Korean BBQ has 3 components when rating its quality: the side dishes (banchan), the sauces (e.g. ssamjang, marinades, etc), and the quality of meat. This place missed the mark on 2 out of the 3. The banchan lacked freshness. The kimchee was especially disappointing and was dry and lacked the umami it typically brings to the table. The radish wraps were dated, malodorous and were limp. All other side dishes were salty and some were inedible. The meat was what one would expect at an AYCE. Not great, but gets the job done. The kalbi that night did stand out and was the highlight of the meal. I ordered the pork jowls but they brought me pork belly. We also ordered the spicy pork but got marinated beef (bulgogi) instead. Not a quality issue but more of a service issue. My wife and I did not do well afterwards and had some GI upset: not from eating too much. This place also had some unorthodox rules. We had to order 4 different kinds of meat. We were only wanting 3 types but they required us to pick another and couldn't double up on the order. Overall, this experience was not worth the money. I think the quality of the meat has decreased since I was last here sometime last year. The galbi was either very fatty or has huge bones. It was $33 for 6 pieces of ribs, which is average price for à la carte but meat quality should be better than ayce selections. The pork belly was just normal but the tangsooyuk was not good at all. The pork was super soggy when it first came out and we barely touched it. Service was pretty good. We asked for leaner pieces of the ribs and they exchanged it for us. When I asked for boxes, I also told her the tangsooyuk wasn't good when she asked if I was taking it home. She ended up taking it off our bill, which was really nice of her and a good reflection of how their management is. read more

Always a great time with friends here! Such fun (and tasty) cocktails with good food too. I always get the basic all-you-can-eat, and it's perfect! The bulgogi (regular and spicy) and garlic pork belly are my favorite meats to order. The ambiance is great. The wait to get seated can often be long, but it's worth it. Service has always been friendly, although on a few occasions it's been quite slow. They typically have K-pop playing with music videos on the tv which is fun. It's a bit pricey, but with it being all-you-can-eat it makes it worth it. Just make sure you come hungry! Seth at the front is all over it, making sure you're are seen, get onto the list and takes his time chatting, answering questions and making the experience, awesome! Once seated, if you are lucky to get her, Silvia is amazing. I've seen some hit or miss on service from other reviews, and with her, it's a hit and more! Everything is set up, and she's there to take your first round right away, and comes back often, and by that I mean, watches and even before you know it--is there to ensure you're having a great time or change out the grill. Atmosphere is young, loud (in a good way), and has a bit of a club feel. The food is great! Korean food is pricey even at the grocery store and you'd be hard pressed to replicate this variety at home for the same or a cheaper price in my opinion. Service here was excellent. Our waitress was so good and she explained things, was attentive and overall just fantastic. She was the best part of the meal!! So nice and friendly. Food was really good and they recently changed the special to add a lunch menu special that is every day and it's only $23.99 for the AYCE BBQ deal. Which is a great deal. They have a lot of rules, like four different meats per round or everyone at the table ordering the same AYCE - which makes it a little tough. Prices a little high. In a strip mall with plenty of parking, we got a table right away. If you are at the tables near the door, be prepared for a wind gust every time the door opens. While fast to drop water, silverware, and side dishes - it was hard to get someone later to order or clear items. They could benefit from buttons to call the servers like Korea. This place is definitely busy, and parking can be a challenge, but we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The atmosphere is great, and the staff are really friendly! I had recently had a not-so-good experience here, and I'll list several reasons why: 1. Low meat quality: This Korean BBQ place is lower end in terms of quality, and unfortunately you can see it most in the meats. Most of the meat they give is either of average or below average quality, and I don't think much of it is seasoned either, so it was surprisingly flavorless. Also, the "premium pork belly" we received was very dry and thin. Additionally, their side vegetables were not the best either. 2. Weird ordering policy: They have a 2-hour time limit for AYCE, but you're not allowed to order anything for the last 30 minutes of your window. This was confusing to me, because it made me wonder are you just supposed to sit there and not eat for the last 30 minutes of your supposed "2-hour" window? 3. Bad service: It seemed like they were taking their time to try and make that 1 hr 30 minutes of your ordering window pass by quickly, as it takes them awhile to bring out the meat each time, which overall seems to reduce the amount of times you can order. We also ordered some pork belly but I guess the server misheard me and brought out an entire raw chicken breast, which we were unsure what to do about until we asked them about it. Finally, the sauces are not clearly listed on the menu, and our server made no effort to explain how the sauces worked or how we can order them, so we ate our entire meal with no sauce. I would say the one positive thing about this place is their portion sizes are pretty big, but I don't think that alone is worth justifying eating here, and I'd go somewhere else if I want Korean BBQ next time. read more

Wow. Fantastic food! The flavors were just everything I needed in life! We showed up at 9pm. Not realizing they closed at 10. So I felt the AH after they told me. Party of 3 and NOT separate checks However Seth the manager wouldn't let us leave, and took care of us. He was fantastic and wonderful! He gave us great suggestions and helped us get all the food and we loved it all! The Soju was amazing! The kalbi was to die for We left around 10 so as not to overstay our welcome or be total AH's lol The restaurant was very clean as well and all the staff was amazing! 10/10. I normally don't like writing negative reviews about a restaurant, as I used to be in this industry and understand fully how things work. But this time, I really had to. This location is always busy, and I get it; there's almost always a wait, and I don't mind that. Our party of 6 got there at 7:30 pm, and didn't get seated until around 8:15 pm, which was not too bad. We started ordering right away because we knew it would take some time for the meat to come out. The meat, however, didn't come out until 20 minutes later, with a 2-person portion (4 meat in one small plate). Normally, we would not be able to order the next round until all the meat is on the grill, but this time, when we tried to order after placing all of our meat on the grill, one of the servers said we couldn't order until most of the meat was off the grill. So we rushed to cook everything so we could order 2nd round. Then we ordered 2nd round, receiving the same amount of meat, which did not at all make sense because there are 6 of us. I also let that slide, and as we were ordering the 3rd round, our server informed us that this would be the last round because it is 9:20 pm--when usually their last call isn't until 9:30 pm. So we asked if we could get a double portion because the meat obviously wasn't enough for 6 people. She said she'd ask for a little more meat, and we did receive our last round with a little more meat--again, all in one small plate. I understand the policy of having last call and everything, but all I'm saying is please be more considerate of the amount of people you are serving. read more

We went for the first time and to be honest I don't understand the negative reviews. There were two of us and it was like 2-3 pm when we went so a weird hour. The restaurant was clean, service was incredibly friendly, continued to check on us and were very quick. We did the all you could eat and to be honest with the two of us we struggled to finish that second plate of meat. We loved all the sides they brought to us, the sauce and what I assume is MSG was great as well. I don't feel like they were stingy with the meat they brought or they slowed service at all! The menu offers a wide variety of meat and vegetables to grill at your table. Do yourself a favor and be a little adventurous when ordering. The staff are friendly and communicative, and always have lots of recommendations. Feel free to ask for a sample portion of any of the ingredients, just to try it out. You can always order more. My favorites include: Bulgogi, thinly sliced beef brisket, Teriyaki Chicken, Daepae Samgyupsal, and the miso pork belly. Be warned, this place can be very busy on the weekends. On several occasions I've had to wait 2 hours to be seated, and the lobby can be brutal when hungry folks are crowded and hot. Too hungry to order the cook-your-own meats and veggies, we ordered the teriyaki chicken and Korean BBQ ribs. First, the place is incredibly clean and modern. We walked in and thought we were in a club! Second, the staff was friendly and provided good customer service. Third, the teriyaki chicken and BBQ ribs were very good. So good that we ate ALL of it! But not the kimchi. Neither of us are fans of fermented cabbage. I know, I know, a lot of people are. They also bring you sides of other veggies but neither of us are huge veggie people so we passed on all of that. We did eat all of the white rice - so we passed on all the healthy stuff for a grain with no nutritional value. lol I do want to bring a group back to do the actual cook-your-own dinner. We asked the server if she could replace it or if she knew what it was and she said she had no idea what it even was that was on our plate. She then proceeded to bring out this guy with tattoos on his arms and he places his hands over our table and keeps pressuring us to eat it and keeps telling us that it's gonna be a waste if we don't eat it. Which yes I understand it is a waste but that's not what we ordered. He's standing at our table for a FAT minute just trying to pressure us to eat it even after we said no, we notice that our server is standing by him smiling and watching him do this as if it was funny. After that she ignored us and didn't speak to us , then he went to the table next to us and proceeded to do that same stance the whole time we were there while he's looking over at us like they were doing this on purpose. I don't recall this place being exceptional, so the service here might be hit or miss. However, we had a much better experience thanks to Zach (the cashier on our receipt, and I hope it's him) compared to my previous visit to the Beaverton location. We visited with a large group on a Thursday night and were fortunate to have no wait time. Whenever Zach brought out our plates, we quickly emptied them and were ready to order more within 5 minutes. Zach's attentiveness and excellent service stood out. He ensured we were full and satisfied throughout our meal. Although 18% gratuity was automatically added to our bill due to our party size, Zach certainly earned it. I've never had these many rounds at an AYCE KBBQ place. I have no complaints about the meat quality. However, I wish they would offer more steamed egg servings. One steamed egg for every six guests is challenging to share among a group. This place will leave your clothes smelling like BBQ afterward, so it's wise to dress accordingly. read more

The steamed egg was deflated and dipped in like a crater with barely any eggs. Lastly, I'm not a fan of gas stoves with a metal grill. FOOD There are two tiers of AYCE options, the more expensive one only had few additional seafood dishes and it honestly isn't worth the extra cost. The meat dishes that we got were mediocre at best. I do feel like they start to get stingy & come around a lot less after we order anymore than like 3 rounds. Place is cool, very loud, K-pop music playing in the background, people chatting, grills sizzling. Great place for hanging out with friends & drinking a little too much soju. This location is my preferred over their sister location in Beaverton as well, we tried the one in Beaverton once & lord our server must've been having a bad day because they gave us the nastiest attitude & barely checked on us. Being that it's all you can eat, you obviously aren't getting the best quality but for the price it's not bad. They do have a pretty good selection of meat to choose from including LA galbi, bulgogi, chadol (brisket), samgyeopsal (pork belly), and a bunch more. They have a few seafood and vegetable options too. Their corn cheese is also really good! This is a great place to bring a group of friends! The atmosphere is fun and lively, there are multiple TVs around the restaurant with k-pop music videos playing in the background. My family's go-to spot for Korean bbq in Portland! We came here for lunch today and while we enjoyed our experience as usual, it is definitely far from being excellent. We usually get beef brisket and thin pork belly and the amounts of meat they give us each round was lacking. I guess since we do AYCE, there is a reason to be stingy but usually we would get more slices of meat at other Korean bbq spots. Also their prices for the quality are on the higher end. But there are few Korean bbq spots and everything is just more expensive everyday. Also, the waits were a bit long between rounds of meat but I guess staffing is short. Also I have notes that the quality of the meat has gone down hill but that is not unique. I'll definitely be back as I do enjoy Korean bbq. read more

My friend and I stopped by on our way back home on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty empty, I think I saw two other tables. But we came at the right time because after we started eating, the place got packed! The ambiance is nice, a little dark and they play Korean pop music videos on the tv. So your typical Korean joint. Service was a little slow after we sat down and ordered the first round. We did the AYCE plus package. You have to order 4 meats per round unless it's your final round. The meats come out in one tray. Not even a large tray just a normal size tray you'd find at any other kbbq place. Each round only had 1 strip of short rib and maybe 3-4 pieces of the other meat. Idk if they're trying to not have people waste food but if they're gonna do that small portion, they should be quicker on checking in on us to reorder. We finished our first round and the grill was burning while we waited for someone to come take our order again. Once it got busier they got a little quicker. Overall meat was good and the price is good. We got our moneys worth and did about 4-5 rounds of meat. Would stop by again if I was in the area. read more

All-you-can-eat (AYCE) KBBQ?? Yes yes yes! Count me in. This place was actually highly recommended by two Portland friends, and they actually joined us on our last day! It's located next to Sushi Sushi and Pho Vietnam on SE Foster Rd. Interesting how there's three different cuisines next to each other LOL. There's ample parking that won't ever be a problem. My friends and I went for dinner which was $28 per person. Not a bad price! They offer a variety of frozen meats only such as kalbi, pork belly, brisket, and chicken with certain vegetables. The rule is that we have to order maximum and minimum of 4 different meats each time and if we ordered any less, it'll be our last order. Interesting how that's a requirement but good in a way. The environment of this restaurant is relatively nice with K-pop playing on the TVs, and our server was very attentive. I haven't had KBBQ for so long that this restaurant really satisfied my craving. Recommended if you're looking to indulge in an AYCE setting! P.S. At this rate, I'd rather get the non-happy hour menu, which includes LA galbi for $27.99. Overall, the food was good. All the cuts of meat were fine. The garlic beef and the chicken overall were good, we re-ordered those the most. One thing to note is that the meats come in varying portion sizes. The veggies weren't the freshest, and the selection is fairly limited. The pineapple was a bit green, but was great once grilled. One of the biggest annoyances is that you have to order 4 different meats at a time, which is probably to limit people from ordering the most expensive meats. I think they could potentially change this to limit 1 or 2 of those meats per 2 people in the party. SPACE: Decently-sized and plenty of lighting, albeit a little chilly. Kpop played in the background. PARKING: plenty of parking in the plaza.
