I've been going to KT for about four years now, after I ditched my Audi, lol and got a Japanese car. Mister Kim is a wonderful mechanic and a gentleman. I always feel comfortable there and he takes great care of my vintage dinosaur. If it was any older it would have concrete wheels and you'd have to pedal with your bare feet hahaha! He has a lot of business so sometimes it's not the fastest but a lot of times when I'm working from home for days I don't mind since I'm not driving and I live around the corner. I think his prices are very reasonable for a mechanic at this level of quality and knowledge. They often find fixes for little mechanical things that are cheap and easy rather than making you order a whole super expensive part from the dealer. And most of all, he caught a gas leak I did not smell that basically could have killed me! My engine was basically a bomb waiting to go off. I stopped there for a flat tire and he caught that scary problem. So I'm a fan! Not today, Satan, not Today!! Tips: Call ahead and make an appointment well in advance if you can for maintenance stuff. Drop your car off super early. He's open for a half day on Saturdays which is helpful! read more

This is, by far, the worst experience I've had with any business. I came into this shop to get a new clutch installed (over $1K in labor) and within a week, noticed issues until the car became near undriveable. In accordance with shop warranty, I requested for the car to be inspected and was refused any guarantee that I wouldn't be charged for said inspection if the issue was an installation error. I was also told they'd have to begin the inspection prior to giving me an inspection price. As a result, I had the system inspected by the manufacturer and another shop which confirmed it was due to an installation error. K.T. Auto continued to deny responsibility, stating I should have taken it into the shop for inspection and they didn't remember me asking for one explicitly despite me doing so a week before. Overall, I had to buy a new part (also over $1K) and work with a new shop to get it fixed after nearly a month of not being able to drive. Still, they have denied any responsibility nor given any recourse. Awful experience overall and I would give a massive "beware" on this business. read more

Great experience with KT! My husband has been coming here for several years and I was finally fed up with getting overpriced service at the dealership. I brought my Hyundai to KT and he checked around to tell me what I needed and gave me a quote before starting service. My car still had the original tires on it after 8 years and I had a feeling it was time for new tires. For a full set of 4 tires and an oil change, I received a very fair price probably a third of what I would have paid at the dealership. He also completed service in about 3 hours - so quick! As other reviews have said, the "waiting room" is small and not very glamorous so best to just drop off your car and go back home until it's ready. For the price though you cannot complain and I will definitely come back for future services. read more

KT Auto & Tire is a great place to take your vehicle for auto repairs and tire work. Kim gives great, straightforward service. I usually call and let him know I would like to drop my car or truck off with him. He either tells me yes or no (almost always a yes). The work is done fast, usually within a few days. I've never had any issues with a vehicle after picking it up. I've had catalytic converters replaced, tires repaired and oil changes. The shop has no waiting area but you won't need it. Let Kim do the job and he'll do it accurately & quickly and then call you for pick up. Can't say much about how fair the prices are because I don't go anywhere else. Absolute scam. I had a problem with my rear differential and they quoted me at $3200. When I called my car's dealership they said they could do the same job for $2500. I asked if Mr. Kim could price match and he said he could, I even got the quote formally put in their system and printed out. When I came to pick up the car, he charged me the original $3200 and refused to bring it down. Hands down one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. I was referred to KT Auto as I needed to get a car smogged. My car failed the first time, and required 2 additional trips to get everything sorted out. The owner was gracious enough to let me test the car out on each additional trip before charging me. Happily on the 3rd try it passed. True story: i had to get rear passenger side mirror replaced. brought the car in, he said he would order the part, charged me $200 deposit, said he would get back to me, and quoted $120 for labor and $645 for part. 2 weeks later i call and he forgot to order the part. He also forgot that he charged me a deposit and asked me for proof that my credit card was charged. finally he called to say the part had come in, but I was out that week so I said I would come 7 days later. But when i came in, he said the part did not arrive yet because he had forgot to order it until the day before, and that it would be in tomorrow. I said ok, and also asked him to complete a vehicle inspection form that needed to be filled out for an agency i work with. I called the next day; he said part was in and I could come pick the car up at 4pm. But he totally forgot about the inspection and lost the inspection form, so i had to send to him again. At 4pm as I was walking over to pick up the car, he called me and said the car would be ready the next day at 9:00am. He also said he needed to drive the car around before completing the inspection, which turned out to be false when I questioned him about it. when i finally came in the next day at 9am, he charged me $200 instead of $120 for the labor, and a 3.5% charge for using my credit card. the credit card charge was not disclosed before he ran my card and he said the only way to avoid that charge was to pay by cash. He seems like a nice enough guy, but this level of unprofessionalism and forgetfulness is unacceptable. I wasted a lot of time and money on this business and only went through with the transaction b/c he already had my $200 deposit and I needed the car fixed. read more

Kim, the owner is a great guy. He's very honest and forthright. He stands behind what he repairs. I had a part he replaced go bad eight months later. When I took it back, he replaced it free of charge, no labor charge either. I didn't even have to ask. I've taken my car in for repairs that other mechanics tried to sell me. I took it to Kim for a second opinion, and he told me it was unnecessary. I really appreciate that kind of integrity. I think his prices are reasonable too. I love KT! I've been coming here for a couple years now. I haven't had a problem he couldn't fix. He has given me oil changes, all new tires, helped me install my trailer hitch, fixed my coolant leak, and even got my husband's truck up and running again even after we thought it was totally done for. My car is currently with him right now getting fixed for an issue that two other house call mechanics had no idea how to help me with, so I ended up just towing my car to KT's shop, where I could actually get the help I need. This place is the stereotypical mechanic that will upcharge and rapture your wallet. I came here twice because the owner was associated with a recently retired mechanic that all of Los Angeles trusted (Jim Matson). But this guy KT is bullshit. Both times I came here he cited problems that cost me hundreds of dollars to repair. The first one seemed realistic enough. Fix an oxygen sensor in the car that was fairly old. The second time, however, I came here for an oil change on a young Prius which Toyota was still the lienholder. His mechanic broke the oil filter connector and it cost me hundreds of dollars to repair--and he did so with an aftermarket part. I'm still paying Toyota for this car and now he's put on parts that aren't even made by the manufacturer. I wanted to leave and take it to Toyota to have them fix it. But he already broke it to a point where my car is immobile...so he fixed it and using non-OEM hardware. Those things never fit properly, and my well maintained and young car has 3rd party hardware inside the engine bay. A simple oil change cost me hundreds of dollars! What crossed the line for me was, I asked for a tire rotation...only 2 tires needed to be rotated. He charged $30 dollars for a tire rotation! No one on earth charges T H I R T Y D O L L A R S for a tire rotation. He didn't even check tire pressure and brake that every other mechanic does without even having to ask. Why do they do this? Because the car needs to be raised up to drain the oil, and while it's up, rotate the tires (5 minutes) to even out the wear-and-tear, and then visually check the brake pads (30 seconds). This place is bullshit. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially those that don't know about cars and would like to avoid the stereotype mechanic. read more

They kept me waiting around and gave me sketchy vibes so I wanted a second opinion and took my car to K.T. after a couple hours I got a call from Mr. Kim who told me there was nothing wrong with my brakes... just about any business would've taken that opportunity to make some money off of the customer but in a truly classy move he let me know the truth that my car is not in need of major repair: saving me $1500. I've come here to smog my 1979 BMW 2002 and my 2003 Audi TT. And the owner always gets the job done. And he's open till 12pm on Sat. $40. Not the cheapest or the most expensive, but a reliable place. Before the BMW was free of smog requirements it needed a tune-up to pass, but the owner was patient and got me the Pass I needed to stay on the road without costly repairs. read more

My car has been over heating sporadically for a few weeks and I was referred to this place by another mechanic I found on Yelp who was unable to do the work. Took it in last week, they kept it three days, claimed to have fixed the problem and charged me $200. Well, the overheating started again this week, I called in frustration only to be brushed off by Danny who would not answer my questions or call me back. I have reported them to the BBB but in the meantime, my car has since been repaired by a REAL mechanic. My battery died and needed replacement. I found KT Auto and I dropped my car off and had it back within no time- several hours, and the battery had to be ordered. Very quick. While I was there, I needed one of my wheels and undercarriage checked out. Mr. Kim provided his diagnosis and a quote to fix my rim and wheel cover- all fair prices - and I took it back when the parts came in (about two days). Dropped my car off and it was ready to go about 1.5 hours later. He's been in business for 31 years and I wouldn't use anyone else as long as I live in or near the area. I had an annoying slow leak in one of my tires and was looking for a local place to fix the tire. K T Auto & Tires had decent reviews so I dropped in unannounced. This was my first time using them. It is a typical old-school mom & pop type shop (the only kind these days usually willing to repair a tire). I told them the problem and they got to work. At the end of it all my tire was repaired and it only cost $20. Heck of a deal. So why only 4 stars, maybe I'm picky but the 1-star reduction was only because it took them 5 min to acknowledge me at all (and there were several members of their staff around, one of which was just sitting on a mechanic's stool drinking what I'll assume was an Arizona Iced Tea). That and they didn't quote me a price first. Luckily it only came to the great price of $20 but I still think it is the most courteous habit to quote the customer first. Upon paying the Asian guy (I've assumed him to be the owner) was friendly, which I appreciate. If this experience of mine is typical I think you'd not regret giving them your business. read more
