult time finding a hair stylist that was able to cut my hair the way I envisioned. My search is over!!! I wish I had found this place sooner! The woman who cut my hair, who I believe is the owner (?), was so sweet and efficient. I wish I asked for her name but she was wonderful! Her assistant was also very kind and I found them to be a great team! The owner asked what I wanted and for inspiration photos, which I had ready. She then asked several other questions based on what I said I wanted and the photos I showed her. I wanted face framing layers, a V-cut on the back of my hair, and some bang styling that was appropriate for my face shape. From sitting down, to walking out the door, my haircut took only 40-45 mins! AMAZING! I feel like I have a lot of hair and I wanted layers so I was impressed by how efficiently everything was done, including the washing of my hair & curling after! I also found the price to be very fair and reasonable for what my end-product was with my hair. I highly recommend ON:U if you are in the search for a women's haircut!!!
